Wow, the G Body Monty Carlo getting some love, right on! Such a great looking car.
The Montie has never been neglected. They're a dime a dozen back home. Now, short of the Buicks, the rest of the G-Body line has.
@@SGTJDerek I have always LOVED the Monte SS.
I’m obsessed with these gbody. Prolly my favorite and I own an ELCO but the Monte is just gorgeous. Check o the video I just made with my buddies 88 Monte carlo
A friend of mine had one of these '87 Aerocoupes. The 305 might be gutless by today's standards, but back in the late 80's his Monte Carlo could keep up with or pass almost anything else we ran across. Cars in the 80's were ALL gutless, so that wimpy 305 was a real killer back then.
It's nice to see one of these classic beauties given the love it deserves.
The GN and GNX disagree with you.
@@markbrinton6790 - There weren't any of those in our neck of the woods back then. No doubt that a Grand National could have put my friend in his place!
People seem to forget that a standard car in those days had maybe 120 hp. So yes, 180hp was a nice bump in performance in those days. These Montes are excellent platforms to build into beasts with the full frame, rear wheel drive and large engine compartment.
Are you kidding those 305s were dogs.😮.
Basic bolt on stuff... in just 5 days....Just make sure you have a lift a full crew of professional mechanics and unlimited funds LOL
JJD 1481 thanks, MT...this is much better than Roadkill for free. NOT.
@Slap yo momma slap yo momma!!!!
Add to that shiny floors, pros for each part install, and vehicles with zero rust!
I wish they'd showed you what u could do with other parts from GM platforms like Blazer front brakes or better rear end from an SS Grand National. bigger front sway bars from a Firebird Etc
@@darrenporsch that would require research... all they do is call all their sponsors and say hey i have....... send me the most expensive parts you have for it and we will plug you... none of them are doing real world builds anymore
That was hilarious at the end,,, the guy in the passenger seat couldn't get out of there quick enough... And just when he thought it was safe,,, more white knuckles in the parking lot... Awesome build!!!
This car brings back memories of when I was 18 and worked for a small buy here pay here dealership and in the showroom was an 87 Monte SS with a fully built and stroked high compression 572 running on Turbo Blue and the chassis only had 149 miles on it...yes, 149 miles. It was all black with red striping and accents. It had a line lock and a manual valve body on the built 700R4. Beautiful car. He also had a 65 Chevy C10 with the same engine and drivetrain in it.
Had a 87 in 88, kept it ten years, now enjoying a pristine 85 example .Reliving the dream all over again. Thanks for your "Jegs Class"" of what it's all about!!!
Throw the catalog at it. Love it.
...makes me want my 87 MCSS repaired since I bought a shell with a 355sbc and 400 turbo trans just waiting...
Any luck??
I like the factory look on the wheels better.
Yeah I like the factory look also I also understand the lower profile gives you better cornering not so much Tire to roll under the rim I guess we can't have both
While I agree that the factory wheels look great, the tires and wheels(they look to be 17 inch wheels) they chose for the car could have been a lot worse i.e. 22's with ultra low profile tires and the car sitting 'on the ground'.
Unfortunately the new brakes will not work with the stock wheels but im with ya on that. Would look sweet with a set of stock looking polished monte wheels
What's nice is that the aftermarket made "Pontiac Rallye" styled rims in modern sizes, but like everyone else, I think the "i'm-A-80's-Chevy" rims look sweet, it's really too bad.
........... on another note "Unckle Festers World of Shitery" user name is f'n great!
Me too, I wonder what it would of looked like with the US Wheel N90 rim's on it, they look like the one's that they took off but punched out to 17"
My favorite car till this day still wouldn't mind having one hard top & t-top
Lol I wish JEGS just handed me a ton of parts too.
I have always had a soft spot for this Monte Carlo.
The cheap yellow stickers need to go
Na man everyone knows the stickers add 10 how😂
Those stickers kill the whole car
Really love these week to wicked builds! Hope you guys keep dropping more of these.
