+MANTLE There was the occasional thing that made the city feel alive like a car accident or an argument, and the random street crime but it didn't occur often enough and the random conversations you hear are generic and completely out of place. If they buff it up a bit it'll be great.

In a world of noticeably more advanced tech, where the ctOS creates an electronic infrastructure, and everyone and everything is under complete surveillance at all times, I can buy that grenades are produced with chips in them for the purpose of containing serial data, keeping track of, or bench testing.

Bought the game on release and completed almost 100% of it. The only thing I havent done, are the sightseeing locations. The game has never disappointed me and I can't see any reason why it should. The graphics were toned down, but on PC they are still way better than GTAV on console. Also the city has an extremely high amount of details.
The story had great characters, I like Aiden a lot since he seems to also have a good side and wants to protect his family. Jordi is great and T-Bone is even more awesome aswell as the other characters. They all have a deep personality.
Thanks to multiplayer and the online hacking, I had some of the most hilarious and intense multiplayer moments since years. Nothing beats the thrill when another player is searching for you and you must react within seconds so he can't target you (blackout and run away when he takes out his weapon...so freakin awesome)
The missions were repetitive though and mostly the same as the side missions, but I loved hacking stuff and play with the guards. If you plan your attack carefully, then you can distract enemies in the right moment so you can take out all guards at once, I fukin loved that.
See? In my opinion this game should get an 8 since I had a great time with it and I'm not the only one since this game has sold very well.

4killerCurtis I used to upload HD and uncut versions of videos. Like NIN's "Closer". I edited it to fit the full song and upscaled to 1080p. It used to be the #1 NIN video for "Closer" until UMG slapped me with a copyright. I used to have over 30 videos for various bands like Tool, Perfect Circle, Opeth etc. I got hit with two copyright strikes and deleted all my videos.

delreth52 atleast Assassin's Creed kept there promises where were the E3 2012 graphics that were promised? Why are the physics engines better on a last gen game like GTA V and not here? Why are there so many mini games in it trying so hard to be Saints Row? Also everyone making fun of AC watch dogs is using similar gameplay mechanics from Assassin's Creed like signal towers used to unlock more of the map like view points in Assassin's Creed, and Restricted areas. And dont tell me its "improved" from the AC games its not it works exactly the same

I hate how Ubisoft is literally admitting to making their games graphics worse because consoles can't handle it. If everyone was on PC we would be so far ahead in graphics and things such as VR but we aren't because we have to lower everything.
Some people can't afford to spend money on the next graphics card or other software required to play some of the newer games and console already come with everything needed to play newer games without spending massive amounts of money trying to make it better.
As more and more people come to PC the price of hardware goes down, since they are selling more

You know most of us console gamers cant afford a good gaming PC. I hate PC gamers who complain so much that if you dont play games on PC you are automatically not a real gamer. Consoles have better controllers anyways and are relatively cheap compared top notch gaming computers. Think about that next time you post stuff like that

Joe tends to be hit and miss for me, but when he hits, he tends to knock it out of the park. Didn't care for a few points he made in the top gaming controversies of 2013 or seeing him play Smite with.....that guy. However, his movie reviews and his non-reviews are still very enjoyable. Vlogs, streaming gameplay, all that stuff. I say let the fool do what I would do if I had the tech and ability to make these videos; whatever the hell he wants. I don't like the idea of putting a shotgun to his back and saying "REVIEW THIS FOR ME NOW"!

I enjoyed this game. I just was so disappointed by the side missions, like when you were trying to catch the serial killer or the human trafficking. From the trailer I was sooo excited when I was going after human trafficking quest but returned utterly disappointed. I also expected the serial killer to be a formidable challenge, but the last mission in that quest was a *SPOILER ALERT*

The world is dynamic and interesting. Hacking is really fun when you can apply it to firefights, chases and stealth surgical strikes. It's even more fun at night-time when you bring blackout to the entire city and can move like a ninja or disappear like one. Action-wise this game is awesome. Story-wise, not so much.
Sidestories get really repetitive and you get really easily bored with minigames or challanges. Eventually the only reason I did them was to max out Aiden. Yes, there is a skill tree. Aiden as a protagonist is not that interesting. I found out his past to be more interesting than the present. The main story turned out to be anti-climatic towards the end.
Overall the game was a disappointment to me, but I had fun exploring and doing as much destruction in missions as possible.

I wish people would quit saying the company over hypes their games, the consumers do that. A company has a job to promotoe their product, whatever grandiose notions people get about games are on them.

It's the job of ANY marketing team to generate interest (hype) for their respective product they are marketing....
We as in the consumers need said marketing to help us identify, or in the case of watch dogs get mislead by said HYPE!

