The thing about the MCYT community is that the community leans so heavily on art. Not only defending their favourite CC’s but also defending artist since 80% of the art is what makes the fandom so active. And when you have Butch Hartman, a man who is known for taking people’s art trying to join a community who is known for having thousands of works every day, it’s not gonna sit right.

To think he has so much trouble figuring people out that he has to make a blanket statement against all introverts is testimony to how asinine his worldview must be

It's funny he calls introverts "selfish" and "self-centered" when his reasoning is self-centered itself, we should essentially have to accomodate him and "other people" at large, because he feels uncomfortable with us not being talkative enough. Why should we renounce our own comfort to make others feel better though? Talking with strangers especially can feel very uncomfortable, it can even make some feel anxious or nervous. If I could choose to be more social, I would, but that's just not my nature and I would like people to respect that and not assume me being quiet is a personal insult or something.
As someone who is introverted, I don't want people to "read my mind", nor do I expect them to, quite the opposite in fact, the idea of someone reading my mind would be terrifying because I value my personal privacy and I don't need or want to voice my thoughts out loud, hence why I'm a quiet person (I do like writing paragraphs one in a while though, as you can see).
I think Butch Hartman should learn something from introverted people and shut tf up, you don't have to voice every single stupid thought you have in your head. He knew his opinion would sound bad, and still went ahead and said it, like a fool. As the saying says: "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt".

However, ignoring the fact I tend to unintentionally put on a mask and I’m not able to be myself - trust me, it was literally pointed out to me once by someone I was an acquaintance with. They saw a peak of my true self while I was singing and told me I put on a mask, which I wasn’t even aware of, so feeling like this mask is just what I’m like in social situations certainly says how normal this feels - I tend to get tired very quickly after doing something as minimal as hanging out with a friend beyond the small amount of socialising I tend to do at school. I always come home ready to pass out and need some time to myself. So asking me to push myself past my limits with the social capacity I have is like asking an extrovert to spend more time by themselves than they find bearable. Well that’s actually a lie but you still get what I mean. By the end, I’m exhausted and will probably spend the next week with zero social interaction if that’s what I need to recuperate.

I think it’s a matter of “love the art, hate the artist”. You can absolutely love a piece of work, and despise the person who made it! Believe me, there are far too many artists who’s work I love but are extremely problematic and just overall not great people

i agree with this, the dream one looked fine, wilbur and techno scared me, and tommy was just... special in the bad way. i know he was likely drawing tommy during his exile arc, but its still no. anything made by butch hartman is automatically bad, no matter how good it would be had it been made by anyone else
It looks sort of like the inking in an old comic book but without the bright colors. An older comic style poorly mixed with anime wrinkles? Maybe that's why it looks like zebra stripes.

I think one of the things that made him the most unwelcomed in the community was the ableism. A lot of people in the fandom, and some of the content creators, are neurodivergent (not that you need to be ND to see how disrespectful he is, but that just makes us more aware to things of that nature).

For the thing with tommy, he was drawing Tommy Innit's character during his "exile arc", however, it still isn't Tommy Innit, it's Timmy Ain't It. Also, yes, he very much un-Wilbur'd Wilbur Soot

He managed to get rid of almost everything that depicted Wilbur in the Dream SMP, the only exception being his trench coat and his interpretation of Wilbur’s front hair.
Altough I don't want to admit it, but as a fellow artist I can tell his drawing of Dream is actually very decent. He just needs to stop copying other people's work and degrading it
Also he needs to work on his reputation by being honest on what he did in the past and stop what he's doing currently

Outside of the ableism and such, a lot of the reasons the dsmp community hated his designs were because of how,,, off (?) they were? Because theres just something so uncanny about what parts of the designs he went with. Why did he give Wilbur two bandanas rather than a beanie? The world will never know.

@@peonylarkspur645 lmao what are you talking about? the colors are not the issue. oversaturated palettes can look good in the hand of a good artist lol. the man just can't draw properly half the time. I was actually shocked the anatomy looks right for dream. then he immediately drew techno and I remembered, yep he can't draw well. look at the legs (particularly the crotch and the foreshortening of the right leg (from the page) and tell me something just doesn't look off. also I think the shoulder with the hand holding the sword is off but I'm not sure. I'm still learning art. it just looks decent because he polished it up.
and also, it just does look better because even with these issues, he got more proper line-art and proportions in these fan arts than the commissions. it's clear he put more effort here which is sick for the prices of the commissions he asks for.
When this started people were already calling him out and some great memes came from it. He’s ableist as fuck so of course the dsmp fandom would hate him, on top of everything else he has done wrong i mean.
Butch’s commissions are more expensive than a year of Netflix.

I just can't get over the stuff he said about people with autism. I will never support people who label my disability as something that can be cured, and something that should be cured. Autism effects my personality, so when he said autism can be cured, it's like he's saying my personality just needs to disappear. Nothing he says or does from this point forward can earn my sympathy.

Yes, it means that we see the world in a different way which might make it hard to deal with sometimes, but that does not mean sometimes it's nice, that it's part of our personality and we can't get rid of it.

