What I liked about the L4D games is how the level designs made you feel like you were traveling across a large distance. It was an adventure where the characters were always on the road searching for something better. That's lost in this game because they have a home base, so the entire game really takes place in one localized area, with them reusing certain areas
Good point
That is true
MASSIVE understated point.
Yup, that area with the gas station was recycled in the campaign about 5-6 times throughout my play though, just lazy.
No wonder it kinda gets boring after a while

The contrast between l4d1/2 survivors and b4b survivors really reminds me how much respect is deserved for good writing and direction. It's like night and day.
Plus the general atmosphere is something to note too
Gotta disagree. I love the Cleaners. Molly is great, Mom is great, I love the fact they interact differently depending on which characters are in the party. I think a lot of people are seeing L4D through rose tinted glasses. The L4D survivors, while great, got super repetitive. Each level they said the same things, at the exact same moments. Ellis tells the same stories every time, and while funny the first few times, the 10th time it really starts to grate.

Needs a split screen co-op mode like L4D man, I would have immediately brought this if that was the case, regardless of the flaws
the game is free on gamepass
Exactly we need MORE couch coop games
I think we can see here Valve acted as a quality buffer for the L4D games. Turtle rock here are decent but they don't know how to bring their game over the line to be great.
@@wrath231 Your not getting couch coop anymore in anything more complicated than a Lego game....People don't get to cry about how games should be 45,00k and 120,000fps, photo realistic and then cry about couch coop. The game has to render everything twice and when its graphically intense thats not going to happen.. They can't even manage it in Halo infinite and its a F2P SNES game.
@@seancouger007 Gamepass is a cancer and its going to be hilarious when it kills gaming because games stop selling...MS isn't paying what the publisher could make on sales of the game, games make most of their money in the first month. But not when the trash welfare gamers get to get them "free" on gamepass. Good thing 90% of RE Village sales were on PS consoles otherwise RE wouldn't have sold shit.
So what I'm getting from this is that it's basically Left 4 Dead, except for arbitrary, needless additions and with the charm sucked out.
Sounds like a great example of "if it ain't broken, don't try to fix it"
veteran was already extremely hard in beta, they got feedback the easy difficulty was too easy and bumped all of them up
Love the name and profile picture.
You can solo through a proper co-op mode if no one joins your game. Eventually if it doesn't find a game or no other players, it will start the game regardless and the game tends to be a hell of a lot more easier when spawns are less frequent and bots are more effective when there's only one real life player playing. And you will get tons of supply points and achievements will unlock.
Some missions are impossible with bots as they cannot do the objectives.
True but why do the devs hate solo mode so much lol they act like your cheating by playing it. You can play solo mode but cant unlock anything lol have fun!
And I've noticed it gives you way more supplies than with a full team of players
I played through most of the game on solo but act 3 got way to difficult to keep doing that and what was funny to me was some actual players were worse than buggy bots like how the hell did you make it so far being this bad
You can make a coop game and set it to friends only or private and it'll start right away
My main complaint is how much the zombies will seemingly come out of nowhere endlessly and dog pile you
Something obviously happened to the developers in the years since L4D and Counterstrike. Either it's a loss of resources which is not impossible, a loss of personnel which is plausible or and (I can't believe I'm saying this) a loss of talent which is just...sad.
No one at turtle rock worked on left 4 dead except for 1 guy
My buddies and I loved playing over and over again switching out cards and trying different play styles. I give this a 7 out of 10. Definitely recommend playing with three other friends for a fun experience! All the bugs Joe had we never had which is weird seeing in this video and if any of that happened to us we would be upset as well but again with little to no issues and our FPS skills made this fun! GG's everyone!
Same, I definitely give this a high 7. It's basically the classic L4D experience when you get a good group with you, which is absolutely awesome.
no shit. Joe has some serious nostalgia blinders, I enjoy the changes to the difficulty. Most of the things he complained about seem to come to his own lack of skill or understanding decisions to make the game not a cake walk like not being able to keep a purple gun with gold attachments from the first act until the end? pretty dumb point and would make the game trivial. His only strong point is the Bot AI. I hope we do get campaign vs (i do however still enjoy the current mode aswell)