This is one of the downsides to the internet and having very vocal people on it. You're going to get a bunch of people who start clamoring about something that is legitimately exciting but it ends up getting blown out of proportion because of rumors and speculation (some with no basis whatsoever). You have those really hardcore types who get easily excited about the littlest things and they stick to it like superglue. The "Dis game iz teh bestest! Ur al h8rs!1!!1!" crowd don't help matters since they're the most vocal about games.
It's kind of like that game "telephone" where you pass a message down repeatedly and eventually the message isn't anything like what it originally was.
He's not talking shit about 'hyping' a game, he's talking shit about 'over-hyping' a game, expectations play an important role in enjoyment.
I love how Aiden blames just about everyone else for Lena's death, if he didn't rob the Merlot, he wouldn't have had a hit put out on him

Well the first Assassins Creed was incredible repetitive... You only had 6 missions and you gotta do them on every city you go. There were like 1 or 2 extra missions on one or another city that were different
But in the sequel (AC2) the game changed the hole thing and you can do pretty much whatever you want and you have some missions only for a city, and others similar yet not the same
The series just needed to get it's footing to get going. What the protagonist will be in the next one is anyone's guess. Aidan again? If they can get more depth out of him now that his family's out of the picture and portray him as the badass that he was in the Exposed Trailer then I'd be fine with that.
Yeah... also, not many people liked Altair. AC1 was also heavily hyped. I've seen countless bits of evidence that suggests that Watch Dogs 1 = Assassin's Creed 1. I've played both AC1 and Watch_Dogs, and I have to say, I kind of like Watch Dogs better.
DaTechnoDood LevelX I liked Watch Dogs far more than AC1. In my opinion, WD has a great chance to be a great new IP for Ubisoft to run by when AC eventually runs out of gas. (Hearing all the stuff about Unity makes me feel that day might be soon.)

Watch Dogs 2 story is literally about a bunch of hackers who start off as mischievous pranksters but they work their way up into exposing corruption in the system and as they progress they gain more and more followers which allows them to expose the head corporation Blume, Marcus is young hacker who falsely accused of a high tech burglary by the Ctos, which leads him to work with Dedsec into exposing corrupt Government officials. And the story legit has some dark and emotional like Horatio's death or wrenches unmasking. You need to pay more close attention to the story.
Ubisoft said they won't make any games they can't make a franchise of a.k.a. milk em.Which means this game was doomed from the beginning by Ubisoft's greed and over milking all of their games.

I will say I loved the hideouts they gave Aiden, they were super original. For some reason I wish more games had them. I like being able to retire to a secretive place that is all mine, with that homey-high tech feel.

Watch Dogs is actually an awesome game in my opinion.. I don't see why it gets so much hate, sure it didn't live up to the E3 presentation, but so don't a lot of other games. I had alot more fun playing it than I had playing GTA V.

7/10 sounds about right. Flawed by very enjoyable games. Also Joe I think you should have addressed that the A.I is pretty decent. Sure they're dumb but they don't have Stormtropper esque aiming like in most open world games and can actually shoot at you through car windows and such.
Watch Dogs 2 should take place in Tokyo Japan to be honest. It would be great fun to use the smartphone to hack store television screens to show hentai anime and see people react in disgust. to create your own anime style avatar for the digital trips and to have a pacific rim style minigame where you create your own Gundam to fight... GODZILLA! (or even an Attack on Titan minigame). Tokyo hasn't really been done before in open world games (Zakuza doesn't count since that's a Japanese made game) so I'd like to see an American company tackle it right cause the hacking technology has potential with a setting such as that.

Why the heck do people think I want hentai in this sequel? I said its an idea, but it doesn't mean I really want it to get implemented I just thought it would be pretty funny like with all the memes on the billboards. I agree, I'm glad I had gamefly, if I paid 60 for this shit i'd be sending a lot of angry messages to Ubisoft. The honest truth is the game isn't very fun, the main character and story and horrific and the online is plagued and i mean PLAGUED with bugs to the point it's so slow, laggy, glitchy and not very fun even if they fixed these issues. Plus they postponed it to make us think it was gonna be even better, but it's clear no care or time went into ti whatever, also convenient they postponed it the same time GTA V hit the stores.

You didn't even mention how utterly SHIT the driving mechanics are. You bounce off things when you crash and sometimes sustain physical damage and sometimes don't, the steering is far too sensitive alot of the time and for a game that you do alot of driving in, it's a mechanic that should have better designed and executed.
That's up to opinion, I liked it.

