This Week in Volcanoes; Taal Erupts, Volcano Reawakens in the Galapagos Islands

- Right now, there are 49 volcanoes actively erupting on the planet. This week, the Taal volcano in the Philippines produced a new volcanic eruption. On the Galapagos island of Fernandina, its central shield volcano is about to erupt. Meanwhile, in the Canary Islands, the eruption of the La Palma / Cumbre Vieja eruption is now in its 64th day. Additionally, off the eastern coast of Mayotte, magma is intruding into the crust, generating a swarm of earthquakes. This video will discuss these volcano related news stories, as told and analyzed by a volcanologist.

In the Galapagos Islands, three volcanoes are showing signs of uplift. Although Fernandina is showing the most significant uplift, Cerro Azulo and Sierra Negra are also being actively uplifted. As for why the raised alert status at Vulcano was not included in this week's video? It will be receiving a dedicating video on Tuesday.

The reason we're having so many volcanos is because we've pumped so much oil out the ball bearings the earth has at the poles are drying out and generating friction. When the bearings seize everything will fly eastwards. I suggest putting props and braces on the east side of everything. 😂

@@langelle1 Thinking about it, normal eruptions should alter Earth's orbit around the Sun by minimal amounts.

They say,we receive what we give...and we are restless people,never let the grounds rest,never let one another rest,traffic around the world always up and about...trains,commerce going on,everything,all around the world,put activities with our trade systems make the earth. Restless place,it's probably it's way of finally defending itself,destroying all we've done to it,so that it can finally rest,for some time atleast. No doubt,we are oblivious about the pain and suffering we cause to other things and beings if it is not right next to us,in close proximity. Sad to say,we were supposed to be connected to the divine,to be able to see all the things connected to us,never blind as to see how we can cause pain and suffering wether directly or indirectly
Someone should always mention - if there were NOT 40 to 60 volcanoes active on our planet, that would be very unusual.
And without the volcanoes we wouldn't be here the trees wouldn't be a big role and we need all natural disasters you can't stop nature people can only prepare for it and hope it's not too big
I hope the Fernandina volcano doesn't erupt anytime soon. A female Fernandina Tortoise was recently found on that island. It would really suck if all that work was for nothing. I get that nature has to happen, but damn.......
I’m genuinely stressed now.
On the other hand, sub-species that evolve in micro-eco systems, by their very natures, must be appearing and disappearing from their proximity to volcanoes when that microcosm IS a volcanic island.
Absolutely love these news-style updates! Hopefully if Fernandina erupts, there will be some nice livestreams to watch, I bet it will be quite the fun one to watch with a lot less destruction to worry about than La Palma.
Its really scary that Taal is still not stopping i live 90km away from the volcano at NCR but it still scary as in the history of Taal Pyroclastic Flow still reached some parts of NCR

I hope fernandina is a small eruption. There a very rare extremely cool tortoise on the island. Its unique to the island and was thought to be extinct for over 100 years. I hope we can save the species.
If it does erupt, keeping that rare tortoise safe would be a main priority. Luckily, given its small numbers temporarily protecting/transporting it off the island shouldn’t be a major issue

The Taal volcano is definitely a dangerous volcano because of all the water around it. Many phreatic eruptions is a given.
Locals should take note , and there are a lot living way too close to it, if indeed it starts a longer period of activity.

If the pinatubo came back to life after dormancy. Will not create a new caldera. Instead it erupting serious andesidic basaltic lava, created a new lava dome or could erupt basaltic andesidic lava into the surface but only in non-explosive manner or (lava fountaining) or flood basaltic even

@@KaiserStormTracking correct, but most likely will remain small. Uplift is occurring but it seems insufficient to cause a large eruption at the moment. This could change with short notice however due to the complexity of Taal

What is the largest number of errupting volcanoesat the same time historically? Which ones and where were they located?
Unknown number. I can say when though. Between 7,000-9,000 years ago volcanic activity drastically increased due to crustal rebound from melting glaciers

It's more like 27 today with a few others with warnings or minor activity.
And I just read that about half the inhabitants of the Italian island of Vulcano were moved off the island due to increased activity.
I know that at least 150-250 were evacuated. Unsure if that figure is people or “families” however. Expect a vulcano update video Tuesday

I don't recall taal currently going off. Last I heard was January 2020
The 2020 eruption is part of the eruptions this year and is considered the 2020-21 Taal volcanic eruption. Taal tends to erupt over the course of multiple years

One of its minor uplift cycles is ongoing. Was covered in a previous weekly update. Large caldera systems have frequent years long uplift/subsidence cycles over large areas which are not truly notable.

Just learnt that the most dangerous Volcano on the planet isn't in Indonesia. It's one I've never heard of, called Taal in the Philippines. Oh goody, researching our new fiery suffocating death then ! ☹️
