Adrian stays through a day 3 (and I think 4), and you'll notice black mesa more destroyed.. more black ops, areas in rubble, and RACE-X being introduced as another universe caught up in the cascade event. Adrians perspective is still the latest visual aid we have of Earth, before the 7 hour war happens. The next time we see earth, is 20 years later in HL2. Who knows what a Day 6 or 7 would have looked like? (Barney Calhoun knows) Storytelling- wise, I think Opposing force is the best in the series, still to this day. That part in the biodome chapters you got lost was because the Shock Trooper corpse blocked the door that you were supposed to go then you had to take a massive detour to progress to the next chapter.
Correction the Resonance cascade wasnt caused by Gordan freeman. However he was blammed since almost no one who was apart of the test survived. G-man had provided the purest sample ever seen to Black mesa which the machine made to examine the xenon crystal wasnt designed for the level of purity of the crystal. Once they were obtained by the scientists they were ordered to also put the machine to 110% operating effeciency which caused the cascade. The G-man being the actual cause through manipulation against all precautions set before when analyzing the samples.
Why did gman do that just to then fight against the combine tho, like he causes the combine to come to earth then spends all his time after helping Gordon to get rid of them

I played OG Half-Life back in '99 or 2000 on a 166 MHz machine I built with components salvaged out of broken PCs from the local junkyard. It was the first PC I built and Half-Life was at least 50% of the reason I even built that machine. I still replay HL1 every couple years but the last couple times were kind of a breeze, even on hard mode. I think it might be time to revisit Opposing Force, if only for the barnacle and engineer…
I suggest getting some friends together and playing them all HL1, BS, OF, are all coop using a mod called sven coop. Also increases enemy health and more enemies spawn in.
I’m currently playing blue shift, think I’m over 50% in now. I find it ok, the levels do contain an excessive amount of health packs lol and weapon selection seems weak
12:45 that happened to me at the start of the original halflife; where the crab gets smashed by a falling server if you are too fast, you get smashed too. i died to a few other environmental details too but none stuck out as much as the 1st playthrough instadeath at the start XD

The Barnacle makes appearances in several Sven Co-op maps, which you might like. It's a multiplayer co-op mod where you play through these custom map sets with up to 32 teammates, smacking each other with crowbars and bunnyhopping around and just having a great time. You can play through the entire HL1 campaign on it too.
Its just me that thinks that the IA for the Aliens in all the older Half Life games are CRAZYYYY Like, they have smell, hunger, they scout around, they sleep, they can do very especific things (for example houndeyes when they are alone dont atack, but in groups do. Bullsquids drinking blood. That Miner vorts that dont atack u in the start and just atack u after the alarm) Is crazy ia for a such a old game

One of my favorite things about this game is that if you have both this and the original installed you can use the dev console to play through the original game as shephard. It's buggy and missing some animations and dialogue but you can play basically from start to finish lol
I thought that too until I replayed them back to back for the first time in years. I was shocked to find OP4 was a boring slog, but Blue Shift had amazing fights and was a very tight experience.

If you don't know more about the Displacer Canon Weapon. It's Black Mesa's Answer to the Portal Gun since Aperture laboratory (Portal) and Black Mesa (Half-Life) is competing each other to see who can get Teleportation first or Discover a New world. But Black Mesa Discovered Xen. But Race X tried their best to fight Black Mesa and Xen which they failed. Enough of that Lore. The Displacer Canon is Actually based off or Inspired by DOOM (1993)'s BFG 9000 Which also shoots a giant green Orb that Insta-kills everything. So it's basically a Portal Gun (Without putting 2 Portals to travel to the Other Portal) And the BFG from Doom. Oh, And G-Man Nukes Black Mesa if you couldn't tell the Giant flash That happened when G-man puts you in the Chopper.
If you like playing as the enemy, then after finishing every game in the main series (including HL: Alyx if possible) you should try the Entropy Zero series. It's one of, if not the best Half Life mods out there. It lets you play as the main enemy from the HL2 series, and it basically writes itself into the canon story. The quality of that mod and the dedication that the devs put in is immaculate.