The way I look at it, Aiden is a blank character because he doesn't want to develop a huge bond with anyone else so he doesn't have to experience the sadness he did with Lena (his niece).
You can't really have a blank character as a main character, though. There's a lot of MC where death and vengeance is given, but never as boring as Aiden.
Alexis Fule That's not entirely true. I personally found Adam Jensen blank and I thought he was a pretty cool guy. Some characters can be interesting for things other than personality. That includes Aiden. He's interesting because of his abilities, not his personality.
I like that, I don't think that's what was intended but it works and makes sense with the character.

The only saving grace of Aiden is that you can project your own characteristics on to him. Assuming your imagination can pick up the slack.
There is a file that you can activate that enhances the Graphics, look for some guides that can help you. If you don't want to mess up your game, just look for a mod, I think there is one.

I still remember the hype leading up to this release people thought this game was going to change the world and it fell flat. Then we got no mans sky, fallout 76, anthem and all these other failed overhyped releases

I have to say, if there is going to be a squeal; which there is going to be (probably), then the City should be Boston, Philadelphia, Washington D.C., or Seattle. Reason for me is: they are 4 really well known cities in our country you don't really see any of them (or Chicago for that matter) in video games that much; set in the modern age). In some aspects, yes, but in most, no.
As someone who played DXHR, the map of Detroit was very small, so with the size considerations, they had no way to properly capture all of Detroit. While they are gangs, hobos, hookers, and other fodder, that is just a small aspect of it. If it were a full game of just detroit, then they could expand it to encompass all of its environments. There are some shitty slums, Highland Park is a trashfilled shithole, and there are some areas thay I would not go to after dark. But at the same time, there are parts of the city that you can find in almost any other city. The theatre, waterfront, the GM building, Comerica Park, Joe Louis Arena, the people mover (Detroit doesnt have a subway like Chicago) and etc. hell, outside the city there are quite a few white neighborhoods, Dearborn is the largest muslim population outside the middle east, and Bloomfield Hills has some amazing mansions in it.

Looks like Watch Dogs was released too soon. Seriously, look at the comparison to the E3 version, if this game had more time, the game would've been better. I expected Watch Dogs to look average on the 360 & PS3, but the PS4 & X1, inexcusable. Then again, the X1 still has resolution issues, I wouldn't be surprised if that's the reason why the graphics had a downgrade, maybe they couldn't delay the X1 version, it had to be released for both consoles at the same time. I bet if Watch Dog was never released for the 360 & PS3, the graphics would've been better despite the X1's resolution issue. *Update:* I checked, Ubisoft pretty much over-estimated the 8th Gen Consoles. Watch Dogs was in development since 2009, they thought the 8th Gen consoles could handle those E3 2012 graphics, sure the PC can handle it, but once the consoles came out, they found out they couldn't handle it, which explains why the game had to be delayed and why the graphics needed to be downgraded. I'm not mad at Ubisoft for this(any developer can make that kind of mistake), at least the PC users can get those E3 2012 graphics on Watch Dogs thanks to a mod, sure, its just for the PC, but that's better than nothing.
I'll still get Watch Dogs despite its flaws, at least it doesn't suck like Saints Row 4(speaking if which, Ubisoft, *never* take notes from Saints Row 3 & 4). Not being able to punch a random person on the street, that's inexcusable too, Assassin's Creed has that issue too. The Cop chases, I'm ok with being able to get away from the cops by driving a boat, if the cops are just as over-aggressive & gets you when you do very little things like in GTA V, getting away by driving a boat is better than nothing.
The hacking puzzles, as long as they're not as bad as the Abstergo puzzles in Assassin's Creed IV, I'm all for it.
The radio music, seriously, what's going on, first Rockstar screwed up in GTA, then Volition screwed up in Saint's Row 3 & 4, now Ubisoft screwed up the radio music.
Oh and Uplay, again, unfortunate for PC users. I don't see the point of forcing it on PC Users when the only thing Uplay does, is allow us to unlock extra content for Ubisoft games.
I still think that what we saw at E3 was bullshots, that E3 gameplay was way too organic compared to the actual gameplay in the end
whats funny is the game wasn't even suppose to release yet I don't remember clearly but ubisoft had the game planned and released around mid-November but Ubisoft themselves had claimed that the game was ready for release so to say best your right the game would have been better if they had took there time to look into things but I guess they needed that extra cash fast.

JoeA024 Not to be, "that guy" but the whole Animus technology in AC... is hacking into a person's DNA to find the ancestral memories. And in AC2, remember those codes that subject 17 left in the game for you to find and decode? Those were hacks too. There is alot of hacking in AC. But I agree, this game isn't a clone of anything.
And not to further be "that guy who- heaven fuckin' forbid- has an opinion", I'm not a lone member of the dissatisfaction brigade. I'm just happy that I didn't buy a new generation console in order to play this AAA pretender and instead, rented it. Others aren't so happy with their purchase and now are looking for the best trade-in values.
