No cos they'd have to spend too much, the graphics wouldn't have been as good, it would have been a compromise. So while people say if it had these graphics and the gameplay it would've been good, there was no way both could be implemented due to budget limitations and deadlines...

Imagine you have to walk through the streets of London, gathering evidence, fighting mythical monsters, investigating murder scenes. And you have an airship what serve as a moving HQ so there are other Sherlockian scene in the game all over the British countryside.

Cannot speak for Fallout 4, but it's been so long since the last Half Life that nobody is hyped for it. It pretty much has to be balls amazing and frankly I don't think they have the talent. Even if it is Valve.

This game never looked promising, at all. I thought it was pretty self-evident from the QTE-drenched E3 demo and gameplay trailers that this game would turn out to be a dull Gears of War knock off.
I honestly hope there will actually BE a sequel.

"Looks better than 90% of computer games I've played." That's because most pc titles (Not including shitty triple a cross platform titles) focus on story and gameplay elements rather than blowing their whole budget making an interactive movie that turns out to be a teaser.

You know what'd actually work? If this was a horror game. Taking place mainly in the streets of London at night or in dark buildings/mansions. Basically just having you go to these places to take out the werewolves, you know the Order's JOB. And making it a horror game could've excused it for being linear and short.

PrimeJackup24 IKR. The universe and atmosphere is so so great. I was hoping they would explore more of the creepy werewolf transformation kinda stuff.
Or if it was an investigative sort of game where you're putting together evidence from various incidents that occur on full moons in order to find the werewolves and murder them. That would have been interesting and it would have given you a reason to walk around and look at shit in the environment which they clearly wanted to show off.

If you're referring to The Wolf Among Us, it either a) might lead into a second season, or b) was supposed to lead into the graphic novels. After all, the game's set thirty years prior to the graphic novels and the return of The Adversary.

@@jullianalexander1666 Bloodborne is a damn good game because it isn't based on anything else but skill and learning. It's not just a generic shooting game, it involves learning how to fight specific enemies and how to evade the environment that is even a danger for you. The developers even go as far as trolling you, but allow players to place warning notes around for new coming players or returning players that forgot how everything works. There is lore that is interesting to work with and enemies that give you reason to fear about.
The Order does not do that. It's an unfortunate linear mess that promise details, but no substance. I collected all the items in the game and they do not even hold anything interesting for lore. The documents/papers are unreadable and hold no point. The audio cylinders are USELESS bogus! One of the cylinders is about shipping crates in ships and that's it, nothing else. Does it imply that they didn't check the cargo and just stamped it? They said some crates were considered unsafe and thus can't join the ship to the Americas, so what does that mean then? That they were okay with VAMPIRES travelling along, but not these unsafe cargo? In Bioshock, the audio tapes hold lore items and holds interesting things in them and the idea behind what made Rapture how it is and the floating city known as Columbia, and Horizon Zero Dawn brings in stories that can make you feel emotional for and allow you to see more of the world and on what happened to the technology peaked world before it collapsed itself.
But the Order doesn't even bother to bring you any of that. You can take those collectibles out in the Order and nothing would change on what the people understand of the lore. The ending of this game was complete and utter garbage. It was unexpected and I thought it would've cut through into a time skip before we actually go and defeat the main villain, a douchebag vampire.
The Lycans didn't even push fear into me in fighting. They were just annoying as fuck to kill in their generated areas of the game as they rush after you and you have to dodge, but before you can even shoot them down, they're already gone. It's even annoying when you have to go up to them when they're finally down to make a final kill on them.
Not to mention the cinema bars. When I'm going into a game with stealth mode, I'd like to be able to see what the hell is in my surroundings. The bars held no point or substance to my gameplay and instead made me feel like I rushed into playing without fixing my god damn screen adjustment for the game.
Sorry, I made this long as hell. This game pissed me off, especially hearing that people had to pay $60 in full price for it while the developer went silent and just called people "bullies" when they called them out on the bullshit that is this game, refusing to acknowledge the main issues with this game such as the length and the gameplay itself. I only paid $5 for this game and I still felt ripped off.

I can see the flaws, but in a weird way, I enjoy this game and would go out to defend it, I do hope they make a sequel and expand on it more, its a very good ip, just needs to be fleshed out.

All this attention to detail, but your character doesn't have a reflection in windows or mirrors lol. I know its something small to bitch about. But I love the little things in Video Games. The little touches to a game that give it detail and immersion. Especially when the developers put so much effort into making a game with great grahpics and high attention to detail already. Then leaving out something like that? It really triggers me..
You understand how mirrors work in games, right? Good luck trying to get a reflection to run smoothly on a game like this.
That’s why I love mgs series because it has plenty of stuff like that.

Total Biscuit did an interesting video, not too long ago, discussing game pre-orders. At one point in the video he touches upon how many of the people who pre-order a bad game feel the need to defend that game mercilessly. Even if it's terrible. Because pre-ordering a bad game would make them an idiot. Surely they aren't an idiot, yes? Therefore they must be correct about their game being good. Therefore they must defend it. Everyone else is wrong. Only they can be right, because they were smart and pre-ordered the game.
It's like some form of borderline batshit insanity. A psychological defense mechanism in which people can't come to terms with the fact they had the wool pulled over their eyes.

the only reason I bought crysis 2 and 3 was for the multiplayer. I had a lot of fun with both, but the campaigns were awful.

The reason Snake Eater's ending had meaning is because they spent the entire game building up the relationship between Snake and Boss, illustrating why it was heartwrenching for Snake that he had to kill her.

