My Mom's 2013 C300 4matic with 76K miles started shuddering (4 wheel drive locking), I called the dealerships and a shop nearby and they both wanted $900 dollars to change the fluid, but after watching your extremely detailed video I'm just going to do it my self and save $600, I'm not an auto mechanic but I had changed an Audi quattro transmission and timing belt by my self so this should be a piece of cake, I'm also a RUclipsr and I know all the extra work of filming while fixing something, I really appreciate it, Thank You
Hi @IGATECK thank you for the super thanks, much appreciated! Always nice to get positive feedback from a fellow creator because as you said, you know what's involved in the making of these videos! I love it when one of my videos inspires someone to DIY a job and save some money, so thank you for sharing your story. Yes, with the level of experience you mentioned above, you should have no problem with this job, just allow a full day for it, so that you don't get rushed. Cheers, Phil
Absolutely great detailed video Phil. I have done this in a 745 LI BMW, will your instructions be a similar process for a 2012 S550? Please advise. Thank you- Roger
hi Phil i'm a driveway self taught mechanic, your videos are one of the best ive seen .you explain and show what to do with no nonsense .....great job and Thank You keep it up
Thanks so much! I like that description: Driveway, self taught mechanic! ☺️ I have an engineering background but initially started out working with my Dad on cars on the driveway 👍 Glad you’re liking the videos and cheers for dropping a comment 👍
This is the best video and presentation style I have seen on a Mercedes transmission fluid change. Your speaking skills and methods of explanation are remarkable. I hope to find more relevant content on your channel. Cheers!
Hi Phil. I watched this a year ago and followed everything you said, I was even able to get stainless steel bolts for the gearbox. The gearbox oil filter change was done without a problem, did the torque converter also. I used about 8.5 Litres, but 0.5 litre was for the transfer case. I just come back to watch again to relive the experience, the vehicle is a R class 2007 CDI. It now kicks down a gear on small hills where it would not before, it also has more power through to the wheels via the cleaner auto oil. Doing it myself saved me about $1000.00 AUD. Over here in Australia, thank you so much for a fantastic instructive video that didn't leave anything out. Steve.
Hi, really appreciate the comment! Fantastic to hear that you have done the transmission service and gotten such great results. Encouraging DIY and saving some money along the way is what it’s all about 👍😎 Sounds like you did a great job and as you say, it can make your transmission run sooo much better again!also, always great to hear from Aus! Cheers, Phil
This right here is the most solid video on trans fluid service of this transmission HANDS DOWN!! I know because i’ve been putting it off for weeks and i have seen dozens of videos now lol
Wow, thank very much! 🙌 Sounds like you are doing your research, which is good 👍 Hope it goes well, if you have any questions drop me a comment! Cheers, Phil
Absolutely brilliant video! No fancy tools, no tricky rubbish or parts left unexplained or vague enough to make you lose courage and give your money to a shop that's gonna do it for you. Again, brilliant!
Thank you for taking the time to film this diy video. Easy to follow directions and list of materials needed to refill the trans fluid into the pan gives one confidence to tackle the job as a diy project.
Thank you, that's exactly what I am trying to do: Give people the information and confidence to tackle jobs like these themselves. Hopefully enabling people to be 100% sure their cars are being well looked after and saving some money along the way! Cheers, Phil
Excellent, well organized, good camera work, and excellent and clear narration. I"m working up the guts to do this on my 2014 CLS550 and this was extremely helpful. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
One of the most thorough videos on transmission fluid change for Mercedes 722.9. Great job and thank you! You have answered a lot of my questions. Cheers!
I’m glad I found this video. I have to do a transmission service soon on mine and compared to other videos, this is by far the best. Thank you for saving me a lot of money by having to take it to a shop to have serviced.
Best video I ever watched I own a 2008 Mercedes Benz Ml350 and I feel very confident on doing it myself after watching your video. Thank you so much. Very well explained
One of the best video and presentation I have seen overall and specially on a Mercedes transmission fluid change. Your style of explaining is what a DIY looks for. Special thanks for full description of your own made filling valve. My 2013 e350 bluetec is now around 135k miles so in a year or so I will be doing this transmission oil replacement.
