  • OneWheelWing Javier Starks is the world #1 mileage leader and he just surpassed the 20,000 miles milestone. To celebrate, we went on a celebratory group ride in Washington, DC.
OneWheelWing has more tricks up his sleeve than just distance. In this video, watch him do big drops, curb climbs, a 360 body varial, a fang drag, and more. He also teaches the timing needed for clean curb climbs (often called curb nudges) and you can watch how effortlessly he uses this skill during the group ride.
Javier also talks about how 20K feels, how he almost lost his Onewheel, why skill is significant in the 20K achievement, the key to big drops, and stories about texting Bodhi Harrison when he had the top spot in his sight.
The group ride featured a police chase, a gigantic Onewheel flag, Javier's singling and rapping, and a huge Christmas tree in City Center DC. The DMV Onewheel crew is incredible. At least 32 riders joined us.
Javier mentioned that Kyle from @WheelFunStuff did the Lincoln Memorial drop first.
If you have a Onewheel+ XR or Onewheel Pint, a V1 or otherwise, I think you'll be inspired by OneWheelWing. You'll see he is generally a great guy with great energy and it puts a personality behind the person on the leaderboard.

@@followdon Hey Don, i got your comment notification on my video but for some reason YT deleted it or something. Anyway, This was a while ago, and i had to be on a crutch for a week (tho luckily nothing broke). This incident + some others where the board would nose dive (even if I was abiding by its limits) just made me think the risk of injury wasn't worth it anymore so I ended up selling the board. I did love it while I had it, i look back fondly on the times riding with Javier and the crew around DC, I really miss those times. But alas, float on!

I'm surprised he still uses oem gear after so many miles, I got hit by a few cars disloacated my front left facing shoulder trying to dodge a car that was determined to hit me even though I was on a crosswalk with a cross light on, but I took more damage than the board. Also had to think in bullet time and use the fact the black guy had decided to run me over was better option than getting caught for a felony he already committed or a felony charge for hitting me on a crosswalk intentionally, how do you miss a 7-foot tall person clade in reactive armor with a motorcycle helmet at High Noon? When your rolling from a stop light across a big intersection?
Anyways arm dislocated already been hit once and my OW kocked out of the way thankfully not hard, but my body apparently can be healed easier and cheaper than the one wheel which is entirely backwards and f***** up...
So on the ground dislocated arm on the left and the guy that I'm looking into his eyes and I see him decide to run me over is easier than getting caught, so accelerates with me in the center of his car on the ground about 1 foot from his bumper I think in that time that I'm about to be hit and I can either go under the car or try to roll out the way with a dislocated arm which isn't going to go quick or proper and I'll be run over by the tire or option 3 I can put my feet onto the bumper and slide down the road and see what options become available.
As a bonus my arm was dislocated with the shoulder being pressed backwards dislocated so theoretically I thought on the fly Is it wasn't my first few ND's. So thought in a blink of an eye and pushed my panic and fear then, thought an acted if I put weight on the left side of my shoulder with him pushing me down the road should pop my shoulder back in place. My theory was sound and my shoulder "got sucked" it's the only way I can describe it back into place, the fear and vivid experience of having my body run over by car in my head is hypotheticals pass by was sufficient painkiller to distract me from having my shoulder slide and roll over my other bones it's more of a sucking sound when you have your shoulder slide back into place.
From having limbs amputated and ripped off in the past and reattached with ducktap it was a new and interesting experience trust me.
I have pictures of my left shoulder turn to hamburger from being pushed down the road by the car.
Suffice it to say the story is interesting and requires more detail then I can put in a yt comment.
2,000mi in with several rethreaded screws and literal duck tape holding my frame together.
    RaNt ⚠️:
Hey onewheel would it kill you to use a better grade of aluminum and make the torque and stress loaded screws a thicker set of metal with a pin lock instead of screw based in only those support spots which will keeping the weight down and make the board less of a planned obsolescence not to mention futurmotion shit repair restrictions.
Oh what you new owners say about sketchy repair practices? I hear you say?
Previous one wheel repair attempters that try to turn in your board with an aftermarket frame. WhAt even though all the screws and holes and mounts fit and all the same places they won't repair it without you having to pay for another OEM frame that doesn't hold up to all the skater shit you do for fun on the board. What you have to pay for one more frame you have to have your Hardware Force fully upgraded without your consent so they can make sure you don't install batteries that can go twice the distance in the same package size?
They also don't mention the fact that these double capacity batteries hold up to hypercharge better than their OEM batteries do so they don't wear out as fast hyper charging them unlike their OEM batteries that'll burn out twice as fast as the double capacity battery on sell?
So wait if you bought a modern one wheel, you can't make those simple upgrades? Swapping out a battery pack and plugging it in with a cord that's not much more complicated than plugging in a PlayStation controller.
Can't order parts even if they can serial code you and your name to know your a owner too so you can I don't know maybe... "RIGHT TO REPAIR" it's a law maybe follow them.
But ya my board died damaged the plastic an aluminum top on the CPU unit but the CPU was undamaged and one of the great 1409's that can take all mods. But if I sent the board into onewheel to get it fixed even though the hardware on the CPU isn't broken they would replace it with a newer one or flash it to a newer one against my consent.
All to make it incompatible with anything aftermarket, the upgrades that would improve my riding, make the board safer, and extend my range 2X.
Future motion made an excellent Transportation methods / Joyride.
But their Stranglehold is petty and short-sighted.
I got myself an aftermarket frame with a lift kit and extension in length all integrated into the frame.
Got that shit powder-coated to my specifications. Took my CPU case to a machine shop and got it repaired far cheaper than what onewheel was going to charge me.
There's a dark side to Future motion
An I feel for you Johnny come later.
    Your options are more restrictive.
Even if you don't like what I have to say give me a thumbs-up if it's information you didn't know!

