Go for the gotterdammerung first! The manuscripts from VR and Chapter 9 colliseum should be enough to get you over 250 total. Then eventually focus on the hard mode after getting Gotterdammerung
I would get the Gotterdammerung (Twilight of the Gods) first, just make sure you are level 50 and have essential materia maxed out before tackling the battle raid. The reason I said first is because getting the item makes your 2nd playthrough a lot more fun and easier to handle as that item is really powerful. Right now I am on Chapter 10 of my hard mode playthrough...got almost all non hard mode chapter completion trophies, so by the time I beat the last chapter on hard, I will automatically get the platinum one time and then it will be time to move on.
I will just say my favourites are enemy skill of course, magnify, time, and my favourite of the spells- bio. People underestimate the power of poison, lots of enemies can be poisoned including many bosses once they aren't machines...and poison damage really adds up in battle and lasts seemingly forever. Just like FF13, poison is secretly the best status effect in the game, equal to stop. I always liked that FF13 was the first main title game that really made status ailment a credible strategy against bosses, since generally most bosses before were immune to most stuff. This game follows that trend. Honestly, I expect with the 2nd part they will just fully take on the stagger system of the FF13 series since it is already as close sans the making the stagger last longer outside of stop.
Yeah I hope those changes happen as well. Status ailments are such a good implementation throughout the series and having bosses immune to most is just silly. But I understand why at certain points it's like that too. I'm working in a poison build right now if you have any ideas
Elemental is such a clutch and diverse materia. You can deal damage with it on the weapon and heal that spell with it on the armor. Such a good choice!
Enemy skill in original FF7 was SO dope. Things like big guard, Beta, trine and Aqualung were so strong and overall useful in almost every battle...and easy to obtain.
I completely neglected the enemy skill materia. I'll have to use it in Hard mode when I go back to play it. Love all these FF7 guides, I missed out on alot that the combat system has to offer so thank for opening up my eyes, you gained a sub :D
Happy to have you along the channel man! Yes for sure, enemy skill is amazing on hard mode for the health gain and damage overall. Hope to see you comment on other videos soon! I have a video coming out in a few hours about how to quickly master and max level up materia
@@BltzZ don't you worry, I'll be sticking around, I need all the help I can get with the combat 😂 It was my favourite part of the game so I'd love to sit down and learn all the ins and outs
Enemy skill needs just a bit of help from paired materia. That makes it amazing overall! Blue and yellow materia are some of the best combinations in ff7 OG. Be sure to definitely try it out it's amazing!
Does algid aura work the same with MP Absorb the same it does with HP? with 0,001% MP return i know dmg is low for high MP gains, but the MP absorb might get rounded up to 1 per hit. since its up for a minute and pulses in waves quite frequently and hiting every mob, we might get a decent MP generation when standing in 2, 3, 4, or even more mobs. (havnt tested tho)
I've tested this and unfortunately it does not. IT doesn't link together in the materia slots and glow. When the slots glow that means they work together.
This is interesting, got to put it to the test and see. At first I thought MP Absorb was crap but it is pretty good when combined with magnify + element, mp absorb + element, Hp absorb + element, 2 magic ups maxed out and cast spell from astral ward onto enemy that is weakened by said element. The MP return is really significant....but honestly so far I do not find it difficult in the least to finish a whole chapter in hard mode with barely using MP. Hell House and Airbuster were surprisingly a lot easier this time around for me....that Gotterdamerung item is a game changer.
@@BltzZ thank you for testing. thats quite unfortunate but also understand why it doesnt work. would yeald a big chunk of MP by the fact how often the aura ticks

Enemy Skill, Magnify, and Time materia. It is SHOCKING how many bosses can actually be stopped. It is great for if you are getting overwhelmed and you need a slight break to build ATB. I rarely use Slow unless Stop doesn't work. And Haste speaks for itself. So Time materia. Simply lovely. Do not be scared to use it, folks!
I was surprised to, I like that even some bosses can be stopped when staggered or pressured. It is good that like FF13 status effects have some useful mileage in this game. This game borrows from FF13, same split party story approach, almost the same stagger system, just slightly less complex here.
To be fair the split party approach was done before 13. In ff7 OG there were many moments where you split up and play either solo or as seperate parties like in the shinra building for Aerith Barret and red 13 to fight the elevator boss. Many other times through the game as well. Can't wait to see how they followup remake 2 tho!