I was really in two minds about how much detail to put into the video (my understanding is a lot of people want the basics and just look for the shortest video!). Thanks so much for your feedback! Cheers, Phil
Thanks so much! I uses to work in manufacturing as an engineer and sometimes would deliver training on how to operate or maintain a machine. I found that I really enjoyed it, so here I am on RUclips! Cheers, Phil
Hello phil! Fantastic video and details. I just purchased a 06' e350 w/150k in great condition, and I'm not sure if they ever changed the trans fluid. I'm not necessarily educated on the 722.9 but I'm also experiencing harsh upshifts, and sometimes it does slightly shudder and vibrate. Would it be worth it to drain and fill this transmission? Or would i be accelerating the end of life. Cheers!
Thank you @trigyratepilot1787 These transmissions run and run and run. You certainly won't introduce a problem by servicing it and there is a good chance it will make it run more smoothly. So, in my view, yes, service it and make sure the internal filter is changed as part of the service. If you have any other questions, please ask and I'll help if I can! 👍 Cheers, Phil
Absolutely fantastic video and instruction style. Clear, detailed, and logical. Heading out to do this on my GL320. Process might not be 100% identical, but at least i am now armed with core knowledge. thank you!
I just found your channel and watched the video on changing the trans fluid on the Mercedes. I recently purchased a used 2011 E350 Cabriolet and have changed my oil already but not my trans fluid or filter. Your video was very easy to learn with and gave me the confidence to go forward with attempting to do this myself! Thanks for the helpful content and you will be saving me a TON of money I am sure! The dealer wanted $350 just to do an oil change (which I would NEVER pay as I am quite handy) but there is no telling what the bill would be to do a transmission fluid/filter service! Keep doing what you do and helping us DIY’ers out here!
Thank you! Congrats on the purchase, that's a very nice car and it sounds like you plan on looking after it! Yes, the tranny service is even more expensive and surprisingly, I have heard stories that some dealers don't even specify a tranny service and hence don't know how to do them! One of the reason I do my own is that I know it is being done correcntly. Cheers for you comment, Phil
Hi Phill, Thank you so much. Very well explained. I did my entire transmission oil change and torque based on your advice. I followed every single step, and I was able to accomplish my project without any issues. Thank you again,
One of the best film clips I've seen, you explain and you show in a very educational way......thank you. Unfortunately I have a S500 w221 but I hope you do the same but now I understand more…
Hello and thanks for this awesome video, of all the videos about transmission service available, this one has been the best I've seen. I do have a question, if I decide to remove the valve body to clean the solenoids, do i need to disconnect the battery to avoid fault codes or is it not necessary?
Hi @frnkto69 thanks for the comment, really appreciate it! I haven't removed the solenoids and tbh, don't think I would unless there was a problem with them. I understand that you may want to as preventative maintenance but please remember, there is always the risk of introducing a fault on what are very sensitive components. As mentioned, I haven't done this job before but if I were to tackle it then yes, I would disconnect the battery first. Better safe than sorry and I have never had a problem from one of my Mercs from disconnecting the battery. Hope that helps! Cheers, Phil
@@ReviveMyRide thanks for taking the time to answer my question. I'll take your word and do the basic fluid change because my car is shifting beautifully, so if a ln experienced guy like avoids taking it apart, I might as well do the same! Have a great day
@@frnkto69no probs at all. If it helps, my car had well over 100k miles on (now sold, wish I still had it!) just with normal transmission servicing and it was still shifting really well. Cheers, Phil
Wow they should hire you to do Mercedes instructional videos. One of the best tutorials I’ve seen. I’ve had my fluid changed two times in the past 3 years and it seems to be worsening each time. I am wondering if the dealer out in the wrong fluid or did something wrong. What would happen if I require the blue fluid and they put red? Also I was wondering if I simple wanted to add a bit of fluid like trans seal product would I need to run the car?