@@followdon give me your email and I'll send you video of everything even an interview with the guys I got to do my repairs and how I found them in the sea of a city like Las Vegas.
How I approached metal shops to repair something they've never seen before and convince them that they want to repair this for decent price versus being scared off by something they don't understand and I had to go through several shops to get to that point.
My onewheel was literally totaled the only thing salvageable was the CPU the battery management and the core everything else had to be replaced or rebuilt or repaired.
I was nearly in tears at the thought of having to buy another one wheel so I could scavenge the parts from it to rebuild mine I didn't want a new one will I wanted my one wheel. And it felt like future motion was sabotaging me restricting me and denying me and make me pay way more money than it would have cost or should have cost to repair it.
In all my impacts with cars were Hit and Run. No one to hold accountable no justice and on top of that have to deal with one will Draconian practices that were either replace parts that I don't want replaced along with the parts I want replaced or buy a new one will get the parts I need and have to sell everything else on eBay but only when I can get $1,800+ together.
But only if you use it as a light to shine exposure into One Wheels practices that For Better or Worse show people that just want to send there modded one wheels in and not have them modified or denied repair because you don't have OEM Parts on it that are interchangeable.
In force you to buy parts that aren't broken or you have no need of just to get it repaired, not to mention the crazy expensive shipping cost there and back and replacing parts that you don't need replaced.
And if I screw up and damage It because it's not waterproof or I smash it into something, whatever I'm just going to be coming back to the company to buy more parts which is a win-win for them.
And honestly I'd be totally cool with signing a document says they are not liable to repair my unit in the future cost-free warranty will be void if I repair myself or hold them responsible for physical or life injury.
I understand I might be required to send broken parts for the one-wheel that I purchased I do not expect them to send me part so I can resell them.
Awesome props on that 20K motherfuker for wearing a full-face helmet because if I wasn't wearing "MINE" I would be far more f***** up from the wrecks I've had on my one wheel.
And when you hear how I wasn't responsible and how they came about you be like that could have happened to me.
Like another time I was riding in a ditch and a guy still found a way to hit me on a road 4 cars wide! In a gated community! Fucking door dash!
