Hey, to their credit there's some real talent behind a lot of Skyrim's modding community. They at least care about what they make, and put in actual effort.
StrunDoNhor That they do. Some of those mods take months or years to make, with entire teams of modders contributing thousands of man hours. And when they're done, they give them away _for free._ And yet a triple A gaming company with some of the best professionals in the country, who are being _paid_ to develop quality content can't match the modders who worked for free. What does that say about that company?
I just realized it’s just the fact that they didn’t animate the eyebrows at all, they stay stationary the whole time no matter what expression Edit: stop saying the same exact fucking thing over and over without reading the other replies I meant that it was the main issue with the animation, in most scenes the eyebrows don’t move at all, which if you didn’t know is where humans see emotion on faces the most Of fucking course there are other things wrong with it stop fucking @ing me saying the same exact things that others before you have said
I don’t think it’s just the eyebrows. Emotions come through ALL over the face, pursing your lips, narrowing your eyes, clenching your jaw etc. it’s just blank here
The girl at 2:31 says "eyelash" but like you're saying, I think she means "eyebrow" (I mean, what would an "eyelash animation" even look like - the eyelashes simply move with the eyelids. Maybe she doesn't know the difference? Misspoke? Oh well.). It seems like there's actually some animation of the eyebrows, but they are put too high on the characters' faces and from there they can only go up and never down, meaning they only have two facial expressions: shocked and very shocked.
They modeled Scott Ryder's face off an actor, and while they did the same with Sara Ryder they also altered her in-game face to "be less attractive and more realistic". Bad enough the writing was full of what I call "purple Hawke" moments. Scenes that try so hard to be funny and almost every line of dialogue had to be "snappy" and "quippy". Not to mention the devs raised questions only to reveal after the fact they had no intention of answering them because they didn't plan that far ahead. A patch can't fix this game, it needs to be called non-canon and or rebuilt from scratch to even have a chance of standing in the same league as the trilogy.
That might be partially true, but I'm pretty sure default Sara Ryder didn't become such a meme because of a design note like that. What is more likely is that between the original design from one studio and animation development from another, in an overseas studio, Bioware simply was too big a gaming studio to see that fixing faces be a priority. It didn't look right, and they knew it.
I mean half of them look woke af so I can imagine the writers being just sjw trash, replaying Mass Effect 1-3 rn with the legendary edition. Sure, most of the bugs are probably patched out now but that doesn't excuse EA from releasing it in such a buggy and broken state to begin with, perpetuating the bullshit practice of using paying customers as Beta testers. Besides which, the game actively breaks aspects of story/character/universe lore from the previous three games, as mentioned by the commenter above. And on top of that, I've got about a dozen games in my Steam library that I haven't even looked at yet (dem Steam Sales), all of which are in far a more polished state than this was at release - even some of the Early Access titles. I'm glad you enjoyed it, but EA is getting no more money out of me for anything related to the Mass Effect franchise, I'm done. Santi Cheeks the original Star Wars Battlefront games. The original Star Wars Battlefront games. Two of the best games in history later to be destroyed by EA and DICE in 2015 and 2017.
Yeah, that's one of the worst, and funniest, culprits. Someone smiling at you, while they confirm through a nod of the head, that you're correct, their father is dead. Who was in charge of the quality control in this game? Did anyone from EA actually play-test it?
How are they bad? They match the quality of the animations and face. Really though the dialogue sounds oddly mechanical in some instances and in others it seems like they just ripped it from somewhere else and I just don't care enough to look, and also they seem to have really horrible transitions - making me question "how is that the next line of spoken dialogue?" alongside acting of "First take or go home" and is...oddly empty feeling. My opinion of course but still.
They're bad because people don't talk/act like this. It just isn't believable and cliche. You're dangling for life and you yell/joke, " Hold me"? Like, what the actual cringe? The terrible delivery for the lines don't help, either.
Sad thing about this: Even if they had released ME:A without a single glitch or bug and even with decent face animations - it would only be a minor improvement. Main problems are the laughable enemies, the lackluster story, the forgettable script, the hateworthy sidekicks and above everything else: the absolutely embarrassing presentation. In Mass Effect 2, even the most dull side mission had its cinematographic presentation, keeping the immersion at max. Here, you have to look for them with a looking glass while you spent your time picking dialogue in a shameful over-the-shoulder perspective 9 out of 10 times. How could they overlook the qualities of the original Mass Effect that hard?
They had a big established universe that was built across 3 games and instead of setting this game in that universe, they made it so that it was pretty much 100% disconnected. I'll really never understand that choice. They could've made an entire game set on the citadel, where you're a c-sec cop. Or they could've made a game where you're a drell assassin. Or they could've made a whole game about just being a krogan mercenary in the universe. Or literally a million other things that the universe has already established. But instead of doing something creative like that, they basically just made a generic sci fi game that's very very loosely connected to the Mass Effect universe.
@@KrikZ32 That was the first and only good decision they did, imo. ME3 destroyed the universe, literally and metaphorically. The endings were completely different (way more than other games where you can choose what faction rules, for example), and they never really explained any of the endings. Moreover, people really hated that ending, even those who liked the rest of ME3. They couldn't make a sequel, and a prequel would have less potential and it would be very hard to make (especially if they planned to do more than one game). They had to reboot the saga. The problem was that the new universe was boring and unambitious (I mean, only one new species? They abandon every species who can't shoot behind cover, and several who can, and they only add one, and not even one especially interesting?)
4:57 Think Bioware is trying out jiggle physics, move over DOA, lol. I love DA, and ME, but all the bad press is making me weary. Which is partly why I didn't get it day 1. That, and waiting for the eventual DLC, so I don't have to replay it several time (I create multiple characters).

