you made the right choice. I loved 80s music when I grew up, but I spent much of the 90s, 00s and early 10s pretending to give a damn about modern music just to fit in. So I lost out on nearly 3 decades of enjoyable music listening. Thanks to Spotify and RUclips, I now know much more 80s music now than I ever did in my life during the actual 80s.
Almost Parallel. Two up and coming West Coast/Pacific bands fronted by two talented and alluring ladies; both have a following before Major Labels sign them; Corporation steps in to market and promote, then the rollercoaster ride begins. Name and personnel changes, hit records, gain and lose fans, Music Industry changes circa 1983-'84, Label support wanes without any new hits, by 1985 the damage is done and suddenly you don't hear them on the radio or see videos on MTV or then new VH-1. But that's Showbiz 🤷🏿♂️
We appreciated them..they were hard, snappy, aggressive and She was easy on the eyes😅! For a Hard Rock- Heavy guy, you hadda grab me by the collar.. They did....Matt NYC
I was commercial fishing on the Aleutians for the entire summer when this album came out. Any song by QF can transport me directly back to that moment. I was lovesick over a guy named Brett F. My early twenties were an interesting time of emotional learning.
I've always been amazed that Quarterflash didn't end up huge international superstars. imo the degree of talent here is astonishing. And bringing a saxophone and even a violin into Pop/Rock music is balls to the wall. :)
Tim, they had a hit in the 70's. Few people know that before they morphed into quarterflash they actually had a hit called "magic" At the time they were known as Pilot...look it up
Ben Breeg Hi Ben - that was actually a different band. There were 2 Pilot bands in the 1970's. I believe there was another in the 1990s lol! The band that gave us the Top 10 "Magic" is actually from Scotland.
Ben Breeg Brandon Hixson is correct. The Pilot we know for the hit song Magic is indeed from Scotland. They were formed by half of the Bay City Rollers who had left well before the Bay City Rollers really hit the big time. You did a great thing here though in bringing up Pilot's Magic. People need to check that track out if they are younger or do not know it. Equally as impressive and important as Quarterflash in my book. The vocals and harmonies on it are perfect.
MechanicalAnimal Thanks for mentioning that great song, I had totally forgot about it but came back to me quick. I remember my sisters playing that song when I was a little kid, hated it then, but as we all know tastes change with time and in the end it grew on me.
the saxophone and violin with the electric guitar are absolutely amazing, it's great to learn that they're still a couple and still performing after five decades
Rindy had the whole package...the beauty, the voice, and throw in real musical talent with the sax...Quarterflash made some of the best music of their era. Rindy should have became a whole lot bigger star.
It must have been so tough to compete in such a crowded space. I always dug their sound, I’m a sucker for anytime a group can fit in a saxophone. Especially when a beautiful lady is playing it!
If I could go back to the 80's I would never leave them. I would just keep repeating them. I dont even care what age I would be, as long as I could walk, talk and hear
Same, but I need to add the ‘70’s too. I realised tho, in my wish to still be able to remember everything I know now, so I don’t make the same mistakes again, that there was some good music that I wanted to take with me, then realised CD’s would be useless, so that’ll be a fair few mixed tapes and entire CDs transferred onto cassette before I go.

But yes I’ve said that so many times I would just keep living in the 80s over and over and over. So much on this. And I know I could easily adapt to not having all this technology we have today. Just to be back and a happier time for me. Even though it wasn’t perfect for a lot of People. That’s why there’s so many time travel books that have been written. I think we all get that feeling. I really do totally agree with you.
I asked my nieces if they could go back in time to relive their life, but not remember what will happen, would they relive their lives over again OR reincarnate in to another person, in another time, in another location. They all said yes, they would take the second option. For me, I want to relive my life over again, with all the bad things and good things, exactly over again and would do it again and again. What a fantastic time to be a teenager. The 80's were really good for everything, including hearing this song for the first time on the radio.
Jr. High in 82 too. Man you have the electric violin, electric guitar and sax all in one song. 82 one of the best years for rock and synth. It quickly changed.

I was stunned when Quarterflash hit the scene in the early 80's. Fantastic sound! I'm still just as knocked out now as I was then. No one else like them anywhere today. Just classic music, great vocals, super lyrics! Rock on Quarterflash!!!

I don't know if you could have gone on for another hour, but you could have gone on another 30 seconds to include Linda Ronstadt! 🤨🤣
Quarterflash and The Motels are my favorite 80s “should have been bigger” bands. ❤
Rindy and Martha!

Oh Yeah! I’m 67 and still have a crush on Rindy.
I certainly can understand , myself being 72 years old.
40 years later whos still loving this power ballad!;
God damn right.
Linda demais.
The music of the 80's will not be matched!

Her and her band were so unappreciated. Pure Talent.

Very underrated
Quarterflash should have been much bigger. They were fantastic!
Yes
but they were from portland, not LA.
But they would still be just a memory in the mind of today’s pop culture, simply because that style of music isn’t ‘allowed’ to be heard anymore.
Fuck today's culture I'm listening to it right now
