I was a bit skeptical. I wasn't naive enough to think it would be up to par with the last of us. Not surprised but a little disappointed that Quantum Break didn't live up to the hype. Guess I'll try it out once it's free with Gold

True, but most games aren't built on time travel and the potential for change inherent within.
Idk, this game follows the time travel theory that no matter what, you can't change the outcome of events.
Yeah, I get that and that's cool and all (in a 'the only things you can change - such as your presence on the other side of an otherwise closed door - are actually how it always was' kind of way) but it's also such a let down. Most games don't give us choices, some games give us the illusion of choice and then some games give us multiple choices that genuinely change the ending of the game..
This is a game with huge potential for choice that not only doesn't give you any, it strips out even the illusion by making it painfully clear that nothing you do matters.
I dunno why it's sticking in my teeth, why it can't just be a story about how time can't be changed (except for time-enabled trespassing). Maybe games like Life is Strange have made me expect more.

Honestly, there is a level in Dishonored 2 that uses the mechanic of time travel to get through the level SO much better than this game, and it's not even the main focus of the game lol.
Yo that game was so cool. And yeah that mansion level was very well done. Super cool gameplay to sneak up behind a guard while you’re in the future, switch to past, choke him, then quickly get out of sight. Awesome!
Titanfall 2 also has a Mission like that as well. I wish Game Devs actually revisit Time Travel Games that affect the story but keeps the adrenaline action.

If the enemies were not bulletsponges, I think it would flow better and it would sit nicely with their "realistic take" . Gunplay -> heavy pistol 4 bullets in the clip? really? And once realism is the aim... I would love to be able to sneak around and knock out some enemies in new ways (time powers) instead of killing everyone. This is not Max Payne. I felt sorry for Monarch employees which I killed.
Unfortunately making enemies bullet sponges is a programmer's idea of "higher difficulty".

Have to admit though. This is the game that really sold me the Xbox one when it was first shown off. It really didn't live up to the hype, but i did rather enjoy it. I do hope we get something later down the road that would expand on it a little more. Maybe a book or a comic. I really want to see how he uses his powers after the main story

I'm willing to bet that Joe is perfectly okay with Nathan Drake fighting 100s of nameless generic enemies and being able to make certain jumps one second and only able to jump a couple of feet the next. It's okay for regular youtube commenters to attack a game they've never or will never play but when someone like Joe criticizes a game for having flaws that other games get a pass on--I take umbrage with that.
+Timothy Lewis I haven't really seen any areas in any Uncharted game where I noticed that Nathan should have made a jump and didn't. The games make it pretty clear that they aren't trying to be realistic or gritty like Quantum Break. I mean, the second game has mutants that disguises themselves as yetis to scare people away from Shambhala.

I thought this game will be brilliant when seeing the trailer and gameplay. Now I'm half way through and it is exactly as AngryJoe is explaining it. Sometimes the cut scenes are a lot longer than that gameplay.

Motion Blur is a travesty in any game it's put into. There is absolutely no reason whatsoever to add Motion Blur when your eyes naturally create their own 100% super realistic Blur Effect.

+Sovereign Gaming Camera motion blur is necessary at 30FPS because it makes camera movement feel more "fluid" than it actually is.
Actually, light emitting screens don't quite make a "blur" effect like in real life, so motion blur is necessary. It's because the objects on screens aren't really moving, it's just lights changing color at different refresh rates.

I love Remedy so I bought this recently just for the lore prep for Alan Wake 2. I couldn't finish it. The combat is so fucking repetitive and the characters are beyond dull. It's their worst game to date.
This game reminds me of another even better game where a normal guy gets super powers from an explosion and then another version of himself comes back to fuck your shit up, and that game is the original infamous for ps3

im gonna be honest, i loved this game, even the 40 min cutscenes, even my dad loved these cutscenes, even though he,s not into these types of games. This game reminds me alot of timeless
Finished it an hour ago since it's on game pass and i loved the cutscenes and the live action series. The gameplay was complimentary and mediocre at best.

The last of us and uncharted are actually one of the main reasons I got a ps4, but I ended up keeping an Xbox one just for halo, forza, and a few other games, they both have their pros and their cons, I love both for what they offer

I saw this review and was pretty uninterested, but the Super Best Friendcast actually made the game sound pretty okay. I finally decided to try it.
I uninstalled after 3 hours. How can it be this dull? It's a time shooter. How did you fuck it up? And why are the time effects so garish and busy? It's like every time something interesting happens, it's hidden behind a blender full of glass and sand. I like the effect, but it just covers everything. I hate it. I hate this game.

The real life TV cutscenes were so unnecessary. They were mostly boring, low budget and the acting wasn't even that great. Less of that bullshit and more gameplay is what gamers want!

One of the laziest things that game devs do today is use little collectible based systems that have the story locked in them. It's so lazy and requires more effort from the consumer and less from the dev. You can see it in the Halo 5 recordings, the destiny grimoire, the Quantum Break collectibles, and the division time flashbacks. What used to be a cool little Easter Egg for fans that want a little more depth in the story has now become a way for game devs to bypass an actual story experience and world building and just allows them to say "it's there! You just gotta collect 12 ghosts, or notepads, or covenant recordings, or memories". It's lazy and unless we let game devs know that we don't like this kind of storytelling then it's going to continue.
Not everyone feels the same way. I like finding little things that add to the world building, but aren't totally necessary.

I LOVED this game, the worse part about it was just the combat. I got tired of killing things over and over and the higher end enemies were ridiculous to play against. Got it for $30 so I think it was a great buy.

I feel like a minority here, but I absolutely LOVE this game. Maybe I play games wrong, for more of a narrative experience, but I was fully integrated into this story. The 20min show thing was a bit obnoxious, I do agree with Joe on the "Why" aspect of it being done, and if you don't know about it ahead of time then you will really be thrown through a loop and hate it, but being prepared I didn't really mind it. Would have been loads better to just have more actual game cutscenes. This game is 100% about diving yourself into the story as a character that knew NOTHING about what was going on. It was specifically mentioned multiple times that Jack and Will were extranged and Will purposely kept him out of this life. So going through all the collectables and emails and such was what really hooked the story to me. As a die hard Alan Wake fan I do acknowledge that I am a fanboy of remedy, so I will admit that I could be overlooking some things. I would definently recommend to people who love a good story.

+Robert Jonsson To be fair The Last of Us was really just a ported PS3 title, and Uncharted 4 is just one game. The PS4 system has some fantastic games coming out (Ratchet and Clank) but saying both console launches have had a lack of amazing exclusives previous generations had is near undeniable. Sony have Uncharted 4 and Ratchet and Clank (probably something else I forgot) where Xbox One has the Gears remake, the Forza series (especially Horizon 2) and Sunset Overdrive. By the way I enjoyed Quantum Break but theres no denying Uncharted 4 is going to be a better game and Alan Wake 2 would have been better.

Uncharted is pretty generic IMO. It just has good graphics, nothing else motivated me to keep playing the series.
This game sucks. I was amazed at the graphics, but once the gunplay started and I realized I didn't have a cover button...I started hating it. The controls for the time manipulation effects8 really are clunky. Yeah this game is a good looking piece of trash.

Quantum Break is a good game, just not for everyone. If you love a good story or love Max Payne and Alan Wake, get the game because its basically Max Payne with Alan wake storytelling.
Also I dont think Joe understood what the gameplay was. IT IS NOT A COVER BASED SHOOTER, the cover is supposed to be used while running around using your time powers. That is why you still take damage if you sit behind cover.