It feels like some of his users sent him beta footage instead of live release footage. Especially with the bots. The communal opinion of the playerbase right now is that the bots are not perfect but their better than most players and they've been damn consistent when it comes to freeing people unless they are following another player. (they seem to guard 1 player at a time)
@@bacontrooper4318 definitely agree with you on two points you made. His skill level was definitely lacking and let’s not kid our selves he’s not the best at FPS games. The second point was his nostalgia, I feel like he’s becoming an old man reminiscing about the old days. Things change Joe and that’s ok. When he said 4 - 5 out of 10 I was amazed.
@@Ralathar44 the bots are definitely lacking to say the least but that’s why you get three other buddies or you join a game with randoms and hope they have brains
I love your guys' angry reviews man. Even if I'm not even interested in the game, I check these out. Always quality entertainment. Thanks so much for the hard work!
There's a problem where it spawns too many specials that lock the entire party down with no way to stop it. Ending the run.
Yeah. It’s happened far too many times where me and my friends’ progress stall because too many specials spawn. Because of how durable most of them are we can’t move forward with risking taking damage and thanks to trauma being a thing it’s highly incentivized not to get hit due to how it can accrue over the course of a run
left 4 dead difficulty felt tough but you could overcome it with good teamwork and sharing items, the director placed special infected in ways that would throw you off and put you in binds. in this game, it feels like the difficulty stems from being flooded by ridden mutations in all directions. quantity over quality.
Get good.
Meanwhile back in the day in L4D I ran into a lot of negative nancies complaining on mic claiming that difficulty isn't hard enough for them (highest difficulty) . So I shot them in the back during the escape finale. Ahh good times.
@@jamiep4674 the only thing that needs to get good is the game itself
@@jamiep4674 how can someone get good with 3 tallboys coming after them on anything but recruit?
Damn, a 5/10 seems a little harsh. I was expecting a 7 or 8. I gotta disagree with some of what you said about the characters feeling boring or bland. I actually like the dialogue and banter between the characters and their unique dialogue during specific missions. It also helps knowing that each character has their own unique abilities/team abilities which adds more replayability imo. The card system is actually really cool too.
I do think the game is too difficult for its own good at the moment. Recruit and Veteran modes aren’t that bad, but spawning two, sometimes THREE special infected at one time feels like overkill. I’ve literally had three tall boys spawn behind one another and they take SO many bullets to put down. The enemy AI are really smart and annoying - I had a bloater/reeker puke on me and right after hide in bushes and stay there until my back was turned.
I’m having tons of fun with it and it’s even more fun when you have a communicative team to go through the levels with you.
8/10 for me
exactly, playing with friends that can communicate is the way to go, although I did manage to stumble upon randoms that were very fun to play with.
@Captain Desperate who hurt you?
Something about this review is wrong, it feels like they made it based on the beta. there are alot of very inaccurate statements and ideas and he gave Aliens Fireteam a 7/10, L4D2 a 7/10 and 5/10, and B4B a 4/10? That doesn't add up at all. Hell Aliens Fireteam is so thin on content and flawed it's already almost dead.
Lets be honest - even just hanging out with friends is FUN.
2021 and Angry Joe still out here providing entertaining and quality reviews
This was such a fun review!
Especially that glue part!
Lol...That was the best part.
I would like to see your take on the game “Deathloop”
my huge issues with the game are dealing with the lack of consistent length between levels, like I hate how I completed a pretty lengthy mission just to move onto the next one that takes like 2 minutes to complete. I am specifically talking about the mission where you fire the howitzer like 4 times and then you leave, or the mission where you walk out of the safe room, kill a single ogre and then head to the next safe room. The game is super fun with friends, but I can't help but feel like the game is MEANT to be played on NIGHTMARE for an actual experience. Everything feels too easy, even on veteran. Some special ridden have way too much health or too little for what they are, and of course the final mission has no actual fun in it at all. (I haven't watched the video yet, because I am in class) ALSO THE FACT THAT YOU CANNOT TAKE ATTACHMENTS OFF OF GUNS!!!!! PLEASE ADD THAT FEATURE!!!!
Try the lst 2 levels of act 3 on normal with bots. Its too damn hard.
I’d be entertained if he reviewed Nickelodeon’s all star brawl
They played it on stream
Will probably be a rapid fire review, I expect the next one to be Farcry 6
The scene where OJ is gluing attachments to weapons is what makes life worth living

