Great episode! It would be fun to see this done for DC with this same panel.
I see this was mentioned at the end. Nice!
What a wonderful surprise. I loved LOVED the going back and forth in this one. Everyone handled themselves well. We all have our own top 10 list, but this team effort's was great.
Such a fun show idea. Loved it!
Uncanny X-Force and Hickman Fantastic Four deserved to be on the top ten Evergreen list!
Here is my evergreen list:
• Fantastic Four by Jonathan Hickman (preferably the complete collections)
• Annihilation (book 1&2)
• Ultimate Spider-Man (I agree with Kurtis in that it should be those ultimate collections)
• Captain Marvel by Kelly Thompson
• Venom by Donny Cates and Ryan Stegman
All the picks were great, love the conversation...condolences on the end of peter and omars friendship...really hope you still join the show whenever you can :)
Agreed with all of peter's picks including silver surfer
Thanks for doing this, and please do more!!
For that last pick I would have gone for a Captain Marvel but it would have been the Kelly Thompson one.
I've been thinking about the Silver Surfer by Slott and Allred but this video has sold it again to me and I recently made space for more books.
As someone who did not like the Squirrel Girl series at all... it has to be on the evergreen list. It just makes sense.
Incredible people. Incredible discussions. Just Incredible. 💯❤️💯❤️💯❤️💯❤️💯❤️💯
My vote for this would be: Birth of Venom TPB. Just so much fun.
Love the concept. Don’t stop making these videos.
Kurtis with Alf at the end 😅 that was so fun! I agree with almost all of those picks, I would put Byrne She-Hulk in there myself
There needs to be an FF story in here for the film being released shortly.
This was so much fun, thanks for doing this Omar. Joined the Patreon fam to show my support.
I'm surprised nobody ever seems to mention The Silver Surfer: The Ultimate Cosmic Experience by Stan Lee, Jack Kirby. Such an emo, Shakespearean love story that, I would like to argue, inspired Slott's run just as much as Dr. Who did.
This was great. Keep doing videos like this, please.
My 3 evergreen picks would be:
The Unstoppable Wasp: G.I.R.L. Power(one of the few comics that made this 33 year old man cry)
Tom King's The Vision(a fantastic limited series)
Strange Academy Vol. 1: First Class(a great book that I think would appeal to readers outside the superhero genre)
A close 4th would be Venom: Lethal Protector(1993). I think that book is a solid introduction to the character.
Peter AND Jess!
Thanks for the great show! I read 6/10 (no joke Omar) of these books and I agreed with these selections. I will add Silver Surfer by Slott!
Surfer by Slott? Nah.
Adored Surfer by Slott and Allred
I know dc doesn’t have the same list but I’d love to see a dc version Omar
I knew Omnidog was gonna have Gwenpool on list, I just somehow knew it.
I rolled the dice that of the two, he would pick Squirrel Girl and I guessed WRONG!
@@PeterMarinari that was a surprise to me as well.
Planet hulk needs to be evergreen.
ZERO Fantastic Four representation?! Marvel’s FIRST Family?! The World’s GREATEST Comic Magazine?!
This whole panel should be ashamed of themselves!
Marvel is doing the same exercice with the Epic Collections covers, trying to guess whitch ones will meet Omar's satisfaction!!
Absolutely agree that Earth X should have been on the list. Love seeing Omar at least put Captain America: Winter Soldier on here. But how is it that no one has Thor by JMS?
Not read a lot of Marvel, but JMS Thor is awesome. I really liked Captain America: Winter Soldier, but found JMS Thor the epic read.
As the ONLY ONE who picked Thor (😂), JMS Thor is high quality but it's not a whole story. It's not even a story you can read a satisfying finish to, because Gillen had to drop in and rescue it. So, while I'd still recommend it to any Thor fan, I just don't think it hits as well for an Evergreen list where I fully believe things should either be one-shots or great lead-ins.
@@PeterMarinari Thor JMS lets the imagination run wild. Like when Battlestar Galactic ended on cliff hanger. Then BSG 1980 ruined all that filling it in. Not all stories need a ending or an answer. Lost was another series that not knowing would of helped.
@@PrivateCitizen84 I completely agree.
@PeterMarinari I'm not sure. JMS Thor is one of the books that got me into comics. It opens up a lot of branches for new readers to follow, especially with it being set after Civil War which is an evergreen title already. Just my opinion though.
Astonishing X-Men, God Love Man Kills, Runaways, Thor: Gorr the God Butcher, Wolverine, Winter Soldier are all great choices.
I’d add Planet Hulk, Secret Invasion, Days of Futures Past.
Is it possible to get a trade paperback of Mutan Genesis 2.0 with the original colors? I wanted to buy that book but when I checked the "modern coloring" my eyes started to bleed.
It previously existed as a Premiere Hardcover with the original colors, and it has the original colors in the Epic collection as well. The recolor only exists in the volumes marketed as 2.0, as far as I know.
Oh man. I really don't like the epic collections. Like, they are awesome and include so much content but I don't like to buy long series of TPBs. I have also been meaning to buy Joss Whedon's Astonishing X-Men Ultimate Collection edition but it rubs me the wrong way how volume 1 is being sold double the price on Amazon than volume 2 and each one has the same amount of issues.@@PeterMarinari
@@christianvandom The great thing about Epics is you really can just buy whichever ones you like. They aren't numbered on their spines and they tend to be mapped to be pretty self-contained. The Mutant Genesis one has exactly the stuff you'd want it to have, a great little hunk of X-Men comics.
You are right. I think I will buy an Epic Collection edition. But it will be The Demon Bear Saga instead. @@PeterMarinari
The true top ten evergreen list
10. The Draco
9. Beauty and the Beast
8. Marville
7. Ultimate Adventures
6. No nose Wolverine Complete Collection
5. ALF
4. Trouble
3. Iron Man: Teen Tony
2. Captain America: Heroes Reborn
1. World War II Propaganda and R*c*sm Complete Collection (censored in case the RUclips algorithm decides to be weird)
Heroes reborn????
@@doublez_are you telling me Leifeld Cap doesn’t fit in with the rest of that list?
You forgot NFL Superpro. 😂
@@Kyle_The_Mighty absolutely not 😂
@@Kyle_The_Mighty none of HR does imo
I'm shocked to see censorship defended by some of the panel. You do know what that leads to, don't you?
I loved that conversation. Because that's what we need more of. A difference of opinion in conversations, not everyone agreeing on the same thing and padding each other's backs. This was my favorite part of the whole stream, just people listening to each other and seeing different points of view.
@@elvaquerovaquero5243I agree, adults acting like adults.
As a non-American, I can't think of a mainstream superhero that I care less about than Captain America. I get that Marvel superhero comics are an American medium, but can we leave American-centric patriotism out of the evergreen list? It takes up a slot that could be spent on so many other classic books.
I see your point, but Captain America has some very good storylines. Even better than the Brubaker arc. I'm a non-American.
I like Cap not American. I like Thor not a god. Funny how that works?
@@PrivateCitizen84 Not the same thing. It's the Jingoism I find distasteful, not the fact he's American. Captain Britain puts me off too.
@@mrpandabites I don't have that sense of hang up with fictional characters in a fictional world. Captain Britain is on my list. Superman truth, justice and the American way is a fave. Dredd is a literal fascist enforcer in a future police state. Wanted a world of Super villians. The Darkness say no more. Comfortable tasteful reads is not what I am all about.
@@mrpandabites
So you're saying there's jingoism in Captain Britian as well? Don't think so.
