Mine comes Thursday! Can't wait! Great Review....
Great video and thanks for talking about the MacBook Pro. I've just built a gaming PC but I use my Mac as my daily driver and this monitor looks perfect. I think I'm sold.
Just got mine last Saturday, replacing a 42" C2 TV as well. This thing is marvelous.
Is the size enough after using a 42 thats my biggest concern is that ill feel its way to small afrer being on a 42 for awhile?
how is it compared to the c2... are the blacks as good as th c2 and what is brightness like compared to c2
@@sethcharlesanders Not an issue at all. You just move it closer to you. lol
You get the benefit of additional pixel density, and it can still fill the same amount of your field of vision (when moved closer than the 42").
@@Omnitrio1 Blacks / shadows are the same. I don't see a difference, at least. That ambient light concern for QD-OLEDs.....I don't see it at all, but my room is very well controlled as far as ambient light goes. The color is pretty much perfect. The LG C2 will likely seem to be more saturated at first glance of the AW3225QF, but that's when you realize it's because the LG C2 is inaccurate. This AW was pretty close to perfect out of the box, as far as color accuracy in HDR.
What did you do with the C2?
Watching this on my 34" 2k Alienware OLED, it's digging its own grave
Is the difference that significant?

how do you like it? i have the old aw3423dwf like from 2017 im due but i think im going to wait for it to go down they always do
Great review, Just bought this and its coming soon, cant wait. QQ - Does it come with display cables or do we need to supply our own and if we do what do you recommend?
I just got the AW3423DWF, oh boy the picture quaility is out of this world. The blacks, the dynamic range, the response times (it all looks so clean all the time). It probably enhances your games more than going from a last gen pc (like my own RTX3080, Ryzen 5600 combination) to the fastest pc one can buy today. I feel i have turned the clock at least 5 years ahead in terms of graphical fidelity with this screen.
Thanks for the review. I’d love to see what the calibration process is like. Did you have to calibrate both the MacBook Pro and Dell displays to get them to match?
I liked your review. Felt laid-back and focused on relevant issues, such as pointing out that the curve isn't aggressive. Put my mind at ease and I'm going to buy it, I decided. I've been on the fence for a long time, but I think I'm ready for 4k and for OLED.
Edifier speakers!!! 🎉 I seen in some videos the display looks dim I really am interested in coming from an LG 32GQ950-B you think it’s worth the switch ? My display gets bright but I’m afraid of pulling the trigger.
Actually best review of this monitor out there so far
thank you! I appreciate this comment ;-)
Still waiting for mine to ship, I decided to go with this one because its the only 4k 32" of the new OLEDs to be curved. When you use a curve display you never want to go back to flat.
getting mines in 2 weeks i cant wait man
Mine is coming on the 26th ,can't wait.
I too have the C2 42 and got this monitor as well. I love how fantastic the display is and the 240hz gives us room to grow for the next +2-4 years. My 4090 doesnt even come close to utilizing the headroom but can anticipate the 50xx and 60xx doing so. The price is still shocking low as well. The curve is so slight that it doesnt bother me. I personally like flat displays like the c2 and c3. I was leaning on getting the c4 but was kinda upset that LG really didnt do much in terms of an evolution over the c2 and c3. They probably didnt want to push the limits due to cost and the c series eating into their G series and ultragear pc centric monitors. Dell totally took advantage of the market for high end gamers and hit it out of the park with this monitor. Also a plus that this Alienware monitor has 2, 2.1 hdmi ports for the ps5 and xbox. my #1 concern was the dead pixels when my monitor arrived last Saturday. It was perfect but ppl should know that Dell is quick in their service. I did have 2 past AW monitors have dead pixels in the past and they were quick getting out replacements for me with very little effort on my part. They get an A+ for that as well.
The curve is a deal breaker for me and I am probably not alone. Strange move from DELL to cripple their sales with this decisions.
I have a c2 as well 55 inch. So getting this will be even better than the c2?

