Why do you write that on the wall? You could write a list instead of what you are proud of refering your abilities or stuff like that. That has more impact than writing something on the wall what you likely don't believe.

I really enjoyed your video. I just wanted to share my little story to add to your point by sharing a real example I'll add this. What keeps us going? The fear of losing it all. There's definite a little amount of imposter syndrome. I think it keeps me on my toes and motivated to keep learning and improving where I can and I'm really successful

Hey bro. Just some practical advice from someone who's been there. Wake up in the morning and think about what you are grateful for. After that take ten minutes to ask God, the universe, nature whatever you want to call it, what it's plan for you is. You already know on the inside how to get through this you just have to take mindful actions to get past this. Good luck man you got this!

A true friend. Been through thick and thin and he didn't walk away. While every one else did. I'm betting my soul he's real. So i don't care now what i lose or don't have in this world. @@thinkbeforeyoureact2988 loneliness and alone arent the same. Alone is a state of being whereas lonely is a state of mind. The idea that "loneliness is the poverty of self" signifies, to me at least, that being alone doesnt cause loneliness; having low self worth causes loneliness. A lot of people who forcibly spend every waking minute around other people do so because they themselves are poor company so they cant bear being alone.

Theo is my favorite podcaster. He really opens up and lets it rip. That is so helpful for others, especially now, when so many of us are wrestling with emotional baggage and trauma. He's not ashamed to shed tears.

And feeling shame about being proud of yourself is actually quite common. Good on Theo for being so open about this. Especially as a man. That's brave (but a shame it needs to be called brave for men to act like humans with emotions.)
I'm 26 and I've just discovered and accepted last Christmas that "all you need is love" is the most truthful truth there is on this planet.
This is a very powerful video. I am a 58 year old woman who has gone through deep inner child therapy healing from childhood trauma. One of the things that I had mentioned early on in my therapy, is that I felt this feeling of betraying or leaving, deserting a part of myself (younger me) through healing. When I watched this video, I was like "Yes! I totally get what Theo is feeling". It makes complete sense. I called it the tug-a-war stage of healing. It takes work in the connection and I no longer have that feeling. Thank you very much for sharing this video!!
Yes !! I am embracing all my parts. I love EMDR to heal my triggers and embrace my strong parts. I am learning boundaries with myself and others. I change my dysfunctional beliefs. I do matter. I am grieving what I didn't get as a child. I am learning and accepting how I really feel. I am changing my mindset. Learning the truth that I am a wonderful person who is capable of healing and doing anything I want. I can have healthy relationships with myself and others. I an also learning emotional regulation with a DBT course.
I now tell my younger self...... You are with me now and I won't let anything bad happen to you. ❤

Every family has one. They just don’t listen because the message isn’t wrapped up in a pretty bow and it comes from people you have emotional triggers around. Sometimes it’s the person that tells you the truth. Most people don’t want truth they love smoke up their a$$… especially those who haven’t found sobriety around all the things including work, girly videos, games, and the harsher more obvious stuff.
Tony is good, his personal life has some things that are hard to deal with but it all makes up the man as a whole. I’m talking about some allegations of abuse I read about while looking into who he was

In reality it’s a huge turn off for women, being vulnerable as a man. I identify with him, but if a loving relationship is what he’s looking for, put on a brave face. Keep the vulnerability private and among other men who can help you.
@@johnqdoe in my experience that only holds true for younger women, the older they are the more they realize how it is to deal with someone who can't open up and be honest. Most women don't want someone who is constantly breaking down crying, but they also don't want someone who is blocking themselves off and burying emotions that will come out later in inappropriate ways

This is the second video i've seen of Theo that i respect tf out of, where he was really well spoken and authentic and showing he is and is becoming a good man.

Because they're attempting to feel part of something, anything, an idea, a group, a person, because we do that as humans as a means of surviving and gaining social acceptance and helping people understand what we feel. It's simply a statement man don't let it bother you so much, it's really not a big deal. Like really what do you expect their answer to be? You want to create an argument for something so basic and normal when really all they can probably tell you is "because I can and I did?". Not a biggy my dude. Peace brotha.

