That is really a nice color black in that soap.
I don't know if its cheaper but there is another way to cut on a budget.
Buy a dowel or get something round to use as handles. Drill a hole in the center of the handles and tie 30 lb fishing line through the holes.
Put the line in the notch that you cut, put the soap over it. Line up the opposite end with the line against the wood and just pull ONE of the dowels (The other dowel will catch on the loaf) while the other stays in place. It will cut cleanly though easily using the wood as a guide.
It will even cut melt and pour and glycerin soap very cleanly.
So a saw is not nessarily needed if the object is to save money. But, than again, decent quality fishing line costs $6-$15 any way.
