@@kensolar69 I want defense, Jazz has strong arm but throws are live sometimes and Volpe throws a lot of one hoppers so need someone who can field and he’s cheap for a year,,,
Goldie on a 1 year deal is smart. Low risk high reward and he won’t have a worse year then rizzo. First base overall for yanks whoever played was extremely bad last year. He’s also a true leader and can help along rice. Vet leadership and clubhouse leader for sure. 1 year deal is minimum financial risk don’t want Alonso at that price and plus I just think Pete is not that smart tbh.
Yankees have safety blanket with Bellinger now who can play 1B, they don’t have to give in and pay top dollar for a 1B. They can pivot to another OF with thump or go the trading route for a 1B
I have zero interest in Paul Goldschmidt. He's the last player I'd want to see the Yankees acquire. Give me Lamonte Wade Jr. at $4m or Jurickson Profar at $15m.
Santana would be a good place holder until rice can crack through. Its possible rice slugs his way in to the mix mid year. That lefty power is legit and he has nothing left to orove in minors offensively.
Alex and Ryan. Great channel and great knowledge by the both of you! Maybe in 2025 to save money yankees could just platoon Ben Rice and Cabrera at first base. Then in 2025 off-season hopefully get Kyle Tucker in left field and put Cody Bellinger at first base!
I think they got to get Santana at this point. The "focus" on defense goes right down the toilet if you have a crappy 1b. Bellinger is not enough after losing Torres and Soto. Pass on goldsmidt.
Cash was doing well so far can't mess this up. I would rather import higher $$ at 3B. I would trade for Arenado sending DJ & Stro to St Lou. Bad contract for bad contract even out money. Nolan has more left in the tank bat wise, and still is gold glove caliber D. It keeps us away from a long-term deal with Bregman and just the bad stuff with Houston. Sign Santana to play 1B for 1yr with & an option. Switch hitter. Gold Glover. I will take those attributes over Goldy who to me is Rizzo light. With Belly, JD, Santana, Wells, we have LH balance. Then let Peraza or Vivas win the 2B job with the other taking DJ's bench role. Leave Cabrera in UTL role. Again, with Peraza, Vivas, JD, Belly, Volpe, Jazz you have way more athleticism than last year. Cash can't cave and say price went down on Bregman, so you sign him hurts your chances for Vlad or Tucker next year and then you have a washed Goldy with Rice and a rookie at 2B.
I'll say upfront that I am psyched the Yankees are pursuing all these acquisitions. BUT I feel no one is acknowledging one glaring thing. Has ANY team ever added a new closer, a new ace starter, two new outfielders, and half of the infield . . . and done well? It is amazing how different this team is going to be next year,, and even more so given that we went to the World Series last year. Functionally, we are in a rebuild! I hope it all works, but have no f'ing reason to expect it to work.
Look, Y'all need to stop listening to what any of these writers say. None of them know. They do these things to stay relevant. Also, Y'all are too obsessed with hr hitters.
Don't disrespect Goldy bc his TEAMS haven't been in the postseason, c'mon y'all harp on about how small sample sizes aren't a barometer for a players success and then y'all talk smack about him. I don't want him either but it's bc his power is going and he's getting older.
@@mjrsportscards The Yanks aren’t on the list of six teams where Arenado said he’d approve a deal. I realize it’s not etched in stone and he could theoretically his mind, but it was also reported yesterday that his agent made it clear he doesn’t want to go to the Yankees, full stop. I forget where I saw it, but I promise you I’m not making it up.
@ okay, I’m aware of the 6 teams being the Mets, Red Sox, Phils, dodgers, angels, padres but didn’t see anything official about him saying hard NO on the Yankees.
@@mjrsportscards The bigger issue frankly is Arenado’s age (turning 34 in April) and the amount of time and dollars (3 yrs @ $30M per) remaining on his current contract. Whatever money the Cards might be willing to defray, it’s not going be enough for the Yanks to bite on a player in decline given where their payroll already stands.
It's nice to dream on, but it's highly unlikely Toronto would trade him to a division rival let alone the Yankees. Putting that aside, he's also never played a single game of third base at any level of professional ball ever in his life. That's not to say he couldn't make the transition, but I also have no idea if he could. If not, I suppose you could move him or Volpe to second (which he has played) and leave Jazz at third.
Goldy or Santana can work on a 1 year deal if Yanks intend for Ben Rice to be a legitimate first baseman, or they wanna try to spend next year on Vladdy. 🤷
Santana has surprisingly managed to keep Father Time at bay until now but is likely about to see his production fall off a cliff given his advanced age (turning 39 in April). That's not too encouraging for a guy who even at his best has been mostly just an average to slightly above average hitter. He's also a year and a half older than Goldschmidt, who turns 38 next September and is already clearly on the downslope of his career. Personally I don't think the Yanks should go near either one of them unless it's on a super-cheap, team-friendly deal.
What are they asking for to acquire Walker?. It seems that’s the player they really want. Otherwise grab Alonso. Average defense but surely a big bat!!
Christian Walker signed with the Astros... obviously a blow to the 1B market, BUT we still think a trade could be in the works!
20 a year for three years and draft picks, no thanks
Don’t see why signing Santana is not the move now,, unless it’s Yandy in a Trade,
@@JoseMedina-oc2nd Umm, he'll be 39 to start the season.

Trade only otherwise stick with Rice
Where there's smoke, there's Fireside Yankees
Nice
Nathaniel Lowe makes the most sense
Cashman has done a great job so far this off season. If they do sign Goldschmidt it would be the Yankees first mistake
Bs. If he has a resurgence. It would be a bargain

Man you 2 are so impressive your knowledge is incredible. Great job guys
Just go get Santana and lets get another Bullpen arm !
They should sign Carlos Santana. Still an above average hitter and defender, also will be cheap.
Agreed. Goldschmidt, a great hitter who's time has past. There has to be another righty batting platoon option to team with Rice.
Agree! Platoon for one year. Sign Santander
Great video guys, really enjoyed.❤

Signing PG would be a pathetic move. If they don't plan on bringing in a big time option at first base, I'd rather see Rice full time.
Sign Ha seong Kim, trade for Taylor Ward… wait for Murakami/Vlad. Also like the Brendan Donovan trade idea.
Boy, this team never learns
Dumb question but would the international pool money that Walker would've cost be before or after it resets?
Getting GoldSchmidt would ruin the optimism of the off-season

Arenado has a no-trade. He already vetoed a trade to Houston and has let it be know he'll do the same if they try to deal him to the Yanks.

Santana make sence $ wise for 1 year
Just saw an article about blue jays trading Bo bichette what do you think about trading for him to play third base

Yankees should be talking with Phillies for Bohm. Would be a cheap option and wouldn't have to give up that much.
Totally agree. He’s young with upside and his maturity issues would be handled in yanks clubhouse for sure. Woth the risk especially at that price
Don’t need another righty
Come on Yankees we can do better then that I rather sign Rizzo back for all that
How fast can we teach Spencer Jones first base?
He played 1st in college
Jason, Problem with Spencer Jones is he has a problem with strike outs. He strikes out quite a bit!
He lead minors with 200ks . He needs a lot to work on
It’s going to be a 1 year deal ill take him over signing Santander and putting him at 1B and hope he can catch a ball

Give Rice a shot.
That DJ stat is not an accurate representation of his year. The dude was hurt. Got to have a bigger sample size to justify those numbers.
