I always found it incredibly weird that Zee's solution for fixing sexualized characters was making them plus-sized, darkening the skin tone, and making the bust smaller, as if all three of those qualities are inherently unattractive. I don't know, maybe it's just me.

@@heidiherndon3890 Theres multiple different reasons why people can be overweight, including medical reasons. For example, people could have thyroid problems and gain or lose a bunch of weight and not know their thyroid is the cause. You don't know them and you dont need to be an asshole.

As a black artist, fixing art is NEVER ok. Idk what goes through a person’s mind when taking someone else’s work and “fixing” it. Art is SUBJECTIVE. We can always use more representation in mainstream media, but NOT like this 😞
Exacly! one thing is to help people by telling them to do this and that blah blah, but it is disrespectful to take someone else’s art without permission and “fix” it and say that it needs “representation”, that makes the artist seemed bad.
It’s blatant racism. Most of the characters she "fixes" are white/Asian and have skinnier bodies, which are really common in European/Asian women. And she thinks for them to have any artistic value is to represent black woman features… absolute racism.

As an overweight person myself (heaviness tends to run in the family… for some reason), this isn’t what we look like. Zee’s art is on the line of being fat fetish art. I have the displeasure of having a Deviantart account and I’ve seen people’s fetishy art of plus size-people, so I can tell what’s realism and what’s NSFW when it comes to overweight characters.
One is meant to be accurate, the other is meant to be a way to indulge a paraphilia in a way that doesn’t harm people.

@@MohammedAgbadi Trolls goal is not only to get attention but to see how long their accounts last before ban. Some will make new ones like Zee did until loosing interest. There's a reason why you don't feed the troll.
I've seen similar stuff like that on Deviantart and by lurking, I was able to tell who is a troll and who's not. It also helps that some of my watchers are also trolls who gave me tips on how to avoid trolls. It was really helpful throughout the decade and avoid drama altogether.

I think mha, zees most “Fixed” fandom, takes place in Japan, where most people are lighter skinned and way skinnier/ smaller. That is just how those people look and yes, some people are overweight and more dark skinned(I’m a pretty dark skinned Japanese person) but if there’s an original design a group of people chose for a REALLY big anime, I don’t think that’s meant for “Fixing”

it's kind of ironic when Zee 'fixes" a female character and makes them chubbier Zee makes their breasts smaller. when boobs are mostly made of fat, so instead of keeping the breast size the same or even slightly bigger for the extra weight Zee makes them flatchested or gives them small breasts. they are all about fat positivity, and boobs are mostly made of fat yet shaming women for having breasts. I know they doesn't want to "sexualize" them but you can still draw a female character with breasts without making them sexualized
fat is usually never distributed evenly on the body. there are people with large breasts but an overall skinny body, or I ,for example, have very fat legs but my boobage isn't exactly proportional to that. I understand your point about desexualization, though, it does seem intentional.

I won't lie - zee was the reason I never participated in Deviantart's "Fix Mona Lisa" event. The whole "fix it" trend that was going on on Twitter was just something I never supported or felt comfortable with, cuz most of the users who participated seemed like karen/ken trolls who always seemed to love creating drama and whose art skill were below mediocre at best - the kind of people who for whatever reason would attack me and tell my that my art/ anatomy is bad, but yet think their work is gold. Those people are just weird and creepy to me.
You guys don’t get it, Zee actually fixed my home life with her drawings, solved homelessnesses ,brought my dad back, And brought about the unification of society!!!

As a plus size person, I don’t think “Zee” ever drew plus size bodies correctly. Plus size bodies vary absolutely from person to person, but the way they drew the bodies, they always looked solid and shapeless, almost like a brick wall or a potato (especially those Facebook ones, like what the hell).
I think this was a really good retrospective on the whole Zeefixesart situation and how they’ve somewhat returned, and as always I enjoyed this video and your take on things :) (also howl’s moving castle background music!! Very nice)

I would not be surprised. Zee's artstyle to me looks like a lazier version of Creeps.
If they needed weird coincidence, the last update from the Zee Facebook of its December 31, 2021 is the same day Creepshow did her last upload too.
I don’t think so tbh. I think the reason creepshow is the only artist who Zee went after is because that was the first time Zee got genuine backlash on a wide scale. They weren’t really well known before then, and the fact they “fixed” someone who was an actual person is what made any benefit of the doubt they might have had go straight out the window.
Honestly I think the fact Zee didn’t go after more artists kind of proves it wasn’t creepshow. If they WERE Creepshow, they would have gone farther and would have gone out of their way to harass artists by “fixing” their OC’s or self portraits. Creepshow is a known drama stirrer, if she were Zee that seems like a great way for her to target artists she doesn’t like to upset them, and then turn around and virtue signal for defending the targeted artist. And, at the risk of being mean, the commonalities in their art styles is likely just the fact they’re both just bad at drawing tbh.
“Fixing” characters is something I hate. You can have headcanons, and you can draw characters as other races if you want, but claiming it’s “fixing” the character is disrespectful. Seeing some of these Twitter users, I can’t tell if they were a troll or not.

