  • Music by Ivor Novello words by Christopher Hassall.
    My cover score : www.mediafire....
Ivor Novello was the first British superstar of stage and screen. A composer, pianist, organist, songwriter, playwright, singer and stage and screen actor, his music was immensely popular in the 1st half of the 20th century. This despite the fact that his stage musicals mostly in the jazz age of the 1930s and 40s were old fashioned in musical style reminiscent of the composers of operettas such as Franz Lehar.
    "My Dearest Dear
If I could say to you
    In words as clear
As when I play to you
    You'd understand
How sleight the shadow is holding us apart
    So take my hand
I'll lead the way for you
A Little waiting and you'll reach my heart
Your lonely hours will spread their wings and fly
The passing showers will always pass you by
If you can trust me trust the secret in my song
    When love is true
    The road is never long"

Haven’t heard this for YEARS Steve !!! Ivor Novello’s melodies have a unique charm and beauty to them and you have captured his lyrical quality so tenderly 👍🏻 love the old film filter as well - very nice effect 👌🏻 lovely end to the day. Thanks for sharing. G

Thank you Gareth🙏 It's not really the best suited of his songs for a piano solo as such but there a such a sense of emotion and nostalgia to it.
