I'm feeling that shade of green! It didn't lay down smooth but the color is pretty sweet. Not a complete failure. Try mixing/blending the top coat into the base coat and lay it down as one. Then finish off with the gloss.
You can definitely see how uneven the coat is, but I LOVE the color! Don't know what you can do to try to replicate the color without the patchiness, but you should try for sure. I give this a 3 because the color is so awesome.

@Karl with a K Absolutely agreed. A spraying technique like that and they wonder why they have heavy spots? Give me a break. Also what gun is that? It appears to me that the air supply is a shop vac. Don’t even get me started on the orange peel.
This is going to sound weird, but I think what you keep seeing in the unevenness is the slosh of the paint in the can. It involuntarily is creating a "pattern". Try placing a synthetic loofah type material inside to function as a baffle so the paint does not slosh hard enough to make the pattern show up. It's just an idea applied from other crafts.
Colorwise, I think it’s great. Not a huge fan of greens, but I’d still give a 3.5-4 on color alone. But you’re right, it definitely didn’t lay down well.
I like that honestly, looks almost like a color shift at times from dk green to hints of yellow. I know we don’t see the flaws like in person but I loved how it looked here in my screen and wouldn’t change it
Sometimes a failure in ones book is a win in someone else's book! I'm not a huge fan of green but with the yellow sneaking through I really like this! I honestly believe it would have been even better with a few coats less of blue to let a bit more yellow pop. Love your channel guys I'm a do it yourself guy and have painted a few cars my 89 Dakota sport needs some TLC and I will be checking out you inventory. Keep up the cool videos!
I honestly didn't think I was going to like it, but it turned out really good. It has accents with the top being darker than the sides. I'm really into that.
Big fan of this color! That's amazing! The inconsistencies give it an amazing color shift like effect. Green is my favorite color and that's a stunning shade and effect even if unintended. I would be ecstatic to have that paint job on my car.
You can clearly see the texture and the unevenness, but the end result was definitely a cool (borderline '04 Rich) color. Makes me want to pull out the Snap-On paint gun and try something similar on my project! (I have a lot of bodywork to do, and since I'm going down to bare metal I may as well go all the way)
Though it may not be what you were looking for or trying for, I kinda like the look of the candy. It makes it look like a clear candy coating over the car. And with any clear coating you aren’t going to have the same thickness of color everywhere. I like it!
If I saw it in the street I would be like "nice home colour job! Points for creativity". I'm afraid I would assume it was not a professional paint job 😂
If I saw this on the street, my first thought would be, "I can NOT believe that someone actually rattle-canned a whole car!" But the green color was surprising and beautiful!I give it a hearty 5 for effort, just for the fact that you went to the extreme of 3 gallons and 9 coats in the hope of making it work! Many thanks for sharing this!
if you mean rattle can as in spray paint, I've seen many cars in my town that were blatantly full body spray painted. This is significantly better. The quality of this matches a lot of the higher price custom paints in my local area. And the color is a lot nicer too.
@@shalakabooyaka1480 Yeah. I don't come from a town where the custom paint shops give good finishes. I'm not raging or arguing. I'm having a laugh because I know this doesn't look good compared to their normal quality, but their normal is workmanship p***. Comparing their work to what I see locally is like seeing a master level custom cabinet maker apologize for the wood stain not taking the way they wanted and comparing it to the defective item return department at Ikea.
Since green is my favorite color I absolutely love the paint job. I think it turned out very nice. I agree with a previous post about calling it "Forest Green" as there are many different hues of the forest. Cheers from eastern TN
1. It really isn’t THAT bad! Seeing what it looked like when you started applying the first coats I expected much much worse! 2. I bet both of you started laughing seeing how bad it looked during those first coats 😂
It's got a type of fade from a dark emerald green on the top to a subtle yellow/green on the bottom, which, imo looks great. That first layer of Cobalt Blue that you applied made the car look like a swamp green/green apple color, which still looked really nice.
I actually like the "uneven look" to me it gives the appearance of water ripples. I like the green color too.... not as much as the candy orange you did, but still a nice overall color
The green color reminds me of my dad's Opal that he drove around in the 1970's. But the yellow 'hint' makes it interesting! I actually like it; it's not only unique, but it's exciting too once you catch a glimpse of the yellow underneath. Good work!
the green looks great and i think the uneven coverage of the blue candy gives it character because its really noticeable. i wonder what paint combination would get that kind of green and also have even coverage because that green is really great! :)
From a distance or is definitely dark green, but as you get closer it looks little lighter in some areas... not a good idea, but as someone mentioned about candy red over white pearl.. hmmm, that's a thought.. or even candy blue over white pearl.
I give it a 5 as well. This green is amazing! Didn't notice the unevenness once it got that dark as much. I have always been thinking of something similar but with a candy emerald green over a silver or chrome base. Or a candy purple so it looks like dot 5 brake fluid in a metal can. Beautiful colors, but there might be a better way to get similar effects and color coming out more even.