Great video. I just ordered the Calibrite Display Plus HL (CCDIS3PLHL) device (and will download the accompanying software) to calibrate it to my new MacBook Pro M3 Max laptop.
Re Dell Firmware updates, how do you download or upload the latest firmware for Mac users? Do you use Parallels? Thanks for your help and for sharing those calibration tools and software!
Could you please share what settings you did when connected to your Mac? For example, did you set it to Creator mode? Should I turn HDR on or off (on the Mac settings)? Thanks a lot.
What equipment do i need to perform calibration ? what did you use and recommendations ? Thank you for the video (:
Calman color calibration device that hooks into your computer via USB, the software is Very good and updated frequently 👍💯
Great question. I just got mine today and have a fully-loaded MacBook Pro M3 Max connected to it but I definitely notice the difference in color-and would love to calibrate it just like @JohnnyMcPro did.
@JohnnyMcPro, first of all, out of all the RUclips videos and Reddit blogs re this monitor and Macs, your video is by far the best review and advice I have come across… so thank you! That said, do you have a video or tutorial on how to best calibrate the Mac to match with the AW3225QF? Thanks and hope to hear from you!
@@estivenrojo1677 Honestly I need the Color Calibration as well for this monitor, hope he uploads the icm File or something that we can download and see whatever he is seeing on that display.
bro quick question before i buy this monitor
any news when the variant for UltraWide comes for Alienware?
Thank you for this video. Would be interested to know how you calibrated this monitor and what gear you used. Also, how comfortable is reading text on this monitor. On my 5k iMac the text is so crisp and sharp, I'm wondering if I wouldn't be disappointed with this monitor (and I'm not into gaming).

The main issue with this on Mac is the UI scaling. For sharpest image on Mac, you have to set it to either 1920x1080 scaling, or full 3840x2160 res. I typically have mine set at the full res and it looks very sharp. If you look close, it will not look as sharp as a 5K 27" display, but the overall image quality makes up for it since it's so good.
Wow! This thing is SICK
Hi Thanks for your review. So do you think this display is great for Gaming and for "work"? i'm a webdesigner and i do use Abode suite for design and stuff. Ta spare some space in my room i like to have one monitor for both tasks beining gaming and work.... By the way how did you connect your Macbook was that via USB-C or did u use a USB-C to DP cable?
thanks in advance for your time
I love your setup, insane.
thank you! It's taken a while to build it up to this point :)
@@JohnnyMcPro how much in total ? Are you from NC ?
What gpu are you using and what are the max fps you get in games with max settings on?
I'm gonna give this a go coming from an ultra wide screen mainly based on the color accuracy while still being OLED with the resolution of 4K and high refresh rate.
Hey, is that the max height of the monitor? I saw your setup in the "MAC USERS" chapter, and that's exactly how I use my Mac + Monitor.
Ej Johnny great review, but how does the screen handle a proper punch after losing some rocket league?
Does this screen curve cause distortion on graphic design/photography workflow? Thank you for the review!
not if you're sitting in the middle of the screen at a normal viewing distance - the curve is subtle and actually makes the edges look more normal and uniform
I wish they would make a 42" version.
Great review! I think I am going to give this one a go! Coming from a flat panel to a curved I think ill enjoy it. Looks immersive with the curved panel.
Did you end up getting one?
Can you change the colour temperature and settings when in hdr mode?
How is the scaling on the Mac? I'll be using with an M1 Studio through DisplayPort. Looking forward to picking up once this becomes available at Best Buy.
This scaling on Mac is obviously not as clean as an Apple Studio Display, but I have the scaling set to 3008 x 1692 and it looks really good. It's pushing the full 4K resolution of course, it's just that Mac OS "scales" the UI to look like 3008 x 1692 and I'm finding that's the best balance. Also, you have to look REALLY CLOSE to notice the sub-pixel layout color fringing (which also happens on PC).
@@JohnnyMcProbuy this or wait?? Thinking of the lg ultrgear 32 in

How did you get the sound when playing on a console and Mac? The lack of a 3.5mm jack is so annoying.

