If you owned one you would know… panel gaps do two annoying things in my experience-water gets in areas it shouldn’t, pools and then eventually smells. And two, over time those are areas of rattling while driving. It’s something you never even think about b/c other manufacturers addressed it 30+ yrs ago
That thing is a technological marvel underneath all that dystopian visual. Waiting on the email to finalize my config/order.....will be nuts to see these regularly on the road!
@@MonsterGadgets No, its gone from River North and is now in Naperville. While in Chicago, you could pretty much do anything but open the doors as they were locked. No restrictions on video or photos or even touching it. It does show fingerprints however if you touch the stainless alloy. I even felt the rims and they are tough too.Even learned they have a new Cyber Quad that is now legit and legal to sell. They guy said it was a LOT slower than the old one though and the new one has lots of warning labels on it.
I was ready to say, that norman Cybertruck manufacturing issue (like the waweness), but that was clearly a dent. There is also ablemish due in driver side back door most likedy due incorrect cleaning liquid used. Stainless steel is unforgiving. Also: those bue/green corrosion 'freckles' emerge after couple of weeks in the wild. Those sre not visible in the showroom, yet.
I have the feeling this is the same unit that was in Chicago (River North) and was moved out to the burbs. While in Chicago, they did allow video and anything else. They even allowed you to touch it, just not open the doors.
@@MonsterGadgets Then you should have gone to Chicago because the Tesla store in River North was less anal about it given the fact that people were crawling all over the Rivians just 100 feet away at their showroom a few doors down from Tesla. Rivian was killing it the day we were there with Test Drives etc. and Tesla was pretty quiet except for the CT being in showroom.
Thank you so much for the video! It looks like absolutely nothing anyone has ever seen outside of a video game or sci fi movie. Can't wait to see it in person and I am looking forward to your test drive review!!
seeing it in person versus vid or photos is a totally different experience. Its mammoth and actually better built than I expected. The ONLY thing I didnt like was the look of the long wiper
thanks for uploading. for you next video, could you please normalize the volume across the whole video - the video is much quieter than other YT videos? thanks.
Wavy body panels will be the norm because of the material - unlike a steel or aluminum panel the CT cannot be nice curves or more complex shapes. It has to be pretty straight and flat.. btw for those of you crowing about how 'tough' the panels are, that may prove to be a big problem in terms of safety for pedestrians, cyclists, and other vehicles. Insurance companies may frown on the concept, and you need insurance. Do you really want a vehicle that acts like a huge battering ram, to be menacing smaller cars? Where's the 'let's help the world' mentality in that?
Elon's Free Speech in action. 😂 It is actually not dented. Those panels warp because of the temperature difference. You cannot avoid it because of how they designed the body panel attachment. Under the sun it is even worse (watch Hagerty, Marques Broewnlee, carwow reviews in full resolution). So production quality right there.
When I first saw one online, I thought it was the ugliest vehicle I’ve ever seen. Seeing it now, I think it’s the coolest thing I’ve ever seen. I saw your other video, 5 people is a deal breaker. There’s an online company who can completely modify the back and turn it into a bedroom. Saw the video on Twitter I think.
The waves are understandable as I mentioned on the passenger side. However the dent is on the driver side and the employee confirmed that it was odd and they didn’t know why it existed.
Yeah likely just from manufacturing. the process isn't 100% perfect and it personally doesn't bother me. My question is though say you do manage to get a big dent that bothers you can it be removed or does the whole peice need to be replaced.
I wonder if the "dent" or bend in the metal would be less obvious if having it matte wrapped? Also, do you know any other Tesla locations in Chicago besides downtown that have the CT? Thanks
Everyone always talk about panel gaps. I really don't get the obsession 🤷🏾
Tesla has a history of this across all their cars. It’s gotten better over time but there is still need for improvement.

@@MonsterGadgetsbut it still ultimately means next to nothing. The model Y is the best selling vehicle in the world.
@@CloutDigitalI owned one for 7 years and over 100k miles now. Don’t think about it in the least.
just haters trying to drum up something.

Agreed!
If you go to the river north location they are much more relaxed about seeing the truck!
I was told this one came from that location just a couple of days ago. Do they have another one?

@@MonsterGadgets dang really😭. Maybe true, I havent been there since last week.
I wish I knew of it being in Chicago while it was there lol

Most vehicles have waves in the metal like you see there. Most vehicles are not such a huge flat surface though so it's not as noticeable.
Agreed

I just pick up my Cybertruck, it has the dent in the same spot. Maybe it’s from the machine to make it.
Congrats! And yeah you’re right, maybe. I wonder why tho. Seems like it should be a easy fix.

@@MonsterGadgets thanks
It's got DENTS AND WAVES.
Yup, unfortunately
Trim looks janky, see 2 dents. Good luck doing that metal with PDR. Was it factory dented?
Not sure how it got dented but it’s directly from the factory.
That's cool, the Tesla service center was an old Hummer dealership.
Yup lol
Will the buyer get a 2-dent-discount? 2 were very clear. Not wavy, DENTS.
lol

I saw the dented cyber truck
This same one or another one?

It is dented. I even spoke the Tesla employees and they confirmed it.
I’ve seen plenty of RUclipsrs videos from their local sales centers. I am sorry that Chicago’s sucked!
Same and I was shocked to see how strict they were. Even with their own employees not being able to sit in it or touch it.

Man I thought you had got one 😅
Nah. I don’t think I’ll get one yet
There is no dent. That is just a wave in the metal from bending. No CT will be perfect. There will be waves. It’s just the material
The waves are understandable as I mentioned on the passenger side. However the dent is on the driver side and the employee confirmed that it was odd and they didn’t know why it existed.

I think it might be less but it still would be viable. I don’t know of any other locations that have the CT.
Imagine the results of whatever caused dent on cybertruck on regular car/truck. Destroyed.
True
Stainless steel sheet always looks like that over larger areas, not sure why anyone thinks it matters or cares about it.
With waves, understood to an extent but dented, no. I think most people would care.
tow hitch?
Yes. That’s standard. You have to remove the cover to access it.
Audio levels are really low in the video
Sorry about that. Thanks for the feedback and will be fixed in future videos
Lol , that thing looks like crap. Wavy body panels are not acceptable period.
From certain angles, it does look pretty bad. I’m really curious to see if others are any better or not.
