Sadly he died of Aids in March of 1994. He made a few great POP hits. That were full of positive energy, his songs made you want to dance. R.I.P. The 70's-mid 80's were far from perfect. But were a much happier time. Most people got a long too.
Dan made more than "a few" pop hits and he wrote songs for and recorded with James Brown, Tina Turner, Chaka Khan, Nona Hendryx, David Lee Roth and countless others.
'a few"? Hartman's songs have been recorded by James Brown, Chaka Khan, Diana Ross, David Lee Roth and many others. He also produced Brown, Little Richard and several others.
Another megga hit from 1978…. The beautiful Linda Clifford, singing the Broadway hit from “Sweet Charity”…. “ If My Friends Could See Me Now”. Another high energy song that filled the dancefloor!! 🥂😜🤪🔥🌈
Dan was from my hometown. Had many great times dancing at pool parties, Legion and fire hall dances to his band The Legends. The Legends were recognized at the time as one of, if not the best, rock cover bands in the larger Central Pennsylvania area, as well as for performing their original material. Dan got his big break when asked to sit in with Edgar Winter, subsequently joining that group until lunching his solo career during the disco era. Dan left us way too soon... RIP Dan.
Woo hoo hoo! I am so glad you enjoyed this song too Jay and Amber! I love this! what a fun 'Blast from the Past!" I forgot about this song! I think I was 12 or 13 maybe when this song came out! I forgot all about this song. Used to dance to it at high school dances. I'm looking at the guitar player though and thinking, noooo! It can't be!. Sure enough, after I went and checked it out, it's Vinnie Vincent from KISS. I can't unsee it now. LMAO! Then I just learned that the bass player is G.E. Smith. The band leader from Saturday Night Live.
Since you like both disco and Star Wars, I think a future reaction should definitely be Meco. Very underrated disco artist even though he was on the same Casablanca label as Donna Summer.

This was a "Never off the radio" song for a full year back in 1978/1979 and in the end I never ever wanted to hear it ever again! But that was then and this is now - and yeah, it is a fun good humoured track and made for dancing.
can you two imagine the difference between sitting in front of a computer watching this video or being in an actual disco in the 80s on a sweaty Friday night like me and my friends were with 300 other people jumping around to this wild fun song? And "Relight My Fire" is even wilder.
More Earth Wind and Fire Please: That's the Way of The World, Be .Ever Wonderful, Got to Get You Into My Life, Get Away, Sing A Song, Can't Hide Love,, Devotion, Evolution Orange, so many more! THE ELEMENTS PLEASE!
What??? Hall & Oats GE Smith! Didn't know he played on this! And Vinne Vincent too!? Some crazy music history there!!! Grew up on this and loved it at the end of the disco era before the 80s. I remember watching this on a tv disco show
One of Dan Hartman’s songs ‘ Relight My Fire ‘ was redone by a boy band Take That , a group that hasn’t featured on your channel yet that had many hits in the 90’s . They are joined by Lulu ( whose song ‘To Sir With Love ‘ you reviewed a few months ago and loved )
Never heard this one before. This was fun. Felt like a mix of ABBA and Leo Sayer. Song Suggestion: Cover Girls--Show Me. Patreon Movie Suggestion: Clash Of The Titans (1981).
Yet we are starving for Earth Wind &Fire. Maybe Philip Bailey put voodoo on this channel but only four EWF songs and none in over a years seems negligent for a reaction channel that's done five Osmonds songs.
His masterpiece is “Vertigo/Relight My Fire,” with the incomparable true disco diva Loretta Holloway on vocals. A must listen!
And backed by the great MFSB, the heart of the Philly Soul sound
Yeah, I absolutely loved that one! Maybe they will enjoy it some day.
It still used to go down a storm in the UK House clubs 20 years later.
Loleatta Holloway, not Loretta.
did you buy the "Keep The Fire Burning" Dan Hartman compilation? The version of "Relight My Fire" is instrumental!

Meco was a New York record producer, arranger, and orchestra conductor who had a knack for taking movie themes and making them very funky and perfect for the clubs. Very underrated disco artist even though he was on the same Casablanca label as Donna Summer.
Goid song but OMG..RELIGHT MY FIRE has that Friday night nyc vintage disco bear that is sure to wind up on your playlusts and its gormt Lolita Halloway doing backup.
It can't get much better ..unless it came with a light up dance floor.
Your Beoomlyn friend ~Red..the o.g. disco queen
Great track from the late Dan Hartman
This was a "Never off the radio" song for a full year back in 1978/1979 and in the end I never ever wanted to hear it ever again! But that was then and this is now - and yeah, it is a fun good humoured track and made for dancing.
No I’m Not doing my 80’s choreographed dance right now!! 😂💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻
Fun fact........Dan Hartman was the bass player in the Edgar Winter Group's video "Frankenstein" that you reacted to.
Huge disco hit in the clubs.
This is an absolute disco classic.
can you two imagine the difference between sitting in front of a computer watching this video or being in an actual disco in the 80s on a sweaty Friday night like me and my friends were with 300 other people jumping around to this wild fun song? And "Relight My Fire" is even wilder.
More Earth Wind and Fire Please: That's the Way of The World, Be .Ever Wonderful, Got to Get You Into My Life, Get Away, Sing A Song, Can't Hide Love,, Devotion, Evolution Orange, so many more!
THE ELEMENTS PLEASE!
Other good songs by Dan Hartman are "I can Dream About You" and "Relight my Fire." Sadly he passed away in 1994, RIP Dan. Thanks for posting.
so talented. who can’t dance and smile upon hearing this
What??? Hall & Oats GE Smith! Didn't know he played on this! And Vinne Vincent too!? Some crazy music history there!!! Grew up on this and loved it at the end of the disco era before the 80s. I remember watching this on a tv disco show
What a FUN song! I had this on a 12" vinyl single back in the day and wore it out! RIP Dan Hartman.
The bass player is G.E. Smith and the guitarist is Vincent Cusano, the future Vinnie Vincent of Kiss.
I Can Dream About You has that great Motown vibe
This truly takes me back to high school. One of the first songs I ever choreographed a dance routine. ❤
They used this song on an episode of The Righteous Gemstones. Perfection.
Never heard this one before. This was fun. Felt like a mix of ABBA and Leo Sayer. Song Suggestion: Cover Girls--Show Me. Patreon Movie Suggestion: Clash Of The Titans (1981).
Oh my gosh! I forgot all about this song! 😂 Great stuff! Thanks for reacting to this! 🥰
You all have done the Dan Hartman trifecta in my opinion. Love it!
Yet we are starving for Earth Wind &Fire. Maybe Philip Bailey put voodoo on this channel but only four EWF songs and none in over a years seems negligent for a reaction channel that's done five Osmonds songs.
1:44 Guys you should next play Living in America sung by James Brown but written by Dan Hartman.
This is a disco classic!! It's on my personal disco playlist. 😀
they still play this sometimes at the club
