- Now here’s a retro Asian recipe that needs some love: bang bang shrimp. Or bang bang prawns. Creamy. Spicy. Crispy. Juicy. Regardless of what you want to call this classic dish, one thing’s for certain - nostalgia never tasted so good.

I didn’t know this dish was retro. I first tried Bang Bang shrimp circa 2009 while on a business trip in Alabama. Was celebrating a big win and it was forever cemented as a favorite appetizer. Thank you for this recipe. Simple, classic.
Marion! I just moved to New Zealand and I'm so excited to find your sauces at the supermarket 😂
what are they called?? nz
I wish you could get them in Canada!
@@zeus-bx9xw I saw them at countdown in the Asian aisle, but the selection was quite limited
This is suchhh a classic like 90's dish. I remember having this when I was little and being obsessed
i don’t get how you make the coconut sriracha so amazing but it is truly the best sauce EVER
Generally I find it a little too sweet for my tastes, but in this dish it would be perfect.
Aw thank you!
Thank You. Thai food has saved my life because I listened to my Thai friends and my taste buds and coconut milk, oil, and coconut meat have helped my heart and every time I start to get sick, Tom Kha Kai drives it away.
Thank you Marion. Love your recipes!
Looks fab for tonight's dinner, I am adding some lime juice, salt, and pepper to the lettuce. As You want to feel some freshness mixed with those sweet-spicy prawns. Thx you Marion and say hello to Mama Noi.
Sounds awesome!! 🙌
One of my favorite dishes! Thanks!
Looks so good, defs making this!
You make everything seem so doable and easy. The plus point is, it is!
I remember having something like this in a fusion restaurant in Chelsea, but it was served with walnuts as well. It brings back memories 🙌🏻
Yum!! Looks so delicious! Easy to make, too 😀
Love the Classics, especially done by you Marion. Can't wait to try and Thanks for sharing.
Oh that’s so lovely of you to say! Thank you! I love doing the classics too!
I remember the first time I ate bang bang shrimp. Wow, the crunchy coating, bouncy shrimp, and spicy-creamy sauce set my mouth on flavor! Yum! Your video makes me want to go home now and whip up a batch. Thanks for sharing.
Delicious Marion ! I will try ! Going to the Asian Market for some coconut shiracha ! Yummy !
Another amazing recipe! You really do have a good appreciation for flavours!
Marion always has my mouth watering. Another recipe to make my kids happy, I'm making it this weekend. Thank you Marion for making me look good!!!!❤
I hope your kids love it too!!
Thank you so much my beautiful friend, Chef Marion, you’re Kitchen Charisma at its very Best!❤Good God bless you and yours ❤
Ok, like, your recipes are - as you like to say - epic! I've made lots and enjoy every one I make. Yum!
BUT...yes, there is a but...WE NEEEEEED your products in Europe as well! Especially the Netherlands. Amsterdam & suburbs to be precise. I mean, I truly believe it's a basic human right to get access to your coconut sriracha. Don't you agree? 😁 Please 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 make it possible to ship your products to the other side of the pond. I'd be most grateful! ❤
Bang Bang shrimp!!!! First had a restaurant called Bone Fish here in Houston. Fell in love. But they went out of business. So miss it. I might try this. Nice video. Dad was too cute in the background.
It's all YUM !!!
Looks delicious 😋
I just realized I hadn't seen a Marion video in ages. Is anyone else finding that her videos aren't being recommended?
Dax is so funny with his love for coconut sriracha 😂
He literally puts it on everything 🤣
Marion.... I use spicy garlic chili crisp instead of Sriracha. Worked beautifully.
Yum! These look so stinkin good!
An 80’s dish!!!! I will eat this until a pass away!! I mean isn’t a steak just a dish from 3,000 BC? But we are still eating that?
Wow you totally upgraded this dish into something even more incredible with your coconut sriracha sauce
YES!!! Delish!
I would prefer to have the shrimps without the mayo or mayo on the side , luv your recipe xoxo 💋🍤shrimpy yummy
You must definitely taste this one in Din Tai Fung Dubai. It’s just the best ever, especially the coating is soooo crunchy, the people in the next table could literally hear you. Can you please get the recipe for it 😍
Yes!! I love the bucket of that coconut sirache sauce.. I love this dish..
The coconut sriracha is AMAZING on scrambled eggs for breakfast. I was so worried when it disappeared from Coles and I had to trek to Woolies for it - thankfully my favourite breakfast is safe!
Looking at the finished plate of shrimps/ prawns with this delightful coating of sauce on them boy they look a treat and I wish I had them now 2 eat bloody brilliant Belfast northern ireland
Wowwww yummy shrimp
Retro be damn -- this is the best EVER
I like 8ties or even 7ties dishes. Like deviled eggs. Or, here in Germany, there always was a cheese-hedgehog: a grape and a cube of gouda cheese on a thoothtpick, stuck into an orange. (just for presentation). Little things, but there are so many of these ideas.
Do you have "Ritz Crackers", down under? Little crackers, topped with mostly creamcheese, spiced and decorated in any possible way.
So, a platter of those can look soooo amazing. And would come with such a variety of things.
That Easy Bang🧨 Bang🧨 Fried Crispy 🍤 looks really good & delicious😋 & ❤🤍💙 all your videos #MARION👍
Love you now and way back when in that Australian show, you are so fierce! I'm in NYC.
Thanks Marion. I'll make it this weekend. ❤
Hope you love it!
Oh wow! Something from the 80's that looks better today than it did back then 😂.
😂
Wow sarap naman Ng food and keep it up and more videos like this and more recipes to cook. God bless and More power!
So do u heat the sauce up or is it cold
I love to make oriental dishes. And I haven’t done this before. I just learned how to make sushi. I’m curious on what ingreds I can put in my sushi. I use English cucumber, shrimp and carrot. That’s all I can think of. I love to fry also but limit frying to twice a month. Health reasons. Also I’m looking for a crispy tempura batter that stays crispy longer. And what to dip in my tempura. Ty for your great recipe.
Delish 💜🌸 yummmmm …. 80s or 50s it’s delicious 😂
What's for dinner tonight? THIS
I’m so sad. 😢 I am down to my last bottle of coconut sriracha. It is no longer available in the U.S. I stockpiled when we were notified that wed no longer be able to get it, but like Dax i love it. Nothing else like it on the market
I’m sad it’s no longer in the US too :-( Sorry!!!
Just wondering if this can be made in the air fryer?
Hay marion would that work with tempura batter as well
Bye the way I love your videos ❤😅
No the tempura batter is too light and the sauce would make it soggy
I used to get your sweet chilli sauce from the local grocery store but they stopped selling it and I haven't been able to find it anywhere, since. :(
😍
Prawns!!
Yummy Yummy
Wow! That's it?
I had bang bang shrimp 2x and still think about it!
And i could have made it...
yummy
👍 Times 20 for seasoning the food, not the breading!
Doesn't matter if it's Fish, Pork, Beef, or Whatever! Seasonings in the Breading burn, especially the Powdered Ones.
That said, I do add Salt and Pepper to some Breadings.
YES! why are people so against '80 dishes? they are good! here in Italy some snob chefs have a vendetta against pasta panna e salmone (pasta with cream and smoked salmon sauce) 'cause "it's too '80"… but it's delicious! Uncultured swines. BTW, you made me hungry even tho I've never had bang bang shimps! You're cruel! 😆
PS: here corn starch is called maizena/amido di mais and it's what you've used here, but we also have corn flour we use to make polenta or cakes! they're different things.
For me personally, I like to put seasonings directly onto meat and then into corn flour as well.
These pretzels are making me thirsty.
Add some desiccated coconut after the flour…😋😋😋
Could you substitute yogurt for the buttermilk?
i wonder if you could do this with scallops. i love scallops.
HI marion Thank you for the easy Bang Bang Shrimp.looks so super Yummy. But I had one Question How do you cook with your jacket on.Because If I do the Marion Style like that I will be very hot.because every time I am in the kitchen especially during the summer now I had to wear something light. just saying 🥰. Bonjour from Montreal canada.
wow so this is Gluten free!!
Finding good shrimp near me is difficult. I think I'll try this with chicken chunks.
Great idea!

