They Probably don't know what it is, or WHY it's beeping. I wonder what their home owner's insurance would say when you're supposed to TEST the damn thing every week or two weeks!
If thy are elderly, they might no even hear it. I had to buy special ones because most are high pitched and they're beyond my hearing range. My cat can hear it fine, as if one goes off she runs under the bed.
Probably a rental….tenants don’t maintain anything and the landlords typically don’t care until they’re getting complaints that it’s not working…a tenant wouldn’t know what to do but to call the landlord…home owners…are either used to being able to call the dude who does that sort of thing…if it’s a single female obviously not all of them know or care what it takes to have ac…. As long as it’s working…this concept is also why I’m picky about the used vehicles I buy lol….hearing more and more men saying doesn’t it come with oil? lol…yeah…even the guys are like that nowadays
I went on a call last summer (Customer Reported, Fan Not Turning) I get there and there was a huge "rat snake' wrapped around the condenser fan motor, cut up in a few places, it was nasty
Crispy snake, I'm surprised it didn't short something out. That evaporator did look clogged up and the blower was filthy. That's going to be a fun one, glad you got the job.
old Hissy and other rodents generally cannot carry enough current to trip a breaker/open a fuse, but could damage the conductor/terminal it's receiving power from.
Perhaps simply cleaning the blower assembly and pulling the coil to clean. Clean the outside coils as well and then give it another try. Wasn't that far off (SC). A good cleaning. Obviously the return air filter was all wrong. Also, give them a lesson on how to change filters and what size to get as well. Let it cool the rest of the summer. If it's failing towards fall, you gave it a college try before simply replacing the equipment which any one year wonder parts changer can do.
I would blame it on the "high value homes and areas" he's servicing, but, I have been in high end to multi-million dollar homes with "CHIRP CHIRP CHIRP", yep, same stupidity all over the place. sometimes it's end of life CO detectors beeping and they've actually changed the batteries.
Could the coil not be cleaned? Just curious. I couldn’t see it as well obviously as you, but I think I would have tried that first, I’ve cleaned a many of them in my day. Not been to many times I had to go to the extreme of replacing it but I have had them where someone one didn’t know how to clean it and damaged it so badly I had to replace it.
Are heat pumps different? When you have a TXV, it’s SC that is the concern. SH is for no TXV It was a liquid line restriction and he’s replacing the evap. lol It was either the TXV or the filter dryer for those numbers
When you are talking about a Heat Pump which coil is the evaporator and which is the condenser? Also was that a 120 volt snake or a 220 volt snake? Man! What a discovery. You always keep it interesting.
Was the filter in the wrong spot on this?would appear to me that this is a down flow unit. The solid door on bottom appears correct and the louver door above seem right as it would draw from there to pull over the coil and down through the fan into the supply duct. But the filter should be behind the door with louvers not behind a solid door that encloses the motor housing. 👍👍🇨🇦
Curtis, do you charge your customers for the diagnosis even if you end up getting the job to replace the equipment? Is it 2 separate transactions or added all together?
@@SickaMorStyle it did appear to be a liquid line restriction, but he didn't really show how he got from point A to point B. Then, if it's a liquid line restriction, why is he replacing a whole coil?

I will change their batteries if I notice it when I'm on a service call. I lost some friends in a house fire because they didn't have functional smoke alarms.
I’ve seen the same thing on a heat pump pull fuse…they put a piece of copper in the place of the fuse and a little snake was coiled up around it fried…lol…that freaked me out! Lol
I work on hot tubs and I see snake skins in anything older than 5 years. I'd says the snakes are coiled up in the corner about 20 percent fo the time. 5 percent staring you in the face. And 75 no where to be found. I'm talking 6ft skins.
Don't the snakes add to the electrical charge of the capacitors, probably would have worked better if it was still alive instead of crispy, and painted evaporators are insulated better. Pretty sure that a lot of the renters are not aware to change filters regularly instead of removing them or just don't care because they are renting.
Evaporator was low pressure because you left the panel off. So you were doing bypass to the avaporator pressure is going to drop. And the coil is going to freeze.
Incorrect brother mobile homes usually have down flow and just pull through a filter grill where the evap is and on down most mobile homes are set up like that split system of course
That there is why you should ground out the capacitor before testing it. The snake must not have read the books😪, How can you live with a beeping smoke detector!
Why are people so dam lazy to keep the compressor unit clean and free of the dam garbage all over it. And changing the filters. You get what you pay for. 😂😂
Hey…it’s easy to space off…even when the home owner is good at maintenance….sometimes bigger issues come first and it slips the mind…especially in older homes and mobile homes that are constantly needing maintenance…and it’s a pain when u have to make ur own filters cuz they don’t sell the size u need anymore lol…that’s how odd and possibly out of date some furnaces and ac’s are but if it’s not broken u know…

I bet the dirty blower wheel cut the air flow by 40 or 50%.-
Looks like they put the covers on backwards (vented should be on bottom). And yet another chirping fire alarm.
Fires are soooo overrated!
I Swear I Hear the Chirping at the Outdoor Unit so obviously the Customer has the Windows Open. 😬👍
Amazing isn't it. So many calls with the chirping. How do they stand it?That is some serious lazy folks out there.

Sometimes
What was the problem? Why is the coil being replaced? Seems like there was a restriction or a bad txv.
I agree, but there was paint all over that coil too...and the coil comes with a TXV. That's most likely why.
@numchux2 well, he never really explained what was wrong, so it's kind of confusing the way it abruptly ended.
That’s EXACTLY what I was thinking. Hopefully he’s installing a new dryer too
@@realSamAndrewit was a liquid line restriction. He didn’t test the bulb or the dryer. The filter dryer could’ve deteriorated and plugged up the txv🍻

I would not be able to do that kind of work. Customers rarely take any thought about maintenance or keeping things clean.

I recommend not drinking. They be called Spirits for a reason