Let’s be real we all came here for the “hey joe you wanna play a zombie game”😂😂
The game is so difficult because you just know they're gonna sell booster packs / battle passes with cards that balance the difficulty.
Oh goody, MICRO TRANSACTIONS
Gotta love sniping cross map with a fully automatic AA12 :)
The BOT AI on single player somewhat capable at shooting enemies, but stupid at tasks like helping you off the ground.
When it replaces BOTs midmatch with a incoming player, things cam go completely haywire. Sometimes starting them at the opposite side of the level. Other times Ive had four new players show up in my map and I kept three BOTs, so we had eight players
A pretty bad toxic community has already surfaced as well.

Man, that clip of the AI-controlled teammates endlessly following each other in a circle like a conga-line of cats chasing each other’s tails made me laugh so hard.
this says it all
I appreciate this review but have to say that youtube footage is from the Beta when they were completely broken is very unfair in a final release review.
Altho jittery and get stuck on things the AI is decent and makes the game ALOT easier on veteran. They have aimbot, drop ammo, ping weapons, focus fire where you ping, heal you constantly , have unlimited ammo, pipe bombs and molotovs and heal for free on health stations.
In beta they were busted AF and altho still not perfect they are legit better than 90% of randoms or ppl on a controller... judging by AJ gameplay the bots would also be better than him too.
All subjective criticisms completely fair but again the footage in video is the BETA bots and its kinda BS to show that and say "AI is dumb" the more you play with them you will realise they are actually pretty damn amazin.... l4d AI was still smoother and better as they didnt get stuck on everything but still, worth noting
@@frankylampard3931 I disagree, playing in a team of 3 plus bot. he will often refuse to heal even when you continually ping the wall medkit. Gets stuck everywhere. Loves to stand in front of a set up minigun. And will often refuse to free you while stending right next to you. Oh and a favourite place for a bot to throw a molotov is at your back agains single zombie you already killed.
@@Thorinbur all your complaints are correct, them getting stuck on everything, gettin in the way etc. They are buggy as fuck I agree. Weird thing is when you have more than 1 bot , they seem to heal me alot more and trust me trying to matchmake with randoms is way worse, random ppl jsut run off and die and steal ammo they dont need, il take bots anyday.
But my main point was that the clips shown was from a vid that got posted during beta and was way worse, i saw that vid months ago and thoughts its unfair to use that footage
Hope they can fix them alot more but when I said amazing i meant it makes Veteran actually doable with 2 players and 2 bots just for the ammo drops and how accurate they are at killing common zombies is great, also they use the wall medkit everytime for me, not sure why they dont for you.... maybe cos they are buggy still
@@frankylampard3931 If you're saying the L4D AI was "smoother and better" then B4B's AI must be the absolute worst, because the L4D AI was terrible
I love how they try to add personality to the characters with colour and accesories. The l4d characters had more personality in them than all of them put together. Hell the zombies in L4d had more personality than the characters.
The clown, the mud people, and the hazmat guys to name a few.
Suicide squad knockoff No.420
Despite the characters in L4D wearing regulator clothing, the way they interact with each other, their emotive expression and flavor text really sell them as memorable characters. There's something genuine about them that you enjoy. Even tho the sequel was more cheese, it was a loveable cheese that you can't fault them either.
The rocks on the ground had more personality
@@Deliveredmean42 its because the B4B characters look cartoonish and stupid, like disney made them for a kid's movie, not a zombie apocalypse. They suffer from "marvel syndrome" where all the characters are cheesy and cynical, and sound like what execs think teenagers/college kids say based off focus groups
OJ's happy face always makes me smile. Like a kid who is so proud of something and is excitedly showing you what they did.
In this case, it's making Joe play another Zombie game.
And everyone reacts like “HE DID IT! HE DID THE THING!”
Now all we need is to find out this zombie game is charging for blue.
I just realised that the card system was turtlerock's way of compenating for "the director" of l4d.
Except the director in L4D actually knew how to time waves and use enemies, ammo, and items in reasonable numbers to make things difficult without ever being frustrating. Here, even the tryhards go around telling you that you have to play with specific decks a specific way if you want to succeed on higher difficulties, because all the director A.I. knows is how to spawn poorly designed enemies in ridiculous numbers at a high rate.

