This is the NEW 18 carat yellow gold version of the Oyster Perpetual Sky-Dweller, fitted the first time with an Oysterflex bracelet. The watch is also the first in the Classic category of Rolex to include this innovative bracelet made of high-performance elastomer. It also features a bright black, sunray-finish dial with hands and hour markers in 18 carat yellow gold. The light reflections on the case sides and lugs highlight the refined profile of the 42 mm #OysterCase.
The Oyster Perpetual Sky-Dweller is an elegant watch for frequent-travelers. The Sky-Dweller displays the zone-time in two time zones simultaneously and has an annual calendar. The reference time, in 24-hour format, is shown via an off-centre disc, and the local time is read using conventional centre hands. The annual calendar, named #Saros, automatically differentiates between 30- and 31-day months. It is operated by a patented mechanism and stands out for its innovative display: the months of the year are indicated in 12 apertures around the circumference of the dial, with the current month marked in red. The instantaneous date change is linked to the local time.
The #OysterPerpetualSkyDweller is equipped with the fluted, rotatable bezel unique to this watch, which is used to set the watch in conjunction with the #RingCommand system. It also has a #Chromalight display. This means that the hands and hour markers are coated or filled with a luminescent material that emits a long-lasting blue glow in dark conditions.
The Sky-Dweller is powered by the Calibre 9001. It is a movement entirely developed and manufactured by Rolex. With multiple patents filed, this mechanical, self-winding movement is one of the most complex calibres created by the brand. Its architecture, manufacturing and innovative features make it exceptionally precise and reliable.The Rolex #Calibre9001 has a blue #Parachrom hairspring manufactured by Rolex in an exclusive paramagnetic alloy that makes it up to 10 times more precise than a traditional hairspring in case of shocks. The blue #Parachromhairspring is equipped with a Rolex overcoil, ensuring the calibre’s regularity in any position. The oscillator is fitted on the Rolex-designed and -patented high-performance #Paraflex shock absorbers, increasing the movement’s shock resistance. The Calibre 9001 is equipped with a self-winding module via a Perpetual rotor and offers a power reserve of approximately 72 hours.
The Sky-Dweller is fitted with an Oysterflex bracelet, which singularly combines the robustness and reliability of a metal bracelet with the flexibility, comfort and aesthetics of an elastomer strap. Developed and patented by Rolex, this innovative bracelet is made up of flexible metal blades manufactured from a titanium and nickel alloy. The blades are overmoulded with high-performance black elastomer, a material that is particularly resistant to environmental effects and very durable. For enhanced comfort, the inside of the Oysterflex bracelet is equipped with longitudinal cushions.
The Oysterflex bracelet features a folding #Oysterclasp in 18 carat yellow gold, designed and patented by Rolex. In addition, it features the Rolex #Glidelock extension system, also developed and patented by the brand. This particularly inventive mechanism comprises a rack located under the clasp cover and a toothed sliding link that locks into the chosen notch. The Rolex Glidelock on the Oysterflex bracelet has six notches of approximately 2.5 mm, allowing the length of the bracelet to be adjusted easily, and without tools, up to some 15 mm.
Like all Rolex watches, the Sky-Dweller carries the #SuperlativeChronometer certification. These certification tests apply to the fully assembled watch, after casing the movement, guaranteeing superlative performance on the wrist in terms of precision, power reserve, waterproofness and self-winding. The precision of a Rolex Superlative Chronometer is of the order of −2/+2 seconds per day, or more than twice that required of an official chronometer.

This combination is gorgeous! It seems a little too much with the gold bracelet. The black Oysterflex band changes the entire look. IMO
Gold case and gold bracelet is a bit heavy IMHO... the deep black mat look and the warm gold color go together well ... the comfort of the Oysterflex strap (bracelet) is unparalleled... you should try it on your wrist to experience that feeling personally...

This looks more practical to wear and versatile. The one with the gold bracelet will be too loud and also pretty heavy in comparison. Also the contrast is striking especially in this yellow gold black dial model.

