I’ve been using Dogwood Designs for 6 years. Not even a liner with the heavier ones. Just seal up the front end when it’s windy. People look at me like I’m crazy, but that just means they work! Good luck!!

Hand warmers sitting in your pogies work reasonably well: even better is to have them covering your wrist; warms up blood circulating through the radial artery into your hands. If I recall there is one guy in Atlantic Canada who makes ‘wrist bands’ for the purpose of securing the warmer against your wrist. DIYer’s could easily fabricate something similar.
David, thanks for chiming in :) ... and reiterating what I demo'd at 11:40 in the video (a warmer on my wrist) and mentioned at 11:50 - I'll often opt to slide hand warmers under my purple arm warmers and place them on my wrists or forearms. I also do this on my ankles, and go into more detail in my cold feet video: ruclips.net/video/ppNWd3eAmb4/видео.html -- I've never needed wristbands to secure them, but thanks for throwing it out there :) Ride on!!

Great tips! Also, toe warmers stuck to the back of your liner gloves (inside your over-mitts) are awesome. Additionally. I've used lightweight kayaking pogies attached to the ends of my aerobars with great success. That, or while bikepacking, hiding my hands behind my front bar-roll bag to get them out of the wind helps in a pinch. Keep up the good work!!

I also consider cream style antiperspirant (Carpe lotion) for hands and feet to prevent sweating which keeps hands/feet dry and keep my gloves and socks from getting wet and cold as fast. Gives me a level up in the time before i need to swap out my liner gloves.

I have put my wp over inside my insulating mitt. Light liner glove / liner / insulating mitt . This acts a a vapor barrier keeping my insulation free of moisture. Inside pogies in temps below -40 and all good . As well never be afraid of using chemical warmers a great tool .

I used some snowboarding gloves by LL Bean that had a small zippered pocket that I put Handwarmers in, and they worked fantastic down to single digits. I coupled those with older Lake winter boots that also worked fantastic. Now I live in Phoenix, which also works fantastic! Thanks!

Great video ! I commute and ride down to -15C in canada. I simply use my Fall cycling kit, and throw on top my rain pants, my ultralight puffy synthetic jacket, ski gloves, tuque, face mask, goggle, and switch my Merrel boots with flat pedals. Work great for trips up to 2h but no more. I'm considering buying those ski helmet with integrated sun visor and some pogies. Cheers
Sounds like your dialed, Sylv'ain... ski helmets rock, I use mine sometimes... once you go pogies, I doubt you'll go back to ski gloves :)! Ride on!

I use layers on the hands just like on the body. I cycle in Norway all season so I have an array of gloves. Today (-4C) I just put on my Hestra Wakayama’s. They are leather on the outside and wool liner on the inside. Above freezing I would use my Hestra cross country gloves with a Gore wind stopper membrane. At temperatures below-10C I would use those with a merino wool liner glove. Below that I use neoprene pogies (spelling?) and liner or cross country gloves. I ride a gravel bike. So fingers are important for me. I tried lobster gloves but had problems shifting.
I think covering the leavers with something sounds like a good idea. I will try to find solution and test it out. Thanks!

Great tips! I tend to go with the thin Bar Mitts, that way I'm still forced to wear some type of glove underneath for when I pull my hand out. The big monster pogies make my hands warm enough that I want to take off the gloves, but then I suffer every time I need to take them out to do something.

Some good tips there Alan. I'm a Reynauds sufferer and found wrapping my brake levers with insulation tape works really well. I tried the lobster claw mitts but didn't get on with them. The best I've found so far are the Galibier Deep Winter gloves. I also carry the charcoal sachets just in case.

i like thin merino gloves, light mits and overmits. i can only keep my fingers warm with mittens. bad circulation i guess. the merino gloves breathe, theyre great

For some people watching this video, 50F is cold... others are prepping for the Iditarod Trail Race w/ -20F to -40F, bikepacking/camping for multiple days, etc - cold is relative and I wanted to cover everything as best I could... that said, I have everything available to me, but I only take what is appropriate depending on the ride/adventure at hand. You're right, if I carried every piece of gear I own and use, I'd need to hire a porter :). Ride on!

@@DirtyTeethMTB thankfully it doesn't get too cold in the UK. I bought some larger gloves to wear liners underneath but most of the time I don't need liners as the extra gaps in the larger gloves trap air anyway. If it gets really cold I'll try the hand warmers.

@@DirtyTeethMTB The thing I noticed is that when I am gripping the handlebars or stretching the fingers to operate the brake levers the fingers push against the inside of glove thus making it feel colder. When I stop I pull on the end of the fingers to increase the gap and it helps to get away from the cold.