We do that a fucking lot
Reminder that TurtleRock made Evolve. That asymmetrical hunting fps game that spawned Joe's famous rant about the color blue.
Evolve was a good game, the microtransactions however were the worst I've ever seen.
@@fattony3736 It wasn't "bad" but had very little actual content and also barely any real interaction between the hunters even though they were shown to have special relationships to eachother in trailers, info texts and the short scenes before they drop down in the hunting area. The mostly empty maps and very little diversity in the actual gameplay made it very repetitive in the end.
Also some things were just not balanced at all. The Behemoth for example can litteraly act like heavy artillery. That completely trivialised the defender game mode because you could just shoot your lava bomb straight up in the air and hit the generator (and usually also everything around it) from the opposite side of the map because the travel distance was not limited.
What made L4D2 campaign so good was the build up of tension to these set piece surprise attacks. There’s no tension in B4B it’s just constant chaos with special swarming you every corner. Also versus campaign was one of the greatest multiplayer modes in any game. You could coordinate with your friends on both sides and made for great planning and teamwork. The multiplayer in B4B just like the campaign is a chaotic mess
I’m glad I’m not the only one who noticed how there is non existent pacing it’s just random chaos all over the place with no strategy no tension no nothing.
And no internet connection required
I literally bought this game for the multiplayer believing (hoping) it would be like the multiplayer from L4D2…. I’m done with video games

Don’t call this game’s graphics better, L4D put so much love into each detail, facial animation, death animation, musical queues, character design, level design. Only *7* people who worked on L4D2 were pat off turtle rock, the rest were *all* from Valve
You're right. In terms of visual aspects like lighting and such that reflect the advancement of computer graphics in games of course B4B, a modern day game will look better. But the DESIGN of L4D2 is timeless. It's a 12 year old game and still looks good and feels great to play because it's simple and at the same time effective at telling a story just by art direction itself. Does it hell a lot better than B4B.
@@q_q123 not even lighting l4d2 had gunfire light up your environment b4b doesn't.
Tbh, I don't really know what's going on with the graphics of B4B, it looks good in the cleaners and environment not to say that they're topnotch but it just looks good but when it comes to the zombies and infecteds they look like slimes and not to mention the over-the-top blood splatters that looks like slime. It ruines the immersion or realism for me, imagine a simple punch to them, a pint of blood already scattered around unlike in L4D, the blood are subtle and splats in a reasonable and realistic way, no blood splatters when you shove them, shotguns, lots of blood, in normal weapons, reasonable blood, melee, ofcourse, lots of blood but in a subtle way.
@@q_q123 Don't forget the ambiance that L4D creates too. This game seems like an arcade shooter.