I can definitely see the unevenness that bothers you, and it isn't correct -- that being said, it is a beautiful effect. The uneven and variable colors produce a vibrant look that is second to none! Rockin' look!
Fonzie, I really love the dynamic you and Gabe have; thanks for sharing it! As for the end result of this project? Yeah, it's a 1. But for what the color *could* be? A solid 5. Absolutely love the promise of what this rich, dark emerald green could be! Make it so! 😀
Dude! I **love** this dip job! So many subtle tones -- including what I might call "deep sea green," which always looks to me like a deep teal blue, verging on green. But like another commenter said, there are forest-y shades in there. 5/5 -- keys, please!!
Honestly I like it 😄 it reminds me of the emerald green toyota Carolla my mother had😊 the unevenness of the colour gives you something different to look at each time❤
Solid 5! Maybe a lucky 7 😉 I love how you’ve created a gradient from the top to the bottom of the car from a blueish green to a yellowish green! 😁 That’s a sleek green right there (with a bit of a tie dye effect) 😎💚
To be honest, if you could get the color a little more even, I would love a car with this color scheme. I LOVE the green it came out as. 5 for color, 5 for effort, and 3 for execution.
Some paints just dont go on nicely no matter the effort put in this was a lesson taught to me by my father who has been painting vehicles for tbe majority of his life so i would not try scoring the execution like that
Right after the first pass I saw the green automatically pop, so I knew it was gonna just turn a deeper green. It does however look pretty good, even though I'm not a green car guy. I'm curious what that candy cobalt would do over a charcoal grey base. I'm thinking kind of a space effect, but it would be interesting to see
I agree with another comment saying it’s a gorgeous green. Personally the imperfections don’t bother me at all I like it. I can’t tell if it’s just lighter at the bottom making that gradual gradient or that’s the effect of both paints being on top of each other. But ether way I would say that’s a win. Also make sure you get the hand prints off the windows before filming.
I know it is probably a different story in person but judging by the video, I absolutely love this paint job. It's a win in my book.

It is a little splotchy but I like it I think it makes it look like a gemstone or something. I give it 5 stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
I like that honestly, looks almost like a color shift at times from dk green to hints of yellow. I know we don’t see the flaws like in person but I loved how it looked here in my screen and wouldn’t change it
I've watched every single dip you have ever sprayed and this is the first one that I finally love the color and this is the best one ever!!
Absolutely love it, the diff transitions with unevenness gives it that uniqueness that no other paint job has, 1 of 1
Sometimes a failure in ones book is a win in someone else's book!
The unevenness is what makes it pop! Great Job on this fantastic paint job. Don’t think every paint job needs a uniform coating.
I like it! It’s darker around the flairs and body lines but it adds to the look of the paint job.
Dip Your Car channel is like How It's Made. I could spend a weekend binge-watching it
Yes! I enjoyed watching How It's Made and I enjoy watching this. Both are fascinating!
@@canikostar99 nah, that finish looks terrible
Just call it color changing green and it looks better already.
@@canikostar99 I understand what you mean now, I can see that lol
Since green is my favorite color I absolutely love the paint job. I think it turned out very nice. I agree with a previous post about calling it "Forest Green" as there are many different hues of the forest. Cheers from eastern TN
1. It really isn’t THAT bad! Seeing what it looked like when you started applying the first coats I expected much much worse!
2. I bet both of you started laughing seeing how bad it looked during those first coats 😂
I was saying to myself, that is not going on even! I’m not used to this on this channel. I thought he was having spray gun problems.
Green goblin bmw
Oh I love it!
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I love this❣️It glistens like a rare emerald. It’s a 5!
This is crazy!!! Is there ANY WAY you guys would be inclined to do a CANDY RED over pearl white??? 😵💫👍🏽. I think that would be EPIC!!!!
that would be sick... can i put a second on seeing what that might look like.
I feel like they’d just have a similar problem
I'd like to see that
I would love to see any color over white
From a distance or is definitely dark green, but as you get closer it looks little lighter in some areas... not a good idea, but as someone mentioned about candy red over white pearl.. hmmm, that's a thought.. or even candy blue over white pearl.
Wow! What a beautiful disaster! How great to get all those green varieties in there so smoothly even though those were not the intended results! 5 ⭐⭐
That green is prefect!! Not too bright not too dark. It’s a win in my book hands down!
5 for me. Love the shade of green you created. Besides, it's unique. Can't call that a failure.
I actually love that color, I’d love to see you recreate it with maybe a matte or satin too.
A matte finish would look good for sure
It looks a lot better than I thought it would. If it wasn't for the uneven color coverage the color would be really nice.
Ok...that is beautiful! It is like an emerald! I like that it almost appears to have a gradient to it
I love it! If you had set out to paint this car green, you would have never been able to come up with this green. It's perfect!
Personally I absolutely love this. It’s unique and beautiful. Great job❤❤
unsuccessful coating aside, that's a gorgeous green
That looks like the jewel of the forest green. Bloody brilliant. I can see that not everyone would like it but THAT is the paintastic!
