I saw a comment on this show that said something like:
"These are literally stereotypes of a bunch of ethnicities/nationality/skin colors".
Velma is the overly smart Indian
Daphne is a hot asian
Shaggy is a black stoner
Fred is a white man with all the stereotypes that come with that
No Scooby-Doo = it isn't the Scooby-Doo gang
I can't unsee it...
damn.. that hit hard wtf
Mindy Kaling is saying she wants representation, but proceeds to make racist stereotypes instead.
I respected her more when she was Kelly Kapoor and Disgust.
Exactly this! This isn't diversity or representation, this is someone checking boxes without even paying attention.
Or it was intentional that they're all horrible stereotypes. The former is more likely, I think.
Well, you can't raceswap Fred, like he is always written as the most stereotypical white guy ever, if you change that, you would need to change so much

Love the fact that the artist said, "you forgot to remove Scoby". shows that he is mature enough to not lash out and not comment further.
Right? Definitely the best way they could’ve handled it
Ikr I was thinking the exact same thing
seems like pretty chill dude too
scoby
If I was an artist I wouldn't have been as mature and instead fixed their profile picture to be a clown.
"you forgot to remove scooby" is the best response the artist could have done. amazing.
i like when people play along with trolls
honestly, if they wanted representation, they missed the chance to make scooby a service dog 😔
honestly i woulda loved that
ong😭😭😭
I'm showing this comment to all my artist friends this is such a solid idea
Shaggy probably has fucking diabetes eating like be does, so Scooby as a service dog makes a lot of sense.
Especially considering Norville is supposedly struggling with anxiety later on in the series, or maybe Velma's panic attacks from the start. I've heard there were liscencing issues with Scooby, but they could probably just give him a different name and design like they did with every other character
Not only did they make them all stereotypes.. they also made Velma a Karen? Telling someone on tech support to die… Velma wouldn’t do that :(
She wouldn’t do that. They just made her woke - she’s not our Velma.
Bruh, the OG Velma would probably beat the sh#t out of the karen Velma for being mean lol
That's not the real velma that I know
@@Just_a_beaner60 Ngl I wouldnMt even consider that “woke,” that’s just being a dickhead.
Nah bro they did velma wrong
Remember the entire controversy when soul from Disney came out and almost the entire cast was black? Exactly, you don't, because THEY WERE ORIGINAL CHARACTERS!
Hey that’s a good point
Exactly
Fr man
And actually well written
and Black Panther is one of the most popular Marvel movies and the casts are 100% black people
HBO said "OH You're coloured and/or queer? Well you'll love this!" And I can't get over that. It makes me feel like they think their audience is stupid. We're hurting ourselves and our communities by giving this sort of issue so much attention. I appreciate seeing someone bring up the points that artists are suffering on.
To be fair, a lot of the time people eat this stuff up.
They see poc and members of lgbtq+ community as another dollar. Very upset how they think "oh you are from that community? Well youll definitely love this." as a way to grab cash. And then proceeds to protray every single stereotype and ironically comes off as offensive.
Why are we grouped out from the white and heterosexuals? I'm straight and black and I don't see why they're doing that 🤦🏿♀️
Most of the gay representation is either stereotypical or characters had their sexualities changed so they can be gay.
An example of decent representation is Dorian, Iron Bull, and Sera from DA;I. Their sexualities aren’t their entire personalities, they actually have flaws, and they are major parts in the storyline.
Velma originally was meant to be gay in the movies but the studio then pushed for her not to be, then she ended up having a straight love interest
the worst part about the "fix" was that the "fixer" added their watermark onto it 💀💀
Would that count as art theft?