Thanks @adama7031 🙂 From what I have been told, the earlier cars that don't have engine stop / start will run on both fluid types. The later cars should have the blue because the fluid is more robust. So, it depends on what you mean by "getting worse"? what are your symptoms? I'll be honest, I wouldn't have my transmission serviced by any garage unless they could tell me exactly which fluid they are going to put in and how they plan to check and adjust the level. These transmissions are super reliable but are sensitive to both fluid type and correct level. BTW, I think it is unlikely that your transmission is damaged, it is probably as you say, wrong fluid or wrong level and could be fixed by having it serviced by someone who specialises in or knows Mercedes transmissions. Hope that helps! Thanks, Phil
Maybe the best DIY video I've ever seen. Thanks! We have a 2013 c300 4matic.. The torque converter plug is a bit more difficult to get at and makes a giant mess in the bell housing when draining. Getting the plug back in is also tricky but doable.
Excellent Tutorial.....Smart gentleman........ Love folks that know their craft that explain and express themselves clearly and simplistically.....it`s simply uncluttered intellect....
Bro just watched your video and your attention to detail is spot on ! Il start bringing my car to you for a gearbox service ! Clear and concise information 👌
Great delivery ... quick and to the point. Your little tips and suggestions make this a project I may attack in the future and save some serious $$$. Thank-you for your efforts.
Hi @15Benie Try searching for "Mercedes Benz 722.9 ATF Transmission Fluid Fill Adapter" on Ebay or Google and you should find something that will work! Cheers, Phil
Thanks! I only service my own cars as I'm a RUclipsr not a working car garage but hopefully the video showed you what was involved in the process. Do a search for good independent Mercedes specialist near you and I'm sure they will be able to help you out. Ask them to make sure they use the correct fluid, change the internal filter and drain the torque converter (if it is accessible on your car). Thanks, Phil
Thanks very much! Really appreciate your comments! In particular, I work hard on lighting in particular when under cars. Nice to see someone is noticing 😂
You don't need star diagnostics to monitor the trans temp,,,,Any good topdon ,Autel ,launch ,Foxconn ,or ancel obd2 scanner can do this and more,,Having any modern car it is a must to have a good diagnostic scanner,,
Thanks for the info, I will definitely check this out. Never had a problem with the IR heat gun / thermometer method but always like to learn new things. Thanks for sharing! 👍😎 Cheers, Phil
Hi, that was one of the most useful video I’ve ever seen on RUclips. Just changed the oil in my E320 CDi, it drives like a rolls Royce now. The oil was quite dark, it happened been changed for a long time!!! Thanks again 👌👍👍
Thanks so much for the comment, well done diying the job, even with the instructions, it’s a technical job that not everyone will want to tackle. Also, very pleasing to hear how well yours is running now 👍😁 Thanks, Phil
@@ReviveMyRide I thinking about buy the Xentry, my W211 has just had a clear windscreen fitted (Org green) now the wiper/rain sensor doesnt work properly, also i had a tow bar fitted now the parking sensors go off everytime i go in reverse, hopefully the software will help me, any thoughts on these subjects? Thanks again. Russ
Wow very impressive. Correct from start to finish. I never use the “add as much as you drain” method. Always check the level like in this video. It’s more work but you can be sure of your level being correct.
@curiousottman Thanks so much! 👍😀 Yeah, the "add as much as you drain" method is ok and simpler but the "level check and top up" even check again if required will ensure it is spot on! Thanks for your comment. Cheers, Phil
Saw your first video on this and was disappointed you didn't change the torque converter but thank you for not only showing us all on this and giving us the inspiration and knowledge but including important torque specs as well. My dealer wanted $450 to change JUST the pan and fluid!
Thanks for your message and for sticking with me! I've learned a lot since the first video. It's still a useful How-To but I tried to add more in the 2nd one! 👍
So I was changing the radiator on a 2012 Mercedes Benz c300 4matic and forgot that the transmission line was off and started the car and the fluid runs out when I realized a lot come out already 🤦🏽♂️ .my question is will it damage the transmission for that little time or if I try to move the car in on the lift ?
