  • (Full Recipe and Directions listed below!) This is by far one of my favorite appetizers. It's absolutely delicious, and super easy to prepare. This style of shrimp is popular at a lot of chain restaurants and is usually called "Bang Bang", "Boom Boom", or "Firecracker Shrimp". Today, I'm showing you how to #MakeItHappen in your own kitchen! I hope you enjoy.
HERE IS THE FULL PRINTABLE RECIPE mrmakeithappen...

    Ingredients: Grocery List
1/2 - 1lb large peeled and deveined shrimp
    1/2 cup mayo
    1/4 cup sriracha
1/4 cup sweet thai chili sauce
    1 - 2 tsp soy sauce
    1.5-2 cups corn starch
2 beaten eggs and 2 tbsp heavy cream or half/half
Season corn starch to taste with salt, pepper, onion powder.
    Directions:
Begin by defrosting your shrimp if you're using frozen. Once the shrimp are defrosted, go ahead and soak them in your buttermilk for a few minutes. While your shrimp are soaking, prepare your corn starch. Season the breading mixture to taste. (Ensure that the flavor in the corn starch seasoning is well balanced to your preference of salt/spice, etc)
Next, it's time to make your sauce. Mix together 1/2 cup of may, 1/4 cup sriracha, and 1/4 cup sweet chili. Taste and adjust spice level by tweaking the amount of sriracha vs sweet chili you decide to use. Then add 1tsp of soy sauce and mix thoroughly.
Next, prepare a plate or wire rack, and begin to bread your shrimp. Ensure that they are all evenly coated, and place them on the plate to rest while you prepare your oil for frying. I used a cast iron skillet here, but you can use whatever frying pan you like. Fill the pan up to about 1/2 inch worth of cooking oil. (high smoke point oil like peanut or vegetable). Carefully place your shrimp into the 350 degree oil and cook for 1.5-2 minutes per side. Flip and cook an additional 2 minutes or so. Carefully move the shrimp around in the oil regularly, to make sure that they do not stick to each other or to the bottom of the pan. Once the shrimp are golden brown and cooked through, remove them to a plate.
Add your shrimp to the sauce and coat. Garnish with diced green onion, and enjoy your new favorite appetizer! Thanks for your support!

1st thing i NEVER leave comments about anything EVER....
2nd i do not eat seafood, but my husband does. I followed the recipe, used shrimp for my husband and sub boneless skinless chicken thighs for me. (I chopped them into bite size pieces). Made a double batch of the sauce.... All i can say is AMAZING.. my husband was iffy because of the siracha, He isn't a fan. But it was the best appetizer ever. Thank you so much for this. Defiantly a good try with chicken if you do not eat seafood!

I absolutely love these, a restaurant I worked at for years had them on the menu and at the time I thought it was the owner's idea haha. I will say though, if you really want more spice, the way we made it was with Sambal Oelek garlic chili paste instead of sriracha. Same company as classic sriracha, just thicker and spicier due to the red pepper flakes in the Sambal. Give it a shot, it's marvelous. Thanks for the video man!

I don't really sub to anyone but you earned it. I have a bad habit of frying things until they're brown (I love em with deep color and crispy). So when you said cornstarch will never turn that brown color, that was the biggest cooking tip I needed. I've fried things to oblivion waiting for them to turn dark and just kept wondering why they wouldn't. I've gained a new appreciation for shrimp lately and never had bang bang shrimp. I'll be making this some time soon. Also, great video. Thanks for the recipe!

Made these last night. They were so good. Even my mom liked it & she doesn’t like mildly spicy food lol. I used flour bc I didn’t have corn starch but I will use corn starch next time

I’m DEFINITELY trying these out this weekend! This is my favorite thing from Bonefish. I always order these and a Cesar salad but the closest bonefish is kind of far, like 25-30 minute drive so thank you for sharing the recipe!! So excited to try it out

Bonefish? Oh, yeah I remember. That was back when you could go inside a restaurant and sit down to eat. Glad you saved a bit of civilization in video format so we could do this at home. Looks tasty.