It might be some stupid boss telling everyone how it should look, and everyone is just "OMG, but whatever".
It's the same problem as with Cyberpunk. The devs knew the game isn't ready yet but EA insisted to release it.
16x the detail lol
@@verloser well the new gow had a problem with wanting to be cinematic getting in the way of the gameplay, removing jumping, making the camera so close to kratos it's hard to dodge things so they gave you a traffic light for things behind you (and still added enemies spamming projectiles that make harder difficulties hellish because you can't see them), and adding unskippable slow sections that make it annoying to replay. Not a bad game but not as good as the other ones, yet praised so hard because IT'S MATURE, IT'S LESS LIKE A GAME AND MORE LIKE A MOVIE SO IT'S OBVIOUSLY BETTER, AND IT'S MORE SERIOUS AND NOT GOOFY SO IT'S SUPERIOR!
The excuse of it having to be realistic is dumb, you're playing with a powerhouse that can do awesome shit yet you're limited to attacks that are so close to the camera you can't even see that spectacle well like in other action games. The rpg elements add no real depth so they might as well not be included, and without manual jumping you can't have setpieces that are actually controlled by you and fun to go through, instead it's done for you in a cutscene.
The older gow had better gameplay and they aren't even the best in their genre. The story is good but in a game you should focus on the gameplay first, or else you make a visual novel.

Of fucking course there are other things wrong with it stop fucking @ing me saying the same exact things that others before you have said
I don’t think it’s just the eyebrows. Emotions come through ALL over the face, pursing your lips, narrowing your eyes, clenching your jaw etc. it’s just blank here
@@ElleDeas They over exaggerate every movement on the face while being are twitchy and stiff.

Bioware was forced to use new unfamiliar frostbite 3 engine build for other types of games, here is a result.
That Krogan doing the Shia Lebouf impression was just perfect.
That last paragraph is spot on. People need to realise that some games are just too fundamentally fucked from the start to save with updates.
I hate the “too cool for school” protagonists. It gets old.

@@themindset4164, "purely based off of some wonky face animations"... well yeah, that. Plus the other 20-odd-minutes-worth of broken shit that was showcased in this video.
@@austingray6885 yup
yes true but all mass effects are shit
@@TheBobville If that is your opinion and you didn't like the games, alright. I wouldn't accept it as general statement, though.
The new mass effect teaser trailer came out and people are already singing its praises and can’t wait to give up their money. How quickly they forget.