Sure, have the opinion. but don't state it as fact. Story is JUST as important to a game as gameplay for any number of reasons. Tell me, what is considered some of the best games ever made? MGS? Yes. But also games like Mario. But that's a platformer. It depends, but at least a good chunk of the time story should be just as important. Because, what the hell is the point of playing a game where I don't give a shit at all for the reasons I'm doing what I'm doing? To have fun? Games can be more than fun, they can be engaging, lasting, classic, but only if they put in the effort to be so.
If you want much better game in the same "Gothic Steampunk" feel, play Dishonored.

Remember the part where you're burning wooden boxes/ coffins with vampires in and then you have to inevitably fight some really cool vampire like enemies? No me neither, they just hinted the east India trading bit had vampires but then you never fight even 1.
This was at a time I believed I was playing a full in depth game and guessed I was near the beginning of the middle of the game. 2 hours later and the credits are rolling

The game does have this one pretty meta part. At the end Tesla gives your guy this amazing looking super weapon that as soon as you get you think "hell yeah this is going to be awesome." Then before the cut scene even ends the weapon gets taken away from you before you get to use it. Well that looked great and got my hopes up only to be thrown away, pretty much the game right there.
Tesla should have said: "Look at the graphic on this gun!"

The thermite rifle and arc gun aren't even original ideas really. The game, Resistance: Fall of man had similar, if not the same weapons concepts and functions. God I miss that game... Still one of my favourite shooters.
Also, I think the reason the cut-scenes and tutorial aren't able to be skipped is to give the illusion of a longer game. Destiny has the same issue, although a hell of a lot more replay value, And multilayer. I'm kind of getting tired of games coming out with really short story lines. I finished infamous second son the day I got my PS4... Same with Skyrim, The gameplay trailer was amazing but it was such a quick game to finish.
I actually really wanted this game but after a lot of other hyped games coming out and being relatively mediocre in the end, I thought I'd wait for reviews. I'm glad I did. I'll give this a pass until it's down to $10 pre-owned in 12 months.

Well yeah, I finished the main quest line pretty quickly, Oblivions was longer, Especially with the Shivering isle expansion. And the guild were a lot easier then previous. Just felt too dumbed down. The only thing I was happy with as an improvement was hte duel wielding :P

Rockstar started the development of GTA V in 2009 soon after the release of GTA IV. So Rockstar was developing GTA V in 2009, 2010, 2011,2012, and 2013. I count five years.
Massive open world, tons of stuff to do, longer campaign, 3 playable characters, online awesome MP, available on 5 platforms ... yeah. The Order doesn't hold a candle to it.

Damn was Reviewtechusa so wrong. He claims the order is good and worth it but no proof what so ever. 5 years for a game is elder-scrolls territory. 6-7 hours which includes tons of padding. Goddamn did some people get screwed for such sub-par game. Thanks Joe for being such a trust worthy dude.

Showing off the gameplay, cutscenes, and voice acting can prove that either it's good or bad. Just like how Joe showed it off.

You have to take into the account the developer. The Order is brilliant visually, and it is polished. The engine took a long time to build. Developing games isn't easy, especially with these visuals. Not to mention, these developers never made a console game before. All their work was on other developer's games (God of War for PSP).

FF7-10 each took 5 years for each game from their respective teams and came out fantastic in comparison to elder scrolls games. Dev times also don't mean shit. Look at Duke Nukem and Alien's colonial marines. Those are bad games that spent alot of time being made.
The order? not even close. Definitely more engaging than recent AC games and a majority of AAA these days. Thank GOD it's not another open world game. I'm sick of it at this point. ALSO, Skyrim is not 10/10 material. Joe gave that thing 10/10 due to QUANTITY of content, the QUALITY of it is very low. XENOBLADE is a true Skyrim type of game, Engaging content, they also spent 4-5 years on making QUALITY content in an 80 hour story. NOW, Xenoblade X will have 100-150 hours of story and 300 total hours. Fuck Elder scrolls.

The Order 1886 was the PS4 version of Ryse son of Rome. Graphically impressive, but easily forgotten due to non innovative gameplay.
God I love coming back to these old videos and watching Joe go from praising a lamp to raging at the whole game.

I had some fun with it, but that's about it.

I hear the developers of The Order bitched and moaned about review scores ruining video games because theirs only scored about 6/10. Guess the game was being pretentious about its graphics engine for a reason.
You know what I would have liked The Order to be? A squad based shooter. Instead of controlling just Galahad, you must also give commands to other members of The Order in order to accomplish certain objectives. The cutscenes could have essentially played the role of progressing the story while at the same time acting as mission briefings. The problem in my opinion is that this game, and other "AAA" games, are too afraid to appear "gamey". They need to look like they're movies, otherwise publishers think they won't sell. The sad irony is that very "gamey" games like Minecraft outsells them all. I know Jim covered this topic this week, but the trend of games needing to look like movies needs to die.

That would have been great. When the initial trailer came out, I thought it'd be co-op or at least as you said tactical squad combat (they all had different guns, which implied different combat roles for each character), but it had none of these.
Santa Monica, the producers, bitched and complained. Ready At Dawn, the actual developers, didn't really say anything besides "It's obviously not for everyone" on Twitter, which I don't think is bitching but just giving people an idea of what to expect, which was "something different".
I enjoyed The Order, I get that a lot of people didn't, but that's no reason to shame Ready At Dawn, they made a lot of really great games, including Daxter which is my favorite game out of the J&D franchise, and they make quality products that aren't broken with bugs.
I actually though it was a squad based shooter form the CGI trailers... :/
