    Couldnt agree more with your comment about photo etch.
    It can be thoroughly enjoyable to build but also a real pain to get right with timy parts

    Awesomeness like always...just that you painted off the dark grey foretop horizontal surface...that was dark grey as well...I sent you a photo and a couple of videos..By the way probably too late now but black boot stripe goes around secondary barrettes as well as Anton and Dora....Also a window missing in conning tower front...a slit like on sides...💞💞💞💞

    Hi. Great series of videos, really enjoying them. You mentions Compass Repeaters and that you didn't know what they did. They are basically compass indicators driven by the main compass. The main compass will, I guess, be in the bridge and the repeaters basically display main compass heading at the remote locations where they are located.

    PE is difficult for me, but keep trying. Of course I've only used it on 1/700 and 2 1/350. My next one is 1/200. Thank for sharing Steve.

    She (He) is taking shape nicely Steve. To my eye, the searchlight and compass gear about the bridge could do with a dark wash, and the rafts similar with maybe a dark brown to bring out the lashings. With all those 20mm, I am constantly amazed that all the Swordfish returned to the carrier.

      I was thinking about a brown wash on the rafts John I might well do that👍

      @@TheModelShed It is a good Idea to get some rust washing on some bits and parts as well, to give the Model more a used look to it. It is just an idea..! Thanks for sharing your Videos and they are a great help to build Models in higher Quality. Greetings from Germany. Jens

    I wonder about the black bootline you put on these bridge parts, also in the last episode. Since this sits on top of another superstructure piece there are a few areas where it joins up with another wall of the lower part and creating one surface. For example the cut out for the 150mm secondary turrets and the small part right in fron of it, below those outriggers, or the rear of the different bridge levels. I am doubtful these areas should have it.

      That’s absolutely right I’ll paint these sections out. it’s just easier to paint the black and apply the masking tape in one piece all the way around before reinstating the pale grey where needed.

    Do you find the adhesive on the wooden decks sufficient? Any lifting on the Hood since it’s completion? Some modelers insist on applying white glue on the deck as well…

    • @TheModelShed
      @TheModelShed  2 года назад +1

      I’ve had no problems with lifting on the Hood decks Paul. I’ve heard about modelers using white glue but I can’t see how that would work long term. When applied to a plastic surface white glue will form a brittle skin over time and I’d expect it to separate from the plastic. At that stage it will be a barrier to the Pontos glue. It sounds very risky to me.

      No - it needs quite a bit of work on it. I’ll finish it one day 🤔🤔
