      just to know,i know the owner of sis cevap,facts: 1 sis is delivered every 12 seconds,he works 24/7 in 3 shifts,27 employees in one day,he makes about 3000 dollars a day,when he pays taxes and workers etc... That's how you do business. Fun fact,when someone new opens a place near him,hi goes with entire staff and eats at a new place for a gesture of good will. And just so you know the name of the street is Goce Delceva,but in common speech is Ulica Gladnih,translation-the street of hungry people because of a bunch food choices .

      Everything is great that you tried, but that first burger is not good, it used to be good meat, it was horribly spoiled. "REAL PLJESKAVICA" is no longer real. The meat is extremely worse than it used to be. It survives only through marketing and cheating tourists.

    Serbia has some quality food indeed. If you go outside of Belgrade to smaller towns and villages, the food gets 5x better because they use home-grown vegetables and often their own meat. I grew up in Serbia and I can guarantee you that they have the cleanest way of meat preparation. Also GMO food is prohibited in Serbia, while in many EU countries it is being widely used. The government wanted to legalize it but the people held protests and didn't want it, because Serbia simply doesn't need it.

    You need to try out some traditional cooked home meals. All you were eating is just fast food, which is tasty, but if you haven't eaten the real Serbian homemade meals, then you haven't tasted Serbia honestly!
    Ask the locals where you can find the town's best restaurant for traditional homemade meals like:
    SRPSKI PASULJ (Serbian been soup)
    SARMA
    RIBLJA ČORBA (Fish soup)
    PAPRIKAŠ
    GIBANICA with cheese
    KAJMAK with lepinja
    AJVAR
    Just screenshot my comment and then you can show the meal names and ask the people for it.
    Really you have to go to a restaurant with homemade meals. It's also not expensive at all

    Hey Warriors, excellent observation for the purity of ingredients here in the Balkans. It is not only you but your stomach speaks the truth. Few tips: Balkan people do not like aggressive marketing and dragging people into the shops. Usually, we sit and eat the food slowly, having it on the go does not allow you to taste but also to digest the food properly. Oh boy, you bite that cheese pie and it was still steaming, Surely it hit your sensory nerves in the mouth. Luckily, Mosante still has not spoil the land here that badly. Secondly, we are simple and love that plain food with minimum additives, MSGs but even spices for we believe it all spoils the taste of the original ingredients. Bro, you have not tried burek in Bosnia yet! Enyoy!

      @@JetLagWarriors There's one significant thing with ĆEVAPČIĆI, which is, that the meat is being salted and let in the fridge for a long time, some let it 12h, some 24h and others up to 7 days, everyone has his own recipe, and in that time the meat is being fermented by the salt, which gives the unique taste of ĆEVAPE. Originally in ĆEVAPČIĆI there's nothing else than salt!
      Like others mentioned, we traditionally don't use all those chemicals and additives.
      Kajmak is made out of the fat that occurs after raw milk has been cooked. When the milk is cooked you let the pot stay over night and the next day you collect the fat and give salt to it, and you do this layer after layer and collect it traditionally in wooden vessels. See here at 1:14 ruclips.net/video/PArJVCpfZhQ/видео.html

      Oh yeah, it's called ŠIŠ (SHISH) just like Turkish. In Serbia, every sound we have in our language we got one representative letter for it. Hence the sound (SH in English) it's Š In Serbian, the little (v) over the S + the letter (S) equals in (Š). Same if you see C, Č and Ć, these are 3 different letters, pronounced C (TS), Č (TCH) and Ć (CH)

    in most cases pljeskavica is pork meat and it is more popular to be eaten as fast food from pita bread. Ćevapi are diferent story they are made from beef, lamb or pork, or a mixture and you need to ask owner which version you eat. Most use mix beef+pork in Serbia. Ppl dont eat them from pita bread becouse it is little complicated and pljeskavica are easier to position in bread.
    There are no best burek or pljeskavica. Those are very easy meals to prepare and we rate them just as good or bad.

    Maybe you need a homemade Burek or pita I make it often it’s one of our favourites. The yogurt is best with the meat or potatoes ones .I definitely use feta cheese but I also add cottage cheese and sour cream inside

    Regarding the food quality - you're correct. Just to a local SR pijaca and buy any nice tomato and eat it fresh (after giving it a good wash!). The difference between traditional tomatoes and 'industrial' tomatoes you'll find in most worlds' supermarkets is huge - the industrials are designed to last long and be transport resliant but are virtually tasteless.

    Difference between pljeskavica and cevap is that pljeskavica has onions and cevap garlic. Meat is the same just the preparation is different.

    Since I do live in Hamilton, difference between burger and pljeskavica is that no spices are put in burger - spices are in form of toppings. In your other Belgrade street food video you showed that bunch of spices go in a patty. That's the major difference.

    Maybe I missed the video, but you should have tried what is called in Romania merdenele [merdenea in single], a pastry filled with hot cheese. It's a quick and cheap street food, best places are in Bucharest in Amzei Sq and it used to be, not sure if it really survived the Covid situation, in Victory Sq, down at the metro station. Best served as in Serbia burek, with sour milk and hot :)

    • @JetLagWarriors
      @JetLagWarriors  2 года назад +3

      Ah, I think we missed merdenele in Romania! We did have haiducesc, maybe that is similar? Anyway it's something for us to eat when we are back :)

    • @ipostaze2
      @ipostaze2 2 года назад

      @@JetLagWarriors merdenele is something as much as Burek with "falling-on-your-tshirt pastry, crunchy and with salty chees inside :) Do not try it at Luca, ask for recommendations from other Romanians if you ever get back here :)
      Cheers!

    • @LusioEcarts
      @LusioEcarts 2 года назад

      @@JetLagWarriors Yes.. you should try the ,,merdenea'' :D (merdenea is just one / merdenele is more than one)
      But something similiar is also the Pateu cu Brânză (Cheese Pate). If you ever try them.. try to eat them warm (taste better when they are warm.. not coId)