Hi, I wouldn’t be too worried about a small amount of running if the transmission with low fluid, especially since it wasn’t really being driven. I don’t know for sure if there is a risk if you now drive the car into the garage and onto the ramps. If there is an option to get it in there without driving, I would take it, round up the neighbours, your friends or relatives and get it pushed in? Or you could jack it up, put it on axle stands and put some fluid in? Just some ideas, hope it helps. Thanks, Phil
Thanks! A lot of people on The Benz World forum use something called the Mercedes WIS, it is the workshop manual that Mercedes use. Allegedly you can get non original copy from Ebay. You have to be careful which one you pick, look at feedback and how long the seller has been around and make sure you have good antivirus protection on your computer. I used one of these when I rebuilt the engine on my CLK, it have every bit of detail I needed but was a little bit clumsy to use. Here is an example of a Merc WIS for download or buy a disk (sorry in advance for the long link) www.ebay.co.uk/itm/266412895393?fits=Car+Make%3AMercedes-Benz&hash=item3e07722ca1:g:uDsAAOSwu3lkrlQH&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAAA4D7Jhjyfr6YMxE7p9c9sDeEZoBBUdwe0feP%2FICwkau6di4RBciLRFZS%2B8CqQYeBTr51kd5o9ixWO8SLnAS0FtEOa1QKx7NA9SW%2FjcZPs0dU7mqaRbbDQorHzrGcys1BD11goKJH43rTudoNVQptqCwmFOiZZA9H%2BmPN1vrkrTufZ9eszEO04DWYhpoNQ57%2F5JT%2FxdHPozoPwn2SwCa%2FRNMPiDnOS58l5uycqNxZD5azda0lI2Oc2%2BaN0OrdI2TOsssoMJkjOS8QUK2cE0jgwlTB%2FPw0u1EdqhZ9%2FJnoTA6Kz%7Ctkp%3ABFBM7p3-3eVi A few people are saying the good old Haynes manual is good. I have used them in the past but not for Mercedes and finally, there is EmanualOnline. Their manuals are very good, cost a little bit more but more secure than an Ebay purchase as they are a reputable company. If you decide to buy EmanualONline, I just saw a good promo code for October 2023 of 30% off, here it is: OCT30 Hope that helps, Thanks Phil
Thanks, glad it helped! Interested in the flood damaged project, did water get into the transmission, hence the fluid change? Next project car on the channel is a flood damaged car (I’m working on it now), but didn’t consider the transmission, just worried about the engine!
Thank you! Yes, you are right, I should have put something about service intervals... They are a bit of a pain, they changed a lot and then there are what Mercedes owners consider "best practice" too, sometimes best to let people decide for themselves but yes, I could have provided some guidance... Thanks for you comment! 👍😎
Hi Phil - I found this video very useful apart from one thing: The torque specs for the transmission sump bolts on my 2006 SLK 55 AMG 722.9 transmission is 4 nm NOT 8 nm. Following your video, I set my wrench to 8nm and it sheared off a bolt! I managed to extract it with a bit of patience, a left hand drill bit and extractor tool.
Really sorry about that! For some reason, there are a few areas where things vary slightly from model to model! I've had a lot of trouble with those bolts in the past too, which I think I alluded to in the vid, they're a real pain! Glad you had the skills and tools to get it sorted 👍 Cheers, Phil
I have a 2007 mercedes-benz R350 4matic they told me the transmission is 722.9 just like yours. An it have the hole but no plug. Why my transmission dont have the plug on the converter. I turn about 10 turns and nothing.
Sorry, some of them just don't have the drain plug on the torque converter. I'm not sure which years of manufacture or which models, it could even be that they had 2 or 3 suppliers of torque converters and so it's luck of the draw. Don't worry too much, quite a lot of cars don't have the torque converter drain plug, you can't change as much fluid but if you service the transmission, it should still last a long time. Cheers, Phil
Ah dang bro! thanks for this. I accidentally removed my tran pan while attempting an oil change. Good thing I did since it was in need of changing as well. I don't remember even seeing a filter in there. I am awaiting one and the gasket and new ATF. This is going to save me so much $ and my car!
