Hey Erika, best post to date! Cool idea to narrate it too, & you're editing style is improving all the time🌊🌊🌊 along with your surfing skills!!! 💪😎 I remember just starting out surfing myself. The one thing that really helped me was paddling into the wave at more of a 45 degree angle so you're going down the face of the wave. Once u gain more balance standing up, which u will if u stick with it, your ability to turn & move with the wave will improve as well. You'll be hangin' 10 in no time! 🏖

I think anytime you make it back to the beach your surfing is a success. I lost my glasses surfing in California on vacation one time and everything looked dim from then on. Oddly enough I have my glasses now and things still look a little dim, and getting dimmer. Your videos help!

I strongly suggest you practice your dry land pop ups so that those feet start routinely landing exactly on the center of the board where you want them to. I think that will help you more than anything.
those waves are little flat that day,, 1-2ft semi glassy are perfect waves to learn on. never give up , you can do this. surfing for me is my way of escaping lifes challenges. when I'm out there nothing else matters.
There are many things that eat in there skim boarding is so much funner once you get the hang of it and every wave is a catch and a lot less likely to lose your limbs Its not smart to go in further than you would have to sit down in the ocean

Although I can see what you mean about the disappointments, I did like some of the footage of the bubbles when you fell. I think it might look interesting in slow motion of just the bubbles. You looked better on the other surfing video but keep at it. Everyone starts somewhere. Kids just seem to throw dumb energy at it, without criticizing themselves like adults do. I've got to play around with my go pro more but have had too much other crap on my plate to try and have fun with it. Nice meeting Abby.

As a beginner and long boarder, slow and mushy waves are good, which is why San Onofre is popular. Fast, close-out waves are for more experienced surfers. Malibu First Point (aka Surfrider) is great in the summer but is faster and has a rocky bottom. So, not great for beginners.
Thirsty comment here, Your eyes are beautiful. Rarely see eyes of your color. As for the surfing, at least you're trying. There are so many people who just sit on the shore and say, man, that looks fun, I should do that. Well, you're doing it. Give it some time and it will be less learning and more relaxing and enjoying the waves. There's also exercises you can do at home to improve your balance.
