Cool, I can't wait to try out the Tesla FSD. Tesla FSD is a miracle technology people who have high functioning levels of Autism are vulnerable to driving anxiety & driving fatigue, & during rush hour traffic or long-distance driving that would help Autistic people to do their daily driving tasks.
I would call that one spot an intervention. It was sooo long waiting that any person under normal circumstances, who was on a schedule to be someplace, would have intervened to get the trip back on track. By waiting five minutes without intervening, that was really like an intervention.
There is no definition of intervention when talking about FSD. I argue that as long as the car is being safe, it should not be considered an intervention.
@@ericgregori The car was not being safe. If the car stops for five minutes on the road to ponder a decision, it is not really being safe. In this particular instance, due to a weird road design, the car was not creating a major hazard, but it was stopped on the road, not a parking area.
Thanks for not intervening around 24:00. The long delay before FSD finally decided to move was even more impressive than a quicker response would have been. It's almost like a remote operator intervened.
There is a ‘minor’ issue around 11:37 where the car took a right at the stop sign but instead of turning into the right lane where it eventually needed to go only a few seconds later, it turned into the far left lane then made a lane change to the right immediately. Good to see it corrected quickly enough, but that’s definitely something that could lead to unnecessary situations if another driver doesn’t expect you to make that action.
Most people in the USA don't drive anything this challenging. Whole Mars just did a drive from LAX and that was extremely busy airport traffic. It looks like it's jumped another level. Still a way to go but progress this past year has been impressive. Needs to improve parking, freeway, reverse, emergency vehicles, road signs (closed streets, school signs etc) and lane staging (getting into the proper lane early enough).
This video is like a guided tour of an amazing city. Self driving videos are an archive of the real world . Fascinating watching from the uk. Thank you
Went for a ride yesterday and my friends new Tesla we put it on full service driving it’s hard to believe it can do so well it changed lanes. It stopped at lights. Unbelievable not a hitch. I’m going after mine.
20:40 I hope this will be reported so FSD team can fix this edge case. FSD obviously was able to correct itself but it took a long while. It just needs to be trained to correct itself quicker in these situations. It seems that FSD was trying to stage a right turn by moving closer to the curb. However, the curb on this section of the road is weirdly curbed so there is a solid white line to mark the edge of the roadway where the shoulder begins. Although it is discouraged to cross or make lane changes in areas with solid white lines, FSD disregards these solid white line road markings. FSD incorrectly enters and gets trapped in the shoulder. FSD should have waited until it "saw" the broken white line to change to the right-most lane.
This was so incredible to watch, really reinforced my confidence in TSLA and makes me so much more excited for the future. Please upload more videos on this software, would love to see more testing.
Excellent video, as always! Thank you! It certainly was an amazing drive, though not perfect by any means. (It may not seem significant, but that red light troubled me). Do you have nearby access to a 2-lane road? I would like to see how FSD 12.5.1.5 handles speed control at 55mph (or even 50, 60, or 65; just not a limited access expressway, which is still the other stack). I have FSD 12.5.1.3 on my 2024 Model 3, and it always drives slower than the speed limit (51mph in a posted 55mph). Doesn’t matter if auto set speed control is enabled or not. I can increase my speed by pressing the accelerator, but in less than a minute it begins gradually dropping back down. Anyway, I’m curious to know how 12.5.1.5 handles speed control.
@@blissweb I asked if GPS was necessary to navigate with version 12.5.1.5. It is not necessary. The car does it with visual cameras only, like a human. It learns like a human.

Great stuff!!! I would give it an 8 on that drive. 1 point off for that red light and 1 off for that weird stop on that right shoulder. These are basic things that it should have nailed by now. Overall, it did excellent especially underneath the highway system without cellular.
As a truck driver, I never want to go down here, or anywhere within 55 miles of Chicago. It stresses me out. In a car, stressed out still . Tesla can handle “the mantle” of this stress, makes me want to go ahead and borrow 1m to get the stock RN. Only thing making me hesitate is the frothyness of the stock market, threat of communism not just on the horizon, but right at the fricking door. Makes me worried. But your vid helps tremendously. TY !!!
Best FSD video made by anyone to this day. I give FSD a score 9.5. The red light issue I excuse because there was another traffic light just right ahead and this silly light appeared to be more of a pedestrian crossing light. Tesla stopped, looked, and proceeded safely. Normally you would have a stop sign there . This drive was a gauntlet for FSD and a high pressure test and it passed with atv least an A Grade. Robotaxi? Very close. Very fixable in my mind. As far as safety, I don't think I could have driven safer! Good job !
This is really impressive. Handling a lot of difficult scenarios and lots of other cars/pedestrians breaking rules of the road, no problem for the FSD.
That red light one is odd. It looks like the car pulls up to the line for the red light (poorly designed intersection) and then once the car gets to the line it is too close and can no longer see the lights at all. It's an odd case where you pull up to the line for a red light, but the line is "in" the intersection and as you are red and already past the light, the car continues to go.
He should have edited the trip to confirm this. If he ended trip and it immedatly started moving, then it thought it was at the destination, if he deleted that stop and made it go somewhere else, and it still didnt move, we'd know it was stuck. Iv seen this twice on 12.3.6 and it wasn't anywhere close to the pin so I think it just got stuck.
Great to see the progress in the area i know so well from you. I am happy that you finally received this version. Greetings from Germany from all the desperatly waiting Tesla Drivers!
I would break the traffic law 100 times in this drive it was so difficullt I can guarantee any new driver from another location would not be so perfect than FSD 🤣😂
That looks like a nightmare of a place to drive. FSD is giving me no intervention drives about 95% of the time on 12.5.1.3 but Chicago looks like the final boss compared to where I drive.
FSD did not make the mandatory NHSTA complete stop (0 mph) before the stop limit line. This should be easy to fix if reported to FSD team. 11:10 Lead car stops (although it appears it didn't stop before the stop limit line). 11:11 FSD stops behind the lead car. It is recommended by traffic experts that if another vehicle is already stopped at the stop sign in front of you, you must first stop behind it, then again come to a complete stop at the stop sign once that vehicle moves on. 11:12 Lead car moves on and turns right. FSD moves forward towards limit line but does not stop. 11:19 FSD continue creeping past the stop limit line and thru the crosswalk. 11:20 FSD makes a right turn (1 mph) without coming to a complete stop.
Tesla is legally obligated to display 1mph even if the car stands still until it has been standing still for a longer time period. But you are not legally obligated to stand still until the speed displays 0…
@@heltok Oh I see. Here's another scenario where FSD did not make the NHSTA stop: ruclips.net/user/clipUgkx4IORWjz7pmVBf8Vxm6w6djGgC29khUtt?si=VexxKRH2QbWLjJBb
That's crazy that at that time when this model 3 was released in 2019. In that time AI hasn't been that popular and Tesla gave this car a powerful computer that even in 2024 this car can drive itself better than any other automous system.
That was an excellent test. We have come a long way and in HW3 no less. However, it was only technically a 0 disengagement drive. You should have taken over in the right lane and especially at the red light.

