    Im at the age of 35 and im realizing my anxiety is way more than others. I thought everybody felt the same. I get prescribed medical marijuana for it. (Ive been smokin it since i was a teen. Weeks later me and the wife took the motorcycle out... it was a beautiful day...and all of a sudden while going 50 a car pulls out and we t-bone it and go flying. We are both healed a year later. God is good. We didnt get taken from our 2 boys. Not riding anymore. Between the accident... starting a family, taking over a business i busted my ass for 15years (roof cleaning) man i feel like ive made all these sacrifices to turn my life around from a highschool drop out and i should be super proud. Beautiful wife been with her since 2008! Idk why im not livin my life. All i do is work and work to the point im not in the mind state to get loose and relax like i used to be able too. Lately ive been reacting instead of responding.. probobly irritable from ptsd and the anxiety. Idk man. Atleast im still dedicated in the gym. Keeps me sane. Glad alot of the things you explain i can relate too. Helps to know your not alone.

    "Done, not perfect" is a quote I heard a few years ago that greatly helped me see projects through. You can go back and revise, improve...but get it out and let it soak. Move on to the next task. Procrastination is the enemy of productivity. Being non-productive is a major cause of anxiety (for me at least). Get it done and sleep well. Another day closer to the goal. Clarify the vision, plan with precision. Execute.

    Holy fuck dude I needed this
    Edit: (6hrs later) this video helped me so immensely, I finally did it, I sat down with no music, no video, no nothing but me myself and I, and analyzed myself, my goals, what I truly want to do in life… I’ve been stuck for months, actually the past 3-4 years just trying to get myself out this rabbit hole of misery that I got myself into, and finally realized there is no better time than writing my goals down now, breaking them down, and take action from there. And this isn’t my first time doing so in the last 3-4 years, but this is my first time in months that I finally did something I postponed for months. Not doing so had me spiraling down in the worst decisions with very severe consequences, but reversible consequences. Only thing irreversible is my time wasted and Theo hit the nail on that second half talking about “this is the best time you got, dont waste it.” Man. I love you dude, for your comedy, entertainment, and now eye opening inspiration. God bless you dude 🙏

    Sometimes it's tough to know where the line is between good planning, and "over-planning." Delaying getting started (even if starting means pivoting from one thing to another, until that other thing is ready) is never the answer, but sometimes I'm not sure if my hesitance to "release" a plan / an action, or do a certain thing, is truly premature and the timing isn't right yet, or if I'm falling victim to my own self deceit or my own hesitance to just do it, or just start (due to overthinking or over-planning).

      Ironically I often feel like people have a tendency to personally blame themselves and that shuts off looking at any other reason they are a certain way. They’ll say I’m fat because I’m lazy and bad or whatever and the million other reasons for weight gain like exposure to environmental poisons like mold and heavy metals that can mess you up hormonally isn’t checked it encourages an over simplification of cause. If the cause always was that people just suck and could be better morally it would really simplify things actually but often there’s more inputs and variables and I’m not just saying that to deflect blame I just feel like people get so self focused they can’t ever consider any other cause so other possibilities remain hidden. I think people want to feel like they’re self aware and doing something so just saying they suck and they need to change makes you feel like your changing already because you’re addressing it and it gets points also as it makes you seem mature. For example people for instance may have a genetic condition like mthfr they didn’t know about or have mold exposure or whatever and this caused symptoms like weight issues cravings mood issues. Most will blame themselves right away for being lazy or gluttonous or just moody and if you try to say it isn’t that others jump on you like you are trying to deflect blame rather than actually check into other causes. It’s like people get a bloodlust or a superiority thing from that or they’re projecting their own stuff or something I don’t know.
      Also I feel like there are more causes to laziness or procrastination than just you are lazy because you’re choosing to be, I mean I guess you could say it is a choice as if you knew the other factors you could change it but that’s not exactly the same as just I’m lazy and I suck or I’m to blame or whatever.
      Like some feel tremendous guilt it’s why they feel bad about being lazy is it’s infringing on their idea of being moral acceptable or good enough, but for some it feels like they get stuck trying to prove they are good enough by not being lazy or by showing to others and so to themsevles that they are good enough. There are those who achieve a great deal and never shake this feeling they feel like imposters, and those who feeling like they haven’t done well enough in life is part of what is driving them to not do well enough the emotions got so heavy they quite trying because even if they try they know they still won’t live up to that expedition or standard. Nothing is ever good enough for that standard.
      You can have a medical condition that causes ocd that then makes it harder to function, or just feel overwhelmed due other conditions or what have you and for some the freedom to not feel as if doing has their worth staked on it may help. Sometimes pressure achieves the opposite goal or at least makes things needlessly difficult. I’d say just do whatever it is wihtout feeling like you are a loser if you don’t do it or succeed, try to do it out of a desire to act like who you want to be rather than out of a desperate fear of who you feel you need to prove you aren’t. This is me just thinking out loud mostly as I’ve seen this concept come up a lot and people have this approach mostly like you’re saying and I don’t know maybe it is true sometimes they’re just not good somehow but sometimes asking why am I not doing well here just to at least check beyond moral failing then to maybe use more James clear concepts or build a better life rather than use maybe sometimes just short lived motivation to change as it sustainability is critical.
      I feel like the heart of this point is this: some see the symptoms in their life as the cause. They are acting a certain way and that behavior is assumed to be due to ethereal bad character or no desire to change or something like that. Now that could very well be correct as a cause and it’s great to know and work on it whatever it is. But the other possibility is that your current level of awareness of yourself and of how to change is the larger limiting factor, that there could be emotions and habits internally you don’t know you have as well as even medical conditions and other things that if you’re aware of you can then target that and build a system around addressing that and overcoming it as much as possible or even trying to turn it to a strength. I feel like a core idea here is shame. Awareness is good pretty much always about yourself, healthy shame could be good of real wrongdoing and should be corrective and really msotly short lived, but many I feel like their shame is chronic and it both causes some of their issues and then makes them ashamed more of them. You then get stuck in a feeling bad trying to prove you aren’t bad then feeling bad again cycle. It’s like the actual emotion and thinking pattern driving the behavior wasn’t changed we just chastised ourselves and didn’t address any other life engineering factors that set us up for failure or success, we didn’t try to actually fix anything beyond a vague idea of being this or that. Now that’s probably not always the case same may lack discipline they work at it they get more disciplined and boom it worked. It may not be some other factor effecting it besides just not having the thing itself. But some seem to work and just do all this stuff and either revert back or keep feeling bad no matter what they do it’s like tinier motives are negative and they aren’t fixing the right things that are the actual cause because they’re so focused on proving they don’t suck in some way. It’s like a guy who’s got health issues but is so focused on proving he isn’t lazy he stays obsessed with working out only and doesn’t address any other cause of health issues because as long as he’s working out he doesn’t feel lazy gut if he stops he feels like maybe he’s slipping maybe he’s making excuses maybe he’s looking at other causes of these health issues beyond fitness because he just can’t do it. It’s like a chronic self doubt and lack of trust driving a need to prove something but rather than proving it and moving on it’s like it reinforces that way of thinking and the need to prove is greater or the need to act in a way that temporarily alters a feeling of inadequacy in some area morally or performance wise.