I dont want to be that guy, but 1. Gonomes (big zombies) throw their meat at you, not headcrabs. You might mistakenly described Gonarch(big headcrab boss from hl1). 15:15 it was actually destructable (you can hear the sound of it being breakable), you need to hit it two times. After you complete all of the Half Life and Portal game I would really love seeing you play Sven Co-Op with your friends especially with Yogi Its just Hl1 but Co-Op and it's tons of fun You can also play both the expansions and any I mean any Half life mod Co-Op with Sven Co-Op There's a way to play Hl2 Co-Op it's called Synergy but it's not as polished as Sven Co-Op Also in Portal 2 it has it's own Official Co-op mode.
I think it actually makes more sense that the Marines wouldn't give the orders until they'd already arrived and were in the shit, because if that gave them before or on the way there, there would've been MASS mutinies happening and the whole coverup would've been fucked

I think it is fair to say that the hev suit freeman has probably is an exoskeleton suit that provides extra strength or otherwise he could not have been a match to the marines physically to pull this off… similarly his crowbar swing is very strong.
After all the main games from the series, I recommend modding. The mods made for this game can and are full of lore. Field intensity takes the bad guys perspective to a whole new level, to the point where you are actually supposed to kill the scientists. It’s a full game length too 😭
Opposing Force still holds up pretty well. It’s too bad Blue Shift was such a step backward. You’re going to love HL2 and both episodes though and if you have a VR headset, Alyx is really good too, as well as the HL2 VR mods
Opposing Force done everything right for something that was always meant to be an expansion rather than a sequel. In fact, if were to name my top 5 most amazing game expansions of all time, OpForce would certainly made that list without a second thought. Gearbox's formula of literally 'expanding' on the original game was pretty straightforward, but the way they executed it is what made this title such a memorable piece of gaming history. First, there was literally nothing hotter back in the late '90s than marines fighting aliens, so the choice experiencing the incident at Black Mesa from the POV of a HECU marine, was basically a no brainer. Not only could you play as a marine who visited a portion of the original game's areas, discover completely new, never seen again sectors of the facility and world beyond, but you got your own unique and extremally stylistic training level, which also enhanced the new protagonist's background. The interactions with other marine and BM personnel was limited and more often than not heavy-handed if not outright frustrating due to how the AI behaved back then, but the voice acting, the dialogues between the marines, etc. really helped to look beyond those limitations. The second key aspect of what made OpForce such a household name in the franchise is the overwhelming abundance of the player's available arsenal. Gearbox absolutely knocked it out of the water with the number of weapons and other 'tools' with which we, as the player, could now approach combat situations. Rather than copying and/or adding few new toys here and there, we were now carrying basically all of the basic, and most commonly available weapons from the original game, while also unlocking a whole cargo load of more sophisticated weapons. They still failed to address one of the base game's biggest flaws, which become even more pronounced in this expansion, which is that the extreme versatility of the Shotgun combined with the ridiculous limit of shells you could carry with you, meant that it is perfectly fine and doable to use it for 65% of the game, which is a lot considering how many more options are on the table. Most new weapons followed the formula set in the original game, i.e. be good at something very specific, without making other tools feel obsolete, but the sheer number of the overall available arsenal was simply crushing! For instance, approaching a certain combat arena where you would normally run and spray with your MP5 and maybe switch to a Magnum, could now be tackled with completely new and unique weapon combinations and tactics. Despite how short Gearbox's expansion is, they actually managed to create environments and opportunities to utilize literally every available tool, including some 'meme' weapons like the Tripmine. They also weren't afraid to bring in their own new aliens and even introduced each new entity type in a thematic way, e.g. Pit Drones swarming the player, chasing him relentlessly while hunting in packs, Voltigores creeping in dark, underground tunnels, spawning more monsters and ambushing the player, or the male Black Operatives who virtually replaced the baseline HECU Grunt opponent, with a very light twist of being slightly more agile, durable, and thematic. So this is slowly growing to be a gargantuan comment, but fuck me! Opposing Force is such an amazing and inspiring interactive piece of media, I could talk about it for hours ^^'
I mean...that 'logic' is only really frustrating if you're not paying attention. The lever is easily visible on the first one, but the second one? The one with the large noticeable warning sign about disconnecting electricity directly next to a power box with a big thick wire leading up to all the lights in the room? The only way that gets more obvious is if they put a neon sign in it pointing to the box.
Half-life fans ( totally not me ) when Gordon freeman doesn’t have the same amount of beard hair in a game that takes 20 years after the first game 😡😡😡😡😡😡