Imagine if Leonardo da Vinci made the Mona Lisa nowadays, he would post his painting and 10 minutes later someone would post "fixed your shit" and Mona lise would be a stereotypical black maid that you'd see in a 80's cartoon
They didn't change Velma. They created an entire new character, threw her in a similar outfit, and named her Velma. I liked Velma. The only thing I know about this "Velma" is that she's not the Velma I liked as a kid. She's a straight up different character, entirely. If they put her in her own unique clothes, and gave her a unique name, I still wouldn't watch the show, but at least I wouldn't be vehemently against it. Hell, there's already black characters in the Scooby universe, like Cassidy Williams, who is also an awesome character. I would have loved to have seen a show starring her and the original Mystery Incorporated. So why not use her? The only racism I see here is that the studio obviously doesn't care enough about black people to create a new black character with their own backstory, personality, quirks, catch-phrase, objectives, motivations, and everything that goes along with it. They'd rather cut corners and change an existing character black. That's where the real racism lies, if you ask me.
She looks less like velma and more like a black meg
She’s not even a completely “original character”. She’s a self-insert of the show’s creator masquerading as a version of Velma Dinkley and throwing dirt on her name.
The original artist seems like such a chill dude, I am sorry this happened to them.
They had the absolute best response one could have on that hell site.
Probably some of the artists on Twitter that *actually* had a backbone to defend their art from being tarnished. Most of the time, lots of artists will just straight up delete their art even though they did nothing wrong.
This is racist towards white/light skinned pepole tho as they chaged a oc for no reason
Oh yeah Josh S26, I'm in love with his art, seems chill to me
I wish there will be a series of any sorts that introduced an African character but white because of albinism to troll those self-righteous ppl. If ppl outrage just said representation matters. Albino ppl need to be represented too.

Ikr and they can’t even do representation properly like they made daphne a snake like I’m sry but us East Asians don’t look like taht
Sadly most people in todays world don’t look at it this way.. companies think they can just replace everyone they want with a person of color and everyone will be excited.. sometimes it makes sense to change it.. but other times it’s completely insane… like Shaggy being black.. the only pot head is now black 🤦🏻♂️ even if he isn’t a pot head in this show Shaggy is known for smoking the green..
@@ming9935 as south east asia my eyes look like bored but not slanted
I’m middle eastern , and the “don’t forget that representation exists “ is such a dumb road to go down , a glass of water also exists but you’re not gonna see a glass of water everywhere cuz it exists , cuz when the “representation “ isn’t done naturally and is done with marketing and the Sake of “representation “ it really shows and feels cheap , it feels like a tool or another check box
I’m also Middle Eastern and couldn’t care less about representation
Omg yes!! I’m about as white as Christmas morning and seeing this kind of representation honestly feels more like publicity stunts rather than representation. There is literally no effort put into it, and they think we’re gonna go buck wild for this stuff because “HAHA the white character is now another ethnicity!”
Thinking about it, it’s actually pretty condescending.
I just love the pretentiousness of
“Fixed.”
It makes me giggle at the absolute lack of self awareness.
They never heard of 'why fix if it aint broke'
The one they should be fixing is themselves 😂
Gotta love how when they fixed Daphne, they made her eyes smaller because "she's meant to be Asian since she knows martial arts" and like her whole ass expression changed from shock to disgust
It went from "Oh no, a ghost!" to "Ew yuck wtf it's a hobo 😒"
"Daaayum guys, that's a mfing ghost right there!"
*pulls off shoe* "ghost? Why you ghost? You failed life! You are dishonorable to house you haunt!"
"..."
"Why you standing there? Why you no doctor yet?"
*ghost tries to lift knife*
"I will send you to Jesus"
*ghost tries to throw knife. Gets hit by shoe*
they also made her skin yellow
THEY MADE DAPHNE YELLOW THIS IS THE FUNNIEST DETAIL HERE OUT OF ALL OF THEM
damn she looks yellow too
I thought "representation" meant creating original characters with the traits of a particular demographic and their own personality, NOT literally copying someone's work, changing the ethnicity, and turning them into a negative stereotype.
Literally they are giving us a bad name making people think everything gotta be about something to stay “woke”
Yeah. Like the Mystery Incorporated series had a previous mystery gang that had a black woman who appeared regurlarly and was a really cool character.