Zee IS a troll. The only way you can view tweet drafts is if you're using the same device. If you hack someone, you won't be able to see the drafts. This is damning enough to me that the "hacker" is the same artist.

It’s Shannon no doubt. The art style is basically the same. I’m ashamed now that I’m older but I did the same thing as a pre teen/early teen with my friend group. I was embarrassed to admit the stories and pictures were mine so I pretended someone else drew them/made up the stories that went along with them. Mine was way more silly and didn’t have any racism/trolling online… but the concept is the exact same. I wanted my art to be taken seriously, but also wanted to have fun and come up with wild stuff/stupid art and pretend it was someone else. It’s sad Shannon actually took it so far and I hope she’s doing okay despite all of the horrible things she’s done.
I would have to check that and see. I have Twitter for both iPhone and iPad, and I wonder if the drafts I saved in iPhone are on ipad, or even my android phone I never use.

I remember in a drawing app had a community where ppl could post their art and art fixing was someone posting their art and asking people what they think they could do better and people would circle or red line what they thought they needed to work on (mostly like anatomy like fixing the position of arms legs ect). That's what art fixing should be, an artists asking other artists what they can go to make their art look better

Genuine question: What's wrong w/ using purple to shade? One of my characters needs purple for shading and golden for lighting and she looks really good with it, especially on the skin tone. I know using black to shade is a general no no unless it's on pure white, but still.
I'll be honest, this really does seem like something CreepshowArt would do. The way the eyes are done, the nose shading, and the lineweight... Once you start staring at it side by side, it has a bit too many qualities that are similar.
There's also the theory the hacker was Zee. Maybe all 3 were the same. Maybe we should compare the hacker's art with Creepshow's as well.

I am not sure about the CreepShowArt theory, but i am 100% percent sure that the “hacker” who hacked Zeena’s account is Zeena herself. The little details in the two art styles are giving it off
Which ones? Because as often as I looked at it and don’t seem to find anything. Because in the original version their lineart is shaky, messy , the shading is just thrown in every place and the faces of the characters look like something out of a wimpy kid book ( I thought the thing with creepshow art was HILARIOUS, because Zee told Shannon to fix the way she draws faces while theirs are just two dots and a long stripe) but the hacked account actually had some skill (tho I’m not sure because I don’t have twitter and i only saw the banner in yt videos)

My personal opinion is that Zee was a troll & was the “hacker” the whole time, and the Facebook account was an entirely separate person memeing them. The Facebook art just doesn’t look like it was done by the same person. I think the hacker probably wasn’t getting traction for their NSFW stuff alone, so they pulled this publicity stunt to bring more people to it. They were 100% a troll though- I’m willing to say that with complete certainty.
Looking at the Facebook and twitter arts as well, there's also different 'cheek blushes'. Twitter's shades the nose and uses the same shade to darken the cheeks. The facebook ones don't shade the nose and just put swirls on the cheeks. Twitter's also actually attempts shading, whereas there's no attempt in the facebook ones and is probably just a 'fill selection' job.
And no way would this surprise me if the one person in the same and the cherry on top would be creep show. If it is creep show I really just want a mental health study on this woman because that's a lot of effort and time on top of the other shit she was doing.

Another tip that Zee was fake because they only talked about fat phobia and nothing else. They only preach about fat phobia to such a degree that it feels disingenuous. But they never talk about their other identity ever. Which is weird because they where misgendered a lot but they don’t really speak up about that. I hate that everyone keeps reposting that one image of the "fixed" commissioned picture, like that was a real person right? How humiliating for them.
Anyway, your content is always so fascinating and grounding to me. Like a port in a storm.
Honestly, if Zee is a troll, then they did an amazing job, cause it highlighted how some artist feel the need to make the characters darker and fat for no reason other than to be "inclusive" and how some of them always frame criticism as attacks or bigotry.
Whether you see this attitude of altering a character as a problem or not, it's up to you, but you can't deny that it is something that happens frequently fandom spaces.
While I don't personally have anything to do with trans stuff and whatnot, there were some comments stating that it was rather suspicious that Zee never got pissed at people for using the wrong pronouns, given how big a deal people make about that on Twitter. Frankly, the fact that their religion and orientation would not only be contradictive but basically require mental gymnastics to even believe that they could coexist yourself, much less have others in those communities, which DO NOT get along, agree makes me believe that this is simply a troll.
No it does not, artists are allowed to project themselves onto their favorite character as long as its not done out of malice or bigotry-i draw my favorite characters as fat or brown because i love them and like to project myself onto them how is it any different then artists making random headcanons about them based on their own expirences?? @@Man-wolf- I have issue believing that gay or trans christians truly exist as well. Both Islam and Christianity are rules-oriented, with denominations that disagree on the specifics of those rules. I belong to a Christian denomination that considers homosexuality a sin. While I have heard of denominations that are okay with it, due to personal beliefs I have a difficult time agreeing with LGBTQ and Church being able to coexist without ignoring significant portions of both. Thus, why I stated that Islam, which is similar in structure, and LGBTQ would be able to coexist.