Thank you for watching ❤️❤️❤️
hello Marion, what's up
Love your recipes, I'm having trouble buying your cookbook set( the delicious set) here in FL, USA. I've gone on your website, but it won't allow me to proceed to actually checkout. Maybe you have a helpful way of handling this?????
Hi Michelle, it might have been an issue when one of the books was not in stock in the USA. But my team have checked and the full set is now in stock and they did test out a checkout to a Florida address just now. Would you mind trying again? Please let me know if you’re still having issues. Thanks for your interest in my books! 😍
@@Marionskitchen I will try again tomorrow a.m., thank you so much for getting back to me.
I didn't know about sriracha in the 80s. No retro for me. I do know about sriracha flavoured Kewpie today, and also Sriracha mayo. One less step to make what looks like a delicious dish. Back to the future? Who cares? Yum!
Hi Marion, absolutely love your recipes and channel and the general generosity of your knowledge sharing. I often put your videos on auto play and have them on in the background while I cook.
I was a little surprised when this video came up and Dax made the joke about being a homeless person willing to work for sriracha. Though I understand the aim of the comment was to stress how much he loves sriracha, in particular yours, I just wondered if your team would reconsider what appears to be a joke at the expense of a homeless person. It didn’t sit right with me and just made me a little sad. I get the intention behind what was said but wonder if your team considered how it might be received by some people. It hurt my heart a little. A similar joke might be a picture of his resume with “salary expectation: sriracha”. I also completely understand that Dax in no way would be the first or last person to make that joke. Perhaps it is one we can retire as a society?
That’s all I had, keep on cooking and thank you for your work. Just some feedback from a fan.

When your gf cooks this fish, you'll go bang bang after because it's so delicious
You’re telling me a retro fried this shrimp?
Jokes aside, this looks divine
ρℓѕ ωяιтιиg
It can’t more spicy than korean chili sauce but I would eat bang bang shrimp with rice, not with salad
Did it Shrimp?
Hi Marion, love your recipes but if I try to pin them in Pinterest, it asks me to give Pinterest access to my photos. Happens each time.
I heard Fish and curd is not good for health.. ds food is health y?
Oh Marion please, don’t you start as well: “the dish I can’t stop eating”. It’s just not true and there are enough people on RUclips using these ridiculous superlatives like: “I make this 4 times a week”, and “the whole world is going mad about this recipe”. Your channel and recipes are great, you don’t need to try and big them up with nonsense titles, honestly.
Touching cornstarch/flour...EEEEEEEEEEK
What country food is it?
I think Thai or Vietnamese because it's very similar to this dish i ate there before. Tho i think it's more of a fusion now bc of the mayo and buttermilk probably.
Is Marion pregnant again?