9:50 Kelski, Let me just remind you Adrian has only his bare strength. Whereas, Gordon has the H.E.V. suit. A suit that was purpose built to work in the hazardous conditions of Zen. So, no doubt it probably has the ability to enhance the operator's strength in some way. Likely through hydraulics
A suggestion for you, Kelski - play Half Life:Paranoia, a short mod for Half Life 1 that takes place outside the half life universe. You play as a russian spetsnaz officer sent to a secret russian lab and encounter... interesting things. It's probably one of the if not the best half life mods ever made!
Things here would have been so much easier and better if they were just ordered to evacuate and protect all remaining Black Mesa survivors, security guards and scientists alike, while fighting the creatures. And if the Black Ops units were never ordered to shoot the HECU units on sight as well and if they were all told that it wasn't actually Freeman's fault. The G-Man was behind it all to begin with. A lot more would have been saved. Loved all three Half Life 1 games. Nostalgia!

In my opinion, the next expansion Blue Shift is mid tier at best, but you should still definitely play it! (At least before Half Life 2)

I thought that too until I replayed them back to back for the first time in years. I was shocked to find OP4 was a boring slog, but Blue Shift had amazing fights and was a very tight experience.

It's Black Mesa's Answer to the Portal Gun since Aperture laboratory (Portal) and Black Mesa (Half-Life) is competing each other to see who can get Teleportation first or Discover a New world. But Black Mesa Discovered Xen. But Race X tried their best to fight Black Mesa and Xen which they failed. Enough of that Lore. The Displacer Canon is Actually based off or Inspired by DOOM (1993)'s BFG 9000 Which also shoots a giant green Orb that Insta-kills everything. So it's basically a Portal Gun (Without putting 2 Portals to travel to the Other Portal) And the BFG from Doom. Oh, And G-Man Nukes Black Mesa if you couldn't tell the Giant flash That happened when G-man puts you in the Chopper.

I am legit hyped for you to try and be amazed by Half - Life 2.
If you like playing as the enemy, then after finishing every game in the main series (including HL: Alyx if possible) you should try the Entropy Zero series. It's one of, if not the best Half Life mods out there. It lets you play as the main enemy from the HL2 series, and it basically writes itself into the canon story. The quality of that mod and the dedication that the devs put in is immaculate.

1. Gonomes (big zombies) throw their meat at you, not headcrabs. You might mistakenly described Gonarch(big headcrab boss from hl1).

You can also play both the expansions and any I mean any Half life mod Co-Op with Sven Co-Op
There's a way to play Hl2 Co-Op it's called Synergy but it's not as polished as Sven Co-Op
Also in Portal 2 it has it's own Official Co-op mode.

I think it actually makes more sense that the Marines wouldn't give the orders until they'd already arrived and were in the shit, because if that gave them before or on the way there, there would've been MASS mutinies happening and the whole coverup would've been fucked

I think it is fair to say that the hev suit freeman has probably is an exoskeleton suit that provides extra strength or otherwise he could not have been a match to the marines physically to pull this off… similarly his crowbar swing is very strong.

