I grew up on the border of Santa Fe springs and pico Rivera. The Rivera side of pico. I was in the CANTA ranas side of sfs. The rio Hondo river bed separates pico and sfs. I’m a lot younger then both of you. But I’ve been a graff fiend since I was six. In that river bed not only was there a skill two letter throw along with a breef straight letter, I remember being down there when I was about 8 collecting frog and bourse shoes and seeing a faded markski rage a half covered by canta ranas tags. It looked like maybe a faded red. I can still see that tag in my head today and I’m 38 years old . And still the graff fiend I was back then.
So much of what I did is still unknown. It's very cool to hear your account of seeing some of my hidden relics! Maybe yoy can snap some pics of the old stuff you find. Peace.
Thanks for your feedback. Right. I was only 12 yrs old when I left NY the first time at the end of '81. I had little scribbles around & was only starting to get around. I came to LA w/much knowledge & built up there in LA. In LA many know me & many don't. Or many know me for emceeing before pretty much anyone, but they may not have known much about my secretive writing. SKILL is an old school LA writing king. He knew me from the early days of LA writing. So do several other LA kings & crews IF I showed them my crafts or bombarded them w/something overwhelming. ✌🏽
Very much appreciated. In this interview I laid the foundation of my story. But I have much more of a story & more to contribute beyond this. Thank you.
I admire MarkSki's passion and ownership of his experience, making it very clear what his outlook and personal standards were on protecting his process and procedures when it came to his craft.
Unfortunately it's not there anymore. The address for the church was 6745 Suva St. I actually got to meet Markski while he was finishing up that mural in Bell Gardens.
Thanks for asking. Word, Suva St, Bell Gardens is correct. You can check youtube for my recent music releases (Markski GFS Forever, songs: Sanctified Worldview, Words of Wonder). Also, GFS Forever song Need to Believe. Also King ZG song Keep It Real. More in process. Peace.
Yo, thank you. Oddly, I worked hard to be obscure, hidden from most & in my own world. Those who entered my world saw some rare, deep things. I led the way in a lot of aspects. I had no need or reason to ever follow others. Now I'm opening up, since I'm older. But I'm still very similar. & still have a fire burning in me to represent. How do you know me?
It's true, I rocked 69rs in the 70s, and today, I still rock them along with my BVD, pumas, adidas. Sheep skin coat, bubble goose, etc etc
You know it. NY to the West Coast. Hip Hop/ Bboyism/ & Writing all live on! Peace.
freeze rockin markski is a national treasure
Yo... too cool. Thank you man. Blessings!
Awesome interview, thank you guys! 💪🏼👊🏼😎🎨
