I made this tonight and it was delicious. Needed more heat and I only had large shrimp in the freezer that I wanted to cook up. Next time, smaller shrimp. The corn starch gave it the perfect crunch. The sauce was great! Thank you for sharing this!

Never heard of Band Bang shrimp until I had Bang Pow shrimp at the local Indian casino. Looked it up and I'm hooked. They used a bed of cabbage, but....Now I just have to see if there's a local Bonefish. Do a comparison, then try my hand at yours. Not a huge cook since I'm single and hate eating the same thing for days. Thus recipe is easy to keep small!

Hello, please can you tell me the ratios Bonefish uses and the brand of Mayo, chili, and sriracha? I used a sauce with those 3 ingredients and it was awful and nothing like the real Bonefish sauce. I took some to go and tried mine with those 3 ingredients of the Hoy Foods sweet chili and it it looked the same but tasted nothing and I mean nothing like it..

It’s nothing like theirs because you’re right it’s missing chili garlic sauce, lemon juice and vinegar. There is no sriracha in it. It’s not fried with corn starch nor in vegetable oil.
We went to Florida a few years ago (before you all got MAGA stupid), and absolutely the Bang Bang Shrimp at Bonefish was to die for. Thanks!! I have found this same recipe elsewhere. It is absolutely the best!!!
I just tried this and the sauce didn’t taste right. I’m not a cook so I told my wife to just get and sweet chili sauce which is not the same as yours. I honestly didn’t think it would make a difference but it does.
Thats a bummer. The brand of chili sauce can definitely make difference. Some are sweeter than others or taste a bit different. You can always call ur bonefish and ask what brand they use. I try to get the authentic sweet chili sauce from an asian market.

This isn't the recipe. Sriracha is not an ingredient. You need to look for another style of spicy, garlicy Asian sauce. (Try somewhere South of the Philippines, West of Papua New Guinea and north of Australia) 4 parts mayo, 1 part Thai Sweet Chili. 1/2 part the other very common/widely available sauce/paste and a splash of a particular citrus

The recipe has changed a lot over the years, and they switched to sambal after a few years. Thanks for bringing it up, because with the price of Sriracha these days, it's a much cheaper alternative. The ingredients for the bang bang sauce is incorrect. The breading used to fry the shrimp is incorrect. Even the type of oil you’re using to fry is incorrect.

You certainly can use flour in a pinch. It just won't give it as much of a crunch, and will be a little heavier of a coating. Still works tho!

That one is a little tough. But you should be able to find it at any normal grocery store in the ethnic isle

You did not shoe adding buttermilk or corn starch or how much I should say.
Just enough buttermilk to soak the shrimp in. The cornstarch is just enough to coat them.

Hope this helps a bit. The spicy level changes based on how new the sriracha is too! it always varied at the restaurant as well.

I heard now they make it a little different. They use sambal instead of Sriracha, and add lime juice.