Bruh what really pisses me off about this is that the person who "fixed" this art isn't very bad at drawing, they could've made their own picture and left it at that, but no they had to use someone else's art to push their agenda, which is kinda what Velma did if ya think about it.
"Ironic." - Chancellor Palpatine
Bros never heard of tracing I guess.
As much as there are art fixers forcing representation on Twitter, for instagram I have noticed it is almost the complete opposite. I follow an account that recolored the equestria girls to reimagine them in natural human skin shades. They made Pinkie Pie POC and the entire comments were going on about "why do you have to give them a race, just leave the characters alone" but when they made Fluttershy white, not a single complaint. And on Twitter it is almost entirely the opposite.
Jesus
what makes this video even better is the fact that he is literally a POC reacting to/talking about the situation, and hes so disappointed in the people trying to show "representation" 💀
i hate twitter so much LMAO these art 'fixers' are one of the worst groups on there imo
Normal people of any ethnicity see all this crap as wrong. Don't let the loud morons fool you into thinking the whole world is crazy.
Nah any lvl of feminist is toxic.
Like the more you remind us of the divide between our TWO genders, the more present that divide will be, and those dense attention seekers can't get it thru their rainbow colored hair ❗❗❗
Twitter wants to "defend" people of color with no regard of what the people they're trying to defend want. They just want internet points
“Poc” is such a racist term and needs to stop being used
true true, massive hypocrites, they are everything they accuse others to be
Something that does concern me about all of this is that there are so many artists who like to redesign characters from established media, not in a malicious, "fixing" way, but out of pure love for for the characters and just want to do a fun interpretation of the characters in their style, or add things to them that they like or think would suit the character, and I hope that they dont' get any hate or get lumped in with these "art fixers" 😭😭
i think they are absolutely fine and valid. and ofcourse we can tell a redesign when we see one. the only problem i think is if the drawing some how lands on the timelines of these weirdos, then you know for sure they'll want to mis behave
Fortunately, for these people, it's pretty easy to tell the difference between someone racebending out of love and someone who's doing it because they thought it was "broken" and needed to be "fixed". Mostly because art fixers can't be subtle about their reasoning in the slightest, but also because those doing it because they love the show/comic/whatever are also gushing about how good they thought the original was.
@@LonelyAssassin96 not to mention that those who are racebending for their love usually thinks about the character first and how it'd work in the firstplace instaed of just changing the skin color and calling it a day
@@Vekcrazah exactly, I've seen some fanarts of racebending characters and then putting them in their cultural dress (Applicable to the artist) that suits the character, and those always seem so sweet and the artwork is often beautiful!
this is called fanart, so they're safe
Honestly, if we have someday a black Snow White, I expect two things:
1) We get something like what was done with The Princess and the Frog (a well adapted premise)
2) She being mexicana (mexican); we, in México, have a multiuse detergent called Blanca Nieves (Snow White) and its packaging picture is a cute black girl dresses like an angel washing clothes.
Was the princess and the Frog supposed to be a different Snow White story? I can't remember the original fairy tale.
@@growlie2676 nope, princess and the frog was based on the frog prince fairytale
I want tiana to be white because if we can make Ariel black then why not? But of course nooo that’s gonna be racist and disrespectful smh
Well, this comment is a surprise. Because we now have a POC Snow White with 7 (not) Dwarves. 🤷♀
I 100% agree, As a black girl I just wish they didn’t race swap and instead made a next gen of investigators kinda like with mystery incorporated, I don’t care about the whole lgbt stuff but with Race swapping I think it’s better to create new characters
A show (which is basically a scooby doo copy yet still very enjoyable) that could’ve done that if they wanted to is ”Clue Club”. Although the example I bring does not include any black characters, what matter is THEY WENT FOR DIFFERENT CHARACTERS.
@@barneyerror4561 that's sound like a fantastic idea but is sad it will never become a reality because of wokeness 😔
You’d think things would be better if they made new characters that were POC but you know these art fixers would have a problem with that too.
sighhhh!! ong
Yeah, exactly!
As an aspiring character designer for videogames: Exactly this! These art fixers are a bunch of lazy asses, no ifs or buts about it. Can't be arsed to make their own fanart, can't be arsed to draw something themselves... But STILL are vocal enough to talk about a subject that they CLEARLY know jack shit about. To me, a good character is relatable first and foremost, regardless of their skin tone, and regardless of whether they're LGBTQIA+ or not. All of that comes AFTER you decide who your character is. I mean, look at Amity and Luz from the Owl House: Now THAT'S how good representation is done. They're both people first, and have a marginalized part of their identity second. I'm demisexual and heteroromantic, so potentially as straight as a freeway. And pretty darned white. But I still relate to those two nerds regardless of that, and am still rooting for them to succeed in stopping Belos.
Also, no spoilers, please: season 3 hasn't released yet in my country. I'm hyped for it, though.
That's an interesting idea. Having a whole different gang solve mysteries while the main gang serves as role models for them
@@melaniescribbles Yeah. They don't care about anything but getting social media points. And they're psychopatic enough to do anything to get it, as long as it doesn't take actual work. That's why you see this constant stream of pretend anti-racist and anti-sexist but really racist and sexist hot takes of anything popular enough to generate clicks.
I don't like judging a series before it comes but that teaser was awful, not because Velma is indian in this series but because they turned her into an internet troll. Plus the fact that the crew took the "if you aren't excited for our show, then you're a bigot!" route doesn't help selling me this upcoming series(especially when the creator turned out to be a terf).
yea bad marketing only kills reception
Kinda reminds me about how Seth Rogen reacted to people not liking Santa Inc
sigh...they tried to play on the fact that they knew how the internet will react to it and that's honestly pissing me off
Omg fucking terfs
thats supposed to be indian representation? jinkies
Representation shouldn't be removing people with one race and replacing them with another. It should be adding more diverse characters to the story/ not replacing pre existing characters for clout.
This is why i don’t like changing characters skin colors, it brings representation to one point and makes producers look like they did that on purpose just to be controversial or make one group of people happy. Good representation is making good new characters or speaking more about old ones and their backgrounds rather than changing some big part of who they are