The interesting thing is I feel like a lot of people have the exact same internal dialogue, but we look at other people and think that everyone is just perfectly fine. I've learnt more here about myself than I've learnt in paid counseling sessions. Thanks Theo for sharing with us parts that most others would be afraid to, especially males. This isn't weakness, this is strength. I've only watched your funny stuff but after seeing this my respect for you has now skyrocketed.
Therapy can help, the REALLY hard part is finding one you can be that open with. I still hide things, but when I'm able to open up I get somewhere.

I made the decision to take a break from weed for this very reason. I distract myself from my emotions alot with weed and felt disconnected from who I was. I’m feeling things way more potently and clearly and it feels nice.
Same here 20 year heroin habit lost loads of friends and family no emotions just thinking about my next hit no one told me your the opposite with emotions when you come off them really got to me would cry for nothing over all the stuff i never dealt with was going to go back on drugs over it didn't no what was wrong with me. Year and a half later still clean 41 years old and getting a second chance with a new family new baby on the way cant wait life is good. ✌️
For real. Went through so much sht as a kid and a teen then young adult in college I crumbled and then the meds started all the way till last year. I'm 33 and been raw dogging tf outta life and damn the first month off was insanely hard. Emotions up the ass and remembering everything that's happen to me. You're not alone my brother. We got this.

thank you for being so vulnerable Theo. I grew up in a fucked up broken home and felt like a piece of shit who deserved nothing for years. Drowned my sorrow in drugs and alcohol but have turned a corner in the last few years. I really felt those words.... "my biggest addiction was self pity"
How do I shake out of it? It feels like it's integral part of me and I guess I'm so numbed out I cannot even imagine feeling good about myself, it feels wrong and fake af.
@@kubasniak I had a few mindset changes were essentially I realized the only one putting limits on me was myself. The gym was extremelly helpful, as was BJJ. I read Meditations by Marcus Aurelieus and that changed my outlook a lot on life. I also met a women who showed me that I wasn't a POS like I thought
For me it was letting my inner child out and ask why everytime a nasty thought came about. Trace it down with the why's and get to the core, if there really is one be relentless like the why's of a child. It's your brain and your the best detective for the job. For being special the why turned into if I'm still here then hows? Is it even possible I'm not special because I'm still here and made it out. Do you see where this goes, with child like eyes and yourself that made it can you see the thoughts are just habits that need updating! @@kubasniak
When I finally after 49 yrs got to my inner child for me she was tired, tired of caring all the emotions that were borrowed yet not mine. I told her I appreciate her strength and love although horribly expressed and I'd never forget what she'd been through but I'm moving on. Do know It did not take me 49 yrs to do this, spent way too many yrs drinking and shying away from dealing with it. Once I sat that aside I showed myself I cared enough about myself to start the work. Best wishes!

Seeing others talk & discuss this type of topic is always hard but rewarding for others. Makes you feel like your not facing difficulties alone. Our society has taught us to self isolate & this has been nice to connect & hear them discuss such a rough topic we all need to face head on.

Its that little boy a lot of us have- "we are not worth the time", "we are a bother", "if i was more then ppl would treat me better/stick around". Its important to remember that we are adults and perhaps the way to fully seal off that narrative is realizing that we are the adult we wish we had. @@Krzy-hoo not sealing off like being closed off but as a response or conclusion to past hurts. A lot of time trauma is a looping thought or experience. I'm no Gabor Mate or Bessel Van Der Kolk. Sometimes it's hard to know when you made it to the "other side".
I just began therapy and THIS IS EXACTLY what I go through and want to fix because it’s so overwhelming and suffocating at times. I cried empathizing wholeheartedly hearing your heart. Love how Tony breaks it down… it’s so raw. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

I highly suggest watching the seasons of mtv's The Challenge that Theo was on, it's not a big part of his career but he opens up about himself a bit similar to this. Good to see him connecting to his self again.

when I see bad in everyone that is my HUGE red flag that something is not right with my internal state. For me this is my self protective mode when I feel abandoned, in shame, triggered by insecurity or unworthiness.
Fortunately I belong to a 12 step fellowship (like Theo) that can help me be the person I want to be not just the one that reacts to a variety of stimuli like a mindless cog.
One day at a time, I get to walk around being a part of the whole instead of better or worse. It feels like freedom.

