Living full-time in my rolling tiny home has been the best decision of my life. Off-Grid living offers a peace and connection to life that you just can't explain. When i first started van life i build a stealth camper van with the mindset the you had to live a stealth van life and i soon discovered that you can just live the city van life and boondock in the countryside and as long as you are respectful of the backcountry and cities you live in. Stealth van life in not necessary. Be proud of the life you choose to live, Share this van life journey with everyone. Remember Tiny Homes and The whole tiny house lifestyle is very popular and #vanlife is no different. When you don't hide it people will come say hi and ask you questions. The world is more curious than hateful. Well......Welcome to my everyday van life adventures. My name is Chrome Valdez and i travel full-time with Cruz the bulldog. Stay weird everyone and thank you for being here.

The only time I’ve ever had someone question my van was at a campground, the lady scoffed at me and said “well you don’t have a shower or a toilet” and I was like “actually I do, I have both - it’s a fully converted conversion van that’s completely contained and ready for long term boondocking” she was like 😶

I saw a van lifer in my area. We RARELY see them... I accidentally scared them off but I wasn't trying too. I was trying to give them some things for their travels. I will try harder next time to NOT scare them away when I reach out to support them.

RE the early comment about smelling bad/being stinky: I drove long haul for several years, living in my big rig for weeks on end. I might have grabbed a shower at a truck stop once a week. Otherwise, through the dedicated use of "sea showers" (aka a "whore's bath"), I went to bed SQUEAKY CLEAN at the end of each and every day. All it takes is couple of wash cloths and a bowl of (hopefully warm) water. Anyone can do this if they know how, and the process is pretty easy if you follow the right priority pocess.
    Face.
    Head/ears/neck.
    Arms.
    Chest/torso.
    Change washcloth.
    Legs/underarms/feet.
    Maybe change washcloth.
    Nethers (groin/genitals)
Finish with gluteal crease (butt crack)
Wash cloth goes into laundry bag.
Unless you're a real slob, you'll never be able to tell which was cloth was used where if you launder them properly.
Trust me. Im a former truck driver who learned all this from a former submariner.
    It WORKS.
    Squeaky clean... Every day.
    Washing your hair?
You're on your own for that.
I recommend keeping it high & tight.
    Love the channel.
    Be safe.
    Be well.

👍 Same here. I worked for Roberts Express yet drove a van. A sink or even a bowl ("of warm to hot water") and I stayed clean. Sometimes, when waiting in line to unload, using wipes on all your "stinky parts", can make a huge difference.

Ever since my wife and I had our 2nd baby, I started paying more attention to this whole idea of sleeping (maybe temporary living) in a van, we have a minivan btw, cause our baby may sometimes needs a sleep if we out camping. I have been watching your videos for ideas for sometime now, never realized that you are also in Vancouver, BC area, that is the same area where my family lives at. I found your ideas of building a livable van is very inspiring, and the quality of both ideas and designs is top-notch. Although nowhere near the level of your building, but I took some inspiration from your idea, and just finished converting my minivan into a somewhat semi livable 5 seater, may be doing some more upgrades down the road. I am a 2nd gen immigrant, always amazed by the different styles that american people live, that really showed the creativity and bravery of man kind. Life sometimes can be hard, but amazing adaptability is where we as human all started, I see vanlife is one of the ways visiting back to our root. Keep strong and united, wish you all the best!

I know my day is coming... Right now I am in the home of an elderly relative, but when she's no longer here or in need of my help, I'll be living in my vehicle. Stay safe. I actually knew an elderly lady who lived in her van for years before she passed and had her baths and showers in the homes of her relatives and friends. Sometimes she stayed for longer than a day to help out.. she was sweet and demure. If she walked into your community meeting place you would never know she lived 99% of the time in her van

I bought a Jackery with the folding solar panels. They are designed and made remarkably well. I’m in Portugal and thankfully they do make units that are 220 volts. I was into the Van Life in the 60/70s. I felt like a king in the morning, when I made coffee on that old, green, two burner Colman stove. The new vans make my old V.W. look primitive, well, “Quest into the unknown” (Mister Natural, 1960s)

I guess I should probably tell you where this place is it's at the Elma RV Park in Elma Washington just outside of Olympia Washington.

