A brooding, dark wearing, mystical sword carrying hero, who doesn't want all that power... So Kit Harrington, you were made for the role, plus you get to hang out with Blade now too, you're set for life!
That description sounds super familiar. Like that character description has lots of potential to be great in a manga that's set in a medieval setting where demons and eldritch god like entities manipulating the world for their purposes that we know very little about. The character definitely has 1 eye and his amputated arm is replaced by a prosthetic arm with a cannon on it. He also carries a big sword, crossbow and is literally too angry to die. I mean this character could literally out anger the world breaker hulk. He may not be as strong as the hulk but his anger and hatred is exponentially greater than the hulk's anger could ever be. Now i'm interested in this story.

I feel that since Dane is in the MCU now they need to do a movie or series that shows the history of his family with flashbacks to the King Arthur days of Sir Percy. Especially since Arthur & Excalibur are MCU canon as mentioned in Eternals. Also please do a video on Dane's history as well as one on the multiple Black Knights in the comics. 7:35 Wearing a jacket over armor isn't actually that unreasonable. There are lots of accessories that are worn over armor, for example a "Surcoat" is basically a jacket over armor. Aside from looking fabulous it helped you tell whether the angry suit of armor was friend for foe.
I'm kind of surprised they haven't faced him off (to my knowledge) against Marvel's most famous dragon character, Fin Fang Foom. You'd think that's such an obvious thing to do.
I actually disagree with Drake's opinions on the Leather Jacket era, the Gatherers Saga and the story of Bloodwraith are both good reads, and his time with Sersi is dramatic and tragic. Oddly well written for the 90s.

Came back after eventually watching Eternals. I'd watched this months back and I felt so hyped as the realisation slowy dawned on me when I remembered where I'd heard the character's name before in the movie. So hyped to see him brought to the big screen!
Started reading curse of the ebony blade. Love the book. Hope Marvel keeps Dane relevant and gives him some new stories. Definitely a character with a lot of cool potential
GRRM is a big fan of Black Knight and even referenced in ASOIAF through the character of Arthur Dayne. I just thought that was interesting considering Kit Harrington is playing him.
Man I just wanna see what kinds of cool shit they do with Dane Whitman Since they're probably going to redo the character like they've been doing to lesser known characters in the MCU for years, I'd love to see what kinda of character explorations we could see with a character like the Black Knight. We only get a small taste of what Dane is like as a person, so seeing the potential of the character is fascinating to me.
I am pretty sure that they know pretty well what they're going to do with him in the MCU. That's why they employed Kit Harington for the role. It has a great future in the movies.
[ETERNALS SPOILERS BELOW] It's funny because that one scene in Eternals had me like "Look dude I get it. If I was dating someone who looks like Gemma Chan I too would pick up arms against a being powerful enough to be a God to try and save her but unless that thing can kill one I think you're up a creek." Looks like Dane is gonna do just fine.
I read Captain Britain and MI13 and honestly enjoyed it. I liked the depiction of Dane Whitman there. I think Faiza Hussain also has so much potential as a character and think they have good chemistry together. It would be nice to see the both of them used more.
I hope they delve further into the more complicated nuances of his relationship with Sersi, like that time she essentially made him her celestial-soul-mate without his consent when she started going crazy and everyone but him thought, “…this is okay…”
I just don't get how he's not used more in solo series'. The ebony blade is on par with mjolnir, all-black, cap's shield, Logan's claws and the iron man suits as one of the coolest weapons around and you can do a lot with exploring how Dane struggles to stay good with a weapon that draws him to be more evil. Also it gave us a panel of Thor not being able to lift it which is great 😂
The Black Knight is one of my all-time favourite characters 😙👌 I was so excited to see that he'd be in the Eternals, hopefully we see him in his full potential later on down the line
I feel like there's opportunity here for Marvel to roll up all of Dane's history together and position him as a really cool cosmic character. Especially since he's left the multiverse before and defends a magical realm. I could easily see him appearing alongside characters like Dr. Strange and Silver Surfer.
A sword that's said by the creator of the symbiotes, God of the void to be powerful enough to destroy entire universes, able to resurrect its owner so long as they have Arthur's blood, can cut through anything and everything. Thats pretty fucking awesome. They really need to do a sequel to the eternals, give kits black knight his own movies, connect it to the rest of the mcu where he meets people like doctor strange and have him join the fight against kang. It would be very interesting if he turns out to be the trump card that ends kang given how powerful his sword is.
5:45 So what you're saying is this blade (which can cut through just about everything) Takes all of your angst and uses it for its own power? I guess that'd make you some kind of edge lord, huh?
Kit Harington was introduced to Ryan Reynolds, at Wembley, in May 2022 and shown on ‘Welcome to Wrexham’ s1 ep16. I gather filming of ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ took place in Norfolk, for 35days, around July 2023. Harington lives in Suffolk … 🤔🤨🤷♂️✌️
Good thing Hulk didn't get his hands on that sword. For more swords and magic DC's Princess Amethyst had a few incredibly short animated shorts that from what I hear is radically different from her comic origin. (the shorts basically made her an anime magical girl)
now i am curious about a potential storyline exploring the time between the lady of the lake and the return of the ebony blade. End result, he either becomes a dual wielder, or the corruption of the ebony blade clashed with the holy power bestowed by the lady of the lake, and due to the blood bond with the ebony blade, the corruption could not be purged and for one reason or another he had to give up the other sword. Either way there is potential for a unique story, just as long as the character doesnt fall apart in the process.