bro also the show sucks in general because velma personality is dog water
Something Twitter needs to understand about representation is how race has nothing to do with it. Im mixed but that dosent mean i love every poc character because their poc. I'll love a poc character because of their personality, their likes and dislikes, things i can understand or relate to. Never once have I liked a character because they were black and nothing more. I dont care if there is a show where every character is white, i dont care if theres a show where every character is poc or any race its the characters and how the show and actors represent them that matter, not their race, Poc or any other races should not be treated as a tool or as a excuse to do anything,
Honestly, I LOVE when a network/studio/etc does this: it IMMEDIATELY shows me their true intentions, so I know right away that I'll never have any interest in it and I can move on with my life.

I feel the same way about when people put pronouns, trans flag, Ukraine flag, #BLM, fist emojis, socialist rose etc. in their social media handles-it immediately clues me into the fact that they're unthinking Marxist dogs who only care about identity politics, so without so much as a second thought I can dismiss and avoid them entirely. They're like the monarch butterfly: Their brilliant colors and distinct patterns let every other creature know how toxic they are right off the bat.
This reminds me what Mike Tyson said about social media:
*"Social media made y'all way too comfortable with disrespecting people and not getting punched in the face for it"*
Diversity and representation do exist, but this ain't it. Violating one's artwork to promote a distorted agenda only makes the ones who did it into notorious douchebags.

9:08 THAT WAS LITERALLY ALMOST MY EXACT THOUGHT LMAO
These companies aren't anyone's friend and they don't actually care about any of the groups they're "appealing" towards, the only thing they _want_ is people's money.
If they wanted "representation" they could have made a story that added new characters to an ongoing plot. Like, the gang now have a business in busting mysteries and you have a set cast of supporting characters. Throw in a buncha memes and you're golden!
Kinda like Extreme Ghostbusters?
they kinda did this already and it was good, in mystery incorporated ( which is peak Scooby Doo imo) they added some characters that as far as i remember where never apart of anything beforehand and it actually worked because they brought new dynamics and their own personality to the show without removing or dumbing down any pre existing characters and overall made the show fell more unique and complex while also having these feeling of exploring the scooby doo world and expanding the overall lore. I can’t recommend mystery incorporated enough
i mean warner bros has done that for years like there's a different race in almost all their movies
yeah that sounds reasonable like straight up if they want diversity then add some new characters that make frequent appearances, not completely change some of the characters
Or They could bring back some of diverse and currently more obscure HB characters such as Dee Dee Skyes from Captain Cavenan and the Teen Angels... (never mind Dee Dee appeared in Scoob...)
Valerie from Josie and the Pussycats....
Nita from The New Shmoo...
or anybody from the Chan Clan (the Amazing Chan and the Chan Clan)
But... I guess brand recognition is more important here. 😑
The problem isn't the representation, the problem is that the producers are using the representation to manipulate people into paying for watching the show
The problem is western twitter always put race politics in everything.

