Raw meat? I rescue cats and live in rural tenn. I have 5 outside cats who keep our yard free of snakes, moles and rats. I feed them once a day dry cat food. Many farmers depend on cats to keep rodents away. They eat lots of raw meat including squirrels and birds. I also had a inside cat with a sensitive stomach. Vet recommended a diet of raw meat cause that's their original nature. It healed my cat of its stomach issues as well as other issues.
Exactly. This makes no sense. I had an inside cat a few years ago with stomach issues. Vet recommended raw meat. It worked not only for stomach issues but other issues as well. My outside cats eat lots of rats, moles Birds, snakes, and squirrels. We live in rural east tenn so I'm able to rescue cats. My cats live long healthy lives on wild caught meat lol
My outdoor cat eats rabbits/possums/snakes/mice/birds - everything but the brains! She's an abandoned Norweigan forest cat and ar least 10 years old (remember seeing her) she's super healthy with a gorgeous coat. Just a beautiful assassin ❤
I agree, my old puss we had when I was young, lived on mostly raw food and boiled fish,he loved cheese, and a saucer of milk,he lived to the grand old age of 20
I adopted at separate times, about two years apart, two feral kittens. At least once a year they would escape and hide under the neighbors shed for days. No one had any idea why. The only way to get them back home was to wait two weeks or go out with either a tablespoon of tuna or a still warm slice of fried bacon. The first day they would reject it but the next night at the words and scents of "fishies" or "bacies" they came out. They then spent the next year as happy house cats.
❤ they might have been used to processed foods during their feral life. I fostered a cat who went crazy at the smell of chicken sand fries / fast food and I suspect she must’ve lived and fed off some chicken shop during her street life..
We once had a cat that loved tomatoes and oranges. We didn’t let him have any usually because it felt wrong but he did his best to plead for some. It’s a wonder that so many feral cats survive with all of these restrictions.
1:12 Then why does some canned cat food contain cheese? A few days ago, I bought some cans of "turkey giblets and cheese" cat food. By the way, all my felines LOVE cheese!
@@cg6348 The only one that contains cheese is the one that specifically states "cheese" as its flavor. I'm referring to the "Special Kitty" brand, sold by Walmart.
@@Pootycat8359 I feed my cats Special Kitty too but not the ones marked as containing cheese, grains, greens or gravy. Manufacturers fill the cans with as much cheaper nonmeat products and higher water content they can get away with and still meet regulatory standards. I don't eat meat or fish, or I'd probably cook for my cats when possible.
My cat loves cheese but i don't let him have much only a little bit once now and againhis very fussy i don't have to worry i can leave any food out he won't touch it .
My cat only eats her high end grain free kibble. It’s all she’ll ingest except for the water I drain from canned tuna. Diluted with a bit of water, she loves the stuff. Have to keep my sweet girl well nourished and healthy. She just turned five. 🇨🇦🖖🏻🇨🇦
The ruler of my abode (large gray male Tabby) has culinary demands. At 4a it's "paté for the caté"... Imported from Canada...by Germans. Cheeses of all sorts will make him tear at mt leg--but dearly loves shredded cheese. The cheese must be individually hand fed. He won't touch any other dairy products. Efficient mouser (won't eat his kill)--he would rather have his cheese not yet processed by a mouse.
Whenever I have toast with butter, or a bagel with cream cheese, I always give my cat a small swipe of it. Once in a while, a tiny bit of butter or cheese won't hurt.
One of cats will eat anything of mine that he can steal or find. He will eat chocolate if he has a chance and try anything to get it. He is not fussy about his diet seeing what is his is his but what is mine is also his. A lot of the stuff that has been identified as being bad for him he takes with relish. It is impossible to stop him licking the plate after I have finished as he sits waiting to move in at every meal after I have finished. If he does not get it then he will take it in the kitchen before things are disposed of. He loves chips, pasta, toast crusts, rice and many vegetables. Despite all of this he is healthy and not over weight. It's not easy living with a furry eating machine where anything remotely edible has to be kept where he cannot access it.
