If you are a member of a gang and not stupid, than the first thing you realize is: gangster always talk about honor because they have to compensate for the fact, that they have zero and know this subconsciously.
This is true for the world beyond the gang: There is simply no honor in making a living by destroying other peoples life. Since there is no crime without a victim.
And this is even more true inside a gang.
Ganglife is all about the money.
And the talk about "loyalty" and "family" is there to prevent you from realizing that a gang is the most capitalist thing in existence: very view on the top get rich, 99% get played and die young and poor.
And why is it that easy to play these guys? Because they never had a real family and therefore hunger for a feeling of belonging and also cant know, that a family wont use them.
So why should you stay loyal to a business, that is evil in itself and unjust towards you?
Listen when he is asked how many time he spent with his kids....

My cousin came out from LA to live with us. You visited our house multiple times but you had a large amount of respect for my pops. Some dude threw up the CV at my pops and my dad pointed him out on the block and you checked him cause obvious my pops wasn’t affiliated. You were always respectful man. If this is the same Loco from my memory. Man it’s good to see you on this channel. Regardless of the violent and criminal life you chose you always had respect for those that weren’t affiliated and we actually felt like you were the blocks body guard. Lmao. This is the reason I moved away from my hometown. My cousin was the same, has a loving and supportive family. He was a star athlete but still chose to join a gang.
When he decided to get out shit got real bad, and since we lived in a duplex with them, we witnessed everything...drive by shootings, setting cars on fire, tagging our cars, and my dad almost getting shot.
I have those memories engrained in mind and I hated him for it. I hated how selfish he was for choosing the thug life over his family. It shaped who I am today but I wish I never experienced it.

Thanks for the interview Mark. Bobby is a very likeable but
mysterious guy. I can't imagine what it takes to spend 11 years in isolation. Not at all. The way he talks so nonchalantly about it...
Looks can be so deceiving. Maybe it's the way he's wearing his hat, backwards with his ears sticking out . He looks so young and nice. Your black and white portrait was quite a contrast. Wow. Two different people.
I just wonder what age a person can retire from the gang? Why couldn't he just retire and go on to give talks to 'at risk' youth. Tell them what isolation for 11 years feels like. And how you'll never be the same after that.
He is such a personable guy, he could make a big difference with young people.

To me, he is both admirable and terrifying. It's amazing how well spoken he is and how honest is about his life choices. But it's terrifying because you know because of his philosophy and choices that if you were between him and what he wanted....he would not hesitate to kill you.

This individual is 100% satisfied with his choices in life. He won't do anything differently. He's terrifying because he knows without a doubt that the gang bang lifestyle is his only path he'll ever take, and he'll do anything to anyone if it means staying on that path. The majority of his life has been spent in prison, so he knows no different.

I'm from Monterrey, Mexico, a country right in the border with USA, and many years ago when I was young I used to work in a call center where I met a lot of mexicans who were gang members from California who get deported or for some reason came back to Monterrey and they where a lot of them because they know english so thats what they were looking for in that kind of jobs to basically take calls in english for customer service and sales and that stuff, you know, USA corps usually locate their call centers in Mexico or India because we can speak english but they pay us way less than if we were in USA.
So, coming back to the point, a lot of this guys were exactly like Bobby and I hanged out with them, and something I can tell is loyalty is true for them, even though I had nothing to do with gangs or their life style, just for the simple reason that I treated them well, they always had my back and made me feel as I was a part of them, they called me hommie, and most of them were very respectful and loyal and never forced me to do something I didn't wanted to just to be part of the gang, they accepted me as a friend knowing I don't want to have anything to do with gangs except smoking weed and they were fine with it and I get that loyalty part.
I'm 40 now, that was when I was like 23, and a few years ago when I was like 35 I moved to a hood that was kind of ghetto because the rent was cheap, so anyways, I made friends with this neighbours who are youngsters from gangs and that life style, but oh boy, what a mistake, this young gangsters are nothing like the old ones I knew, they know nothing about loyalty or honor or respect, so short story, I had to move from there inmediately and never made the same mistake again.
Sadly Bobby is right, loyalty is something that is getting lost from this life style, and I can dare to say, in the whole society nowadays.

Textbook example of what Corrections Officers know all to well, "Con Games" or "Inmate Manipulation Games." This guy speaks very well, almost enough to let your guard down. Do some research on this topic. COs are taught to recognize this and defend against it.

Well, the one thing l learned about “Loyalty” when I was a Gang Member and also while doing Time in Prison is that THERE IS NO LOYALTY IN GANGS OR IN PRISON!!! That is why I left the Gang. The only successful Gang Member is a FORMER Gang Member.

Being a member is weak anyway. I was always the leader…still am. Just not leading the gang anymore…I lead my family now.

i long time ago i CHOSE not to be a criminal. I was about 20 at the time. "My thinking was, the world is already messed up... why add someone intelligent and confident like me to the criminal underground... so i actually chose to be a good person and make the best of it" glad i did.