Honestly they should have done a concept like gen 5 MLP. Like for example, make a generation of characters who look up to the old mystery gang and want to be the next best mystery gang, and also have their on backstory and personality traits. Not really it just comes of as dismissive from the "woke" point of view, people gonna have to come a little harder if you want to convince them folks.
At least in the 70’s, it was for sure. Showing folks from different walks of life, it made the show a bit more unique. The scoob gang were already sort of diverse in race, Velma was from germany, Daph from scotland if you looked into their history all around and shag and fred are from the US. Not only did they change their race in Velma, they completely destroyed their personalties that made them unique and will put together, I know Daphne was still a mix since she is a difficult character to keep in check but jesus man, and there is no scooby, it ain't scooby doo without the talking dog who is basically the gang's emotional support friend! BESIDES! You didn't have to change the MAIN people, just add other different races who are just as important or not, like mystery inc.
10:00 the one finger air quotes is crazy
You know what would have been a cool idea for a first season?
A Girl, who is naturally inquisitive but used to the humdrum of daily life, and her friends find themselves tangled up in a mystery. Fortunately for them, the Mystery Machine happens to be coming through town. As The Gang tackle the mystery, the Girl and her friends find themselves helping with solving this problem. It's a bit scary sometimes and the excitement is new, but there's something very appealing to it for the Girl and her friends. As they part ways after a long, harrowing adventure, the Girl feels a desire to tackle more problems like this building within her. Thus begins the adventure of a "new mystery gang".
Also the girl and her friends happen to be primarily POC.
And this is how you make a real diversity story. Not a hypocritical, stereotyped, hot mess.
Nonononononono what the actual fuck are you talking about?
Making new characters? Being original??? Tackling things from a different perspective????? What the actual fuck, that's disgusting, shame on you for suggesting something like that
Taking notes and nodding to the original without directly stealing the characters/keystones of the original. That's how you do it. 👏

@@Kuulpb definitely. We've already seen this be done in reverse with Mystery Incorporated, so it's been already shown that it could work, if done with respect. Heck, you could even switch the main gimmicks of the cast around, with the leader being an assertive mystery enthusiast and having the kid who doesn't talk much be a genius when comes to counter spook equipment, so instead of trapping them, they gradually increase their set of tools to include previous antagonist's tech, like having holographic walls to guide the villain out the front door and to the police as opposed to the intended escape route, or other similar stuff. Have the Shaggy figure be a culinary student who cooks stuff for the gang, but is also the person who drives, and handles the monetary logic, so the Quiet Fred and Super Chef Shaggy bounce off of each other as friendly rivals. Romance can be taken or left behind, as it doesn't necessarily need to be there, but could be used for drama later. So much can be done with the concept of a new generation inspired by the og group following in their footsteps with different strides.

Something I’ve always found especially shitty about “art fixers” is that mostly target Japanese artists. Almost all their work is shared on pixiv which has an option to automatically share to Twitter, trying to help with accessibility for its those in its user base who don’t speak English.
Along come the woke Wendy’s, changing art of mostly Japanese anime character, made by Japanese people, making their art “progressive” in ways that make it look more like caricatures, and patting themselves on the back with the knowledge that the artists they’re targeting may not even know what’s happened, let alone how to defend themselves.
It is, dare I say, kinda RACIST.
Not to mention the assumption that that anime art must be caucasian and not, yknow, japanese by default. It's really a rorschach test on what their idea of a 'default' character is.
i've been casually following "art fixes" stories from Clownfish TV for a while now, and most of them come from Western people "fixing" Japanses artists' work. I remember the Sailor moon one. that one pissed me off. I believe it was also with that particular story that Japan's twitter stepped in and made a post telling artists in japan not to engage in these people, don't message them/tweet them, block them and move on BECAUSE of how bad it got. Not a lot annoys me, but these art "fixes" always do.
Because these assholes know that Japanese artists usually wouldn't fight back and prefer staying quiet and privating their accounts/blocking until the antis leave. The last time I saw the same asshole crowds try to bully Korean and Chinese artists, they were speechless when these artists are unafraid to call out and throw insults back (the trolls in their countries are their own class of assholes tbh)
i post my arts on pixiv and i dont have twitter,,, which i am glad of… sorry if im have bad english im from asia
I love that most people don't care that he's black, they only care about his design. 'Cause Shaggy could be changed to any race as long as he's still a shaggy haired, loveable stoner with a dog named Scooby-Doo. Velma and Daphne are Asian but were allowed to keep their iconic designs. They chose to make the black man a stereotypical redraw with minimal care put into him.
they should change already designed character, just redesign for character development. This is just racist on both ends
fr!! i don't care about the race-swapping but the new design is atrocious. istg if instead they went for something more like 0:13 it would be much better

