    I had one of these - I'm now 70 - and they were so simple and reliable. I remember when you switched on the ignition there was a sort of ticking sound which I understand was the fuel pump activating. My first car, early 70's, was a Moggie Traveller with all the woodwork. It was an MOT failure, I paid £15 for it and bonded it up to get a ticket. Cheap motoring. Good memories, happy days, better times.

    That looks a very solid moggy van, remember well the traditional banging on the fuel pump to get it to go that chassis looks in very nice condition hope you have many hours of fun driving it, one of the best cars ever...

    I like the longer videos because you're not boring and know what's what with motors. I can identify with the cars you work on as I worked on this age of motor when I was a mechanic in the sixties and seventies,they were everyday cars! Like your style bud!

    I adore this van. The originality is incredible. It’s like a time machine where you can sit in it & travel back to the 1970’s! (Or 80’s when it was last on the road)👍🇬🇧

      I agree.
      With these old cars i literally wouldn't want a fully restored car but rather an original survivor car.

    • @badgerlodgegarage
      @badgerlodgegarage  6 месяцев назад +1

      It’s definitely staying original, but will have to find/ make something to protect the bodywork.

    • @TheGreatest1974
      @TheGreatest1974 6 месяцев назад +2

      @@badgerlodgegarage yes, that would be wise. Maybe some kind of clear coat? I love how you’re fixing it up. Obviously some things do need replaced, but you keeping it as original as possible is commendable. Because so many of these have been fully restored and painted etc. they’re nice- but they are no longer original. You’re doing a great job. Brian. 👍🇬🇧

    • @marks-0-0
      @marks-0-0 6 месяцев назад +1

      @@TheGreatest1974 i agree, its only original once. Either wipe over with an oily rag or softly prepare the bodywork and clear coat the patina in.

    This brought back a lot of memories, I learnt to drive in one of these in 1974. It never let me down, it lived outside, I never even used to lock it, even in the coldest weather it used to start immediately. It was 1100 cc I could get it to indicate 80 mph on the clock, don't now how fast it was really going but it felt like it was going 100 mph.

    Back in the 70's we had one of these vans at work, it was the apprentices job to kick on the fire wall when the pump stopped.

    Really enjoying the recommissioning of this van. I worked for the Civil Service (Home Office) in the mid 70's and we had these Austins on the fleet which I got to drive as soon as I passed my test in 1975. Like most of the vehicles, they were some of the very last off the production line and my recollection of them was they were dependable and solid wagons, although the handling was 'interesting' on the narrow cross-ply tyres! Certainly got a soft spot for them, look forward to the next instalment.

    I love a Morris Minor commercial, owned many saloons over the years but never a van. One small comment, don't keep the plastic fuel filter in the engine bay for long. The heat makes the plastic go brittle and wear quicker! Keep up the excellent work.

    A very happy and prosperous New Year to you too. I don't mind the longer videos at all, time goes quickly on them because they're so interesting to watch. I'm loving this van and can't get over how well preserved it is considering where it's been. I'll not tell my mate about this, you get a tank for a 52 year old van in no time, yet he can't for the life of him get a replacement exhaust for his 18 year old LT 2.5D Luton anywhere, it's driving him up the wall!!

    Good to see how good and solid it is under it and don't need welding as you think its small then gets bigger ive spend to many times welding rusty old cars up so your a lucky man and so easy to get new parts for wats your plans on that front wing with the massive dent in you doing a full restoration or part and keeping the paint as it is i would i wax oil under the whole van to protect it