Man, I didn’t even know you could use enemy skill like that. If this is any indication FF7R’s next chapters are gonna have complex combos on par with the OG FF7 😵
For real! I can only imagine man I know they have the base layout of combat and character designs. They just need to add onto the combat with more materia. Maybe remove or integrate some purple materia into characters kits like Deadly dodge etc. Create the open world and continue the story. I hope they take their time!
I discovered enemy skill and hp absorb early on. But I didnt think self destruct actually hits with instant death. I thought that it would deal 9999 damage. This is huge.
It's so tricky there are so many things still hidden in this game we are constantly learning day to day it's awesome! I'm going to be playing this for a long time coming
First thing I tried when I got enemy skill was trying to survive self destruct with HP Absorb, but well it failed. I had no idea you could survive using Warding + Subversion. But yeah, my choice for best materia in the game is ATB Assist. Sure, it works better on Tifa because Focused Strike gives you a little ATB back, but if Tifa is constantly giving you party members ATB with this and they're also using ATB nonstop (and thus giving Tifa more ATB back), it's... pretty crazy to think about. Got to experiment with it more!
After watching this video, I am curious if there is available PvP mode in the future release or in the next part. Mixing materias for a particular strategy is always a fun part of FF VII OG and Remake. XD
If they could find a way to balance and have that omg I'd love it. I wish they could do VR coop somehow in this and limit the amount of character to choose!

Hey dude before you even do that do you have all characters SP maxed out? You can do this by doing all the solo missions from VR and chapter 9 with Aerith. This way you max out SP before starting hard mode and that's all you need bro :)
@@BltzZ No I was only on level 39 when i finished my first normal mode run.I got 3 manuscripts per character in my first run in normal mode. I also did the solo missions from VR and with solo matches with Aerith on chapter 9 but i only tried to beat it once. So level up first to max in normal mode then play hard mode? By the way, great content. Loving some of the tricks you are sharing so i subscribed.
Happy to have you on the channel bro! Wow 39 is crazy! Haha you can grind up in chapter 16 for a lot of EXP like I'm the master materia video I made. This way it'll speed by and aerith will still gain levels too
Not sure if this is a thing but I played through normal and finished at lvl 49. When I started playing HM and finally hit lvl 50. I noticed I gained 11 so on that level up. Do you gain more sp per level in HM?
BltzZ ah ok, I wasn't sure because everything I've read up until now mentioned only getting up to 240 (or 5sp per level + the 3 key items) for up to normal, with the additional items throughout HM to give a max 350
The thing about this game is, they need to let us have preset features. I've spent so much time keep switching Materias around dealing with different enemies using different combos lol. And nobody talk about this haha. But thanks for all this tips nonetheless. My fav Materia is First Strike Materia and ATB Assist Materia. With how messy the combat is during fight, attacks got cancel/counter easily by the enemy, building Atk Bar is crucial. There are times when all my characters are low on health and can't even use Potions, while their HP are too low to go near enemy to gain Atk Bar, they got wipe out next. Its annoying how even using 'Items' requires Atk Bar. So First Strike Materia is my fav, in order to gain some control first :) And ATB Assist Materia for Tifa, she can help others to raise the bar by building her Chi twice.
Yeah most definitely like a custom materia set class so you can experiment and throw a set back on when you need it! Glad to hear you love this! Trying to keep bringing that heat for you guys when it comes to materia vuilds
Jenova H Christ. that explosion build. i didnt use it in the classic version because it cost mp and was hard to max out. but this might change everything
You can continue without it, when you beat the game you have access to chapter select and can always go back to get it. Chocomog is an ok summon not a big deal to miss. Its the only summon that boosts your luck stat. Increases by 2, I like to give it to tifa since she usually carries my luck up materias
Hey subversion can be bought from a item store and also given from a quest i forget which one. I'll consider making a materia location guide for you guys!
I think my favorite command materia they will make later is manipulate can’t wait to take over monsters!!!!! Right now the best single materia is first strike - Atb stagger makes things unfair which is the point of custom builds
I have issues with that one as well haha I mainly keep it on tifa for sure since I'm focused striking enemies often. But between Barret cloud and aerith idk haha it's a tossup!
