Byron Taylor what do you mean that you disagree though? Like with my statement or the other dude saying wishing he had a teacher making the difference?
Because of you guys I went out today with my sister and we bought our first boards together. Thank you for giving me the motivation to learn how to skate. Keep up the good work everyone
Amalia Madrid-Lilly remember, skating isnt an easy sport! But with the beginners I’ve seen, you’re doing way better than them 😹😹 just keep practicing and you’ll get there!
Slide front foot out and forward as if you raise your knee them do a kick to the side by swinging your foot that way , so after the knee raise keep it all there just swing your foot like a swing towards the nose. Didnt hear that here
Lol I was waiting for the step one, weight on tail, weight to nose.. step two, shred ur shoe for ten mins.. now try.. nope... Close.. you forgot step two!
Carlos is such a good teacher. I've been watching a lot of ollie tutorials and trying the practice steps from sms and have still been struggling with putting it all together, but he pointed out a few different things in this video that I haven't heard anyone mention before that made me think about approaching it differently. The step of popping and jumping without worrying about sliding your foot seems like the perfect intermediate step between trying the motions one at a time standing still, and then trying to just put it all together. My timing and coordination is my biggest issue in learning this trick and listening to his critiques and tips definitely made me think about it differently and cleared up some of my questions/concerns about the movements
If you are learning the ollie right now, i have a tip. What helped to me when i was learning it was just standing on my board, pop, jump and land. Don’t do the slide yet. When you feel comfortable doing it without the slide, just try to do an ollie while holding on something, i learned it this way and i got it in 1 day
I've never liked skateboarding until like 3 weeks ago from now. I had a skateboard when I was like 5 but didn't like it at all.(I'm 15 now) Yesterday one of my friends finally brought his skateboard out gave it to me and we went riding. My friends had pennyboards so we rode our boards without stopping. While we were staying I was trying to ollie but couldn't really do it. When I got home I started watching videos on how to ollie. So today we went riding again and after like 3 or 4 tries I did my first ollie. After it I started doing it more but I couldn't always land on the board. So I literally learned or I least get my first ollie in 2 days. Or in like max 4 hours of riding.
From watching I think the step you really missed was bending down further. You kind of mentioned it towards the end but that would have helped her a lot. She wasn't really popping and was more leaning her weight into the tail and then trying to hop. I think you could have gotten her ollieing better quicker if you focused a little more on that step.
Ban Velasquez well that, and this is Carlos first time teaching and as most first timers the expect the student to already know certain things... Example I legit got distracted when I was teaching my sister math and neglected to think about the fact she's only learnt to count with her hands
As a beginner this helped me because I got my Ollie down standing still but when he said jump towards him I never thought of that so I’m gonna practice that
Thanks carlos watched a lot of videos , this one really helped the most , the body leaning forward technique and a harder pop got me getting my ollie how i wanted it appreciate it legend , and thanks to the braille team for your awesome videos , recently started skating again and i love your channel, long live the braille legends
Never in my life have I had this much confidence in speaking to another human being. Lol and she’s 10 years old. Bright future no matter what she does. Very well spoken.
I’m struggling hard with the timing myself. I can Ollie a foot or 2. But the timing of already jumping and THEN snapping the tail down within a micro second is extremely hard to get down. But that’s where the real height comes. Hopefully I’ll get it.
Carlos is a good confidence boosting teacher. Aaron is a good teacher too don’t think I’m saying that though, they make a good team and really push people to do better an it works
They forgot the crucial step which was, don't push down with your back knee, push down with your ankle. If you push down with your knee on the tail, it won't generate as much power as well as forcing you to lean backwards and your front foot won't slide up as much and you just get a rocketed ollie (where only the front trucks get off the ground). If you use your ankle muscles to push your foot down on the tail, at the apex of your jump (Jump > Pop > Slide your foot > Lift back foot > Land) you will get a stronger pop as well as keeping your balance more towards the front. It's also handy to get the balance right so when you start ollieing while rolling, you won't land on the tail and crack the back of your head open when the board shoots out in front of you.
