    Here is a short video on "How to Install" the famous Pop Out Windows for your Vintage VW Beetle. They are a great accessory and add great air flow through the cabin. I feel they are especially necessary for Ragtop Sunroof VWs. They also boost the value of your resto.

    Your videos have been a big help during the process of my build. Now that I'm about to finish it up I was looking at purchasing some pop outs from J bugs and wasn't sure of The quality and fitment. Once again your video has answered a ton of questions for me and I am very thankful.

    one trick i use if someone is afraid of a drill bit going too far and poking the outer body panel, you can slip a piece of fuel line or vacuum line over the bit leaving however much of the bit exposed that you need. and when you get through the hole the rubber acts as a cushion and wont mess up the paint on the side you are drilling from either.

    Chris have you ever had any trouble with the aftermarket pop outs? I bought the top of the line and they do not fit my 68 bug. It’s like they are to small and I can see day light with window locked and closed. I tried to unbolt from factory drilled holes and center it up but nothing will get these windows to close up tight.

      Chris Vallone no they are right year. I tried centering it in the opening but the chrome trim hits the pinch welt before the seal can make contact. I’m in contact with the place I got them from and they had me take measurements in the window and send it to them. Waiting on answer from them.

    someone told me not to use WD40 with rubber sealings, only silicone. WD40 will make the rubber hard and unflexible after some time!
    good job though ;)

    • @classicvwbugs
      @classicvwbugs  8 лет назад +1

      eh, not sure about that one. WD-40 is a remarkable spray, anyone out there with their thoughts?

    • @caliarmyguy
      @caliarmyguy 8 лет назад +2

      Spraying WD-40 on rubber won't hurt it. What you don't want to do is soak rubber in it as that will cause the rubber to swell. Something quick like window seals aren't going to hurt a thing. Plus the "WD" stands for "water displacement" so you won't have to worry about moisture getting trapped in there somewhere.

    • @classicvwbugs
      @classicvwbugs  8 лет назад +1

      That is what I thought too. Only problem I ever had with WD, is when I used it on my window felt channels. It gummed them up.

    If you did a headliner installation using contact cement and wrapped and glued material onto the window opening edges DO NOT USE SILICONE TO LUBRICATE THE OPENINGS for window installation. I did following this video and the silicone released the glue. A really bad occurrence.

    • @classicvwbugs
      @classicvwbugs  4 года назад

      Just do not saturate it, you don't dab it on the headliner material, you just use a bit on the seal or on the body away from the material. We do it all the time, you need the window seals to seat in. These aftermarket seals can be tough sometimes.