      That’s way too long a text but it’s I don’t know an in depth topic. A lot of people don’t like to go over that really it’s like in some areas one answer is accepted and if you try to talk about it people assume you are trying to deflect blame or make excuses or support the overboard accept all your flaws and never change ideology. I think it’s more like saying acceptance gives you the peace to try out of a desire to grow rather than a fear of not being worthy of your own acceptance. You shouldn’t assume you didn’t do something only because you are morally bankrupt as there’s not actual evidence that’s the only cause, and really to me thinking of yourself as the thing you don’t want to be doesn’t help in not being it. If you are actually lazy then don’t think that, think you are the any you wish to be reinforce that neural circuitry. And you can say well isn’t that lying if you aren’t something why would you say you are but very likely speaking to yourself as if you are how you are that’s part of how you got to where you are. Think a way overtime that becomes natural and it effects how you feel and that effects how you act. And often when you just say you are something even when you accomplish stuff mentally you don’t always change, it’s why a celebrity can have so much but feel like so little. They’re still who they were trying to prove they aren’t that rather than saying they are what they wish to be now trying to train themselves into that new person. But you said you were those things so maybe that helps distance mentally rather than reinforce it as a current reality.

    Was just having these thoughts today. I am dealing with liver failure and a friend of mine her uncle died today. The most positive, fun, goofy, live in the moment kinda guy.
    I ultimately don’t know what’s going to happen but the possibility that my life could be a lot shorter than I think really has been messing with me.
    We are here only for a short time but we love our daily lives like it’s forever.
    It’s one thing to go out in a blaze of glory and freedom and generosity when you know your days are numbered.
    It’s another thing to live each day as it’s your last even though you know it isn’t. That is courage. That is joy. That is impressive. I am in admiration of people like that.

    This way of thinking comes from a place of fear. It's waiting for things to come to you and be safe to mitigate risk and uncomfortable feelings. Starting a project or having initiative comes from a place of bravery and faith. That says "I don't know everything and I may suffer losses and setbacks and that's fine because the reward will outweigh any risk or loss that may come my way. I'll find and learn the way to win and get what I want". Fear is the recipe for failure

      I'm almost 47. I said the same things when i was 16, and im still saying it. I can tell you that the next 31 years won't be any different unless you act. You'll become comfortable saying and feeling what you're already saying and feeling. You can either become comfortable with non-action, or comfortable with action.
      I cannot explain to you how fast life it going to begin speeding past you. But I promise, with zero chance of me being incorrect, it's going to go by way faster than you think it is.

Once I was in perfect shape, perfect teeth, skin, had a nice car, house, money etc. Now I'm 35 and I've never had a girlfriend. I've never tried once, not even once. I wish I had someone like theo tell me how bad that "plan" was.

  • @Bondhio
    @Bondhio Год назад +4

    I do this with women. I'm 22 and I've been single my whole life. I'm always waiting for my acne to clear, or my muscles to develop, or the perfect job, and telling myself when I've achieved these things then I'll be ready to start dating. But every time I achieve these goals I just put up another hurdle to replace the last one, because in all reality I'm just really shy and I don't want to break out of my shell. So as long as I have an excuse as to "why women wont like me" I can avoid actively speaking to them and trying to put myself out there. Wise words Theo!

    • @ahsoka6807
      @ahsoka6807 Год назад +1

      I'm 22 as well dude. I know what you mean. For me it's getting an apartment since I live with my parents still and just waiting for all these conditions and things to be right. And then once they're right I can finally allow myself to be the person that I want to be. Once these conditions happen. THEN ILL BE GOOD ENOUGH. But we gotta start now dude, I'm starting to see that now. We gotta believe we're enough as we are now. We already are good enough. Sure it's nice to have those things and certainly not bad to want them. But we're good enough now , we are enough now to start living life.
