So lovely to hear this record again - Cliff Bennett came from the same town -I lived in - WestDrayton - I used to see them in the local dance halls. We had some super groups in that area. Ronnie Woods lived just along the road. Also The Birds - The sixties was a lively time around West Drayton and Uxbridge Dance halls.
Got me head phones on listening to some fab sixties, and clif was one of the greats, so much great music from the sixties to choose from why would we listen to the stuff they churn out to-day.
Used to see them at the Blue Moon AND Burtons, Uxbridge, they were a good part of my teens when I was an apprentice at the Bell Punch, Uxbridge. Are you still going?? I am 75 now!!
Lyrics I thought I could find the kind of girl Who thinks you're the only guy in the world No more half hearted kisses oh that's bad enough Oh no more teardrops no one way love one way love Don't look for someone who likes to love fast You know that kind of love will never last If she's fast and furious that can be rough Oh if she is kinda serious you'll never have a one way love one way love Well there are girls who like to cheat and flirt Those kind of girls are the worst of all Oh how they lie whoa how they hurt And you'll she's gonna make you fall Take it from me I know what I say I'll find me a girl who don't like to play This game of heartbreaks it's mighty rough Oh no more teardrops no one way love one way love
The single of One Way Love was recorded in 1964, before Chas joined them on bass (July '65, according to Pete Frame). I believe this is from late '64 or early '65 and it looks like it's Bobby Thomson on bass (with the shades).
From the days of my youth... Great voice, great song, great performance.
Fab. No other word
MET HIM years ago in CAMBERLEY SURREY . GREAT GUY GREAT VOICE .
One of my favorites. Burtons in Uxbridge, many memories.
Excellent vocals, and a terrific sax riff!
Outstanding white soul music. I loved it back then. Still sounds stunning.
What a voice
Sounds better than ever.
Cliff certainly had a great voice.
Love his voice. Great beat to this track ❤
Of all the great music we had in the sixties, this is the one record i played most. I loved it.

Takes me back to when I was a kid and music was simple and great. I'm on a 60s binge listen.
Good memories of such a song in the 1960s
Top band....Cliff a terrific singer. Hope to see them live next March....
F%-#k what a voice!
Great voice and the sax riff is a real ear worm ,great to hear the band again, when they played live no lipsinc or autotune.

Saw this band at the sherwood rooms in nottingham, fantastic,I think it was late 1960s
Saw Cliff sing this about 3 years ago. Real life 'Blues Style' Fantastic show
Mike Smith of the Dave Clark Five commented that he thought this band was terrific.
He was in a similar position to Roy Young - both talented singers/keyboardists, having to play second fiddle to the named band leader!
Pure quality....
Brilliant live band.
Blue Moon, Hayes, on a Sunday night.
What a tight performance.
Check out the new Cliff Bennett and the rebel rousers book! It’s really good 👍🏻
I remember this when I was way too young, nevertheless, just loved the musical direction.

I bet Mike Smith and the Dave Clark Five wish they recorded this back then!
Used to see them at the Blue Moon AND Burtons, Uxbridge, they were a good part of my teens when I was an apprentice at the Bell Punch, Uxbridge. Are you still going?? I am 75 now!!

Lyrics
I thought I could find the kind of girl
Who thinks you're the only guy in the world
No more half hearted kisses oh that's bad enough
Oh no more teardrops no one way love one way love
Don't look for someone who likes to love fast
You know that kind of love will never last
If she's fast and furious that can be rough
Oh if she is kinda serious you'll never have a one way love one way love
Well there are girls who like to cheat and flirt
Those kind of girls are the worst of all
Oh how they lie whoa how they hurt
And you'll she's gonna make you fall
Take it from me I know what I say
I'll find me a girl who don't like to play
This game of heartbreaks it's mighty rough
Oh no more teardrops no one way love one way love
I prefer this version to The Drifters
Is that Chas Hodges on bass?

@@farmbrough Cheers, buddy 👍
Fabulous voice. Great arrangement. Compare todays ghastly offerings
is that Chas Hodges of Chas and Dave on keyboards
No, that's Roy Young. Chas was generally playing bass at this stage of his career.