Okay but that first artists rendition of the shows shaggy is really good.
It keeps the major aspects of shaggys design, that being his shaggy hair and more circular facial features, whilst minutely changing it to represent. And its not even just a skin color changed version of shaggy, cause they changed his hairs texture.
Pretty good art, imo.
ye, ikr? That looks like shaggy. I csn see it.
My issue is I’ve seen amazing poc scooby doo fanart and it’s amazing because you can tell who the characters are and they keep the same names.
Also the creator saying “it’s just a show about a dog” to defend the show but then they cut scooby so no it’s not a show about a dog
They're saving that reveal for sweeps, and I'm calling it here and now:
The reason we haven't seen scooby yet is because they want to make it a surprise that their version of scoob has albinism.
And it's gonna blow everybody's mind, I just know it!
Legit, if none of the other Scooby-Doo characters are included, Especially not Scooby-Doo, then why even include Velma? Why not make an OC?
even if someone make good poc scooby doo fanart design, they are not scooby doo anymore, they are basically different people that has the same personality as scooby doo. At this point, just make an entire new character
@@ThatOneDoomerNeco changing the skin color of a character doesn’t make them an entirely new character? Changing the personality makes them a new character
@@theteenagemutantninjaturtl9037 it does. Because skin colour/ race is a part of character's identity and if you were to change that, you're changing the character as a whole. Yeah pretty sure that art was of the gang in Scooby Doo Mystery Incorporated, it’s obvious when you look at Daphne’s eyes (they are purple/pink) and see that Velma is wearing a bow. As these were two things that set Mystery Incorporated’s gang apart from the normal gang. Also Fred is questioning instead of being afraid, which Mystery Incorporated’s Fred was definitely kinda dumb. I understand though that this person who “fixed” the art might’ve not known about Mystery Incorporated. But why think it’s related to Velma when the creator literally says it’s not related?
I think one of the most insulting art “fixer” types are the ones who can’t even actually draw proper proportions and go around flaunting their art when the actual artist had expertly drawn characters. Like… A part of me wants to find the fixer’s post and reply with a tutorial on how to fix their friggin’ anatomy… if you’re gonna shame a real artist, at least learn how to properly draw correct proportions
I'm not even surprised for the fixing, but I'm pissed at the audacity of placing a watermark and sign in a drawing that they didn't even do from scratch.

People on twitter really just have main character syndrome where they think every drawing has to match the new series or latest series or somehow personally be meant to offend and upset them.
give it a little while and people will forget. They honestly only care for as long as it will live on twitter just like with lesbian velma
Also, Craig (the original creator of Fosters and PPG) mentioned in a tweet/screenshot that I saw wehre he pitched 16 original ideas to netflix and they didn't accept any of them but welcomed him back to do an existing IP. That really should be a look into the state of animation... Shareholders are only interested in milking an existing fanchise dry and inciting people to either argue back and forth to either hate watch or anti-hate watch.
atm they're going hardcore into nostalgia I noticed on these platforms. it fine if they do it with the right intentions but so many just.... fall flat. there are very few that have pulled it off successfully, such as Danger Mouse, Scooby doo (not extremely recently sadly, but their TV movies they've made over the years have been pretty decent in truth) the Miles Moralis Spiderman film and Thunderbirds where you can actually see the love for the original source material and the lengths they go to so they stay relatively the same ideas but with new fresher outlooks on everything.
it's just that not everything has to be revived and what does gets such a limited time to prove it's worth the effort gone into it or not.
If people don't watch it it's bad for them cause they get no money out of people, everyone should just stop watching these garbage shows.
They literally made Daphne's eyes smaller and her skin a sickly yellow💀