While I don’t have autism I just wanted to say that I’m sorry shitty people like him exist and think y’all need a cure when you don’t. I have quite a few mental disorders that cause me to think differently from most people (mostly dysmorphia, depression, anxiety, and ADHD among the most notable), but I found a partner who accepts me fully through the times I struggle. I hope the same for y’all, and I hope that we’ll move to be a more accepting society for mental wellness and disabilities to erase these stigmas.

when he drew other characters of the dream smp like Ranboo he didn't draw the actual way it looked and instead drew the actual guy playing the character. Ranboo's character is half endermen and half other and a lot of people in the fandom like to call it the gender man becuz of it's cunfusion in who it is.
people were cunfused on why butch drew Ranboo as a person instead of the way it was supposed to look and others said he was avioding the Lgbtq cummunity

Here's a few points that you've missed in the video
- He's apparently ableist and that obviously will not be welcomed in a mainly neurodivergent fandom
- A few people have pointed out that the design for Tommy was ripped from another artist. You can look up "Dream SMP Tommy" and you'll see Butch Hartman's drawing looks _suspiciously_ similar to one of the first results that pop up
- *His drawing of Ranboo.* For some reason he decided to draw the content creator Ranboo instead of his Dream SMP character??? And also he's supposed to be around the same age as Tommy but if you put them right next to each other one of them looks like a toddler while the other looks like he's thirty.
- His representation of the characters is VERY inaccurate (which isn't surprising because he's really only doing this for clout) and the fandom uses that as another reason to make fun of him
- This last point isn't THAT much of a problem but Butch Hartman took away their gender. *_TO EXPLAIN,_* a lot of people in the fandom experience gender envy towards content creators/their characters and SOMEHOW his drawings were able take away that appeal. that last bit made me realize why i hate his technoblade design. if you show me like a thousand fanart from the fandom, pig to human, i'd say they're all the same. they all share the vibe the character has no matter if it the version is gorey or fluffy. but looking at butch's monstrosity and comparing its vibe with the rest, it's very different. he looks like what an average citizen of Dream SMP, who hasnt met techno, would think what techno looks like.

2- People didn't like how some of the fanarts looked i believe, for example that Ranboo fanart was really hated by the community (The copypasta format from 2:08 was used a lot at the time hahah)

I'm gonna speak my mind here, feel free to ignore.
I grew up watching Fairly Odd Parents, Danny Phantom, TUFF Puppy, and Dexter's lab. I found out about his problematic self and views and just stopped caring for what he did. I'm an overthinking introvert who has trouble with understanding social cues and hesitates to ask for help. I stop myself from commenting or replying because "What if they take it the wrong way. What if they yell at me. What if they think I'm selfish. What if-". As a person, I don't like him.
I am a self-taught artist. I have no intention of pursuing a professional school for it. His art is ok, but the important things to note are his anatomy and inability to capture any character that isn't his own. if you didn't tell me that the one was Wilbur, I wouldn't have guessed who it was. Dream's anatomy was that of a smear frame. And the only times I've seen him make the character look like their source, it turns out that he traced/copied the work of another. In a community where a big force behind it is fanmade works, like fan-art, that ain't gonna fly. I can forgive his style but it is a bit too sloppy for someone of his experience and expertise. As an artist, I don't like him.
I watch the members of the DSMP, other MCYTs, and other streamers. I find them funny and a place to go when I feel sad or upset. The only reason he did this, was to use them for clout. Not uncommon, but if you're supposedly a "big-time cartoonist/artist", who worked on a lot of popular shows you shouldn't even need to do this... again I bring in his inability to capture the essence of what makes the character who it is. His inability to do this is why his "original" art looks, odd... The characters look like cheap knock-offs of themselves. He drew C!Will, C!Dream, C!Tommy, and C!Techno, but then draws CC!Ranboo. Mind you CC!Ranboo has more humanity and humbleness in his pinky toenail than Hartman has in his whole body. I don't want someone who doesn't care, making content for this community. We already have a bad name because of the morons who take things too far, we don't need the likes of Hartman putting even more of a stain on us. As a fan of MCYT+variety streamers, I don't like him.

The reason why people in the comment section are saying it doesn’t look like Wilbur is because the design to his character is completely different in butchs drawing then it is to wilburs cannon character. As for Tommy, in the DreamSMP Tommy is shown as a depressed character who is often manipulated. So the facial expression makes sense. I just think that his design (like wilburs) doesn’t match his cannon character. Basically the only thing bucth got right is the sword, compass & facial bandages

12:14 invalid argument, if you're an experienced artist (cartoon artist) you should be able to cartoonize a character so that people can still tell who the character is, the character got to have key features, (with wilbur it's his dark brown and wavy/almost curly hair, which is short in the back and longer in the front, almost covering his eyes, but keeping to one side), one of his outfits (be it l'manburg outfit or his brown coat which he sports later in the dream smp lore) etc.
13:03 doesn't look like tommy, but he got some items there that the CHARACTER tommy would be carrying at some point in the story. (This is not me defending Butch but he did say he was drawing the CHARACTERS of dream smp, and not the people playing the characters, the characters often look like the person who plays them but the personality and outfit is rarely the same, except for tommy's character lol)

The dream smp/ MCYT community is honestly one of best community I've ever been apart of, sure there's shitty people it's really to be expected with a community so large and there are people who take it to far ( that also goes for people who hate and attack people in the community who haven't done anything wrong other then liking a block game an enjoying watching people play it) and the art is really the glue that holds it all together, weather it be the animatics, the songs, or just the cool art pieces and interesting theories, And people are not afraid to call artist's out for doing bad things which is why butch, someone known for stealing and tracing art ( aswell as saying terrible things about introverted, depressed and autistic people which good part of the community is) its really no wonder why people aren't stoked about him peaking his head in to what many people considered a safe space,

But then people do shit like; using ranboos face after the eye reveal as a pfp (they were told not to by multiple people,then called us kids because we defended someone and TRYING TO HELP THEM) make dream stan vidoes (they make satire videos,like “running away from home because my mom is dreamphobic” And these commentary channels KNOW these are satire,but milk content anyways and make it seem like this is real stan behaviour).