Tony Robbins is a really good guy, not just surface level good, but deep within
People are aware.! This is the most medicated Generation in history. They would rather take some form of medication than face those emotions. And i can't really blame them.! Others just self delete rather than deal with it. That would have been my choice, but God had other plans.

I made a joke in a comment a long time ago that Theo is so funny that I would consider becoming an alcoholic just to attend some of his AA meetings. Healing is hard but seeing Theo be successful and vulnerable just shows me that wearing your heart on your sleeve can impact people so positively.

thats so weird. thats exactly what happened with me. got 5 hours of sleep 3 days in a row that makes me delusional and rewiring the mind is exacty what I needed it to hear because its not true what we say to ourselves much of the time and you and I both have a purpose which made me think, how dare I be sad, and it made me smile. god bless you random stranger

Theo, thank you for being real and genuine and being someone so many of us understand and relate to. Thank you for making it ok to talk openly and not following the narrative of "don't talk about it, people don't want to be bothered with your problems, or fake it till you make it" because other people like me do want to talk about it, do want to know other people who feel the same things, and who can't pretend to be ok if we aren't. You are appreciated and your content needed. You are making people's lives better solely because they know you and it's nothing to do with material things, or money or needing you for anything else. It's just by being you. Hopefully you realize your value because of that fact.

Wow, I know Tony is famous for stuff like this, but I had no idea is so freaking _good_ at it. Maybe its just my limited exposure to people of his type, but his ability to listen, and actually hear what you are saying, and process that information quickly, and return relevant and helpful advice very quickly is god level. No wonder he is a living legend.

I’ve always felt like an anomaly amongst my peers in how I just don’t see my self worth but people validate it constantly by showing me in little ways, and somehow my story refuses to accept it. Seeing Theo be vulnerable is so awesome. All most people see is his goofiness, but seeing that he's just as human as all of us and struggles with the same things is just great.

I have been a Tony Robbins fan for years. This is the first time I have seen one of Theo's videos and I am instantly a fan after watching this conversation. The guy is truly genuine freely expressing his thoughts, and Tony, instantly more interested in helping him understand himself and how to improve than him being the one being interviewed. Both of you keep up the good work.
I cant tll you how much I appreciate you Theo, jut being a real Human Man and completely open and honest. It can be hard for most of us, but seeing others open up helps.

It used to be scary to feel proud because I never wanted to get too attached to the idea of a good thing out of fear it will go away and hurt me worse. I think when you’ve experienced any significant hardship or circumstance it’s common to not want to feel too proud of moving up.

It's one of the biggest obstacles isn't it?..... to be proud of yourself. To actually LIKE yourself... the least narcissistic thing you could do...
I can relate a lot to what Theo is going through right now. I'm in the same boat and trying to address it in therapy. I'm also a recovering alcoholic. I was trying to do list the positives and negatives that Tony asked and when trying to do the positives, all I could feel was awkwardness and embarrassment. I was relieved when Theo said he felt embarrassed because that means I'm not alone. So much work left to be done but I'll get there.
This is so cool to see Tony and Theo having a conversation like this. It's so real seeing someone who struggles with self worth have the glimmers of hope towards a different life. Maybe Theo will be a super positive motivational speaker one day ! 😅 Or at least, have deep love and acceptance for himself. We care about you Theo!! ❤️

I think anybody could talk to Tony and cry, he just has an aura about him that makes you want to open up and let out the stuff you been holding in.