Are you still enjoying it? I’m axtuzlly in the market for an oled 16:9 with at least 32 inch to replace my g8 oled (need to connect a ps5 as well)
Anyway, i’m hesitating between this and a 42 inch philips or rog. (Same panel as the c2)
I can't decide which monitor to buy. Should I buy the alienware AW2725DF,AW3225QF or the msi mpg 271qrx?
I play multiplayer and story games equally, but currently more story games. Currently less multiplayer because I'm still waiting for my new internet connection. My current monitor is 13 years old and it's simply not worthy of my new 2k usd PC.
What would be the best soundbar option for this
I've got an M1 Max Macbook pro, how do you suggest I connect to this display. toget the full 240hz, as I don't have a 2.1 port on my mac? Maybe a thunderbolt converter to hdmi? And how did you calibate the display for the mac? Thanks!!
yeah, get the converter that has its own power supply so it can upgrade the signal from the M1 Max.
Does the monitor come with a vesa adapter?

Yes! Glad to hear of another 42 C2 owner enjoying this new QD-OLED. I’m sure they’ll fix the sRGB issue - not an issue for me - got mine set to P3 and all my games and content look spot on.
@@JohnnyMcProjust bought this monitor should i set hdr on ps5 cant do anything when hdr is on
What looks better to you on this monitor DCI-P3 or sRGB in on create mode and gamma level for each one?
Srgb is usually more accurate for most content. But if you like a more vibrant color, Dcip-3 is the way to go.
I always choose P3 because it’s a much wider color gamut and most modern day content is created with that color gamut in mind. This especially applies to photography and video production.
when you say calibrate for Mac, can you share your new settings?
So I guess you can't share?
since it has high pixel density, how is the text clarity on this monitor compared to other oled panels?

Did you disable HDR in PC prior to putting the setting in then enabling it again? Same for the PS5?
Yes, in order to change the Game setting, e.g., switching to Creator Mode, you have to first disable HDR on windows. Then , after selecting Creator mode, you can change it to DCI-P3 and gamma 2.2
When using your macbook pro, does it change the refresh rate to something lower like 60hz? Or does it stay at 120hz?
Anyone know?
Thanks
When first connected to a Mac, it defaults to 60hz, then you manually change it to 120hz
So you had no damage out of the box? I keep reading reviews citing the lack of a plastic film on the screen, leading to scratches upon delivery. I'm dying to get this monitor but I'm reluctant to order from Dell directly because of this.
The latest batches from Dell have plastic film on the screen to prevent micro scratches during shipping.
How do you think this compares to the innocm 32m2v? You can find it at half the price of the OLED and I'm unsure of which to choose. Can't decide on either higher peak brightness and decent local dimming vs lower peak and per pixel contrast
The overall quality for gaming is much higher with the Alienware. You get QD-OLED plus 240 hz. However, if you cannot afford the Alienware, and the 32m2v can be snagged using a good coupon code (currently $300 coupon on Amazon!), it's really a nice gaming display for the money, plus it calibrates really well for content creation!
@@JohnnyMcProare u suing hdr on console ?
Hi Mate, notice any color banding issues or flickering? Thinking about an upgrade from g8 oled because that issues. 7800x3d, 7900xtx here, thank you.
Not on mine!
Which monitor mode did you do your calibration in for photo editing?
Creator mode, DCI-P3, gamma at 2.2 - and then manually set brightness to 100%, then I calibrated.
Thank, why set to 100% brightness though? Doesn't the calibrator find the optimal brightness automatically?
What about that curve though? Manageable when doing desktop work. M current lg 32 does have a slight cast under angle so a slight curve should be nice. But is it oke?
Yes, once you adjust to the slight curve, you get used to it and it's a non issue. Going back to non-curved displays looks weird after you're on the Alienware!
What about burn-in? Are there any new features to prevent it if the monitor is used for productivity?
Yes, it has pixel shift and pixel refresh that runs every four hours. Combine that with a hidden dock and menu bar and a rotating desktop background and no worries - plus Dell gives you 3 years of burn-in warranty.
Did you have any flickering problem when connected to the Macbook Pro via HDMI? I have this monitor connected to the official Apple Dongle with HDMI, using the HDMI cable that came in with the monitor. The screen blinks from time to time, and the only thing to fix it is turning the monitor on and off. If the monitor goes back to sleep, and I wake it up, it flickers again, and only turning the monitor on and off again solves it. My Mac is the M1 Pro version though, so I'm getting 4k 60hz. I have no problem with this monitor on Windows 11 Pro (connected to a 4090 card).
Absolutely no issues with mine on both Mac and PC in terms of connectivity.
You used hdmi2.1 when hooking up the MacBook? I plan on using the display port for my PC and will be forced to use HDMI for my MacBook Pro daily driver. Did you have any issues with the hdmi? I've read some complaints.