Thanks for the video, I just did the change it and it was very helpful. Some comments: Your measurements are spot on I managed to get about 7.5l in, including the drained torque converter. I didn't have a new torque converter plug so had to reuse the old one. The hex female on it failed at the specified 10nm. Seesm to be made of Mercedes chocolate. Quite annoying but I had to leave it in. Personally I would meaure the level when the sump temperature is a little below 45C - the oil will be hotter than the outside surface of the sump. Great you have a garage lift. I had to use ramps at the front and jack up from the steel transaxle at the rear - fine to do with a bit of softwood and a decent hydraulic jack, followed up by axle stands on the rear jack points (after removing the rubber car jack fittings) . The difficulty without a garage lift is to get it level for the oil level check. I discovered that 'level' on the 4 jack points is not the same as level on a flat road - the car normally slopes down a little towards the front. What Mercedes want is 'level on the 4 jack points' not 'road level'. It makes a significant difference as the drain plug is well forward in the sump, not in the middle. So to get this, adjust the rear jack until the sills between the 2 jack points on each side are level, using a long spirit level. You also need to make sure the car is level across the width as the drain plug is not central. On my new drain plug the copper washer was loose. Of course in my haste it fell off between me picking it up and quickly screwing it in the leaking hole. Lucky I spotted it and re-did it, losing a little more oil. Beware there are, currently, 2 slightly different types of sump and two significantly different types of filter for the 722.9 with red fluid. The newer ''SmartMediaTriple' filter A221 227 01 00 is better than the old one A221 277 01 95 and works with blue and red fluid but it doesn't work with the old sump. I upgraded my sump to be able to use this upgraded filter and my replacement (second hand) sump fitted fine. The new sump is very slightly larger and it won't take the old filter. The old sump won't take the new filter. The only reliable source of info on this is the Mercedes document "722.9 MCT 7G tronic trans_tips_and_tricks.pdf". Google it and look at page 50. I can't tell which filter you fitted as it is a Febi and Febi say both types are Ok and they are not. The new one has only 4 dimples on the undersiude and the old one has 8 or more. The Febi one seems to have none. My experience is it is quite difficult to obtain the old one and no supplier will know of the incompatibility issue. The old rubber torque converter oval plug (A211 2710 180) has been replaced by a rigid plastic one (0009983121), probably because the rubber perishes slightly in ATF fluid. The rigid one fits OK but not snugly, keep the old one if the rubber is still OK. Re. the aluminium bolts, aluminium has a much larger heat/expansion ratio than steel. I would be wary of replacing the specified aluminium one swith steel. To get the oil in I drilled two holes in the cap of one 5l ATF container and fitted a car tyre/bicycle Schrader valve to one and a long plastic tube to the other. I then poked the tube to the bottom of the container and connected the other end to the sump using a cheap adapter. Then I connected a car tyre pump to the schrader valve. It's safe to put up to 10PSI into the container before it bursts (ask me how I know). 5PSI works fine . Then all the oil gets gently transferred into the sump. I used plastic brake hose clamps instead of a on-off valve.
Wow, thank you for the very detailed post. Some really good comments and information in there which will help me and others, so thanks very much for taking the time to write it and provide the detail. I can almost feel an update video coming on! 😄👍 Thanks, Phil
Hi Phil, one of the best instructional video on the tubes. It appears that the transmission on this car doesn’t have the additional oil pump where you have to remove it to drain the oil in the TC (as shown in some other videos). So, can you tell which transmissions of the W204 have the additional oil pump and which doesn’t? Thanks
Thanks! Honestly, I think you know more about the additional pump than me! I have only serviced the transmission that you see in the video! Cheers, Phil
Absolutely loved the video, so easy to understand even for non english/american citizens. Bet the 7g-tronic in w212 is not that much of difference except the amount of oil. Best regards
Thanks for taking the time to do this video, this is the best DIY video of all that I've watched. Not a 30+ min video, straight to the point and very clear. Keep it up, I just subscribed.
I want to thank you for your videos, I’ve got a 2011 E350 and I had trans shutter. I learned how to change my fluid and filter from you. It’s smooth as butter now!!!! They had the wrong fluid and was low. Thanks again. I like all your videos.