I think a better way to do it would've been to make a Scooby Doo spin off that's got the Hex Girls as the main protagonists, maybe the plot is that the actual mystery gang has been captured, so now for whatever reason a handful of their friends/associates have to step up to figure out what happened, and the Hex Girls just so happen to be the main characters because they're the most recognizable. But also A) goth girls are great B) Luna is already a POC C) it'd be super easy to have one of them be a lesbian, maybe even more than one. Especially if it's the Mystery Incorporated iterations of the girl group, since that's my personal favorite.
Edit: going with the idea that it's just "friends of the Scooby gang" in general, I also think it'd be neat if the Hex Girls acquired a fourth compadre for solving the mystery, specifically: John Cena, because he's canonically friends with the gang.
Yes, 100% to this!

Oh. If someone decided to “fix” my art like this I would be upset.
I would be understanding if a friend had asked and explicitly received permission to go over my art in a constructive manner. (There is a common practice where an artist will ask another for a “red line,” usually to help with anatomy.)
But this kind of… art defacing of a random stranger is just blatantly rude at best.
Also, it is incredibly immature and inconsiderate re-color or otherwise edit someone else’s work without their permission, post it on the same platform, and then passive-aggressively shame them for what the “did wrong” in your eyes.
Whenever I red line or help another artist it is within good practice and aligned with the concept of respect to do the following things:
1. Get permission and communicate what type of edit, and update my permission by asking if needed.
2. Understand that however I am attempting to help the artist I will need to have enough skill based off of my own personal EXPERIENCE to offer assistance.
3. Operate solely on a suggesting, not telling. I.e. “This is what I would do…” Let the other artist have full power in their creation like don’t hijack their piece from them.
Like I swear those three guidelines are the minimum.

@@dollfie774 Representation has always seemed pointless to me in general. As the video said, you should look further than skin deep. I was raised to see other people as people no matter what their ethnicity is. The constant obsession with skin color only makes me feel as though society as a whole is more racist than it used to be.
I think the best way to sum it up is with a quote from one of my favorite cartoonists when he was asked about representation: "My favorite video game is one where I play a monkey collecting bananas and fighting alligators. I couldn't care less how much a character looks like me as long as that character is fun."
Craig on the Creek is a great example of introducing diverse cast with new stories. Obviously it is not for everyone and is aimed for a younger audience but i adore the show.
Making original characters is always going to have the best impact because it allows us to tell more unique stories. Likely the show will not explore anything further with these characters beyond changing their outward appearance. I don't mind if they do it or not but it can't be a cop out for companies and prevent them from exploring new ideas
I heard of Craig on the Creek and the designs look adorable, but I'm not a fan of the newer shows for kids because they don't teach all the lessons and messages that the old kids shows taught (Like Angelina Ballerina and Peep and the big Wide World). I do love the designs tho
You know, its not the race or character redesigns that got my attention with the Velma trailer. Its the fact that its a series that's apparently taking itself seriously by having an actual murderer on the loose. Near the end, you mentioned Mexican Cinderella. Well guess what!
In 1997, Disney made a Cinderella movie featuring a black Cinderella, an Asian Prince, and a black Fairy Godmother. The music is beautiful, and you can clearly tell that these actors were chosen for their skills, not their race. The whole movie is absolutely enchanting, and actually feels like a fantasy movie (ignoring the terrible CGI). I will forever reccommend it to everyone I possibly can.
See they actually did that movie well though! I think the reason why people are upset with this new series is because the characters are now full of stereotypes :(
This is the only time when I think it's okay to change the race of a character. Some people are to good at there jobs.

That was stated as being a reimagining, which is a good thing for old stories yes. But then you have modern series with established characters as opposed to old fairy tales that need updating, these ones don’t need changing to the characters.