A thing that I notice is that most all skaters "throw their arms up" as they ollie to assist with the whole jumping motion; It seems rather essential to the whole motion. @11:18, watch his arms...
I love Braille! But a great idea is to do a version of “up to speed” Donut media does with cars. It would be so fun to learn where the name of each trick came from and maybe do one trick each week. Do some fun editing like donut media does with cars and I think people would love to see. As a non skateboarder but dreamer of starting because of Braille, I would adore hearing where the names of all these tricks come from, be thorough if you can, I have no place asking for that, but again check donut media on how they do up to speed and replicate that with skateboarding, love you all!
She had quite a few actual Ollie's in this video. Even with the skate trainers off! Practicing the timing between pushing your back foot down, and lifting it up off the tail, is really tough. It's very fast and if you're too slow your tail won't come up much even if you slide your foot right. The timing is very tight to transition from popping the board to lifting up your back foot. Because the back foot is basically holding it low to the ground when it tries to gain momentum upwards. Once the upwards momentum is shut down, nothing short of going really fast or sliding your foot forward really far will bring it up.
I dont know if its the way she puts pressure on the tail, maybe bc she's new into skateboarding, but I think she might try to skate in regular stance....
I'm kind of heavy, and was worried about snapping my board if I popped too hard. Yesterday I tried giving it a bit more pop, and it felt like I was getting a couple inches off the ground. Now I just need to work on my slide and leveling out.
This feels like the girl is 100% a public speaker and sales person
Azurii ikr 🤣
Meh not really
Azurii um,, how?
Nani-ka :D her voice is just so strong and confident, i definitely see it
@@sallyhoward2455 two years later im re watching this lmao, im definitely not a public speaker im just a loud extroverted person in general 😂
Carlos is such a nice guy, and an awesome teacher :)
2conOcio ikr and the cutest teacher!
Yeah
didn't realize how short carlos was until seeing him next to a little girl
To be fair that ten year old girl is huge for her age. But yeah Carlos is a small man haha. Seems like it aids him in skating though!
Same lol
WhY. u BuLlY M3
He be looking like don Ramon from El Chavo Del 8
Really? I’ve been could tell it even in his voice!!!😂
Carlos the G! Always patient and teaches really well.
Mrrabby89 Only if I had someone like that
Chewbacca218 218 you have a skatepark nearby?
I disagree completely when my Ollie’s looked like that my issue was that I only rid the bored for a bout 2 hours around my neighborhood.
Byron Taylor what do you mean that you disagree though? Like with my statement or the other dude saying wishing he had a teacher making the difference?
the way he explains it just makes so much more sense than every video i’ve seen before, thanks a ton for the help!
Liquid Mint still can’t f**king do it
Chikken Plays I just got my board and I’m getting good at it
This actually made me realize that my issue with ollies is that I keep forgetting that I need to jump, not just pop and slide
😂 you’re just sitting there popping the board and sliding “WHY WONT IT GO IN THE AIR!?”
Lol
Yesh that was my Problem too
Same lmao
JD Films did you learn how to ollie?
The fastest way to ollie is tapping the X button.
Your profile picture is probably your face when typing that comment.
Katastrophic 😂😂😂😂😂
Katastrophic Damn 😂
Rusty Nickels shut up I’m just learning and tha s not helping
Alex Barnes I mean he ain’t wrong
Carlos voice should be in a video game
Dead Weight DEFINITELY
Dead Weight omg yeah lmao
He should have been in a skate 3 game to be honest. I know this comment is old but someone just had to say it
If you ever watched Angry Joe Show. Other Joe sounds almost exactly like Carlos.
When I learned how to Ollie I just learned it by myself in my driveway, would have been a dream to have a great teacher like Carlos
same!!!
Omega G same
Because of you guys I went out today with my sister and we bought our first boards together. Thank you for giving me the motivation to learn how to skate. Keep up the good work everyone
Nice
Braille Skateboarding made me really want to start so I go a board for Christmas and now I practice tricks
He ded
Intersinister great!
Hey guys how are u going?
Is this just an ad for skater trainers 😂
honestly he keeps bringing up the quality restating the name and asking for a review.
yep. check the description
just cut tennis balls to put on the wheels and you only have to spend 4 dollars.
Staker trainers are cool but I much rather do it without because after using the trainers you can’t do it without them lol
Yeah, learn tricks without trainers. What are you going to do trying to Ollie standing still?
ITS ME
awesome! keep practicing and put your brother in the dust :)
Amalia Madrid-Lilly remember, skating isnt an easy sport! But with the beginners I’ve seen, you’re doing way better than them 😹😹 just keep practicing and you’ll get there!