When I first saw the photos, I wasn't sure. But it looks nice on the Oysterflex. Gives the watch a sportier look.
Normally a rubber strap always has a kind of flaw... not in case of the Oysterflex ... it is simply perfect...

Lovely comfortable ‘rubber’ strap took a look at one on a gold Yachtie recently. Very nice interesting complication from the Maison Rolex.
Rubber normally gets a bit sticky when worn all day long... What Rolex did invent and now manufactures really is outstanding...
The Sky Dweller would be a grail for me if only it wasn't so large. I appreciate the addition of the rubber to the line tho, that's a great move.

Nice video, but I wish you would have expanded on the glide lock, previously it was only on the sub and now seems it's trickling down. Also seems it was less than 1.9cm of sub. On other watches it's only a quick adjust with 0.5cm adjustability

Great video, well presented. My question for rubber straps in general. As rubber ages it becomes brittle how will these rubber straps hold up?
The quality Rolex offers is sublime ... It will take years and heavy use until you see any changes to the status of new...

Maybe it grows on me, but the Oysterflex on such a dressy watch just looks wrong. It made sense on the Yacht Master. And would make sense on the GMT II, Sub, Explorer I and II. But it just seems wrong on the Skydweller and probably DateJust as well.

It will be interesting to see if the rubber strap makes it to some of the more mainstream stainless steel models.
The thing is you have to experience the Oysterflex bracelet (not strap) on your wrist... Only then you understand how comfortable to wear it is and how cool it looks...
This makes me very happy to own the all steel version. Probably the most underwhelming part of their recent release.

Beautiful watch just have never been a fluted bezel fan but thats just me. My other issue is it's price. There is a lot of high horological pieces out there when you get up in that price range.

If Rubber B manufactures the Oysterflex we will never know since Rolex will not unveil whom they are working with... So it will stay PURE speculation... The bracelet is sold in a regular size and some additional sizes small & big...

WatchAdvisor I think the lug holes are drilled in different spots? Same reason why you can't have a precious metal Daytona with a ceramic bezel on a bracelet.

I could see the rubber strap with a stainless watch, (Or even white gold), but it just looks odd to me on a yellow gold watch 🤔.

In my opinion, what would make all Rolex watches better, apart from lower prices (yes I am not holding my breath), would be a see through back.
Who doesn't love not only winding a watch, but looking at the mechanism working. :-)
Rolex will probably never offer its watches with a see through back. There are literally encapsulating their movements and therewith protecting them against a potential negative influence of short-wave and long-wave light ...

I can't make any general statements about the lifespan ... but I can assure you whatever might be the average lifespan of a rubber strap, the Rolex quality will top it... This is for sure the best rubber strap (it is officially called bracelet by Rolex) I have ever seen...

Until I get one I will be like the resident _ghost_ at my AD - and the only exorcism for those poor guys will be delivery! (I've already spooked em with 24K Sterling of spending since end of lockdown. There will be no scintilla of mercy for their accounts department until they break down and sell me that 124060. Oh yes! WatchAdvisor I just find it gaudy and gratuitous in all gold. The crenellations of the bezel (dressy) also clash with the strap (sporty). It’s in extreme design conflict, in a highly visible color (gold). Hence my Invicta comment.

Great video, but please don't call it a "rubber strap", as it is a two-piece titanium bracelet with a rubber coating. It is a bona fide bracelet.

I have this Sky Dweller and I hate the Oysterflex strap. I like the alligator strap a lot more.

@@WatchAdvisor Because it looks cheap. It looks like a 10.00 rubber band on a $40,000 watch. That and that doesn't go together. And also because it has rubber wing things on the inside of the band that rub and dig into my skin. The alligator strap looks much cleaner and nice to me. It gives the watch a more high end, luxury look and feel. And it's very comfortable on my wrist. I know Rolex stopped making the alligator strap but I wish they'd bring it back.

Have you never worn a full gold watch it is not as wearable as rubber and gives less sensitivity to skin than leather. Some people on this post need to come up to date and stop living in the past lol.