Though to me the gurgling snoring of sleeper always made me squint when I hear it. The boss types are audible everywhere, the ogre is accompanied by rumbling and roaring at spawn, and the breaker can be heard with it's roar multiple times as well as the breaking noises as it spawns, so I'm really confused why you say the don't have cues, they do, they just aren't catchy piano stings. @@funzywunzy totally agree when valve make a game they always put alot of personality and passion on alot of aspects overlooked by others (like sounds, music, character, balance, physics ect). This feels more like a game made by an algorithm or machine to mimic what it thinks made those others successful. They could have succeeded too.
Turtle rock made a great game in their early days but i doubt its the same wide eyed developers still at the studio. they shouldn't have backed away from valve as a publisher with their creative differences and just improved on the left for dead franchise.
What, CDProjekt wasn't a good enough lesson to end all lessons?
After the new patch, the veteran difficulty got even harder, and in the worst way possible(they buffed the mutation spawn numbers). If you trigger a horde accidentally on veteran or nightmare, it’s often game over no matter what cuz you’ll be fucked by a triple tallboy or crusher spawn.
I mean that should happen, i don't see the issue
They claim that the patch turned down special mutation spawns, but the patch literally doubled down on corruption cards. You even know that you’re screwed before leaving the safe house SMH.
There is a reason why the director in L4D2 would not spawn more than one special of each kind at the same time. Two Hunters at once was already one of the worst possible outcomes on certain difficulties in L4D1 but it had to happen sometimes because there were 4 slots for 3 "regular" specials. Not such a big deal most of the time, but a death sentence during a horde attack or if the team has already lost a survivor.
Throwing three huge ass mofos with the hp of a miniboss and fucking aoe attacks at you at the same time in a tight space is not something that should happen in a fair game.
I didn't think the beta was too easy. It was difficult af. Especially when the team takes every ammo and gun they find leaving nothing for you to use.
Man, that reminds me of L4D. That's where I learned people are even awful in a video game zombie apocalypse, nevermind a real one
Just like what would happen in real life

Left 4 Dead sucked solo as well.
@@Budd631 L4D and B4B both contribute heavily from playing with friends. It's just that the L4D AI is better and you can actually play all of the levels by yourself without needed online players. It also had couch co-op. B4B won't let you earn anything solo, the AI is laughably bad, and no couch co-op, so you're basically forced to play online. Of course, B4B is still new, so plenty of time to make changes. As things are now, however, the game just doesn't deliver.

So basically Outer Worlds?
That arrogant you're welcome from OJ is basically what the devs are saying to you after we gave our feedback from the beta and they still didn't improve certain things. Single player campaign is utter trash. Completely pointless to do. And not able to kick useless players and trolls out is another amazing feature.....
No game should include a kick feature unless it's in a private lobby or ranked lobby (before match starts). Vote to kick gets abused way to much.
If I spend money on a game I expect to be able to play it and not be at the mercy of dickheads.
It's easy enough to just back out and find a new lobby if you dont like the team (not so much in b4b admittedly, match making takes forever)

@@SneedRemembrancer That's what I meant by private lobby.
My references for VTK abuse were mostly R6 Siege and Phasmophobia (the latter being all hosted games).

You do have a good point but, hosting your own game doesnt guarantee people will join.

Totally agree with AJ here. WTF was TRS thinking not having those musical cues. I get they wanna create tension and what not but all this does is make sure players get frustrated as hell when two Tall Boys creep up on an entire team like they were ninjas.
Audio cues in L4D and Vermintide gave teams a bit of time for advanced planning and this extra layer of tactics really complements the fast paced gameplay style of these types of games.
Not to mention the fact that it adds memorability to the special enemies. Like I still remember the Charger and Tank themes from L4D over 10 years later.
The worst part about musical cues is there is actually one special that does have a cue which is the hag but only on the first mission you meet one. (From what I can tell) and it works so well me and 2 friends were playing and out of nowhere the fog intensifys and a spine tingling song starts and all of us start panicking god it was so fun. Honestly I wish there were more missions like that. The only missions that got the adrenaline pumping were the boat mission, the chapel(aka the hag intro), and the bar defense(just because that song is a certified bop).
music ques would've been bad imho. because the director throws multiple specials at u at the same time with them being different variants. it was easier to do them in l4d(2) because there wasn't that many + no variants/ so if u imagine multiple variants for ex of tall boy( tall boy + crusher/bruiser), and u have music ques going on at the same time for both variants as well as playing music for the stinger, then yea.. guess what happens to ur audio.
don't rely on a game to tell you there's danger, use your own awareness