i'm searching about this too
Hey, thanks for the video, I just bought this monitor because of your recommendation, didn't received it yet, if are able, can you help me with some know-how?
For instance, you said it will need calibration to make it perfect, I have no idea how to do that, can you make a tutorial teaching us how to calibrate this monitor on a Mac?
I'm going to be using this monitor solely on my Apple MacBook Pro 2023 M3 Max, which has a HDMI port and also 3 x Thunderbolt 4 ports. For the best results, should I plug the monitor via HDMI or on one the thunderbolt 4 ports, which I assume is a "Display Port"? Besides the cable shipped with the product, which includes a DisplayPort to DisplayPort 1.4, I have both a HDMI 2.1 Cable and a two-way Thunderbolt 4 Cable (wondering if it will fit on the DisplayPort port).
My brother said that if I were to use the Thunderbolt 4 cable to connect the monitor, I wouldn't even need to have the MagSafe Power Cable plugged in to the MacBook, as the monitor would already provide charging power to it.
In addition, another thing I didn't quite understood is Why there is an USB Type-A, USB Type-B and USB Type-C ports, would those ports perform the function of a "hub"? Am I going to be able to connect devices into those ports and have them connected to my MacBook Pro as if they were plugged in it directly?
In case I would be better off using an HDMI port to connect my display, what's the difference between the regular FRL HDMI 2.1 port and the FRL HDMI 2.1 port with eARC (what is this? Does it require an especial cable?)?
I am also planning on buying speakers, where should I connect them? Can the monitor output high-quality audio sourced from the HDMI connection and outsource it to the speakers (using which connection)?
Thank you very much.
Use HDMI directly to your M3 Max MacBook Pro for best connection. eARC is meant for home theatre audio (like a soundbar) and doesn't really matter in your situation since you can either use your laptop speakers, or connect a different audio source to your Mac. I may offer my calibration profile for a small donation to people. Main thing: make sure to use Creator Mode, and DCI-P3 color, gamma 2.2.