Carlos is such a good teacher and very patient.
Lmao Carlos just had to mention he can do handstands on a skateboard
braille needs one of those hour long infomercials that comes on at 3am
The horses gallop description was really on point. It yeilded immediate visible results

I hit my face with an Ollie, it can happen
The Nerdy Brony 2.02 trash
Kinda scared me but good to know 👍🏼
While i did an ollie i accidentally hit my face with my hand
@@neotree1313 I scraped my calf with the grip tape
Dale Decker did the same thing and cracked his forehead open, took a picture of it and got into Thrasher 🤣
I think that's the first time I have ever heard someone use the phrase "same difference" properly
If arron was teaching her how to ollie then he would of taught her WAY diffrently
Arron would of made her practice every step
Jezus Hemzelf gRaMmAr pOlIcE
Lol I was waiting for the step one, weight on tail, weight to nose.. step two, shred ur shoe for ten mins.. now try.. nope... Close.. you forgot step two!
*STEP TWO*
Well i think that he explained it better
Gotta love the confidence this girl has in front of a camera. When I was this age I would not have been so comfortable being filmed. Props to her.

Do a Progress Daily series where Carlos teaches a newbie using skateboarding made simple!

Haven’t seen a Braille vid in a min but always love watch los teach people!
I thought Carlos was a kid at the beginning
I kinda got the board to pop naturally, but i feel like the sliding part isnt there. I feel like im not sliding even if i am
Peter Le sameeeeee😭😭😭 have u learned how to yet?
Carlos is seriously an incredible teacher. Very kind and very versed.
I want Carlos to do a impossible into and nose Manuel. Please let this comment get seen

Its not his first time.. I doubt its his 100th... he has been doing lessons for quite some time.
Awesome job by all involved!!

IT'S NOT ALWAYS ABOUT YOU GAB.
Bits of Pulp is this a joke
chill m8
I love watching Carlos teach people.
Sensei Carlos!!! Dude's an excellent teacher.
Watching them teach someone in person is way better because most the problems she is experiencing a lot of other people are as well.
Do ollies in the grass and it does the same thing as the "skate trainers"
U get to pop though. My alternative is going to Walmart getting 4 tennis balls for like $3 and cut them and put them on the wheels
Carlos is a chill dude
I want also that patient teachers in my school
Carlos is an awesome teacher man!!!
Thanks carlos watched a lot of videos , this one really helped the most , the body leaning forward technique and a harder pop got me getting my ollie how i wanted it appreciate it legend , and thanks to the braille team for your awesome videos , recently started skating again and i love your channel, long live the braille legends
When he said it’s like a gallop, it clicked in my brain and it makes the motion so much more simple. Mind blown
Awesome class

Holy shit Carlos is a great teacher!
have i found the "carlos teaches" playlist? if not please direct me to it xD
Feel like people rarely teach how to jump and push down to pop at the same time
Benny the Bear exactly , you kinda need to figure that out by yourself timing was really hard for in the beginning too
I’m struggling hard with the timing myself. I can Ollie a foot or 2. But the timing of already jumping and THEN snapping the tail down within a micro second is extremely hard to get down. But that’s where the real height comes. Hopefully I’ll get it.
JUST LANDED MY FIRST OLLIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Carlos a pretty good teacher.
Half of a Gallop...genius way to explain the leg motion. Imma use that this week when teaching my friend's daughter to ollie.
This girl is the definition of me in skateboarding right now
2:37 that's a joke. The back foot leaves the board before it pops. Anyways great video!
Im happy you guys made another ollie video. Been trying to make mine better for 6 months! Great video! 👍
This is exactly what I need!!
carlos is the best teacher
Carlos is a good confidence boosting teacher. Aaron is a good teacher too don’t think I’m saying that though, they make a good team and really push people to do better an it works
Carlos slinging those skater trainers like a used car salesman

Did you turn the skateboard off and on agin?
puppyloverslime 2345 that joke is so old
Carlos sounds like abridged Kirito XD
Thank God I clicked on this video on the right time now I can ollie I just had to lift my board from the middle of the tail like he said
I like how he got on the floor to see her Ollie better.
Landed my first tre flip today

“Its almost impossible landing a high Ollie at your first day” it’s almost impossible land an Ollie on your first day.

I have a tip that worked: to make your ollie higher try to do the kickflip foot raplacment
Why does it look so easy when Carlos does it
I'm sorry but those shoes disgust me Amalia I'm sorry
she’s a good learner :,)
Thats how Carlos showed me how to Ollie
HI! BILLY MAYS HERE FOR BRAILLE SKATEBOARDING!