Now I’m think about my 87 EuroCap Cutlass. She would be a monster with these mods, but I sold her 13 years ago. I may need to get me another one. Love the build.
T top aero coupe. Rare ride. Fun to drive with the t tops off
Much better! Next time it would be cool to have a little more info on the parts used - like what rack and pinion kit was used? Also it would be cool to have some data points like 0-60, 1/4 mile time, lap times, skid pad before and after.
@@grandmasmalibu Totally!
@@larney37 I found this video because i just bought an 85 ss. I want to do most of the same stuff (over time) A list of part numbers or links would be helpful.
All around gr8 build video. Everything about this build was on point. What I really like is the fact that they kept all of there f ups made the look like something me and my friends would have done
Beautiful car !!!😊❤ excellent job 👏 👍
The way this guy hates on big sidewall 80s tires makes me hate his guts lol
Low pro suck too! Find the best fit for your life.
Crazy how popular g-bodies have become in the last 5-10 years
This is awesome. I like the old Monte
Basic bolt-on stuff huh? I guess technically that new engine and trans is bolt on 🤷♂️
yes, I seen no glue.
Not bolt on...bolt in !!
Yep
I love the gbodys and have bought parts jegs for years now
Great job on the car! I love it.
The original Monte Carlo wheel looked better than what y'all put on there
Good edit job at 2:06 ! Lol. I really wanted to here the Magazine Rep go in on the radio. Most likely rant about what he wouldn't do to a car that's not his. Good job on the light resto mod.
The amount of times you hear "uhhh" in this video is crazy lol
5 days with lots of money and lots of help.
Love it I have a silver 86 tuned port 350 and Tremec 6 speed
You can tell around the 19 minute mark that dude with the beard wanted to laugh with homeboy in the background jammin.
Great Vid fellas! I personally would have some fatter meats out back, but real smooth. I remember them coming in nbn that chocolate brown or root beer color as well. Would love to see that bill cost...lol
Need more episodes like this one!
I caught that "it's the end of day 5 and I'm exhausted" after he put the last weld on the exhaust😊
26:58 - a broken stud and a generic spacer. Nice job, Jegs.
Well spotted ! I couldn't watch the whole thing. So bad 👎
I absolutely love older, classic cars. You guys should do a pre war vehicle soon!
Learned how to parallel park, took my driving test with one of these minus the aero coup. They are putting every suspension part that is used to fantasize about in the bathroom...
My favorite week to wicked build... and I dont think the yellow jegs stickers look bad I like them just my opinion...
Beautiful car
You guys test drove right next to my job lol
Nice upgrades
Nice. Killer Job.
"We're going to show you how to measure for a custom drive shaft" *transitions to camera were we cant see him measuring the pinion*
"There you go"
Yeah I realize we have the option to watch or not but... Every build on RUclips "and here's how" *proceeds to pan away* or *proceeds to putting on wheels instead of showing how they frankensteined a strut tower* etc, never fails, ruins credibility.
@@ToreDL87 no questions left unanswered on binky.
Take your yoke put it in the trans, measure from the flat edge of u joint cup on yoke to the same on the rear end yoke bam done.
The Stock wheels are way better than the ones yall chose in my opinion.
Honestly, a 5.3 LS with aftermarket heads, a cam, long tubes, an aftermarket intake manifold, full true 3" duals, some Flowmaster Super 40s, a Tremec Magnum 6 speed manual, and that would be plenty of power for that chassis to make it a fun driver. HOWEVER, it would be even better with either a LSA or a LT4 swap... 😉
this show is proof that with enough money you too can have a nice car
i love the aerocoupe you never se them anymore
Good stuff.
Very very good!,🇲🇽👍
Thank you for a full episode .Please we need more .No more b.s
this more like brand new Monte Carlo than a restomod. i like those wheels
That G Body shuffle...
Shittiest factory rear suspension possible for the g bodies wont go steaight even if you pay em. Lol
Doing the G Body shuffle
I would luv to have 1 of these. 1 day 🙏
Great !
So ya took a fairly rare low mile car and ruined it for alot of money. Why?