i know that 2.1 Hdmi and displayport 1.4 cables only support 4K 165hz and 120hz
that the highest thing they can go for
Display Stream Compression, it compresses the video being sent to the display. For a display like this the compression would be close to 3:1 for DP and 2:1 with HDMI
I'm running it via HDMI just fine - I am using this cable: amzn.to/48t7fYl
@@JohnnyMcPro Thats with DSC though, in his case he said he'd like native which isnt possible with any consumer card yet.
@@JordanCorkins DSC is a visually lossless compression looks really good but with that said hopefully the 5 thousand series will be able to run it native
where are the photos/art from 6:20 from? I would be interested to look up the artist or photographer. Thank you
I actually rendered those using AI
Pretty dope!
I see you have speakers on your desk, how do you have them connected with no Audio port available?
to the pc maybe?
@@eduardo_dito the PC would have to have an HDMI eArc/Arc connection for that to happen. Not sure how many PC’s have an Arc connection
Hell yeah! We also suggested Alienware in the latest issue of DVDvision. Way to go Johnny!
Awesome! I will be sure to check out your publication! Thanks for your support of my channel.
can you do a side by side between c2 42 inch and Alienware 32 to see the diffrence ?
Sure! I’ll plan on doing that. Any specific type of content or games in the side-by-side?
@@JohnnyMcPro game that support hdr will be good like lies of p and cyperpunk 2077 and sdr games as well and hdr vidoes that foucs on color and brightness will be good. Thank you in adavnce that will help a lot of people to choose between them
Mortal kombat 1 has impressive HDR and graphics
Second request for me as well Johnny. Thank You 👍💯 @@JohnnyMcPro
did you notice or have issues with the black flicker this monitor has?
I have not had those issues
@mgaming7 been using hdmi cable it came with got it saturday and ive had a flicker here and there, sometimes when closing a game youll get that quick black screen which is no different from all monitors ive used. When using hdmi every oled tv or monitor youll notice it from time to time. And to Johnny that was a great review thanks for keeping us in the loop.
price ??
Is there a fan and if so. How is it?
there is a fan, but I have not heard it yet from where I sit.
Is the integrated fan loud? Can you hear it?
nope, I never hear it
I wonder how the cooling is being taken care off. I know ASUS has there own solution for this, but what about this screen? Does it has a build-in fan, or a decent heat sink? It's getting pretty hot in this room during the summer, and i did read that this can reduce the lifespan of OLED.
Built-in fan
Hi what type of cooling is used on this monitor
It has a fan inside, but I cannot hear it.
How does the compare to the Samsung Neo g8?
have the neo g7 and i was blowing away how good oled looks. The neo g7 and g8 are still great monitors but ive been waiting for 240hz 4k oled. Bought it tested it and its a keeper.
Do you like this new Alienware 4k 32" over last year's AW3423DW 34"? I'm guessing so, but I'd be curious of a comparison. I am torn on the two different monitors. Love both. The 4k for resolution, but the 34" for field of view when gaming. Ugh. Can't keep both!
This new display is much better than the previous one IMHO, because it's a 3rd-gen panel, higher PPI, and more responsive overall.
I agree. Especially gaming on it the past several days. Totally in love with it and hope to sell my 34". Thank you! @@JohnnyMcPro
A video that would make millions of views: c2 vs this one. Side by side.
;)
I'm on it!
X2 to Johnny! Thanks man 👍💯
What model of speakers are those? Thanks!
Those are Edifiers, I have the powered s2000 pair and they are great
Speakers on my desk amzn.to/3MnNI2I
@@JohnnyMcPro thanks! Just ordered this monitor and was thinking about an eArc speaker. How are they connected to your PC? Looks like they are Bluetooth
Helpful review, ultimately i decied to not go with this and go for what I feel is the superior monitor - Asus ROG Swift PG32UCDM. It's about $100 more but frankly it seems to beat this monitor in just about every capacity.
That one is pretty awesome. Just did a review of the Asus!
I have the same !
Is this matte or glossy? Great review, thank you
glossy!
I have 42 C2, i find it hard to believe it can look better, i believe u but yeah it must be good to beat that.
Yes, the 42 C2 is in my opinion the benchmark as well - I'll do a side-by-side soon!
compared to my sony a90j i was surprised to be honest, i wouldnt say its better but just something about it just makes you smile. I think because its 3rd gen it just looks amazing.
Sadly it has a slightly dirty coating, just like the previous gen QD-OLEDs. It does not have the clarity of the glossy LG C2 for example or the glossy + gorilla glass monitors from Dough.
Good news about the lack of glossy image, I can't stand them to be honest. That's why I always buy Sony over Samsung.
@@dtrjones Lol, not everyone care about having the best PQ and clarity you can get. But this is still glossy, its just that it also have a slightly dirty AR-film.
How do you get 240hz in 4k? Turn down the graphics? Might as well get a 1440P
Depends on the game, Counter Strike, Doom Eternal, Quake Champions all run at full settings and 240hz in 4k. Others, you have to dial down settings. For games where you're getting 120-150 FPS, it still responds and feels faster due to lower latency and just the higher refresh rate (compared to my LG 42 C2 OLED)
thanks for the reply! Im about to bet mine friday! @@JohnnyMcPro
4k with DLSS on a native 4k display still looks better than any 1440p display.
how does this compare with lgc3 in terms of video quality? i know this will give a much better gaming performance but I still feel lgc342 is more of a grab than this
I'll be doing a video comparing this to the LC C2 42" - which should give you some idea...
This will be the perfect content for my next purchase. First oled monitor and I’m between the c3, 27 qd oled or this. I’m fading out of pc gaming due to the steep requirements/ cost and unless the qd oled monitors look that much better I’d think the tv size would be the best option. Hard to pass up 42inch monitor
I've heard it had a loud fan. Is it true ?
I have yet to hear it! It’s dead silent.
how did you calibrate it?
Calibration tool I used: 👉🏼 amzn.to/47DCJty
