A: You need to buy a ps2 copy on third party websites for some expensive prices. Or B: download a mod version of it on mod db. And even setting up the multiplayer is an absolute hastle. You can either play it localy with no problems whatsoever, or literaly create a whole server just to play online. So just a heads up. But if you are willing to go through that, than go for it!
One you finish with the series you should play the community mods Entropy:zero and Entropy:zero 2. They are very good and you play as a combine from half life 2
@@kel_ski incase you actually play with low hp, i recommend you DONT use hard mode, anything but hard mode, half life 2 cannot be played with low hp, but since you played half life 1 with low hp on hard mode, then im assuming you will be able to finish hl2 with low hp :) oh and let me tell you this, half life 2 is MUCH more fun than half life 1

Barney absolutely nopes out of Black Mesa well before Gordon and Shepherd. There's a decent video showing their locations in the facility during the event that mapped all 3 games
the shotgun in half life was always a spas-12. They just didn't do the video game thing of leaving the stock up and in the way of the iron sights like Call of Duty does. If you actually look real close at the model, you can see the square heat shielding and round butt of a spas 12.

Fun Fact About Blue Shift: If you don't know, The Game used to be on the Cancelled port 'The Dreamcast'. The port didn't get Cancelled, The Console did. So they ported the game to PC, That's where the HD Models came from. Half of the HD Models in the Game is from the Dreamcast Port which was Exclusive. It's the reason why Barney.. Or you like to call him "Barry" uses the Same weapons as Gordon, And also the Training room is the Same since Blue Shift didn't had one since it used to be a Exclusive expansion to the Dreamcast. Oh, one more thing, This Game didn't Use half of the Goldsrc Engine, It was made from the Ground up since the Game used to be a Console Port. But the Only half-life game that Has it's own Console port is "Half-Life: Decay" which is exclusive to PS2. And If you want to play the Best version of Blue Shift, Try the Black Mesa Mod (Half-Life 1 Remake) Called "Black Mesa: Blue Shift.

You know? The blue boxes you use as "Power"? and The HEV Suit Chargers, They added a Hitbox where you cannot use the Charger. This game had more Illusions, If you want to find out more, the youtuber 'lymphoid' made a Video covering all Illusions in the Game.

You making these videos actually made me replay the origin Half Life + expansions again, and oh boy they are truly amazing. Now you should play the community remaster of Half Life called Black Mesa. It's much more than just a graphical upgrade, including more interactive npcs and completely overhalling the Xen chapters. It's much more forgiving than the original Half Life, but still a phenomenal experience, even for replaying Xen alone. Highly recommend!

I genuinely believe that Blue Shift captures the Half Life 1 aesthetic best, just due to having such density in its set dressing and level design. It feels way more full and alive than the other two entries. It's a shame it's... kinda uneventful and weirdly paced, sure. But it has that going for it at least.

This expansion was originally a fun little extra thing you got with the Dreamcast port of Half Life, so it being short is not a big deal in that context. But making it a stand alone expansion you can buy for PC... yeah it's really short.

One thing I wish Blue shift did was have Barry save Gordon Freeman after soldier captured him who decided to just throw him into dumpster without executing him, put a extra bullet to work to confirm the kill. Found that sence the biggest plot hole of the game. Barry get teleport in, kill the soldiers but had to dump Gordon in the dumpster as a save point as he was about to be teleport away, barry give him the crowbar which you (as Freeman) find in the dumpster. Passing on the crowbar.

(PC pack was 99, Dreamcast version would be out in 2000 with Blueshift, and PS2 version would be out in 2001 with Decay). The Dreamcast Version kept getting delayed and was ultimately cancelled just a week before release in June 2001 (they couldn't fix a bug causing memory leakage and save file bloat, and by this point the Dreamcast had been out of production for 3 months. Another delay and it would probably sell terribly) so Blueshift was quickly yoinked to PC(some of the models look worse than they did on Dreamcast as a consequence). The PS2 version ended up coming out on schedule though, so Decay was included. Since the original plan of 1 expansion per system was already ruined though there WAS a PC port of Decay in development and close to being finished by mid 2002. Valve pulled the plug partially since they've have to include online multiplayer for it to work on PC and that costs, and partially because HL2 was in development fully and they wanted hype and focus on that. The Dreamcast Version WAS basically finished though, you can find the final build online relatively easily and play it on a stock dreamcast. You just have to be careful where you save due to the memory leak issue. And yes, Blueshift is included, the people who played the leaked dreamcast version on discs actually got to blueshift first and spoiled the game a couple months ahead of time for PC players funnily enough. And yeah, since the PC one had both the most sales, the most valve backing, and the most time, they got the biggest pack with the most content. OpFor had to be bought on it's own while the other two were freebies. They also stuck in Team Fortress Classic in some of the later releases. Valve still occasionally tops up the old games. They recently released the 25th aniversary version of Half Life 1, which FINALLY replaced the horrible source version as the default Steam recommends, and it also includes a couple of cut levels from the demo integrated seamlessly, making the game 90 minutes longer. It's the new definitive version(Guessing you missed it since it came out at the end of November 2023 after you already did most of the first game) and you can't even buy Source anymore without typing in the URL. So there's always a chance in 2026 they patch things up with Gearbox and release all 3 HL1 expansions together with the original high quality models for Blue Shift and Decay(all 3 combined are about as long as Half Life 1 if not slightly longer)