You missed something with regards to in enemy skill siphon. If you take elemental materia plus, say fire or lightning, and equip it in your offensive slot of a weapon. when you cast siphon to drain HP it takes on the properties of whatever element you have in your linked offensive slot with element materia
@@BltzZ Oh i didnt know it also stacked with the algid aura. I was specifically thinking of the HP drain ability. Good to know it works with all the attacks not just the one.
@@yumyumeatemup No problem! The games system is super unique i cannot wait to see how ff7 remake 2 does everything with the amount of new materia we will get

Oh yeah most definitely use it on her! It's great for all melee characters its just Barret has a better time using it because of his steel skin and defensive capabilities

FFIV DS had good status effects too. I was in awe when I saw Slow actually work on bosses
I hope we get to see big guard on enemy-skill on part two. Its one of the most op abilities.
I hope so too! It's going to be awesome if they really take their time and implemented all aspects of FF7s world in remake 2
magnify materia is my fav and must have. The tip on the self-destruct is really brilliant though
Magnify is the undisputed goat for sure! I was shocked too haha surviving self destruct has never been any words I think I'd ever hear
You are the man. Thx for all the Infos.
You know I got you man! I'm going to get a few projects done tomorrow so we can have a sweet day with multiple uploads!
@@BltzZ i'm looking forward. Can't wait.
My favorite would definitely be Elemental is the one I use the most. Can't wait for them to add more combinations in future parts.
Elemental is such a clutch and diverse materia. You can deal damage with it on the weapon and heal that spell with it on the armor. Such a good choice!
That's awesome. I really need to unlock all the enemy skills...
It's a new way of life once you get them all 😉
Enemy skill in original FF7 was SO dope. Things like big guard, Beta, trine and Aqualung were so strong and overall useful in almost every battle...and easy to obtain.
Yeah I hope we have a much wider variety in remake 2! I can't wait to see what the combinations are going to be like!
I got your back!
i did not even think that this materia was so useful,, definitely equipping it now XD
Happy to hear that!! :D be sure to stay tuned for more guides and combinations like this
That melee Barret build is amazing 👌👌👌
Haha thanks man! Barret is slowly becoming my favorite to play as. Somehow almost passing tifa! But my heart won't let that happen haha
I'd heard that the enemy skill was rather lack lust so I've been sleeping on it, but these combo's are pretty sick. Time to give it a go.
Yeah it would be the go to option for hard mode most definitely haha!
Yup thats my next combination I wanted to breakdown for those who are unsure of that
Bro you need to keep making these FF7R vids. Educational , entertaining and very good for your channel (you'll get views / subs). Win / win!
That's the plan! Here for the long haul and I wanna keep making all kinds of these videos for you guys. We definitely will cover other games but I dont mind making ff7 remake or OG ff7 the faces for this channel. Those games mean a lot to my childhood.
@@BltzZ Good to hear! There's massive demand for this content right now with all the hype. Good to see you capitalize on this with your high quality vids! :)
I'm just happy to see you enjoying these and everyone else too! Eventually we will skyrocket but till then I'm having so much fun bringing these for you all
Blue Mage Barrett was definitely the weirdest build I've ever used in this game, and boy was it fun.
Blue mage Barret is a hidden gem that made me love the game even more haha!
My favorite is magnify-elemental, elemental-MP absorb. Instant unlimited nukes for Aerith on regular mobs.
And if you slap another elemental spell with HP absorb she self heals too on top of all of that! I have a video project talking about this build coming soon. final touches later tonight
wtf? the combination is really good man,, i havent thought of that,, tnx man,, barret just simply became super tank,, i think we can utilize it for tifa and cloud if we cast barier on them.. tnx for the vid man,, very heplful
Yup most definitely barrier with them would make this much smoother too! Barret is just so beefy and a bully i love it
I wanna play this game again now, but sadly I let my brother borrow it T-T gotta wait til he finishes it and gives it back.
Damn i know the feeling all too well! Haha hopefully he finishes it soon!
Time materia is definitely in my top 5 for sure! I love stopping pressured and staggered enemies
Enemy skill is a must use for me now
Happy to hear that dude! It's my favorite materia by far in this game man I love the way you can modify it
I see what you did in the thumbnail.. I think that's the best materias 😏
👀 idk what you're talking about loool
It's like a never ending frenzy haha I love it! Unlimited power!
Somehow I never put 2 and 2 together here. Great advice.