Do that with a junkyard car...not an original survivor.
Because people like to not only look at their cars they enjoy driving them as well.
Just wait till I finish my all original 50,000 mile 80 turbo Trans Am pace car 😎
It'll look amazing & perform even better & I'll have a remote start etc & a real turbocharged v8 under the hood.
Best of both worlds to me.
You have the look & feel of the classic car & can enjoy it in every way.
What engine you put in there?
Did I miss the part where you listed engine size, hp & torque ratings on the new build?
yup 383 500hp and almost as much torq
Yeah🤣🤣
Gbody 🤘
Mmmmm, G-Body love!!!!!
Yeah that 305l last forever I have one with 207,000 miles on it not a lifter tap not a drop of oil leaking these guys are raging on the car that body style was drop-dead gorgeous and the prices on these cars are just going up
My Superhero Car...😁
I need to do something like this with my life!
I like the OEM wheels, I believe US mags makes oversized replicas
"because NASCAR" .. lol
MTC hey I have an 86 Monte SS you guys ever need to do this again... give me a ring! You can convert mine anyday!
@ 18:55 how my kids act when they're fighting their sleep😂
I’d say maybe $20k invested there in upgrades.....but they could figure out a 2$ tail lamp bulb 30:53
it's more than 20k.
Wat size tires did u guys put on the rims?
Did you guys leave the 7.5 rear end in it to or was that swapped? Sorry if I miss it in the video
Gbody life
Another music video!!!
All the most expensive aftermarkets you can find
My first car was a silver t-top 87 SS (non-aerocoupe) and that was the best car Ive ever owned. Ive even tried tracking it down via VIN number to buy it back, but lead to a dead end. Cmon Jegs...hook it up and make my dream come true...give me this car!
Awesome have a great time
That guy Steve was out of his Element. Why was he even invited? Super Chevy editor? 😂
How much did all this cost? I love these old Montes my grandma had one always drooled over it when I was lil. Got an 85 sitting in the driveway total project would use some of thsee upgrades for sure.
All ik is the suspension alone is 5k
What's with the funky back window lol... well let me tell you lil boy.
Come on guys throw some base prices out there $$$
Here's the base price... all your money and a high interest rate loan on top
I got one 😎
Please list the parts, and the budget ex labor. Nice that this type of stuff is available.
Im looking for the cost of parts also

Parts list and links
More car/less cabin talk at the end. Nice build though. Would be cool to give an estimate on the build cost.
It would still blister the T/As
It’s crazy how all these people work on 1 engine together. My dad does all his work alone.
Drive shaft length is stock length, when he said 52.5” that’s same as my stock and my new drive shaft.
lol the 4l60 is probably already fried.
They put in a 2004r
Allen Diaz the pan was not a 200-4r..it’s square so it’s 700-r4 or 4L60
My 84 was low power but seemed a lot faster than that one, almost wanted to pull second. I thought the steering was perfect.
I might have missed it but what Motor did they go with and what are the numbers
Very nice car Jegs.i would love for y all to take my 84ss Monte Carlo. and fix it up
I hope they reinforce the frame for that 500 horse monster😳😳☣💀
Cool Teachings
$25.000 in parts. Man hours - couldn't guess.
Me n 1 buddy could do it in a week or less with these parts. No fab needed
Would be nice to see something out of the norm like a 1980-90 B-Body. All the other platforms are getting old (chevells, g-body, skylark, cutlass, nova).
How much do you thing they are into this car for 25 - 40 k ?
A reman 402 big block and a good 400 turbo were all that car needed.
I love jegs. The prices are better, they ship faster, and it’s quality parts
Another "too cool for school host"!
What was the cost to complete the job I have a 87 Monte Carlo ss I would like to get it done one day this year I live in Florida
I need all those parts you took off.
That car is cool, the people in the video and the comment section sucks. Y'all are too negative on the car.
hmmm, i think I'll buy an 87 Grand National instead. can buy it stock for less than what this cost to build and go 5 times as fast with 2 small mods :)
What type of qa1 coil overs did they use