Fantastic, glad you got it sorted! Yes, there are a lot of people and tranny shops out there who don't know how to service this Merc tranny properly! well done and glad you like the vids! 👍😎
@@ReviveMyRide New issues, went on vacation, drove about 600 miles no problems up and down the mountains of Tennessee for 3 days. As we were heading back home we drove around 10 minutes stopped at a red light and tranny didn’t want to go home. Lol I have nothing in any gear. Just revs up the rpm’s. And no engine light. Any idea what is up with the transmission? Help.
Great video and you really explain stuff so clearly. It’s frustrating just how easy so many jobs become if you’ve got a lift! Otherwise the plebs like me have to try and do this stuff lying on our backs. I’d gladly pay a garage to do this because if that, but I’m not going to lie I really do not trust them to do this properly and not cut corners (drain torque converter, clean everything, check the level etc.
Thanks! Yes, the lift does make things a lot easier. I treated myself to one for my garage at home and it’s been a godsend! Yes, that is my concern with this job, personally I actually don’t even trust MB to do it correctly! Lots of posts on forums where people say they get it wrong. It is a tricky job just using axle stands but I have a friend that did it. Cheers, Phil
Started to make me worry that I got the wrong fluid. Then you finally said 2010 is when they went to blue fluid. I changed my wifes 2008 clk350 fluid and filter two years ago. I like her car so much, I just got me one too. I can't find my adapter to change the fluid, but I think it might still work for me. The hose on my pump looks like it will fit snug up there, and I may be able to thread the hose onto it. I was just checking a video before starting this. LOL My wifes car is a lower VIN than the one I just got. Hers was taken better care of than this one I just got. Hers had the drain plug for the torque converter, so I expect this one will have it, too. When I did her fluid and filter 2 years ago, the fluid came out black. Two other videos I watched before doing it, they also had the black looking fluid. I wonder if it was ever changed before I bought it? Hers had 153K miles. Mine has 144K miles. I did buy new bolts for hers because two of the new aluminum bolts broke before the torque specs. I hope these don't brake on mine today. I checked the inch pounds coverted from 8 nuten meter, which was 70.81 inch pounds. I was so nervous tightening it. I started at 50 inch pounds and slowly worked my way up. I did get there safely. LOL I only got 4 quarts and about 1/3rd from the pan. I'm going to try to drain the torque converter now. The red Harbor Frieght fluid pump hose threaded on just enough to pump the fluid in.
@@colinaglae9753 Really sorry, I just work on my own cars, I don't have the facilities, insurance etc for working on other cars as a business. Thanks, Phil
Thanks! Yes, apart from showing you how to DIY (if you want to) the other purpose of the video is to help you gauge if it fits with your current knowledge level. If not, at least you know what to discuss with a service shop - Make sure they use the right fluid, change the internal filter and carry out the level check and top up correctly. 👍 Cheers, Phil
Sorry, I don't have an answer for this! I just get the correct fluid and put it in. As long as it meets the spec, I'll buy what is available and most cost effective (providing it is from a well know brand with a good rep). I've only done a few of these services and the tranny always seems to run the same. Hope that helps! Thanks, Phil
Great video thank you for uploading this. The CL 550 I was working on didn't have any repair information on All data for this service so this video was very helpful
Bro when you start a car after oil change first your Gearbox must be in P then you need to let the car increase Temp above 45C (Automatic Oil) then you need to shift 5 sec to each PRND don't do this mistake at another car thnk me later. Anyway your job looks good resp
Thanks for your comment but shifting through each of the gears first to prime the transmission and then leaving it in park to get it up to temperature before adjusting the fluid level has worked perfectly for me lots of times. As the video has had 200k views now and no-one else has commented, I suspect that this method has worked for a lot of others too. What problems do you think this could cause as opposed to the method that you suggested? Thanks, Phil
No probs at all! Seems a few people are appreciating this very detailed approach. I sometimes struggle to decide how much content people want! Appreciate the comment. Thanks, Phil

Steve.

This is a good example of an instructional DIY video. Cheers.
Thank you! 🙏
Absolutely brilliant video! No fancy tools, no tricky rubbish or parts left unexplained or vague enough to make you lose courage and give your money to a shop that's gonna do it for you.