No worries im glad you found it helpful! All this gets me so excited and I cannot wait for remake part 2
Good stuff!
I got you! Happy you are enjoying this
holy shit ... ima start doing that now ... thanks
Enjoy it! It's hands down my favorite combination in the game
that's awesome the self destruct and surviving
Haha it's soooo funny to land too! They never expect it coming :)
@@BltzZ im in normal mode, and doing the other errands before i enter the shinra building, i only have the self destruct so far now i know where to get the other 3 from which enemies without googling it, thanks man,, keep the content coming, its great, ps i don't know if u covered it, but my dumb ass had no idea u have to use the abilities for the weapons multiple times before u learn it to the character, i was watching u do all these combos and wondered why the F my tifa didn't have the dive technique and focus technnique cause i was clueless and didn't use it cause i didn't know how to play at first and now so far ahead realized in the game arenas i didnt have stuff and learned the proficency was a thing..... im a late bloomer its emaressing......... lol,
Don't worry I'm sure it's happened many times to a lot of players. You'd be surprised. I covered it in the advanced cloud guide during the first ability segement I believe
Hey bltzZ. I just finished normal mode and i was wondering which chapters would you recommend i complete first in hard mode?
This way it'll speed by and aerith will still gain levels too
Hey question can u get more then 2 luck ups n 2 magic ups if u replay the chapters same with first strike
Unfortunately nope they purposefully give you different items if you replay those segments trying to double up
Not sure if this is a thing but I played through normal and finished at lvl 49. When I started playing HM and finally hit lvl 50. I noticed I gained 11 so on that level up. Do you gain more sp per level in HM?
The final level from 49 to 50 gives you 11 SP regardless of the mode :) it's in order to reach the cap of all skills
I thought you were going to add that auto revive equipment
You mean the earrings? Self destruct in this build can fully heal off 4 enemies :) haha
@@BltzZ yea I see now lol
It's hilarious and ridiculous at the same time
Jenova H Christ. that explosion build. i didnt use it in the classic version because it cost mp and was hard to max out. but this might change everything
RIP to the Mobs that try to test you now =] I cannot believe you get fully healed back tho thats just ridiculous
Mythril Saber on Cloud with the "full mp = 20% boost to magic damage" with + magic up's with hp absorb+enemy skill is bonkers
Yes that makes him rival Aeriths magic damage output almost!
i missed the moogey chocobonsummoning materia. is that game changing? or can i continue the story without it?
You can continue without it, when you beat the game you have access to chapter select and can always go back to get it. Chocomog is an ok summon not a big deal to miss. Its the only summon that boosts your luck stat. Increases by 2, I like to give it to tifa since she usually carries my luck up materias
Didn't know about the materia of resistance where can I get the materia all at please help me out with this
Hey subversion can be bought from a item store and also given from a quest i forget which one. I'll consider making a materia location guide for you guys!
Thanks BltzZ
Sorry also looking forward to the materia location guide.
I don’t get how u use it tho do you just run around with that combo and skills will just show up in your options?
Yeah under abilities
Magnify + any elemental materia + MP absorb + same elemental materia + 20% offensive spell Mana reduction is a godsend on hard mode.
Yup I have a video on this called MP hard mode build I believe it was released after this
Wow!! This is genius!
Happy to hear you love it! I'm happy these videos have been hitting you guys really well
Good video.
Does enemy start to resist bad breath when it's used multiple times?
I believe so after 3 times but I've never used it so much to check haha
@@BltzZ thx man
does Subversion give resistance to Instant Death even w/o Warding attached?
Nope you need the warding materia. I tested without it and died instantly :(
Self destruct+death resistance, didn't know it, that's useful
Super useful! Now we can clear trash mobs almost instantly and fully heal off a self destruct lmao
@@BltzZ it heals too?!
Oh yeah, with HP absorb
Haven't used it yet, does self destruct do elemental damage too? If so, is it fire?
I think my favorite command materia they will make later is manipulate can’t wait to take over monsters!!!!! Right now the best single materia is first strike - Atb stagger makes things unfair which is the point of custom builds
First strike is a must have slap on for your big damage and utility characters for sure!
ATB stagger on the party really cuts down bosses fast. I find it difficult to separate from that one when trying to make builds
I have issues with that one as well haha I mainly keep it on tifa for sure since I'm focused striking enemies often. But between Barret cloud and aerith idk haha it's a tossup!