They hyped up this game as being made by the l4d creators when it was less than 5% of the original crew..
Man, AJ really hit the nail on the head. Playing B4B (see, I used it Devs), it's clear the game isn't a bug filled mess thankfully. Instead, it's plagued by some really, really bonehead design decisions that AJ has captured in this review. While TRS could fix many of these in post-launch updates, I'm not so convinced that they are actually listening to their community.
They don't care about the community. Dropping attachments is something we've been requesting since the closed alpha and now they decided to lock that feature behind a card nobody's gonna use instead of making it default.
@@yaago My guess is that 3 months from now TRS will be wondering why the game doesn't have the longevity of the L4D games if they don't listen and respond to player feedback quickly. I doubt I'll play through the game more than a handful of times, unfortunately.
Look what they did with Evolve. They base their games around microtransactions and a business model meant to leach players of money.
@@beatsarebroken Actually right now the game has the same numbers as L4D2 and L4D2 is 12 years fucking old. The game ISN'T even a month old. It's not even 20 days old yet at the time of me typing this.
For context, L4D2 has supported 10-20k players for 12 years. B4B 17 days old, has dropped massively to 10-20k players from 60k in a mere 17 fucking days

So glad you brought up the terrible bot AI. In one of the levels where you had to defend the bar, one of my bots was running in place on top of the jukebox and lending zero support while we had to defend the location for like 5 minutes straight. What a nightmare.
Man tell me about it. Bots are STUPID glitchy! I cannot beat the last 3 levels on normal the difficulty spike is too high. I hope they patch this.
Wish they compared the L4D1/2 AI bots. Which never let me get kills cause they had Neo like reflexes, swapped for better weapons, always came to my rescue, and never got lost...sad really.
The bots were useless in the beta but not to bad now…atleast they drop unlimited ammo and heal you lol. The difficulty also scales down a lot the more bots you have
Bots are stupid. They can just get stuck doing jumping animations, one of my bots was just holding a health pack the entire match didn’t heal anyone and was walking up to specials with the health pack and getting KO’d over and over again.
It's even worse when it's the same developers of Left 4 Dead 1 and 2, which has some of the best a.i. I've ever seen. Back 4 Blood's a.i. is pathetic in comparison.

afew questions, did u have good team comp, decks, play smart etc because vet and nightmare difficulty arent casual by any means, my current deck basically lets me melee fight ogres so idk what u mean ogre is hard
Your supposed to have a full build for veteran but the other builds dont even work right now. The melee abilities work but the shotgun and assualt rifle ones dont
You just need to get better at the game and also build a better deck. I'm almost done with Act 3 on Veteran. I felt exactly the same way as you when I first tried it. A lot of cheap deaths will occur though, namely to Tallboys or corruption cards that spawn crows everywhere.
It doesn't help that Recruit feels like a boring cakewalk while veteran feels impossible. So I'm forced to grind out the boring braindead easy campaign to unlock cards to even try the veteran campaign.
A good team or not, even with a teamwork set of decks and knowing the levels, the amount of spawn rate of specials get far too out of hand.
OJ's username in that boat mission "Imtryingbro311" was just too perfect for that clip
I didn’t get it?
That intro was top tier XD I love that AJS had been going long enough to have so many 'in' jokes.
I think the vast majority of people, including reviewers and the creators of these games themselves, seem to miss is that the "Left 4 Dead" games were kind of built on a movie-concept. - The idea was that you're playing through like a movie or series or scenarios anyway, to the point that each campaign or chapter also had a chapter name, even its own poster (the loading screen and actual posters you could buy (RIP Valve Store)), and then ending with an actual credit-roll that showed the statistics of the gameplay in it. - And it's not like the game NEEDED that, in fact I've always felt like they could've done a little more with it or not bothered. However, the point is, that's what gave the game character, that was the theme (besides being horror/apocalypse), it created the settings, characters, ambience, and so forth. - This is what "Back 4 Bleh" did away with, whether it was intentional to either not bother or not do the same thing as their own "Left 4 Dead", or because of ignorance and overlooking the essences of those games. - This is why "B4B" lacks character and some immersion.
Exactly! And that's also why calling the game AI manager "Director" doesn't make sense either in this game ! While it perfectly made sense in the L4D world.
Back 4 bludd seems to still be built on movie concepts, however they're based on today's terrible, generic and forgettable movies full of garbage tropes. It's like playing in the worst of Netflix or too many seasons of the Walking Dead. Nothing new and they take it too seriously when they shouldn't. It's not even a funny parody like Dead Rising, or Lollipop Chainsaw.
So basically its killing floor