I totally respect your perspective. Everything in moderation is good, and we never mentioned completely stopping giving tuna to your furry friend. However, there are some reasons why we mentioned this point, such as: Nutritional imbalance Lack of vitamin B1 Cats can develop an over-addiction to tuna The presence of mercury I hope this helps. Even vets recommend not giving too much tuna to cats."
I feel somewhat protected from this, as with the cats Ive owned wont touch anything but meat. If its not meat my cats wont eat it, end of, they will turn their nose up at anything but meat and Ive never seen another cat eat anything other than meat. The thought of a cat eating a banana, fruit, veg, strawberry eludes me, I have never seen it ever in real life, and heres another things, my cats have always been just fine with a nibble of cheese or milk. It is true about tuna, they love tuna so give em it cos its no more expensive that cat food meats these days. As for alcohol there are tables availble for what is a safe alcohol limit for all pets. the table includes parrots, cats, dogs. An example a stafordshire bull terrier can drink a small 225ml bottle of carlsberg export, and thoroughly enjoy the after effects with no harm done. An average cat can consume a quarter of a small bottle of beer and reap its benefits as such. I do not advocate giving pets more than their recommended daily allowance of beer but never the less the allowances exists proven by vets. In the case of my staffy bull terrier he would turn his nose up at any other brew than a Carlsberg export which is proof to me that Carlsberg is "probably the best lager in the world". My staffy lived to 16 years old and for a treat say once a week he mopped his bowl of 225ml carlsberg export. He would turn his nose up at fosters , Peroni, carling, john smiths, Tetley's etc. Pets know a good brew. Incidentally when I was a kid my cockatoo was partial to a sip of brandy, which was amusing to see him rock on his perch for a hour. Alcohol in moderation is fine with all living things as with humans. To recap a cat can have 50ml of average strength lager or beer and enjoy its benefits, remember 50ml max of a typical 4.5 percent brew for a cat. The cat will thank you for it. they get a good snooze, and wake up with a good appetite. For a cockatoo 2ml max of brandy. Most dogs can get to like a beer up to a sensible level and believe me they are happy to have a sip, they stare at you for ages with a look of love
When I saw tuna on the list I paused, because it was the law in our house that if humans ate canned tuna, the cat got to lap the juice. In fact, the sound of any can being opened would bring her down to the kitchen from a nap upstairs. Fortunately tuna is not actually harmful, just lacking in nutrients. So the tuna juice was just another of the world's many useless beverages.
Digestive system is not the same as poisonous. Please choose your wording more carefully. Toxic to cats is a none starter as antifreeze is toxic to cats but they will consume it if they can. TO cat owned people you should say poisonous so they never give it to their cats.
I had inside over weight cat that was diabetic that only ate cat food. My vet recommended high protein diet of mostly meats so living on a farm I was able to give him mostly meat. His diabetes went away and he lost weight and became healthy and active again. I'm lucky to have a vet that really knows the needs of animals. He is retiring soon. Going to be a sad day.

Our cat loves cheddar cheese
My Steve loves tuna & cheese yet he only gets a tiny amount of cheese.
So cats can't eat raw meat, raw eggs or bones? I wonder what the feral cats find all their cooked meals.

So appreciate this video. My cats only get cat food but it's a good idea to have this information. Thank you😊

Cheaper for the manufacturer to produce than meat. Same for greens and grain.

I think this video was brought to us by the cat food industry.

How about nonpasteurized dairy?

Another toxic substance to cats is Pinesol. My cat died because of it.

Yet in another video you said a piece of cheese canbe given as a treat! Make sure the facts are posted are correct
It is okk in the smaller portion occassionally.
No tuna? You're kidding. My 8 year old has eaten tuna with mayo stirred in since he was a kitten.

Plenty of cats in Greece eat cheese and yogurt..without any problem..

it's also high in mercury compared to most other fishes
Just be careful that the tuna you get doesn't have any salt in it. A lot of tuna that says it's packed in water has added salt.
