I always forget just how varied wildlife in America is. From tundra in Alaska, wetlands in Florida and coastal beaches in California it seems like just about everything is here.
Thanks Ott. Yeah, those coastal habitats are so amazing, I wish I lived a tad closer to them. I hope you have a wonderful year to come as well full of many wildlife encounters!
Another great video Jimmy, some excellent footage and images of the coastal critters. That area is very much like the coastal area where I live on Vancouver Island. What you can see can change everyday and I never get tired of heading to the the coastal areas. Glad to have you back, missed you last week. Have a good week!!
Thanks so much Keith! One of these days I need to make it up your way, it sounds like an amazing place for photography! Thanks for the kind words, I had a wonderful time with family and I'm glad to be back and really excited for some upcoming adventures! Hope all is well with you, can't wait to see what encounters you have in the coming weeks and months!
That's so true. I've visited the same area just a day or two apart and they can look so drastically different with all new wildlife that I hadn't seen on the previous visit. It's just incredible!
Great video! I can't wait to get back to that area. Were the Elephant Seals at Point Reyes? Where was that congregation of Brown Pelicans on the rocks? Did you happen to see groups of Surf Scoters out there?
Thank you! I traveled all up and down the coast and stopped by multiple spots. The Pelicans were on some rocks, but in their own area away from everything else. I did see some Surf Scoters in a pretty inaccessible spot and they seemed a tad skittish. It's a shame because I'd love to photograph them!
@@JimmyBreitenstein yes, Surf Scoters are quite skittish. I have seen them multiple times (from a great distance thru binoculars) running up on the beach to forage on whatever the latest wave brought in. Always wanted to get good photos of that, but it would require setting up a blind and waiting for hours and hours for something that might not happen.
@@TomReichner Yeah, that's pretty much been my limited experience as well. From past experience, when setup in the best spot, shooting from a blind can be the best way to go about things. Good luck getting them!
The photo of the Elephant Seal and the Coyote is cool, contrasting the size of the animals! I think we will be exploring the Atlantic Sea Coast this spring instead of going west this year. Looks like a truly wonderful day! Now to figure out what else to do on this freezing afternoon!
Thanks Julie! It was a pretty neat encounter, those Seals really are so big and the male actually ended up chasing the Coyote away, it was pretty cool to see. The angle was bad and I couldn't reposition fast enough to get footage of it, but still just neat to see. I hope you have fun out exploring, can't wait to see what you're able to get this year!

It is a very biologically diverse continent, it's incredible how many species and ecosystems there are out here, I love it!
Great video! So much wildlife is the coastal areas. Looking forward to the 2024 adventures that you can share!

Wonderful video, Jimmy. The California coast is truly rich in wildlife. All you have to do is look.
Thanks a bunch, Randy! So true, every time I visit I'm just astounded at the sheer amounts of wildlife I'm able to find and photograph.

How neat! Coast to coast looks like a blast! I’m looking forward to what you share with us this year. Thank you for sharing 😊
Definitely a fun series of trips and so cool to see the difference in wildlife between the opposite coasts.
One thing about the ocean shore line it can change from day to day, just when you think you see it all the wind changes and so does the ocean.

I think you caught a whale breaching at about 3:57 off in the distance!
I sure did, and I didn't even notice it until I was editing the video later. There truly is wildlife everywhere out there!

Was on the coast of cali in the fall. Saw the pelicans, elephant seals, and some egrets.
Truly an incredible area!
@@JimmyBreitenstein I am heading out to Vancouver Island BC in February. Hoping to capture some great photos while not busy at work 😀
Keeping it a secret as usual.
Yep, that hasn't changed, nor will it. Thanks for watching, have a great week 😊
