I grew up in SANTANA as whiteboy in the 80’s and was a minority in elementary and jr high, gangs everywhere just like he claims! I left in 90(18yrsold) because I knew if I stayed my life would get swallowed by the game, a good majority of the people I was around outside of my close friends are either dead from the violence or locked up for life! I’ve had a good life since with a lot of work to get there.
He is genuine because he readily admits he enjoys the lifestyle and despises conventional life. He reminds me of my sister, who was incarcerated for over 5 years and just could not live a normal life. It is very difficult for some people, but they never come right out and say it.
It’s not just about poverty. It’s also about sadism. He LIKED the helplessness of his desperate buyers. It gave him a high. If he had a conscience he would have felt bad for the drug users caught in the web addiction, losing so much, having so little self-control. Ruining their future just because the urge was unmanageable. Even now he smiles when he recounts the days... cold hearted man.
Im sorry but this narrative is nonsense. If your addicted to something that doesnt reduce autonony of your actions. You still choose to buy what hes selling.
Good parents but a lot of free time. That tells me his parents had to work 2 and 3 jobs just to pay bills so there wasn't someone around to raise him. Mexicans are the hardest working people I know. No person should have to work more than one job and miss out on raising their kids
“ Drugs are powerful.” I think he meant addiction is powerful. But none the less this man’s honesty I appreciate and thank him for sharing a peek into his world of drug dealing, addiction and where he is at today. He found enjoyment in the feeling of having control over people and them needing him to care about them. Having that kind of control is what he misses. Again thank you for your honesty.
I just happened to hear Mark say, "Maybe if you had grown up in one of the Dakotas or Maine, you might not have fallen into this path. I encourage you Mark if you are ever up in Maine, go to downtown Bangor or Lewiston and interview some people there. I've watched places in Maine become over run with drugs. It's so sad to watch it change before my very eyes. Our homeless population is out of control. There were people living in tents this winter, in Maine, with snow, ice, below freezing temperatures. I'd love to see you interview some people in Maine if you can someday.
You can’t compare the gang culture in LA to whatever is in Maine .. seriously it’s ingrained in the Mexican, African culture .. generations of families in gangs
He’s absolutely right when he says it’s all about the power trip. Being in a gang definitely gives you that sense of belonging to a tight knit powerful family but in reality it’s a false sense of security in the way that you are only as good as what you can do for them. There’s a fine line between fear and respect. It can be a very alluring way of life and very hard to break free from like a drug. The high you get from the “respect” people give you everywhere you go is not really respect but fear which is the other part of the whole twisted allure. Some people even worship these gang members and aspire to be them. Steer clear if you don’t want to straight ruin your life.
I absolutely agree, fear and respect are two very different things. Respect is something I chose to give to others. Fear is something they force on me. I don't know how high up in the system this guy are, but some of the people high up can do whatever they want. There are also torpedoes and money collectors that go through life like bulldozers. This interview was amazing and inspirational. It explains so well why people will turn to a life of crime and quick money vs. what many would see as a droning "normal" life.
Well, when you grow up in an environment in which you’re battling monsters daily you become hardened. Then, you get locked up and battle even more hardened monsters. So, at some point you assume a role of survival of the fittest mindset. This isn’t a guy that has to worry about the school bully taking his lunch money like we envision on tv.
“Poor” people trying to take shortcuts with crime and then blaming it on being poor. Whereas the majority of people who came from those same communities are not criminals and have developed a career of some sort.
I am so confused, for 20 minutes he talks about dealing drugs, the power tripping, how drugs are terrible... and then after 20 minutes talk about being a junkie, overdosing on heroin and speed? Huh? It's like he opened up and started being honest after a while or something
A lot of drug dealers end up using the very drugs they sell. I was a coke dealer for a small cartel for 7 years. Now im homeless and addicted to fentanyl. Vicious cycle.

Wow to all the comments saying he seems nice and friendly. You are not good judges of character 😮 this guy seems like a small child that had no love from his father and thus is terrified of the world.. he probably must supress this terror through rage which he probably takes out mostly on the closest ones. Conditional 'love', which is basically what gang membership is, is better than none to some. Even to those with more than enough going for them, and with love, it's magnetic because of the power.
I grew up in Santa Ana, I moved out when I was about 14. I was in a gang but it wasn't anything too serious but sometimes I think what if I didn't move to Temecula. After school I would go out do mischievous things without supervision. I suspect my grandparents who took care of me were too busy and expected me to be "playing". Sometimes I wonder if I would have been like these people, someone formed by circumstance and poor decisions. Growing up my uncle would tell us stories of his gang life and he would joke about my grandparents phrase " otra ves" which means, again. Since my uncle was a gang member people would shoot up my grandparents home and every time my grandpa would yell "OTRA VES". It became a funny story but when you really think about it, its sad. Luckily no one was ever hurt.