Funnily enough Joe its the opposite when you said "They must've gotten brutal feedback for the difficulty". Everyone in Beta pretty much agreed the difficulty transition from Easy > Normal/Hard was way too insane. Easy was a cake walk, but then normal was akin to being slapped around silly with how stupid the game director would be. Hard difficulty was just blatantly unfair. Its like they took our feedback and did nothing with it. Its just not fun when the game director decides to spawn 3 tallboys that can sprint faster than you and 1 shot you, and also become bullet sponges all in the first 5 minutes of the first level.
Dude we had 8 Tallboys plus spitters and the hoard, on recruit! So yea....
Truth is, ya'll just bad. I've been running the Campaign on Veteran with only 1 friend and we are doing it farily easy. Sure, we only completed act 1 on veteran and act 2 is way harder but it's doable. Learn the game. Build some decks. Have a healer. Play smart. Get those team upgrades. Etc. Tons of ways.

@@CptVein go outside and find some friends bud you can do it
I have beaten all of Veteran mode with a friend and it's stupid hard some runs but other's are quite easy. Used a melee build while my friend used a scavenger build, having a lot of ammo and copper helps a lot. Someone who can do a lot of crit damage can also help and melee builds nullify all the tallboys and the breaker since hitting a weakspot with melee stuns. I wished there was an option between vet and recruit so I can have a more casual time instead of constantly worrying that I'd die from a random special infected.
Yea me and my friend played and were completely murdered barely after act 1 level 2
OJ's smile when Joe snatches the box out of his hand is so wholesome.
I can recount one time where I was playing with randoms, I had a Vector SMG kitted out with some of the best attachments in the game, and sweet load of copper to spend during each round. It was a satisfying feeling of achievement, but I had a random who was constantly shooting birds, cars, and triggering door alarms at every opportunity to start a horde and waste our ammo. Because there was no kick option, I had no other choice but the end the run and start another one, completely losing all of the good weapons and attachments I managed to get during the run. It was one of the most rage-inducing things I think I've ever experience in a shooter.

In L4D the kick option worked because gamers were more laidback and casual but if B4B had it, then you'd see people getting kicked for the slightest mistake or even for looking new with no cosmetics and that would immedietly drive away the actual new players as well. In a four-player co-op it's unavoidable that sometimes you get bad players that ruin your run.
Just a thought when I was in culinary school, instructors would always tell us whenever we have a practical exam to always keep our dishes simple. It's good to try and make complex things/techniques BUT the best way to express skill and technique is on a simple well put together dish. It reminds me of left 4 dead. The design is so simple, yet the gameplay regarding how players tackle the map/infected/special infected is varied and complex.
As a fellow cook from a culinary school I agree much in this and also want to add..
"Learn when to stop".. Sometimes your pursuit to this perfect good looking dish can eventually overthrow the beauty of it because you tried to put too many stuff on it that it ruins the flavor and the presentation..
I know innovating from this generic co-op zombie horde shooter can be quite tough but throwing all the things in the sink and hoping something will stick can also hurt the game..
More movement options can be a good start, ala Dying light..
This is probably the philosophy over at Valve. They are very experimental and open there, as far as I could tell, yet they're also very concise when it comes to making decisions. - If you look at their games as well; It's all about very clear gameplay-mechanics and getting players to use them and play the game properly. - It seems Turtle Rock either didn't learn from their time with Valve or just forgot about it. - Because all this modernized crap they've shoved into it like "XP" or "currency" and "cards and all that crap has no place in this kind of game. - It should be way more about the use of the weapons and tactics, as it's about humans fending off aggressive undead. And whether you win or not depends on how you approach the game with the tools that it provides to you. And those tools shouldn't be everything and the kitchen sink, it should be a limited amount of things, making you have to choose wisely and play accordingly.
The cards and attachments seem cool, but with some poor implementation and just too many cards (either over power, overly specific, or on the opposite end, too generic and forgettable). I love RPGs but too many games are trying to add RPG-like elements that just don't jive well, like Dying Light and Assassin's Creed.
