    Tip for cookies..... if you can find a small oven save plate and a oven save trivit so cookies don't set on the bottom with direct heat they will stop.burning. Cast iron, trivit, then small plate. Cast iron becomes a simple oven. Then options are unlimited.

    Those are called “sticky backs” and we use them in the electrical trade. I assure you they won’t stay very long. They will separate from the plastic part. Another idea is to use the sealer you used on the fan to hold it down. Just my two cents

    • @dbeale247
      @dbeale247 4 года назад +4

      a dab of silicone on the side of the tabs will hold longer. But i agree the sticky backs by itself won't hold. As soon as the glues bakes in the sun it's a wrap :)

    • @garylgoldberg
      @garylgoldberg 4 года назад +4

      With the thin sticky back between the 3M tape and the plastic zip-tie mount, it will still fail -- better to remove the thin stuff and just use the 3M to adhere it.

    that flat pan is called a gridle, i have a pan from LODGE co. that works like a dutch oven, its 2 - n - 1 pans, that is how i make cookies over coals except i slice them and set in pan for 8 min. then remove from coals and wait for 12 min., thats as long as i can wait, i also undo the whole roll of dough and make one giant cookie and cut into pie shape slices, i was wondering when you would fasten your solar cables down to prevent wear and tear, nough rambling , thank you for taking me along

    I love your cookie baking process! I have a Cast iron skillet myself and love how it works. It's multi purpose in so many ways. You can try cutting the skillet heating time down to 5 minutes instead? Because it retains heat really well it may help bake the "bottoms" to be more brown? Wow! The freedom of van life definitely helps you become creative and resourceful. Many blessings to you and Cruz on your journey and travels.

    About the burned cookie bottoms. Get a grater or clean 80 grit sand paper and rub the cookie bottoms across it until the darkness goes away. That will remove the bitterness and burned taste. I learned this while working in a resort kitchen a couple of years ago.

I added a set of pans made for an electric toaster oven to my setup. Also added a pizza stone made for toaster ovens, too. Ideal for a fresh baked personal size pizza! When not in use the oven folds into a compact unit that's easy to store. Well worth the investment and the space for the versatility it will add to your kitchen.

    Like I've suggested , I believe a covered skillet with a tight fitting cover (one that is the cover for that pan) would work best to use as an "oven" . But I can only suggest. The griddle you used as a topper would let heat out because its not made to fit that pan. Just trying to help -

    watch those wires you zip-tied under the solar panels. The wind when driving will move them around and they may wear through rubbing on the metal support bars.

    Awesome cookies! Next time try flippling the cookies before adding the lid to your makeshift Dutch Oven and they might not burn . Thanks for another great video Chrome 😊👍🏽

    You could try putting the dough on a wire grid so it isn't in direct contact with the base. The heat would be the same all over instead of all at the bottom.

    The reason they're called "Interior" is they are not UV resistant. Same with zip ties. They will weaken and fail in short order, usually a year or so. You can buy UV rated zip ties, not sure about the wire ties.

    Coleman makes a camp oven that fits right over that propane burner. It folds down flat for storage. I just got one. Haven’t tried it yet but I’m going to try to make muffins soon! Your van is looking awesome!

    The flat is called a comal, it’s amazing! And yes you’re doing it right. If you have some time go check out cowboy Kent Rollins he does some amazing things with skillets. Even over a fire if you’re willing!

    Those sticky tie wrap brackets are awesome but they definitely aren’t permanent. We use them in aviation and they fall off after a few months