He’s such a smart man and had so many fascinating stories from his life and being apart of a gang. If he wants to start living better which seems like he’s starting and trying too he could really be great!! And have a wonderful rest of his life with his children you can tell he really loves them and wants the absolute best for his family. We’re all praying for you junior !!!
When you give advice and they see you are not following it, that's when you say, "DO AS I SAY NOT AS I DO" , God bless you bro!
A guy with such a brain, waisted part of his life. I hope he succeeds
*Wasted
Mark ❤️ u do such great interviews. Thanks for bringing RUclips the real
“Poor” people trying to take shortcuts with crime and then blaming it on being poor. Whereas the majority of people who came from those same communities are not criminals and have developed a career of some sort.
Finally a guy who's honest and doesn't just whine about his situation or what caused it
I am so confused, for 20 minutes he talks about dealing drugs, the power tripping, how drugs are terrible... and then after 20 minutes talk about being a junkie, overdosing on heroin and speed? Huh?
It's like he opened up and started being honest after a while or something
A lot of drug dealers end up using the very drugs they sell. I was a coke dealer for a small cartel for 7 years. Now im homeless and addicted to fentanyl. Vicious cycle.
Mark changed gears in the interview and asked him what the lowest point of his life was.
He never denied being a user.
I know people this guy is full of it .
“Bad people” surround most of us, but most of us don’t become gang members. We are responsible for our own choices and actions.
And he said, many times, that he was responsible for his decisions.
If you grew up where I did you’d probably be a gang member too
It's 3am here in Cali. I can't effen sleep
😑... its ok... im also in cali but im on a work break 😑
@@NAT-turners-Revenge
Work break here in GA, 7am
Sad how he said, He doesn’t have many good memories!! How he mentioned he would have become a doctor. Maybe helped ppl instead of hurting ppl!! Good luck Junior
I LOVE that mark uses square so casually in conversation
I'm from North Dakota. ND is very different from LA but We do have gangs, human trafficking crisis right now and the opioid crisis here is insane. As an ER nurse, the number one patients I receive are from drug overdoses. ND has everything you see on this channel, but it is very much hidden. Fentanyl is the number one drug in my state. It's now a huge problem in our community. Alcoholism is considered the norm where I live, unfortunately. ND has what you need for great content! I will show you all the hot spots this summer. Just DM me!
Gangs in LA are WAAAAAYY different then ND…Its like comparing oranges to apples
@@Tengohuevos_Vergacuelga13 Yeah. The gangsters in ND are sly. Not as open as they can be in CA. CA is softer on gang
@@MsHillsdale Idk about that
Los Angeles is where its at homegirl
@@MsHillsdale California is the Gang capital you can't compare these gangs to those soft azz gangs from these different states not to mention we politic in the streets and in the pen over here in Cali, other states don't they're messy, unstructured, and unorganized.
So interesting to listen to some who blame their environment and others (like Junior) who don't blame anybody or anything other than themselves in making the choices they made and taking personal accountability.
This guy's battling demons on a daily, and I'm sorry to say, he's not on the winning side. As long as you're breathing, you can turn away. The second you're not, it's too late.
"I would help people, not hurt them" is some serious positive personal growth
not really....anyone can say those words
Hello Mark! Ive been following your account for a while and it’s absolutely my favorite channel. Its so interesting to hear people from all walks of life tell your story. It would be awesome if you included Drag Queens in your channel. I would appreciate it a lot :)
Junior sure does a lot of smiling while describing some pretty nasty stuff. It’s disturbing.
He's definitely a sociopath
Probably one of the more intelligent speaking and wise interview I have seen. He is a VERY smart man and he is VERY lucky he is still alive....I feel the same about me...I have done shit in my life, that makes me wonder how I am still alive?....Hearing him say he has regrets is very interesting, most say " I have no regrets" of course I do...All the people I have wronged, all the people who loved me who I have hurt...so many regrets but we can ONLY MOVE FORWARD!
Thats true, He's well spoken!
pretty smart for a dumbass 🤣
Smart for a street thug but I wouldn't say very smart.
Blessed. It is beautiful. ♥️🕊
wow, a guy that can have a normal conversation, what a genius! Guy probably has an 85iq relax buddy.
Wow to all the comments saying he seems nice and friendly. You are not good judges of character 😮 this guy seems like a small child that had no love from his father and thus is terrified of the world.. he probably must supress this terror through rage which he probably takes out mostly on the closest ones. He seems very borderline.
indeed
The people that say those positive things about him would be the easiest people for him to prey on tbh
mmh.. nah. You think everyone is good thats your problem. Id trust this guy as far as I can throw him. Youre naive.
@@NewYorkBattleCat did I not just say that he was no good?
Very honest man. Very responsible for his choices, which is pretty rare for so many. Good luck to him🙏🏻…
I swear Mark is pimping on the side. He loves referring to that “square life” 😃
How do you think he knows all the pimps and ho’s. He out here working the streets too lol
On god
Good childhood, bad people surrounded him. Naah my brother, u let bad people surround you.