Appreciate your video, phenomenal editing skills and you really care and know how to tell the story. Though it’s a bit long but the quality of this work is amazing.
Very convincing. I do not understand why you are so concerned about the drivers behind you. As long as you follow speed limit and the general traffic rules "those behind - mind your own business". Europe citizen, but have driven more than 20k miles in us.
@@larslund54 I’ve been rear-ended before due to a distracted driver. I don’t ever want this to happen with my Tesla. It will be making money for me while I sleep in the future. I need it to survive.
It’s called defensive driving; something I learned about during driver training 60 years ago. I still remember it, “Always leave yourself an out.” In other words, be prepared for whatever might happen. Something that really urks me is when a driver is on my tail on a 2-lane road. I will speed up a bit if I can to give them more room, but when they don’t take the hint I pull over and let them pass. If I needed to stop suddenly for whatever reason, such as a deer in the road, I don’t want someone hitting me from behind. Defensive driving.

Good job !
Agreed, I live in a Chicago suburb, and now I can have FSD do the driving. 😊
@@overnightclassic2 excellent observation.
Your patient and insightful commentary is much appreciated. 😊
You called it “sub lower wacker” but I prefer Lower Lower Wacker 😂
Basement Wacker.
@ 20:50 I'm pretty sure the fsd did that telling you you are close enough to the destination ping and decided to end that trip there.
Yeah, I already feel stressed only watching this drive. 😅 Amazing achievement.
Great test! Can’t wait till my test runs in Chicago and west suburbs coming to my HW3 Y
As a two-year plus FSD tester, it's great to see that a fellow tester and youtube poster is actually giddy about FSD progress.
Amazing! Time to buy FSD now.
Fun video! nice editing.
Here's another scenario where FSD did not make the NHSTA stop:

Thank you for making this review. I drive same model3 in Korea and we are all looking forward to FSD as soon as we can. It looks so great!
😂😂 now that you brought it up , I can kind of get the Mr Rogers vibe 😁👍🏻 nothing wrong with that. Like you said " you speak very clearly " and in a calm demeanor
Very cool review of the latest FSD beta. Neat to see it in action, thanks! Production suggestion: Watch the lip smacking between phrases - its really loud with headphones.
Thank you for putting FSD through some tough situations! This will be life changing when it hits level 5 driverless 😊
Anxiously awaiting this version… so I can call it 'wife ready'😅
Your genuine excitement is palpable
Great video! What patience! Glad you let it sit there. I've seen that issue a few months ago.
Thanks Jon. I watch your videos to see if I want to update my FSD to your version. I want the nag-less driving, so will update.
can't believe that you waited so long, very good
Wow! and this with HW3 😲😲😲
nobody notice that the lady driver on 18:10 who stopped at the wrong place and then reverse back in to give way, forcing the car behind to reverse too 😂
Well done, great video, I'm looking forward to use that FSD capability in Switzerland soon.
This technology is mind-boggling. If I'm being picky, the thing where it sat in the layby for ages felt like you intervened
@@mikeforwarduk where did you see me intervene. Curious to hear what you saw! I didn’t do anything there. 😉
_the thing where it sat in the layby for ages felt like you intervened_
Felt like? He either did or didn't, and from the video it's pretty clear he didn't.
Enjoyed the drive and your commentary, especially on how human driver woll always tend to note any difference between FSD and how they would drive, even when it was perfectly fine. I am SO ready for this update!
American drivers are pretty uncomfortably aggressive. I can definitely relate to being very concerned about vehicles behind.
Thanks!
@@tobyjessup6483 How can I give you half of this back?! You are too kind! ❤️ I will be using this for a coffee this morning and a beer at night. So much appreciated! 🙏
Finally have hw3 fsd 12.5! I’m stoked! Hoping to get it soon, usually it’s a 10 to 14 day wait after first rollout before I see it. Thanks for the difficult city drive as an example of what fsd 12.5 is capable of.