I truly think it’s Shannon. When I was younger I was too embarrassed to admit my drawings and stories were my idea so I would tell my friends someone else drew some of my art, but I also wanted to draw in front of them so I would tweak the art style just a bit. It reminds me sooo much of this situation and I would say with certainty it’s Creepshow.

New to the channel, and never heard of Zee before, but I respect you deeply for respecting how they express themselves while still critisizing them. Like, mad respect for this.
As I'm not a black person I can't say anything about them changing the race of a character but as a chubby person who experiences low self-esteem regarding my weight, I felt so bad for the people who sent their commission and saw them being "fixed". I would have felt so bad if this happened to me. I'm slightly chubby, and if I want an art to represent me I don't want to be "fixed". I don't want to be depicted as skinnier or chubbier in the name of "fixing" art.

Their depiction of Uraka even straight up ignored her backstory. Uraka grew up poor, and didn't have enough to eat alot of the time. If anything, wouldn't it make more sense for her to be underweight?

Art doesn't need to be fixed and shouldn't be encouraged, in my own opinion. I've said it before but the energy used towards "fixing art / characters" should be used towards original concepts or ideas. There's no harm in making something original instead of trying to "fix" something else.
I really like that you gendered them correctly while reading out loud the posts that misgendered them - even if a person is really bad, you should never misgender them!
I was looking for this comment. I'm also disappointed with the comments that are misgendering them. This person is awful but we should still use the pronouns they want used. Doing otherwise shows trans people that basic human decency for them is conditional.

Art “fixers” are just as annoying as folks who talk nonstop about being vegan and tryin to make others care so much about it. Aside from that, leave the original artwork alone. It doesn’t need “fixing” and it’s just an insult to the hard work the original artist made.
I remember when zee was a big trouble to the art community a few years ago but it also reminded me of a few other people who were also causing trouble on RUclips. Im a buddhist but i can totally see how you can be muslim and lgbt+ friendly if you are considering the historical context of certain verses.

@@laneylion well lesbian relationships are sexualized, especially since women were seen as inferior to men and mostly had to listen to men while they controlled what women could do, men saw it as a sexually attractive act in their eyes and let it pass sometimes. Also harems and such contributed to that.
But because men were seen as the ones on top, if a man was gay or in a gay relationship it was marked as a hard taboo. It's kinda like how it's worse to see a leader or king of some sort commit a crime like robbery compared to those below him because you wouldn't expect it from an authority figure.
So men find it hot to see lesbians, but disgusting if it was amongst other men. It's like the rules are more lenient with women and stern with men. It's also part of why women are more likely to explore femininity and masculinity, but men are very hesitant or even disgusted by the idea of exploring femininity. At least that's how I know if I explained it well.

I'm a bigger girl. I think chubby art is wonderful and so is thin art, and everything in-between. But not when it's "fixing" art. This artist bullied other artists and called them fatphobic. When I'm sure that wasn't true. They went WAY too far when they "fixed" a portrait of someone. A REAL person and claimed they fixed them. Like Jesus Christ. I don't think they deserved to get hacked and have nsfw art posted there, but it's good they were off the platform for some time.
I love (hate) how Zeefixes' "fix" was nearly always just:
- Make them plus size.
- Make their bust smaller if it was anything other than small already.
- Darken their skin tone.
It's not a fix if it's being treated like a universal solution, at that point it's essentially just body shaming, racism, and all around ignorance.
Just a pro-tip to artists, you're not making any group feel included when you "fix" a preexisting character by adding features of the group, especially when it's flanderized or a caricature. It's lazy and most people don't care. If you want to show support then make or present an OC, that shows you legitimately care since you put time and effort into designing a character.

4:53 is so upsetting because it implies that there's something "wrong" with the real life person the drawing is based on, as if it's wrong for her to look that way
It’s really hard to tell if Creepshow was also Zee, because it’s kinda suspicious how she was the only one being targeted, out of all the people that draw woman with fair/slightly tan skin, and skinnier/bulky, but not fat.
Also because there are people who were fans of creepshow before the whole situation of her between Emily, and there are a sometimes crazy fans who try to get attention from their favourite person. Plus some also could’ve liked her Art, and based part of their style on them.
I’ve personally done the same with some people, as I think their way of drawing muscles and other bulky looks on characters looks best to me, while trying to figure out my own way to draw other stuff, with the same sort of detail in mind for my own sort of style.
We can never know anything else, because said “hacker” didn’t do much anyway to reveal more about Zee, especially as there is a theory about the hacker and Zee being the same person, possibly trying to smear LGBTQ+ people, Muslims, and even fat people.
This will possibly be one of the internets biggest mysteries, as we don’t have access to anything to confirm if they are creepshow, or if Hacker person and Zee are the same. We’d possibly need the Twitter account, and see if the MAC address for the device they used was stored anywhere with the data gathered from using the account, along with Creepshows or hacker guys device MAC address.
Especially as the MAC address of any device CANNOT be changed, and stays the same no matter what. So…. We can only move on from this person.