What a well spoken man-gentleman-with the way he presents himself and dissects his feelings and lifestyle. Best of luck. I believe he will make a success!! Good for him being clean today. So hard to do. So so hard.
I went to jr high with him He was such a cool dude Hope you make it out JR Que Dios Te Bendiga 🙏🏽 We was just a product of our environment. rooting for you 💯
Finally someone from Santa Ana on here !!! So much going on in that city… main st especially
Conditional 'love', which is basically what gang membership is, is better than none to some. Even to those with more than enough going for them, and with love, it's magnetic because of the power.
Someone on this channel that actually regrets hurting the people he did his life. Actually refreshing.
"Anything that was water soluble" . Damn . That's heavy man
I like this dude a lot. Junior if you see this man you’re still above ground and there’s still time to change your kids perspective
No,sorry this guy is a loser and always will be... he is evil and gets off on the power he has over people.
Forgiveness saved my life.
Damn when Mark said "someone is protecting you" I felt that shit stay up people love for all
I grew up in Santa Ana, I moved out when I was about 14.
I’ve never heard a drug addict be against weed because it’s not water soluble. Weird rule to impose on yourself.
Thanks for another GREAT interview 💯🙌🔥💪💯
GBY Mark 🙏🏼💙🙏🏼
He’s such a smart man and had so many fascinating stories from his life and being apart of a gang. If he wants to start living better which seems like he’s starting and trying too he could really be great!! And have a wonderful rest of his life with his children you can tell he really loves them and wants the absolute best for his family. We’re all praying for you junior !!! You got this life and god really does have a purpose for you todo just you being alive or not serving life in prison is only by god doing that and saving you over and over so you have something big in your life that’s coming don’t miss it! Look for it your purpose man cus your real smart and you could still do anything possible in your future life !!! We’re all praying for you and your women and childern that love and care deeply for you!! God bless you full of life, wisdom, and love man!!!!
the thumbnail looks like mikes brother from prison break lol
He is still alive because there is a bigger plan for him. He has a natural charisma that could serve him well to do things for the good. I wish him well.
It always strikes me how friendly and warm these gang members seem in these interviews. Something about being in front of the camera almost brings out the child in them.
They’re getting the attention that their parents couldn’t give them
@@Chief_Mozey_48_Reactsisn't that what we all want, really?
trauma makes the economy go round
I’ve slept 2 weeks on concrete floor LA county irc last summer
I wish I could have empathy, but for the first time in these interviews I cannot.
Sadism is frightening.
This guy is so cool if he only had gone down the right road its clear he would be a successful member of society. Its a shame because hes charming intelligent and somewhat charismatic. He would make a great actor maybe he should try it. It changed my life. If you are reading this Junior, peace man, from Ireland.
"What a waste" the three most painful words to hear from a man u look up to.
Good morning / or probably goodNIGHT to you Mister Mark! 💗 I hope you don’t forget to take good care of yourself too...bc remember you can’t fill anyone’s cup if you don’t fill yours first. @@skyking228 And thank god, because Latinos (not just Mexicans) are damn hard workers. Doing work few people above the poverty line would - like hard labor for very little pay that gets fresh produce on store shelves.
I agree with an earlier poster. He comes off nice and friendly, but his words are sometimes chilling. Manipulating. Bullying behavior. Power tripping on and taking advantage of people who are hurting with their drug addictions. Sick. Cruel. Unlikeable. Do better. Be better.
16:40 creeped me out....how he smiled when talking about having control
Keep it up Junior im sure ur kids kids and family are proud of u,stay clean brother one day at a time
U should get a cartel member interview that will be a whole other level
One of the best interviews. The guy is very well spoken and sincere.
28:14 - What were your drugs? -> Everything.
He never mentioned any plants (psychedelics). They could have helped him.
When he responded to the question of how bad was it in LA County Jail & he talked about how long it took to get a cell & bed & the big rat. I thought he'd be responding with something like how violent the environment was. I guess he overlooked that.
Try helping people, being kind and then you gonna know empowered on a whole diff level
Buenos Días Mark, Let's Learn!!!
This was a really good one, Mark.
God allows you to live Junior, because He wants you to change, and become the man He knows you can be. ❤️Use your power for good, to help people, stay healthy, help others. First you, and your family then others, now that will be the biggest power trip! Addiction has many layers.
I really enjoyed this interview.. I have family from out there. He’s a smart man
very definition of a bad guy
This guy has so much potential.
I wish Junior all the best! I hope he keeps his head up and his ass out of the streets lol! Another great interview, Mark!
And his chin-up and his head out of his ass!
This guy is so cool!.... an amazing human - It takes a real man, to admit his faults.
Stay clean my friend! you will not regret it!

You could tell right off the bat this homeboy is SOLID!! Best of luck homeboy!!
Reevaluate why and what you consider solid. Does it better you or other's? They all talk when the right ppl have you. ( Not 12 )
I hope what time on earth he has it can be peaceful sober and changed. God bless.
