That’s is the best way to do that procedure on your van. You get all the fluid out that way with the help of the engine and the pressure it generates to push it out. And doing it that way is better also because you don’t have as many failure points either. Great job captain

@@mercedessprinterdiy8556 thank you I did my service on the transmission. It was wonderful it worked great I used the 3/8 line. I have a really great mechanic friend. He does all my large truck mechanicking. Told me you don't have to really put it in gear to flush so I did it all by myself. I put the 3/8 hose into the drain pan and clamped it with a spring clip. Went back and started the engine went out and watch the oil flush through thethe torque converter and cooler. As soon as The color changed😊 I ran back and shut the engine off. Bam done 👍 worked beautiful . thank you for the video.. and help.. and the reply. Truck is running phenomenal now gracias‼️

I followed your steps on my 2010 2500 sprinter for the transmission fluid change and flush this am Thanks for the great video Got it done struggled on the reinstall of the pan with the cross bar in the way, eventually I put a jack under transmission and raised it just a few inches and that allowed sufficient clearance Another tip When you do the flush from the top when using the clear hose method mine popped off and made a mess I then held it on and had no issues completing the drain until it changed colors with the new fluid like the video shows.

Thank you for one of the best repair and maintenance videos out there. I think you have the gift of teaching, because you can see things from the learner's perspective. Seriously, though, most other RUclipsrs are more about showcasing themselves than about the needs of the viewer. I especially appreciate that you have ambient sound and don't fill every space with background "music." I can tell that you put a lot of thought and work into your video with all the camera angles and detail and careful editing. That's a lot of work, and I know you can't detail every single thing, but what you show in just 15 minutes is amazing. Super concise, super informative, all useful stuff, so it's not boring.
May I ask a question?: I bought at 2006 T1N Sprinter with about 176,000 miles on it. The service records say it had the transmission fluid changed by Jiffy Lube at about 172,000 miles, BUT it says they used ""synthetic versatrans CVT plus global ATF." I think I found this ATF online as "Phillips 66 VERSATRANS® CVT PLUS FLUID" (phillips66lubricants.com/product/versatrans-cvt-plus-fluid/). The information sheet for this ATF says "continuously variable transmissions, as well as step-type automatic transmissions." I couldn't find any standards, licenses, or approvals for it. My van now has about 179,000 miles on it and started doing the Rumble Strip Noise ("RSN") thing about 500 miles ago (The following video is an extreme example; mine isn't nearly this bad and happens only occasionally: ruclips.net/video/cU0IkZxoWdY/видео.html). Here is a fix for RSN that I've seen a lot online: ruclips.net/video/jfVGh-_2WDo/видео.html.
Could you please let me know your opinion about the following?
    1) Do you think the Phillips 66 VERSATRANS® CVT PLUS FLUID is bad for my transmission or is causing my Rumble Strip Noise?
    2) What do you think about the "fix" in the video (ruclips.net/video/jfVGh-_2WDo/видео.html)?
Thank you, again, for a great video and all of your hard work!

Another flush procedure that I use is through the drain screw in the torque converter. there is an access hole for the torque conv in the transmission casing closed with a rubber cap.
You need to turn the engine through the crank pulley to align the screw hole with the little opening hole. use an allen key to remove the screw in the torq conv and let the oil drain completely.
Put the screw and tighten it then proceed to fill the new oil. Add around 6 quarts and run the engine and do the cycle of D then R a few times.
now Drain the pan through the drain plug and refill with new fluid... it will take another 4 - 5 quarts. drive the van for few minutes and check the fluid level and top it up as required.

      @VinceBadovinatz88 5 месяцев назад +1

He mentioned that in his video but his method is much better much less work it's very difficult to get to that Allen screw. And you don't get all the fluid out I believe you use much more fluid for much less cleanliness. I'm all for the flush method it looks actually pretty darn easy. It looks much easier than the other method
Wish me luck I'm going to do it Friday or something soon as my parts come in

7spd trans on the 4cyl vans has quite a few differences...no dipstick capability, the trans pan bolts are aluminum shear bolts so u cant overtighten, and MB fluid (blue usually), capacity is about 10liters.

This right here. We are being told the fluid amount is 7.5 quarts when it's really 9.7 liters. In fact, Europarts-SD has the kit for the 7G Tronic that comes with 10 liters of fluid. I was wondering why the amount here was different from the info I have. Either way, a great video, and keep up the good work!

To "torque in" a bolt doesn't mean to just make it tight! You have to look up torque specifications for bolts and use a torque wrench.
Also, you have to drain the torque converter!

Torque converter drain 10 foot pounds

Good video, in most cases a simple drain and fill is sufficient, these transmissions are strong. Also the oil does not really get contaminated because it's not like engine oil which is exposed to combustion which contaminates it. Thus a simple drain and fill is sufficient, people overdo all the nonsense. Don't have to buy into them. You did a proper job though. If you don't have that skill level then just to a simple drain and fill.

very true but doing the complete flush you wont have the need to change the transmission more often since you only have 50% of new oil but i see your point is more labor included , thanks for your comment👍👍

On 7spd, i drained the pan and pulled the tiny bolt in the torque converter, let it drain overnight and nearly the full capacity came out.
To refill, i used 10ft of clear hose and a nipple adapter to the drain plug, and i gravity-fed fluid simply by having the container higher than the trans.

The new fluid in the pan should dump the old fluid in the torque converter into the pan. Then it gets draind out ? Yes?