Again, brilliant!
Hi @dragos-lucian Thanks very much for your very kind comment! 👍
What brilliant clear instructions on how to do this job, well done and thank you.
Thank you! Really appreciate the comment 🙌 Cheers, Phil
Perfect video...This video is worth it's weight in Gold!
Thanks so much! 🙌😃
Excellent, well organized, good camera work, and excellent and clear narration. I"m working up the guts to do this on my 2014 CLS550 and this was extremely helpful.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Thanks very much! Really appreciate the comments :-) Cheers, Phil
One of the most thorough videos on transmission fluid change for Mercedes 722.9. Great job and thank you! You have answered a lot of my questions. Cheers!
Thanks very much! appreciate the positivity and glad you liked the vid 👍😎
I’m glad I found this video. I have to do a transmission service soon on mine and compared to other videos, this is by far the best. Thank you for saving me a lot of money by having to take it to a shop to have serviced.
Hey, thanks so much! Really appreciate the kind comment and great that it saved you money! 👍😎 Cheers, Phil
Best video I ever watched I own a 2008 Mercedes Benz Ml350 and I feel very confident on doing it myself after watching your video. Thank you so much. Very well explained
Thanks so much! 👍😎
Such a good video. Thank you for taking the time to be so thorough and especially for reviewing the variations in the newer models.
I was really in two minds about how much detail to put into the video (my understanding is a lot of people want the basics and just look for the shortest video!). Thanks so much for your feedback! Cheers, Phil
Absolutely brilliant and clear instructions you should consider teaching or training.
Thanks so much! I uses to work in manufacturing as an engineer and sometimes would deliver training on how to operate or maintain a machine. I found that I really enjoyed it, so here I am on RUclips! Cheers, Phil
@@ReviveMyRide that's awesome Phil very talented.
People like you who take there time saves me money thank you!
Thanks a lot! Really appreciate the positive comment 😃 cheers, Phil
Wow, never considered how complex the operation was, that was an in depth and really detailed, very informative vid, cheers
@TimberSurf Thanks so much! 👍😎
Absolutely fantastic video and instruction style. Clear, detailed, and logical. Heading out to do this on my GL320. Process might not be 100% identical, but at least i am now armed with core knowledge. thank you!
Thanks so much! Really appreciate your post. Good luck with it, any questions just ask and I’ll help if I can! Cheers, Phil
This was the absolute Best video explanation I have ever watched.
Very well done my friend. Thank you
Thanks so much for the very kind comments, it means a lot! 😁👍 Glad you liked the vid! Cheers, Phil

This is a very comprehensive video. Every question I had was answered. Thanks 👍🏼
Great to hear! Thanks so much for the comment 👍😀 Cheers, Phil
Hi Phill,
Thank you so much. Very well explained. I did my entire transmission oil change and torque based on your advice. I followed every single step, and I was able to accomplish my project without any issues.
Thank you again,
That’s great to hear! Always like to hear from someone that goes ahead with the DIY 👍 Good work! Thanks, Phil
Awesome explanation

One of the best film clips I've seen, you explain and you show in a very educational way......thank you. Unfortunately I have a S500 w221 but I hope you do the same but now I understand more…
Thank you! 😀
Best instruction video on RUclips on how to do this process. THANK YOU!
Thanks! 👍😁
I love this video , awesome job. I did my R171 fluid few years ago and it’s time to flush again and forgot how to do it. Straight forward and simple
Cheers very much! Sounds like you are really looking after your Merc 👍
Thank you. Just performed the service on my W221 S550L. No surprises and everything went back together just liked you explained. Again, thank you.
Great to hear and good work too! 👍
GENIUS video, mate. Thanks.
Thanks so much! 😎
Ok, Thanks for your advice I appreciate it. Looking forward to future videos, Cheers
Thanks so much! Honestly, I don’t know what the thing is with the drain plug. I had heard that it is awkward to reach on later models! Thanks, Phil
Really great video. You explan the process very thoroughly! Much appreciated
Thanks so much! 👍😁
Excellent Tutorial.....Smart gentleman........ Love folks that know their craft that explain and express themselves clearly and simplistically.....it`s simply uncluttered intellect....