Used to go surfing with friends and we'd fill up an empty gallon milk or water jug with water. Keep it in the hot car. When we were done surfing we'd pour a little on us and a small about of biodegradable soap. Lather up a bit and than pour the rest all over us. Fresh and clean! It works. Oh, and I'm kinda high maintenance, so of it works for me it'll work for y'all. 💜

What about going to a remote area city or woods, then putting a shower rod with proper coverage between your back doors and have a platform to stand on? Your doors will block views and a curtain with magnets to your door for wind issues. Keep it just below your eyesight so you can still see what's going on around you as you take a quick shower. I get it....cold water and cold weather sucks, but to get cleaned up fully will make you feel better about the situation. Boil up some water when you have a fire pit and use the shower system!!! Just my thoughts....

Hi Chrome, thank you for your inspiration and I really like your videos you make them short.
Maybe it’s time to get an outdoor shower in your van.
Get the one that sits on the roof rack put like a luggage carrier on the tow hinch so it can be your shower pan and just put a curtain behind the rear doors. So it will be part inside part outside shower that you’ll be able to stand in.
In addition as many suffer financially maybe someone should start a page were people can invite van dwellers to use the shower in their home for 5-15$.
Can help both. Keep on driving have fun.

Hey Chrome. I have a 2 gallon pump sprayer from Walmart and I modified the spray wand using connectors from home Depot and a kitchen spray wand from Walmart. All told, it cost me about $25, and I also have a pop up shower tent that is 74" tall by 48" square at the base. I got it on ebay for $22 and it folds down to about 24" diameter flat. It pops up and folds down really fast, and quick showers are a cinch. I find that I can shampoo and soap up, then rinse off with about 1 1/2 gallons.

Come on Chrome! I personally don't think there is a reason to not be showering on a regular basis. Water is not in shortage. A DIY shower curtain with a PVC frame or hula hoop, maybe a Walmart tote if you want and you're done. NO REASON! Heck, you've already got the pump and showerhead. Instead of giving reasons for not showering, maybe show others how you're doing it or how you're going to be doing it. Being a "stinky van dweller" is not a badge of honor. LOL! A lot of folks look at your channel as a how-to live the van life. This would be another great opportunity to lead. Peace!

Showering isn't the only way to clean..Not "showering" doesn't necessarily mean not "bathing". You don't have to run water over your head to clean up. You can cleanup and smell well with a bowl of water, soap, and a wash cloth.

Dawn, thank you! Soap and water! I bought a high roof van so I can stand up, even though I’m short, and I’ll be using soap and water.

@@jeffg3895 I've seen him go to truck stops on occasion, but we all know that they aren't very often due to the price of them. Now lakes and rivers, I've never seen him bathe in. Probably due to the water temp.

Hello chrome and safe travels to you my friend. I have an idea for your van life videos. have you thought about putting together a monologue from when you started to where you are now with the construction of your van. I love how much you have done and would absolutely be in amazement if you showed us how the transformation of your home has grown throughout the past couple years. Love you brotha 👊 stay safe...

Truck stops are normally pay per use in some form, which can get expensive. Gyms are unlimited use at a flat fee.

Great positive outlook. Cool channel. That Jackery product seems excellent. Thanks for updates on Jackery performance and build quality. Only thing I noticed was a little surface rust in 12v socket. Or maybe not, just from video it appeared to be. If so, maybe some dielectric grease can help. They sell in autopart stores, small dollar packs, for bulbs, wire connects, plug wires. Prevents metals from rusting and getting stuck together. Stay safe and positive. Cruz rules.🐕

I love you Chrome...you are always an inspiration...I've missed you.. last night I took a hose shower and shampoo. My friends 'forgot' to leave the house open as promised so I found a hidden spot and used the hose. The 90 degree day had slightly warmed the hose. Done!! Clean and revitalized!. Keep being weird 😉

SHOWER PROBLEM resolution..... When I boondock I stay super clean with this method. I have 3 thin plastic bottles ( 48 oz. Almond milk bottles, use what you’d like) I have drilled small holes in the lids, make up some warm water, fill the bottles, open my vans back doors, throw up a plastic shower curtain with magnets and scrub away. Works perfect! These particular bottles work for me because they’re light weight, with an easy to hold neck. Best way to stay clean, with no water wasted. Try it, works like a charm!

I agree with you Chrome, the rate of car/van dwellers are going to increase because of people losing their jobs. I think cities, states and provinces are going to be forced to make new laws that allow for auto dwellers to get the services they need like parking areas, hygiene facilities, etc. Of course, it's going to come at a cost to existing auto dwellers I think. More rules and regs, high prices for staying on land that was once free for boon docking. Probably to force people back into homes that they can't afford. Idk, just some thoughts running around my mind.