@@BltzZ her final weapon's name really is meta on her materia selection
besides a magnify, maybe an elemental materia.
Blue and yellow materia are always top dog! It's cool to see a lot of purple materia variety in this game. That actually caught me off guard
You missed something with regards to in enemy skill siphon. If you take elemental materia plus, say fire or lightning, and equip it in your offensive slot of a weapon. when you cast siphon to drain HP it takes on the properties of whatever element you have in your linked offensive slot with element materia
Didnt know that
At the end of the video i mention that at the 8:40 mark
@@BltzZ Oh i didnt know it also stacked with the algid aura. I was specifically thinking of the HP drain ability. Good to know it works with all the attacks not just the one.
@@yumyumeatemup No problem! The games system is super unique i cannot wait to see how ff7 remake 2 does everything with the amount of new materia we will get
Sick Vid my dudee.
Thanks always bro
🔥🔥
Steeeeeeeeve
BltzZ Bryyyy
Self destruct is a harness. You have harnessed the harness.
LMAO what other walls can we break now...ALL OF EM
I mean… limits are meant to be broken after all.
Once we do that then now...we can play the game
ATB assist and steadfast materia.I used Cloud most of the time and using L2/R2 a lot through normal and hard mode.
Nice, yes those command menu options are key for hard mode!
"A bit limited in materia"
Maybe, but I've never used so much purple materia as I did during hard mode. It makes me feel like a strategic genius when in reality I'm being a bit cheap :P
Also wow, they straight up just put Armor of Agathys from D&D 5e in the game.
You should check out what you can do now in Intergrade with synergy materia + parry with Tifa. It breaks the game completely I have a video on it
@@BltzZ HOLY Is Really OP Sephiroth Screwed Up When He Killed Aerith
Elemental is my fav :)
Very great option tbh you just can't ignore that one :)
Ok, that one is pretty cool, I kinda want it on Tifa though XD
Oh yeah most definitely use it on her! It's great for all melee characters its just Barret has a better time using it because of his steel skin and defensive capabilities
@@BltzZ I will, you just helped me. Get past pride and joy and obtain my goddammering or whatever it's called :P
I didn’t know you can survive self destruct with that combination. That’s broken bro🥳
Nice stuff... Just another reason why we need a Critical Mode. Feel like spamming square enix.
Man I'm game! I'd love it tbh. I want more of that plus even a VR Coop mode!
oh shit we're surrounded - JUST FUCKIN EXPLODE
enemy skill is perhaps the best materia in original ff7 also. especially early game.
Yup I always go for beta first from the midgar zolom but I always miss Pandora's box at the end smh that damn enemy programming glitch
OMG I can't believe If FFVII Remake had the Malboro and the Tonberry
Yup! Be sure to check out my legends boss guide to see me manhandle both of them :)
@@BltzZ ok I will
This is some cheese man
All the cheese in the world
@@BltzZ will definitely try this on my boy Sephiroth once I get my hands on the game
The problem is that by the time you get access to all this stuff, you don't need it anymore.
Not necessarily, hard mode this combination does great damage and awesome heals returned!
Now here's a really interesting question.... Is Self-destruct affected by Arcane Ward? Since I won't get to play FF7R until it hits PC release, someone else might have to answer that....
Also, Aerith casting Self-destruct may be the new meme....
Haha unfortunately self destruct is technically an Ability and arcane ward only affects offensive magic spells like Fire etc
@@BltzZ Well that's just lame. Haha.
Tried the enemy skill hp absorption self destruction and I died
I didn't see this coming. I'll try this. I already have this materia in my invertory anyway, lol
I gotta surprise you guys every now and then right :)
LOOLLL!
Normal Player : Self-Destruct, player KO
BltzZ : Self-Descruct = Heals HP
#MindBlown
Lmaooo when you put it that way it makes me laugh out loud for real! Mind literally blown
Nice thumbnail
Haha thanks man! I went through a few designs before creating this one. Glad I took the time and created it
this literally makes tifa unstopable.... ive finished the game twice and never thought of this...
Combine this with our instant limit break build! And Tifa solo runs are OP
Dope. This is a materia that I barely even touched. Looking forward to trying this out
Happy to hear that! It changes the game up for me and makes melee range feel soooo good
Mannnnn i can't believe in that, i don't use that materia
the MWP materia is back...
Forever