After all the main games from the series, I recommend modding. The mods made for this game can and are full of lore. Field intensity takes the bad guys perspective to a whole new level, to the point where you are actually supposed to kill the scientists. It’s a full game length too 😭

Opposing Force still holds up pretty well. It’s too bad Blue Shift was such a step backward. You’re going to love HL2 and both episodes though and if you have a VR headset, Alyx is really good too, as well as the HL2 VR mods

Opposing Force done everything right for something that was always meant to be an expansion rather than a sequel.
In fact, if were to name my top 5 most amazing game expansions of all time, OpForce would certainly made that list without a second thought.
Gearbox's formula of literally 'expanding' on the original game was pretty straightforward, but the way they executed it is what made this title such a memorable piece of gaming history.
First, there was literally nothing hotter back in the late '90s than marines fighting aliens, so the choice experiencing the incident at Black Mesa from the POV of a HECU marine, was basically a no brainer.
Not only could you play as a marine who visited a portion of the original game's areas, discover completely new, never seen again sectors of the facility and world beyond, but you got your own unique and extremally stylistic training level, which also enhanced the new protagonist's background.
The interactions with other marine and BM personnel was limited and more often than not heavy-handed if not outright frustrating due to how the AI behaved back then, but the voice acting, the dialogues between the marines, etc. really helped to look beyond those limitations.
The second key aspect of what made OpForce such a household name in the franchise is the overwhelming abundance of the player's available arsenal.
Gearbox absolutely knocked it out of the water with the number of weapons and other 'tools' with which we, as the player, could now approach combat situations.
Rather than copying and/or adding few new toys here and there, we were now carrying basically all of the basic, and most commonly available weapons from the original game, while also unlocking a whole cargo load of more sophisticated weapons.
They still failed to address one of the base game's biggest flaws, which become even more pronounced in this expansion, which is that the extreme versatility of the Shotgun combined with the ridiculous limit of shells you could carry with you, meant that it is perfectly fine and doable to use it for 65% of the game, which is a lot considering how many more options are on the table.
Most new weapons followed the formula set in the original game, i.e. be good at something very specific, without making other tools feel obsolete, but the sheer number of the overall available arsenal was simply crushing!
For instance, approaching a certain combat arena where you would normally run and spray with your MP5 and maybe switch to a Magnum, could now be tackled with completely new and unique weapon combinations and tactics.
Despite how short Gearbox's expansion is, they actually managed to create environments and opportunities to utilize literally every available tool, including some 'meme' weapons like the Tripmine.
They also weren't afraid to bring in their own new aliens and even introduced each new entity type in a thematic way, e.g. Pit Drones swarming the player, chasing him relentlessly while hunting in packs, Voltigores creeping in dark, underground tunnels, spawning more monsters and ambushing the player, or the male Black Operatives who virtually replaced the baseline HECU Grunt opponent, with a very light twist of being slightly more agile, durable, and thematic.
So this is slowly growing to be a gargantuan comment, but fuck me! Opposing Force is such an amazing and inspiring interactive piece of media, I could talk about it for hours ^^'

I mean...that 'logic' is only really frustrating if you're not paying attention. The lever is easily visible on the first one, but the second one? The one with the large noticeable warning sign about disconnecting electricity directly next to a power box with a big thick wire leading up to all the lights in the room? The only way that gets more obvious is if they put a neon sign in it pointing to the box.

9:50 Kelski, Let me just remind you Adrian has only his bare strength. Whereas, Gordon has the H.E.V. suit. A suit that was purpose built to work in the hazardous conditions of Zen. So, no doubt it probably has the ability to enhance the operator's strength in some way. Likely through hydraulics

A suggestion for you, Kelski - play Half Life:Paranoia, a short mod for Half Life 1 that takes place outside the half life universe.
You play as a russian spetsnaz officer sent to a secret russian lab and encounter... interesting things. It's probably one of the if not the best half life mods ever made!

Things here would have been so much easier and better if they were just ordered to evacuate and protect all remaining Black Mesa survivors, security guards and scientists alike, while fighting the creatures. And if the Black Ops units were never ordered to shoot the HECU units on sight as well and if they were all told that it wasn't actually Freeman's fault. The G-Man was behind it all to begin with. A lot more would have been saved. Loved all three Half Life 1 games. Nostalgia!