Absolutely brilliant video, head and shoulders above the rest. Very informative, great lighting and superbly described.

The best explaining video on YT! Thank you very much for sharing!
Hi @marcoserbach3848 Thanks so much! 😁 Really appreciate the positivity and encouragement! 👍
Great video! Where can I find a service manual for my MB? 2011 E350
Thanks
Here is an example of a Merc WIS for download or buy a disk (sorry in advance for the long link) www.ebay.co.uk/itm/266412895393?fits=Car+Make%3AMercedes-Benz&hash=item3e07722ca1:g:uDsAAOSwu3lkrlQH&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAAA4D7Jhjyfr6YMxE7p9c9sDeEZoBBUdwe0feP%2FICwkau6di4RBciLRFZS%2B8CqQYeBTr51kd5o9ixWO8SLnAS0FtEOa1QKx7NA9SW%2FjcZPs0dU7mqaRbbDQorHzrGcys1BD11goKJH43rTudoNVQptqCwmFOiZZA9H%2BmPN1vrkrTufZ9eszEO04DWYhpoNQ57%2F5JT%2FxdHPozoPwn2SwCa%2FRNMPiDnOS58l5uycqNxZD5azda0lI2Oc2%2BaN0OrdI2TOsssoMJkjOS8QUK2cE0jgwlTB%2FPw0u1EdqhZ9%2FJnoTA6Kz%7Ctkp%3ABFBM7p3-3eVi
A few people are saying the good old Haynes manual is good.
Great video. Good job mate. You saved me a ton of money on my flood damaged c350. Thank you
Thanks, glad it helped! Interested in the flood damaged project, did water get into the transmission, hence the fluid change? Next project car on the channel is a flood damaged car (I’m working on it now), but didn’t consider the transmission, just worried about the engine!
Very detailed, German style instruction:) Thanks a lot sir! What you missed to mention is the recommended
fluid change interval.
Thank you! Yes, you are right, I should have put something about service intervals... They are a bit of a pain, they changed a lot and then there are what Mercedes owners consider "best practice" too, sometimes best to let people decide for themselves but yes, I could have provided some guidance... Thanks for you comment! 👍😎
Clear and thorough instruction and demonstration. An excellent video and an inspiration for me to carry out a transmission fluid change on my W212.
Thank you! And great to hear that you are planning DIY tranny service 👍 cheers, Phil
You’re amazing. Thank you!
Thanks very much! 🙏👍
Great clips, specific & informative. I wished you lived near me - Big thumbs up!
Thank you! 🙌😃
Cheers, Phil
one of the best reviews ive watched
thanks so much! 🙏 😎
Ah dang bro! thanks for this. I accidentally removed my tran pan while attempting an oil change. Good thing I did since it was in need of changing as well. I don't remember even seeing a filter in there. I am awaiting one and the gasket and new ATF. This is going to save me so much $ and my car!
Thanks! sounds good, getting both jobs done at once! 👍
Have to say one of the best wee videos ive seen very informative good job
@David-uu8vz Thanks so much! Really appreciate it 👍😀
Thanks for the video, I just did the change it and it was very helpful. Some comments:
Your measurements are spot on I managed to get about 7.5l in, including the drained torque converter.
Tks. Your video is concise and beautifully made. Simple English is good. Easy to understand. 1st time watching your posting. ,👍

New issues, went on vacation, drove about 600 miles no problems up and down the mountains of Tennessee for 3 days.
LOL
My wifes car is a lower VIN than the one I just got.
LOL
I only got 4 quarts and about 1/3rd from the pan. I'm going to try to drain the torque converter now.
The red Harbor Frieght fluid pump hose threaded on just enough to pump the fluid in.
Brilliant video Phil. Best one I've seen for this job! Al from Oz.

Great video. Thank you for taking the time to be so thorough
No probs at all! Seems a few people are appreciating this very detailed approach. I sometimes struggle to decide how much content people want! Appreciate the comment. Thanks, Phil