An absolutely important detail many Blue Shift criticizers overlook is that Blue Shift...wasn't originally meant to be a standalone expansion released on PC. It was an additional episode meant for the Dreamcast port of Half-Life before that got canned, as a bonus to play. That's why there's no Opposing Force elements and it's much shorter with less than the full array of weapons. Of course, people say it shouldn't have been called an expansion then, but that's a marketing problem and not a problem with the game. It was never going to be what people unfairly expected from what was simply some extra chapters to play through and that's why people who turn their nose up at it for those reasons bother me. (Also the HD models are great, fight me.)
Another reason why Blue Shift didn't get anything from Opposing Force was because the team who was working on the Dreamcast port was only able to use what was already ported over (aka base Half Life), so they literally couldn't add anything from Opposing Forces, hence why Race X or any weapons from Opposing Force isn't in Blue Shift even when it was made a standalone expansion.
The funny thing is it wasn't the game that got canned it was the Dreamcast itself. The Dreamcast port was actually fully complete and right when they pretty much had to just release it Sega went "NOPE we are pulling the plug on the Dreamcast". They had all that game fully made and probably didn't wanted it to go to waste. Makes you wonder what would have happened if the Dreamcast actually got released. We likely never would have gotten the HD models and Blue Shift would have been this very obscure thing that not a lot of people would have played.
The only game left to complete the Half-Life Infinity Gauntlet is Decay. It was a PS2 exclusive split-screen coop campaign, but can be played these days on PC as a mod. Takes about 3 hours

You must play Crowbar Collective, Black Mesa Blue Shift. Yes, chapt. 5 is yet to be released. But it's more intensive & great interaction w/the main characters. ........ & currently still having installments developed. I can't wait for the "focal point" chapter. & the firefights are great. Murdock, Ronny & Otis ...... boy those fellers are kickass. 💥
Barney having a crowbar makes sense when you think about how he just had one lying around for Gordon in Half-Life 2, maybe it is the same crowbar from Blue Shift since G-Man confiscated Gordon's weapons due to them being "Government property" after killing Nihilanth.

Honestly, I watched the video on the OG Half-Life and went to beat Half-Life 2 for the first time. I can confidently say that you will have fun on Hard.

So there's always a chance in 2026 they patch things up with Gearbox and release all 3 HL1 expansions together with the original high quality models for Blue Shift and Decay(all 3 combined are about as long as Half Life 1 if not slightly longer)

An absolutely important detail many Blue Shift criticizers overlook is that Blue Shift...wasn't originally meant to be a standalone expansion released on PC. It was an additional episode meant for the Dreamcast port of Half-Life before that got canned, as a bonus to play. That's why there's no Opposing Force elements and it's much shorter with less than the full array of weapons. Of course, people say it shouldn't have been called an expansion then, but that's a marketing problem and not a problem with the game. It was never going to be what people unfairly expected from what was simply some extra chapters to play through and that's why people who turn their nose up at it for those reasons bother me. (Also the HD models are great, fight me.)
Another reason why Blue Shift didn't get anything from Opposing Force was because the team who was working on the Dreamcast port was only able to use what was already ported over (aka base Half Life), so they literally couldn't add anything from Opposing Forces, hence why Race X or any weapons from Opposing Force isn't in Blue Shift even when it was made a standalone expansion.
The funny thing is it wasn't the game that got canned it was the Dreamcast itself. The Dreamcast port was actually fully complete and right when they pretty much had to just release it Sega went "NOPE we are pulling the plug on the Dreamcast". They had all that game fully made and probably didn't wanted it to go to waste. Makes you wonder what would have happened if the Dreamcast actually got released. We likely never would have gotten the HD models and Blue Shift would have been this very obscure thing that not a lot of people would have played.
ill say this about the HD models , the HECU HD models are the best thing of it

The only game left to complete the Half-Life Infinity Gauntlet is Decay. It was a PS2 exclusive split-screen coop campaign, but can be played these days on PC as a mod. Takes about 3 hours

Barney having a crowbar makes sense when you think about how he just had one lying around for Gordon in Half-Life 2, maybe it is the same crowbar from Blue Shift since G-Man confiscated Gordon's weapons due to them being "Government property" after killing Nihilanth.
