the difference is that marth cleans his sword’s tip every day and always forgets to clean everything else.
Lucina also upgrades everything consistently, while Marth upgrades the tip only with powerful material

Unpopular opinion, but I like how they made Lucina. It's like a gift of giving Marth players a break at competitive and to be more casual. You don't have to worry about doing poorly in precision, so that's one less small thing to keep track of during gameplay. It's simply all it is with the tipper: More minimal power, at the expense of less maximum power. Like you said, consistent, so it's more relaxing.
If you wanna kick someone's mule, go ahead and pick Marth to show off your knowledge and skill. If you're too stressed or anxious to worry about it, then pick Lucina. It's all a matter of ability in the end, but even professionals make mistakes at times. Using Lucina might feel or seem like a slight downgrade, or like you're using training wheels, but it still does most of the same basic stuff, with most of the same abilities. You're just gonna be doing moderate instead of the differing "hype" to "sour" bits.
All it comes down to is preference. Competitive, hype-living players can pick Marth, while casual, careful-living players can pick Lucina.

If you main Marth, you're going to end up being punished more often for hitting the sour spot. I would go with Lucina, mainly because she doesn't have a sweet spot, making her a good choice between the two.
If you're not more careful at low %s, yeah, marth will get punished more often for hitting sours that early
I've been playing Marth for a while as opposed to lucina and haven't noticed an increase of punishes with a sour spot, I usually follow them up with another attack

it's just really stylized and exaggerated. she starts out kneeling for some reason.
@@RacingSnails64 Considering the way her leg just snaps to correct itself, the animation interpolation is clearly overcompensating for a wonky animation. There is no way this is intended and just stylized.
@@MerryBlind I think the problem is because Lucina is now as tall as Marth (in ssb4 she was shorter than him) and her counter animation is a copied asset from ssb4 but they didn't compensated her old animation with her new taller model and according to the wiki zooming around her belt reveals that her stomach will split open, she seem to have been developed using marth as the basis closer in ultimate than in ssb4

The difference is Marth takes more skill and has more open ended combos and kill confirms
What's interesting is the difference between Roy and Chrom, as Roy typically uses a backhand grip for some attacks while Chrom doesn't

mario doesnt have luigis tether, diferent final smashes, mario has no misfire, luigi has no flud but a tornado, luighi's up b has no coins, ifferent foward smashes, and thats just to name a few.

I think I'm pretty much the only guy who prefers Marth over Lucina. I get that Lucina is more consistent but I just really like Marth's tipper kills more.
Plus I've actually played Marth's games (Shadow Dragon and Mystery of the Emblem) and watched his anime whereas I haven't played Lucina's games so I prefer Marth for that reason too.
It’s funny, I’m the exact opposite since I’ve only briefly played Marth’s games but I played the heck out of Awakening and Lucina was my favorite character in it. I do play both depending on what mood I’m in though.

@@gamingyoshifanatic4082 Roy is very fun in Ultimate. His rush down style is very satisfying. I kinda hate how the FE characters get this bad rep about them all being the same even though only two characters out of that series are actually clones and the rest do play very differently from each other.
@@lurkingC In my opinion FE is a bit overrepresented to be honest with 8 characters but most are pretty unique, aside from Chrom and Lucina. (And even then they play pretty differently but yeah lol)
@@gamingyoshifanatic4082 Yeah I actually agree. I think the problem with the FE RPD is that they’re all lords. If we had other characters with different specializations I think it wouldn’t be as bad (even though I got Lucina so I can’t really complain lol)

That's counter, and marth reaches forward a lot more with his counter, though the hitbox isn't active for more than 3 frames

Well Marth is a cool variation of other sword fighters with a cool mechanic that makes you think about spacing and reward you for being skilled, and Lucina is a top tier.
The different of them is their mastery of speed, fighting style, stamina, strength, balance and technique
You should do What’s the Difference between Mario and Luigi.
Idk for me marth feels smoother like I feel like I can string sour spots into tech chases and frame traps and stuff or comboing into tippers lucina feels more meaty when she hits marth feels

I've been using Marth for a couple of days and yeah, he is hard AF, but i think it has improved my overall spacing across the board. It makes for good training.

Since im not very good at spacing, lucina is perfect for me. I like characters that can pack a punch no matter the distance

Lucina has a major advantage over Marth and that's the fact that she can be played as a pseudo rushdown compared to Marth. Because spacing isn't as much of an issue, this gives her a larger number of favorable match-ups. There's also the fact that tippers for Marth in Smash Ult is pretty inconsistent though.
I don't get why people think Marth has to space and lucina doesn't. And how are tippers inconsistent? There's no RNG on him
@@igirjei3717 With the increase in speed from Smash 4 to Ultimate along with janky mechanics, it's nearly impossible to perfectly space with Marth. Smash 4 had slower movement allowing perfect spacing. Melee has precise controls to back up its speed allowing Marth to space more consistently as well.

So this means Marth's for Melee Veterans such as myself, and Lucina is for newer players in the Wii U era. Not that there's anything wrong with that, playing Marth is not easy. Even though they buffed Marth so that tippers are easier to get, it's still tricky to pull off.

@Nothing and Roy has a sweet spot at the beginning of his blade, while Chrom is like Lucina without a sweet & sour spot
I prefer Marth over Lucina because I like his tippers.
It makes him feel more like Ike, who is my main.
Lucina does go like maybe a line of pixels further than marth with neutral B, but you gotta remember that tipper sweetspot hitbox is very generous, and its somewhat far out the sword too.
Then again tho, he doesn't wanna talk about hitboxes 🙄🙄
